You can't polish me? |
One thing I do know is this. Do not despair fellow FHFans as there are many reasons to stay tuned to the Habs:
1) Carey Price. He can only improve. He can't possibly play 70 games, allowing his save% and gaa to remain at these all time lows. Right?
2) Shooting %age - Habs have the highest shots per game and are dead last in goals for per game. Its not all lack of quality CHances with all those shots. The pucks will start going in. Maybe 5 against the Rags was the start something positive.
3) Drouin. We have a forward that can actually gain zone entry with the puck AND maintain control of it. GalCHenyuk can learn from this guy as I think it's one of his major faults and would go a long way to endearing him to CJ2.0. Or not.
4) The PP. It's near the bottom right now but has promise. Need a big body for the front of the net and don't always make the BBQ blast option #1.
5) Rope-a-dope.
And these are but a few. So keep watCHing. It's going to get better.
But I can't put the defence on this list. I honestly think MB has downgraded it over the past 18 months. Opponents don't seem to have fear crossing our blueline because there's no (Y), N8 or PFK looking to take you out on entry. But I appreciate BBQ's presence once in the zone. He is 3rd in the league in hits and that's a good start. I just hope points 1 through 5 are enough to offset the more porous defence.

On this date in 1974 the greatest of all time first employed the rope-a-dope strategy before knocking Foreman out in the 8th round. It's clear the Habs have embraced that same strategy this season and game 12, on the date Ali did it, is the perfect time to get off the ropes and start pounding their opponents into submission.
So stay strong FHFers, the Habs will float like a butterfly and sting like a bee. The turds can't beat 'em, wait and see.

If you haven't seen it, be sure to check out moeman's post from last night/this morning. It's an instant classic.
ReplyDeleteGO HABS GO.
You've pretty much nailed it down, I find this team unwatchable. There is no pizzazz, no threat to score, despite putting 5 past a sucky backup. It just seems they've had the creativity coached out of them or it's Jabba's crappy "System" which seems to be handed down time after time after time from some old school Punch Imlach acolyte.
ReplyDeleteI would never boo Carey Price. Never. It's not always his fault. He seems to have more bad luck lately with pucks deflecting off sticks or his own player's asses. GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE WAY!!
The defence is terrible, even kypridiot recognized they have no footspeed other than young Mete. Bergevin's bungling has left them in bad shape on the back end. This four game road trip should tell the tale if they are still alive for a wildcard spot or will be servicing the tank engine for start up.
I want to dance like and Eypitian.
ReplyDeleteHow do you spell tank? Big Al in net for a must win game within your own division.
Talk about a bad season. Scherbak out six weeks with knee surgery and we know how that goes. I just watched the new Beguiled so its a bit of a spoiler to consider feeding him mushrooms now..
ReplyDeleteHere's a comment I thought was worth sharing.
ReplyDelete"Typical a reporter from Toronto would say "Marleau and his three-year, $18.75-million contract are proving to be steals". Marleau has only played 12 games of his three year deal and this guy is already saying his $6.25/year contract is a steal??? What kind of a writer is this? Marleau has played 1/8th of the season and only 5% of his 246 regular season games and he's labelling the contract a steal already?? Gee...I wonder what this guy thought with David Clarkson's $37.5M contract with 16 pts in 118 games. Save this type of article after Marleau's 2nd year of playing for the Leafs."
Commentor is from BC, proves fans outside of the GTA are fed up with the SFU.
Deletewe won the Hempsky lottery, just wait till he gets his head right. Marleau will get a skin rash next year and retire
DeleteAll the best to Scherbak.
ReplyDeleteGood interview with Dryden today.

Ken Dryden coming up on 690 in about 5mins.
ReplyDeleteInigo starts.
ReplyDeleteNice run-down St. Pad.
ReplyDeleteOnly thing missing is getting rid of JJD.
And replacing with Big Bird. A travesty that he's never been hired by this or any of the prior regimes.
DeleteYep.
DeleteShould worse come to worse and CHanges happen I suggest Patrick Roy as President of hockeys opps, Julien Brisebois as GM and yes get Larry Robinson as the D coach.
That's a good looking team of leaders.
DeleteYes
DeleteI don't understand why.
I think it was Savard.
Didn't want to be outclassed off the ice as well.
Stll
JJ has great hair.
Great hair is important
Go Habs
Tough news for LHN. Got his chance and Bang! Get him a bionic knee Geoff.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to Inigo tonight - might just need it.
Flipped to RDS and confronted by the POS tremblay. Skipping the pre-game.
ReplyDeleteSpicy sausage pizza. Splash of CHenin Blanc. Carrot cake.
ReplyDeleteAck.

ReplyDeleteSooo, what time is football On?
ReplyDeleteInteresting...can watch either Habs broadcast or Sens broadcast on tsn. Both tremendous options.
ReplyDeleteMoe are your Steelers going to trade Martavis Bryant? He's wasting away on my fantasy team's bench.
ReplyDeletePIT never trades, they just wait and expect their player to get/be happy.
DeleteCHud!
ReplyDeleteCHud!!! What a Beauty!
ReplyDeleteCHud!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat was a hockey player goal, beaut good for the kid he needed that.
ReplyDeleteDid not try Kodi got TWD loaded for after the game, this season is pretty good but TWD still the most ridiculous show when it comes to gunplay.

ReplyDeleteWow. WTF is going on? Rope-a-dope is the answer.
ReplyDeleteSo far Habs beating the Send trap as the puck is no where near centre ice/blue lines.
ReplyDeleteSend = Sens
DeleteGood period. Lots of positives. Quality of shots vs quantity will win every time.
ReplyDeleteMCd also dropped the plyon princess
ReplyDelete75,000 people in KC doing the tomahawk chop while chanting the stereotypical Native American war chant. Extremely cringe worthy. Do they not know? Or not care?

ReplyDelete6-3
DeleteWhat a move by KidA!
ReplyDeleteGoals from Patches, kidA, gCHuk, Leko and CHudx2. Your goal scorers scoring goals. That's a good plan.
ReplyDeleteNice feed from kidA to Plexxxe for the touchdown goal.
ReplyDeleteWe’re winning? Again?
ReplyDeleteYep ... and scoring. Who knew?
DeleteLeko!
ReplyDeleteKarlsson is -6 tonight according to Poulin. Love it.
ReplyDeleteNice win.
ReplyDeleteI've come to a frightening realization. We're actually a lot like the leaf. Score 5 or more and we have a good shot at winning.
ReplyDeleteDammit we cant even tank properly.
ReplyDeleteHappy for everyone, let keep it going down the road.
Its a season where all of my predictions have come true before Halloween. We are a better team than last year and cup contenders, and we will get a lottery pick so tank.
ReplyDeleteThat's more like it, 2 in a row. I thought after that 1st goal 20 secs in it was going to be one of those night. No idea why MitCH got a penalty - typical.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to CHud on hist first NHL goal and then his 2nd.
Tough night for #65.
Eight goals for? Impressive.
ReplyDeleteKarlsson on for 7 against? Equally impressive. The hnic dimwits (especially kypridiot) love this guy and will ignore it, whereas PK would have been drawn and quartered.
Update: I'm getting a little stronger every day but still can't make it past 10pm local time. Two weeks out from the surgery, hopefully another week or so will get me back in the game, so to speak.
Get well theM.!
Deleteare you taking enough meds? You gotta do the downers in the morning and the uppers in the afternoon.
DeleteOh yeah I was watching the TSN feed and the broadcasters where blowing Karlson even though his penis was late stage syphilis. Frankenstiens head is going to explode before Christmas.
I not calling out anyone, but fans who gave up on this team are more responsible for the bad start than TFS. Even though I gave up on all the players, the coach and the GM, I still believed in this team:)
Seriously there seems to be no pattern to the NHL anymore, its like the stock market
valuations who needs them. Look at Pittsburgh in our last week world of hurt. Thankfully like the trees that are their foundation the leaf are falling in late autumn like they have since 67.
When TFS gets his yips out and the SCHlem is healed we may find that in this fucked up world we have a solution to winning hockey games. Never forget the Jewel of the Nile, it was a terrible sequel but the original was pure gold.
My feel good moment of last night was not looking at last weeks SF. No it was CHud. When he speaks English he sounds like he is about to cry at any moment. Well his two goals last night moved me to tears of joy. I love the Leko, I love me some KidA, but CHud scored two Radulov goals. This is monumental, this is like finding Gretzkey in the fifth round. This kid is fire on ice, he is a flying Frenchman, he is dangerous on ice.
Just thinking about Cheese Eating Surrender Monkies. Yes I am talking about the French Military. Since Napoleon they have been limp biscuit. There greatest victory is sinking

I have been talking to God

Fun game to watCH. About FHFucking time.
ReplyDeleteYay! I missed the 3rd period (had a game of my own to play) but was happy looking at the final score. And happy princess65 was -6.
ReplyDeleteThat was not a game any top five D men in the NHL have ever played unless they were hungover.
DeleteOh yeah, free wings!

Hey kids! Happy fuckin Halloween! Been doing stupid shift work so not ignoring you or the Habs...just too knackered to log in. So they have won 2 in a row and score a shit load of goals...bout time. Chucky will be fine but as soon as he improves that stupid dick will trade him for a 33 year old piece of shit d man...
ReplyDeleteAnd that, my friends is the reason attendance here at FHF has been on the wane...bbb has killed the spirit by trading away anything good and decent for something old and slow...just like he was as a player. PK Should never have gone. Vodkov should never have gone.Y should never have gone. I will be here as much as I can but these shifts are a killer so everyone hang in there. FWIW I have been following Brian Wilde on recrutes.ca and he is pretty fair. Calls a spade a spade. Oh yeah...Tremblay is a piece of shit beyond any comparison. And Moeman - you remain my hockey God! Go you fucking Habs go
I am right there with you K3X - don't have much time / means for following / posting, but I watched the highlights from last night and I love all my FHFriends' comments. Sometimes, indictments for Conspiracy Against the United States and Montreal mayoralty races and such are too eye-popping to spend too much time on hockey (heck, what good hockey if nuclear armageddon gets in the way? That's what I always say.)
ReplyDeleteLets send missals into the sun to get MOAR light
ReplyDeleteAs an original commenter to this blog, I think I am within rights to say that I still don't understand about 80% of what Steve says...i love it but I really don't get a lot of it and often find myself wanting to reply with ????? - this is one of those times...

Deletecause she is culturally appro the Eygiptians. Ok I admit its with scant material.
80+ comments. Pretty good.
ReplyDeleteI concur that the recent suckitude of DGMB's Habs has us in a doldrum but this joint has too much good to go away.

Sorry I've been in a coma and must be delusional because there was something about the Habs scoring 8 goals. Or it's a Halloween prank
ReplyDeleteNope, it was a treat.
DeleteGreat to have y'all drop by, even if just now and again. Like I said in the post sometimes life gets in the way.
ReplyDeleteK3x the best part of this gig is moeman's connections and 29's legal fortitude. So it's amazing what one can find on the dark Web.
http://montrealgazette.com/sports/hockey/nhl/hockey-inside-out/qa-with-canadiens-hall-of-famer-larry-robinson
ReplyDeleteIt completely boggles my mind why this organization continually snubs Larry.
ReplyDeleteFrom coaching to retiring his number.
Makes me seriously doubt the intelligence of the people in charge.
Go Habs
Agree...though they did retire his number.
DeleteI think Bargain Bin and Arrogant Fuckface were afraid of Larry. It's just carried over.
Deletewhen reality becomes an opionion you want the math on your side. Larry Math is not
Deletegoing to work on a gong show
Yes they did retire it.
DeleteThey waited till his father died.
Nice touch
Go Habs
JJ Daignault is the best D coach ever (said no one ever). I suspect the Big Bird would be too opinionated for Bergy's ego to handle, showcasing the Peter Principle is what sustains our DGMB. I think Robinson has nothing left to prove in any capacity beyond DG himself. D-coach is beneath him and would unacceptably cut into his polo time.
DeleteGagnon: Habs are stupid if they don't trade Galchenyuk for Kreider.
ReplyDeleteComing from the GAGnon who also said, when asked, he would have gone public with the re-hab story just like his cronie POS but the only difference he would have asked gCHuks' agent first
I guess GAGnon can relate to well to the word 'stupid'.
CHirchill stupid for not surrendering to on demand. I did that so many times
Deleteif you do not remember it in general I can be specific WAKE UP ZOMBIES
Gagnon is a dumb-ass. TFS would want to dump Kreider on his ass all game long any time he ventured too close anyway.
DeleteThis best stare down of 'em all. Even though pro-rags said there was a non-call. This is TFS's ice, he doesn't have to give it to CRYder.

I saw a link on tsn (I know I should no better) labeled who are the 5 worst teams right now. Curious I clicked on it. Andie (she could've been hot if not just another leaf shrill) Petrillo started the conversation and when she got to #5 couldn't decide between the Habs and Oilers. Then the chinless wonder started talking and I turned it off.
ReplyDeleteThe number of pieces the SFU have done labeling tops in the category, bottom of that category, worst at this, best at that, to suit their leaf's early (and only) success is quite laughable. Reality is sinking in and these 'professional articles' will dwindle and die. Should the leaf go 0 for out west like the Habs and the CH manage to win the next 2, the leaf is up by a single point. Gonna be enjoyable watching the SFU stew in their own stink.
Go Habs Go.
Time to CHime in;
ReplyDeleteAbout Big Bird. He has found a lot of success since retiring. How many budding young DMen did he help groom? A lot. I always imagined how he and PFK would've gotten along. To hear him say, via the media, that he'd still love to end his career in Montreal brings a tear to my eye. Apart from BBQ, no Habs D knows how to hit. How about moving the puck out of their zone, another #19 trait. The man lived and breathed the CH. His passion would bring back some of the lost lustre. I think Julien would have no issue with him but I'd prefer he play a similar role to Waite. JJD isn't a bad person and keeps his mouth shut but he is a serious weak link and only there because of DGMB and MT2 history. Larry parle très bien le Français. Le SFFU (Sick Fuck Français Uni) would NOT know how to even begin slagging Larry. They wouldn't even try. gagNON is a prick. I'll pad (see what I did there?) my comment with the idea that Serge Savard is probably the one that didn't reach out to Larry. Too many CHefs? Having said that, I'll stick to the idea of #33 as the Hockey Prez. Bonus, he'll tell the SFFU to STFU.
About the mediots.
ReplyDeleteThey can't help themselves as they are desperate to hype their team. 30 other teams get the smoke town shaft. I'll repeat myself endlessly, these people are shills and in my eyes professionally unethical, much like their team. Like most of you I'll check out the websites (I have yet to see one second of their tv content). Its horrendous to see the percentage of leaf coverage compared to 30 other teams. They have an agenda, simple as that. They could care less about the 6 other Canadian teams, much less the 25 south of our border. Although it may not be fake, they make up hockey news. Their radio shows generate the stupidest headlines. Babscock farts and they make it a 'story'. They even dig up marlie 'stories' to fill their bucket of CotU shit. tsn and sn are equals with sn cranking up the hate, mainly due to their rotted hnit roots. Lastly, they live to cater to leafools, the dumbest fanbase in all pro sports.
Excellent put-down and great analysis of CotU media shit. AS for leaf shills, they seem to groom more of those little fucks every day.
