  1. Rick Nash’s long tenure in the Big Apple has come to an end. The Boston Bruins have acquired the veteran forward from the New York Rangers in exchange for a package that includes forwards Ryan Spooner and Matt Beleskey and a 2018 first round draft pick.

  2. Am I crazy to think that is a big pricetag for a 33 year old Rick Nash?

    1. Hard to say as evaluating the players moved and a late pick might be enough in this deal.

Make the trade with LA, take the kid who cant skate and gaborik plus at least a second.

HA! I recognize that phone. Great Scott! We're on our way Commissioner! To the Batmobile Robin!!

Rags get a decent haul for Nash. Spooner, meh, Belesky a salary dump by the B's and probably a very late 1st round pick. Plus a middling prospect and a 7th. B's can walk away from Nash in July unless he performs miracles in the playoffs.

I was ashamed of the way the fans were booing Max last night, he didn't deserve that. I don't blame him for wanting out. It's disgraceful how talented players are treated in Montreal at times, especially the home grown ones.

Hnic showed bargainbin up in his perch last night, his hair is looking a little more grey...

More dumpster diving ... two more wannabes or couldhavebeens and a 2nd rounder.

I'm chuckling to myself more and more these days. I've been perusing over at HEOTP, reading lots of comments and bergy bashing. I don't see any changes in management until the fans start revolting like they did back in the late 90's. Building not full, merchandise and beer sales down, when that goes on for a few years bergy's enabler will have no choice but to effect change.

Side note: I was reading Saturday's paper this morning and there was a message from the Telegraph-Journal's new editor-in-chief one Mike Therien. One less "r" in the spelling of the last name but ... could it be ... ??

  11. PleXXXe a laff? BBB has no shame. Classless.

Thank you for your dedication to Montreal Canadiens.

  12. 'Habs now have 9 picks in the upcoming 2018 Draft, 4 of those picks are in the 2nd round'

Also, maybe PleXXXe comes back this summer? (Not if dgmb is still there and my guess he is, still there).

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. This could still allow PleXXXe to play his 1,000th NHL regular season game as a CH (Laffs have just 18 games left this year and so he could only reach 999 by season's end). Thank you Tomas. Always been a classy Hab at the best and worst of the time. But I am with moeman when I say that I hope you win no Cup as a Laff.

I'll chime in also with a thank you to Tomas Plekanec. He might not win a Cup but I hope he helps eliminate the B's in the 1st round. I think I'll watch that series to see how he does.

  26. So basically a 2nd for PleXXXe, pretty much what we thought. Too bad he didnz't have the Josh Gorges NFW clause. No Fucking Way am I playing for the leaf! Mind you this version of the leaf is a bit more palatable than the one Gorges was to be sent to. Love Plexx but nfw do I want him winning a cup with the leaf. And as much as I would like him to play game 1000 with the Habs in October, if he's interested in a cup he might have to consider moving. But if he wants to finish his career as a Hab, if the price is right I'd sign him for 2 more years.

Looking at the wild card race in the West, you've got to think L.A. and St. Louis want to make a move to get in there. Max, J&B, Schlep and T.O. Morrow have to be in play, possibly gCHuk. I think Montreal is going to be very, very young next season. Probably another top 5 pick in the future as it stands. I doubt J.T. or any other big name want to be part of any rebuild/tool/set. I'm actually OK with it. Jack Hughes and Alex Lefreniere would look damn good in Habs unis. Joey V. as well.

I only watched the 2nd period, I was glad to see the youngsters getting good minutes. Still, there's not much there. Long way to go as they throw away one or two more seasons.

  66. the Maritimer7:53 AM

Reading Max's comments after last night's game, good for him coming clean. Bergevin has let this team down, big time. From having no decent centers to assembling one of the worst defences I've ever seen in a Montreal Canadiens uniform in 50 years of watching what did the fans expect. Fuck, I knew back in September this team was going nowhere and I'm nobody. Max is not to blame for this mess. If I was him, I'd put my head down for the rest of this season and score as many goals as I could. Fuck backchecking. Fuck passing off to somebody else. I'd shoot from anywhere and everywhere and get as close to 25 as possible. Same thing next year if he's not traded. Never mind winning, I would be selfish, put as many numbers as possible, full Ovechkin mode. Especially if what Bergevin says is true about being safe in his position as GM. It's going to get worse before it gets better. Look out for Number One Max, nobody else will.
