Rick Nash’s long tenure in the Big Apple has come to an end. The Boston Bruins have acquired the veteran forward from the New York Rangers in exchange for a package that includes forwards Ryan Spooner and Matt Beleskey and a 2018 first round draft pick.
HA! I recognize that phone. Great Scott! We're on our way Commissioner! To the Batmobile Robin!!
Rags get a decent haul for Nash. Spooner, meh, Belesky a salary dump by the B's and probably a very late 1st round pick. Plus a middling prospect and a 7th. B's can walk away from Nash in July unless he performs miracles in the playoffs.
I was ashamed of the way the fans were booing Max last night, he didn't deserve that. I don't blame him for wanting out. It's disgraceful how talented players are treated in Montreal at times, especially the home grown ones.
Hnic showed bargainbin up in his perch last night, his hair is looking a little more grey...
So long Pleks. You were a great soldier and served a better fate than a trade to the fucking hockey cesspool of the world that is tranna ...no one ever deserves that kind of terrible treatment. But thank you for being a Hab. You will be missed.
Nash going for what he did - a 1st and a bunch more means the Habs should do ok with patches... he is 4 years younger and has a much better contract ...But that would mean bbb has to actually have a clue...
More dumpster diving ... two more wannabes or couldhavebeens and a 2nd rounder.
I'm chuckling to myself more and more these days. I've been perusing over at HEOTP, reading lots of comments and bergy bashing. I don't see any changes in management until the fans start revolting like they did back in the late 90's. Building not full, merchandise and beer sales down, when that goes on for a few years bergy's enabler will have no choice but to effect change.
Side note: I was reading Saturday's paper this morning and there was a message from the Telegraph-Journal's new editor-in-chief one Mike Therien. One less "r" in the spelling of the last name but ... could it be ... ??
This could still allow PleXXXe to play his 1,000th NHL regular season game as a CH (Laffs have just 18 games left this year and so he could only reach 999 by season's end). Thank you Tomas. Always been a classy Hab at the best and worst of the time. But I am with moeman when I say that I hope you win no Cup as a Laff.
I'll chime in also with a thank you to Tomas Plekanec. He might not win a Cup but I hope he helps eliminate the B's in the 1st round. I think I'll watch that series to see how he does.
well dont laff the leaf are a Mcdoungh away from being contenders. Good spot for SuperpleXXXe still close to home. Could have been the PEG!!I do not expect him back. He is a nice piece for a contending team.
Both prospects are just that, good pedgree on both but bubble players,
Slightly off topic but nice to see Virtue&Moir honour Gordie and The Hip in their final skate with 'A Long time running'. The slightly refers to the fact that there is ice and skates and its been a long time running since 1993.
WOW, pieces are falling left, right and center, the sfu will have sfa to talk about tomorrow.
The 'Turds are determined to get to the bottom of the league ... wonder how Guy Boucher feels about Eugene's salary dumping? He would be better off in Laval once numbnuts lefever gets the boot.
RIP baby Staal. Sometimes shit happens that make us remember that angsting over the quality of our hockey team is not really warranted as there are more important things in life. I can't imagine losing a child but hope the Staals remain strong and may they carry her in their hearts forever.
I watched the Preds this afternoon and Pang got a puck in the head from a Blues player(I think) that broke his headphones. Would have been sweet if it was from PFK.
So basically a 2nd for PleXXXe, pretty much what we thought. Too bad he didnz't have the Josh Gorges NFW clause. No Fucking Way am I playing for the leaf! Mind you this version of the leaf is a bit more palatable than the one Gorges was to be sent to. Love Plexx but nfw do I want him winning a cup with the leaf. And as much as I would like him to play game 1000 with the Habs in October, if he's interested in a cup he might have to consider moving. But if he wants to finish his career as a Hab, if the price is right I'd sign him for 2 more years.
Looking at the wild card race in the West, you've got to think L.A. and St. Louis want to make a move to get in there. Max, J&B, Schlep and T.O. Morrow have to be in play, possibly gCHuk. I think Montreal is going to be very, very young next season. Probably another top 5 pick in the future as it stands. I doubt J.T. or any other big name want to be part of any rebuild/tool/set. I'm actually OK with it. Jack Hughes and Alex Lefreniere would look damn good in Habs unis. Joey V. as well.
I gotta go with the Oil. 10 years of extreme futility, loads of top picks and sitting near the bottom of the barrel again. Imagine having that talent and being as terrible as our team!
But even thinking of trading EK seems inconceivable, but as we know, anybody can be traded. So who fucking knows.
Fat Bob doesn't think Patches will be traded at the deadline. #tradesarehard
I hope you are saying the same thing about Patches Monday. Except its permanent and we get a top center prospect for the first time in, well since gCHuck was drafted, sorry I forgot Druid was a top prospect center.
Dear Consul, what would it take for me to loose confidence in BBB, signed Mr Molson,
I cannot believe Lou Lamiorello made PleXXXe shave his conservative and neatly trimmed trademark goatee. What is this? The ’83 Cubs??? That's it; he'll resign with the Habs on July 1. Mark my words.
Praise baby Jebus she never let the stench of the SFU overtake her and remains true to her profession. That's something that can be said for nearly nobody else on any of those networks, save a few that remain loyal to their hometowns (Natasha Somethingski and the Oil comes to mind).
True and I think Lu has been mostly balanced. I think he likes Montreal (as a city) because it has style and culture, two things severely lacking at the CotU. Also, I think Lu once met our own extremely stylish 29 and it rubbed off on him. NTTIAWWT.
This was one trade bait guy I couldn't understand. An elite 28 year old D no longer fits in a rebuild? WTF? Did Jeff Gorton take GM lessons from bargainbin? Nash and Grabner sure, older ufa's to be get what you can.
TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie reports the Vegas Golden Knights tried hard, but could not acquire Erik Karlsson. Karlsson will be staying with the Sens
Ha! These fuckers are insanely desperate to make news out of nothing. How are they not embarrassed by their actions? Ego I guess.
Also: make use of that CAP space?? A season-long issue for the fans paying through the nose for a sub-par product (not me - I can't afford even a Laval Rockets game).
Glad to hear they're OK. I wonder if this will make it to air on Highway Thru Hell? When I worked in BC I did a small amount of work on the design of this...before realizing I was out of my element and wanted nothing to do with it.
Waiting for the winds of change To sweep the clouds away Waiting for the rainbow's end To cast its gold your way Countless ways You pass the days Waiting for someone to call And turn your world around Looking for an answer to The questions you have found Looking for An open door Oh you don't get something for nothing You don't get freedom for free You won't get wise With the sleep still in your eyes No matter what your dreams might be No you don't get something for nothing You dcan't have freedom for free You won't get wise With the sleep still in your eyes No matter what your dream might be What you own is your own kingdom What you do is your own glory What you love is your own power What you live is your own story In your head is the answer Let it guide you along Let your heart be the anchor And the beat of your song Oh you don't get something for nothing You can't have freedom for free, no Whoa you don't get something for nothing You can't have freedom for free
Thought I'd try out the draft lottery simulator and first spin Habs get pick #1.
Is Dahlen the next EK? Does he step into a major role as an 18 year old defenceman, whichever bottom feeder he ends up on? I've not seen him play other than the WJ and I don't recall. Thar said a core of Dahlen, Mete and Juulsen is good start to getting this D back to where it should currently be anyway.
Also that elusive centre that is apparently impossible to attain should be a draft goal.
Good looking series called Caught starting on CBC tonight, with Paul Gross, Alan Hawco and a slew of other notable Canadian actors including Saul Rubinek, who has been in a shitload of shows and movies during his career.
I think Clod was just saving Max from being booed if he missed, Max has been taking enough grief lately.
I only watched the 2nd period, I was glad to see the youngsters getting good minutes. Still, there's not much there. Long way to go as they throw away one or two more seasons.
Reading Max's comments after last night's game, good for him coming clean. Bergevin has let this team down, big time. From having no decent centers to assembling one of the worst defences I've ever seen in a Montreal Canadiens uniform in 50 years of watching what did the fans expect. Fuck, I knew back in September this team was going nowhere and I'm nobody. Max is not to blame for this mess. If I was him, I'd put my head down for the rest of this season and score as many goals as I could. Fuck backchecking. Fuck passing off to somebody else. I'd shoot from anywhere and everywhere and get as close to 25 as possible. Same thing next year if he's not traded. Never mind winning, I would be selfish, put as many numbers as possible, full Ovechkin mode. Especially if what Bergevin says is true about being safe in his position as GM. It's going to get worse before it gets better. Look out for Number One Max, nobody else will.
Rick Nash’s long tenure in the Big Apple has come to an end. The Boston Bruins have acquired the veteran forward from the New York Rangers in exchange for a package that includes forwards Ryan Spooner and Matt Beleskey and a 2018 first round draft pick.
ReplyDeleteAm I crazy to think that is a big pricetag for a 33 year old Rick Nash?
ReplyDeleteHard to say as evaluating the players moved and a late pick might be enough in this deal.
DeleteI would rather have fiver than spooner or bleks
DeleteBBB sees the phone flashing red and is afraid to answer in case he gets burned.
ReplyDeleteThough that should set the MAX value for our captain...you know, if we had competent management.
ReplyDeleteMAX should be the shinest pony in the window right now.
DeleteMake the trade with LA, take the kid who cant skate and gaborik plus at least a second.
HA! I recognize that phone. Great Scott! We're on our way Commissioner! To the Batmobile Robin!!

Turtlepleks a leaf... Gulp!
ReplyDeletePleXXX is a Leaf - we'll see the CoTU start dubbing him the next Great One any second now
ReplyDeleteGreat Hab but here's hoping PleXXXe doesn't win a Cup.
DeleteHe has gone to tranna...no cup for him I am afraid...

PleXXXe a laff? BBB has no shame. Classless.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your dedication to Montreal Canadiens.
'Habs now have 9 picks in the upcoming 2018 Draft, 4 of those picks are in the 2nd round'
ReplyDeleteAlso, maybe PleXXXe comes back this summer? (Not if dgmb is still there and my guess he is, still there).
This could still allow PleXXXe to play his 1,000th NHL regular season game as a CH (Laffs have just 18 games left this year and so he could only reach 999 by season's end). Thank you Tomas. ReplyDeleteI hope he 'plays like a little girl'.
DeleteHeh Heh, he'll never live that down...
DeleteThe laffs are looking for D too, I'm surprised bergy didn't send one of his stiffs there as well.
I think J&B will be moved.
DeleteSo, who exactly are the Habs centers now? Drouin, Danno, $ and Fiver...? Yikes! That's awful.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't be surprised to see them try Kerby (nickname 'vacuum'?) at an off-position.
DeleteI believe bbb wants him to be a centerman. Apparently he saw him play it once in high school...
Deletewell dont laff the leaf are a Mcdoungh away from being contenders. Good spot for SuperpleXXXe still close to home. Could have been the PEG!!I do not expect him back. He is a nice piece for a contending team.
ReplyDeleteBoth prospects are just that, good pedgree on both but bubble players,
And in this corner...Brian Gionta signs up with the Broons for 700K
ReplyDeletePocket change for a good guy.

ReplyDeleteCarbo was talking about a 25th reunion this year. I don't think I like that. Feels too "leafy" to celebrate 25 years of failure.

ReplyDeleteThe 'Turds are determined to get to the bottom of the league ... wonder how Guy Boucher feels about Eugene's salary dumping? He would be better off in Laval once numbnuts lefever gets the boot.
Seems there is at least two franchise picks. We won the draft on my second try.

R.I.P. baby girl. Heaven wanted an angel back.
DeleteI would like to see Plexxxe return next year and then become a skills coach for the 200 ft game.
ReplyDeletevery sad, parents should not outlive children
ReplyDeleteJeff Molsons review of the Titanic movie. Fake news that ship was unsinkable.
ReplyDeletePleXXXe's presser leads us to believe that there is a possibility he'll be back. Maybe BBB was just yanking his CHain.
ReplyDeleteI watched the Preds this afternoon and Pang got a puck in the head from a Blues player(I think) that broke his headphones. Would have been sweet if it was from PFK.

DeleteHeh Buff beating broons. Win win in my books.
ReplyDeleteWho's got the bigger tire fire ... Montreal, Edmonton or Ottawa?
ReplyDeleteI vote Ottawa, their fans are really getting fucked over.
Ottawa is going for a true rebuild. Old time Expansion club style. I think the M is just waiting until he can get half a billion for the team.

ReplyDeleteBrand new album, out in March.
Deletetsn trade deadline. Nothing to see here folks. Tune in about 2:00 eastern and maybe something will happen.
ReplyDeleteOnly saving grace is the gorgeous and un-biased/well-informed Sara Orlesky.

DeleteI forgot about Lu because I so rarely tune into the network anymore.
Preds made it official; signed Fisher for a cool Million to play out the season. Nice
ReplyDeleteClassy GM.
DeleteAnd they called up sCHerbak. Which is good regardless of whomever gets moved out today.
ReplyDeleteNow let him stick for the season (which I think happens because the minimum player rule goes into effect?).
DeleteYeah I think they have the rosters extended and set now. Wherefore art thou, McCarron?
DeleteI miss Gene Gene the Dancing Machine (SWIDT theM.?).
ReplyDeleteZzzzzzzzzzz.... Huh? What?

DeleteMike Reilly is a 5th or 6th Defenseman. Another D-man in our DGMB's spittin' image
ReplyDeleteAnother pylon that can't skate? Figures. Prepare for more of the same next season. Shampoo, rinse, repeat.
DeleteHe is a fast skater and has offensive upside, but barely hits at all, apparently.
DeleteSo with BBQ out for the season and toMorrow gone, that leaves:
ReplyDeletePetry-Alzner-Schlemko-Benn-Mete-Juulsen
Am I forgetting somebody? Cuz I would like to see JuJu/Jewel/Gem (needs a nick) stay up for the remainder of the season and get real ice time.
Good stuff.

Wait, who are those people?
DeleteYegads I gotta watch a game or two
And Reilly now
DeleteJuulsen needs a nick, Gem fits. Diamond in the rough or then again we may be jaded.
DeleteReilly could = Life of or just Life (if he has anyone as a Hab).
Family Juuls? FJ?
DeleteWaiting for duthie to call Scott Gomez.
ReplyDeleteWe absolutely must give the new guy the nick of Lick-a-paint in honour of the great construction contractor O'Reilly
ReplyDeleteAdd 'Lick' to the list.
DeleteJuulsen could also be nicked;
ReplyDeleteBijou as in Bijuuls
I'm surprised Clod let his souvenir broon get traded.

Dep.
DeleteMust be good in the room.
DeleteOf course. The answer is in the room, etc. We'd hate to see a lack of dep defencemen as they lose the last 20 meaningless games of meaninglessness

Waiting for the winds of change
To sweep the clouds away
Waiting for the rainbow's end
To cast its gold your way

Waiting for someone to call

Looking for an answer to
The questions you have found
Looking for
An open door
Oh you don't get something for nothing
You don't get freedom for free
You won't get wise
With the sleep still in your eyes
No matter what your dreams might be
No you don't get something for nothing
You dcan't have freedom for free
You won't get wise
With the sleep still in your eyes
No matter what your dream might be
What you own is your own kingdom
What you do is your own glory
What you love is your own power
What you live is your own story
In your head is the answer
Let it guide you along
Let your heart be the anchor
And the beat of your song
Oh you don't get something for nothing
You can't have freedom for free, no
Whoa you don't get something for nothing
