... she shook me up and she still does ...
The Cars 'The Cars' album is fantastic. An all-time fave. I listened to it 1000s of times. Every song, over and over. Had to flip that fucking album over so many times. So well-produced.
ReplyDeleteThe Cars were a lousy live band. Saw them twice. They sounded like shit. (check out the song of the day).
Lots of great songs. Alternative pop. Not an as 'labelled' punk band, not even a true 'alternative band'. A very good pop band.
'Shake it up' is an addictive tune. Thanks to Kijiji, I love it again. Kijiji does great ads.
Paulina was/is/remains a goddess.
Oh, and
DIE BROONS DIE! (AND FUCK THE SFU!)
When we were kids, the line we thought we heard in that song was: "Don't let nobody pick your bone" (titters)
DeleteThe Cars were cool. But two Boston bands were better: The Pixies and Dinosaur Jr.
I have never really gotten into the Pixies, but they are on my list. Where is my mind is top shelf of all time.

Since no rookie tourney in the cough cough Fordnation this brought a huge smile. Former Mrs Ocasek a goddess. That 1st album is awesome. Ranks up there with Pretenders 1. The subsequent tour and show @ The Forum not so much. Watching paint dry is more interesting. The opening band Bram Tchaikovsky however with the song “Girl of my dreams” as the one-hit seems appropriate for Mr Porizkova.
DeleteGreat parody Moeman. I am excited for this game only because it will tell us all a lot about what kind of team we have this season. As always...Just fucking win! Go You Fucking Habs Go!
ReplyDeleteGreat job moe!!
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures of the Rocket (your namesake).
I like the Cars, I have that album also and the one with the Vargas girl plus Heartbeat City with the Dodge Demon 340 Wedge. Love that cover. That's why I love vinyl, great cover art. CD's are shit.
Now that the leaf are good (supposedly) sn/tsn/hnit are relentless in promoting their darlings, the rest of Canada not so much. I hope the Jets kick the snot out of those fuckers tonight. I'm not sure if I can join you FHFolks tonight, depends on what Mrs. Maritimer wants to do. I will set the PVR and watch tomorrow morning for sure or, later in the evening if not to late.
Hey Jack Edwards -- suck my left nut you fucking clam chowderhead!!
BTW, who is Paulina?
Cheers!
If that was not a rhetorical question, she married Cars lead singer.
DeleteOne of the original 'supermodels', once known as Mrs. Ric Ocasek.
Deletehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paulina_Porizkova
DeleteOK, I didn't know about her.
DeleteI went to Montreal and then skiing in Vermont in 1980. One of the bars had a Cars cover band and it was fantastic. One of my friends might have smuggled some Canadian Bacon over the border, crazy.
ReplyDeletePlease Jewel destroy ratface. Please Kidko score. Please win FFS.
Have to beat those feckers tonight no matter what! Then I’m off to Exuma early tomorrow AM.
ReplyDeleteJambalaya!
ReplyDeleteHey kids. Me and my youngest tuning in from Saint Jean de Port Joli, about an hour east of Quebec City. This town literally smells like shit.
ReplyDelete9.5 hours of driving today and 5 more or so to Ottawa tomorrow.
Just beat these fuckers.
Wait til you hit Turso.
DeleteSafe travels bro.
DeleteThanks man. Good highways most of the way.
DeleteBeauty by kidA!
ReplyDeleteNoice!
DeleteDomini!
ReplyDeleteliking it so far. Leko needs to work on his finnish. He seems to have lost his shot.
ReplyDeleteNice win, not pretty but nice, TFS earned the shuttie.
ReplyDeleteIn other news the glass shoulder of Shaggy seems to have broken. Toronto has put out a call for Dr Rechi so you know its serious.
ReplyDeleteEat shit SFU.
ReplyDeleteSuck it Jack Edwards.
Yes sir! A shuttie for TFS. Max and KidA are on fire and I am starting to think that this team is for real.. .not gonna get too excited yet - just saying.
ReplyDeleteYep. It was a good game.
DeleteDano out-faceoffed Bergeron.
Congrats to TFS!
Woke up to snow and freezing rain. Should be a fun trip rest of the way.
ReplyDeleteRe Shaggy (first, why Shaggy?, second, that is exactly why I didn't take him in my pool)...be interesting if he's out for a long period to see if the leaf cave to Willie.
Re our Habs, while there are certainly shortcomings (not a height joke), esp on defence, the speed game is impressive. And thouh he won't be a part of that aspect of the game, BBQ has to be finally excited to play for this team while watching what they can do from the sidelines. If he can be close to a 2012 version of Shea Weber, and with a few minor adjustments this team could very well find themselves in the playoffs.
Not getting too excited, just that there is hope, something that's been missing for a couple of years.
Shaggy son of Mike Myers and Scooby Doo. I feel bad for Shaggy, being drafted by the leaf its bad Karma.
DeleteHeard an interesting opinion on 690 not sure who. "speed does not slump"
I am still not convinced KidKo is best served in NHL. (and FFS give him to Underhill, Barbra not Frank) I hope they send him to Worlds.
Sympathies to all those affected in Pittsburg.
ReplyDeleteAdded a thoughtful image from the Steelers organization.
Sympathies indeed. But even if the elections are fair enough to flip both houses, the Inciter in Chief needs to stifle it. Of course, he won't. He has his powder keg all juiced up and he's ready to keep setting it off. He - and his completely co-opted Rethuglican party - is effectively at war with America. It's wretched; it's obscene; it's disgusting. I just want to put this one out here with its line: "Let the strength of peace run through this land" cuz nothing else is making me feel okay right now. The Storm
DeleteNice find.
Deletewe dont need to have a fund raiser for America like Yukoslavia. Its easy to gain power through hate, but its love that keeps us togehter.
DeleteMy sympathies as well, the temple should be a sanctuary for all people. I dont even want to go to the US anymore, ok maybe Hawaii.
ReplyDeleteWhen you're weary, feeling small
When tears are in your eyes, Trouba will dry them all (all)
He's on your side, oh, when times get rough
And shoulder pads just can't be found
Like a freight train derailing over troubled blue paint
Trouba will lay shaggy down
OK, my football team really, really sucks. Time to go for the back up team. Go Pack!!
ReplyDeleteWhat, they lost too? Oof...
Hey Toronto media ... would you like some cheese with that whine?? Boo fucking hoo to you!
ReplyDeletepoor wittle leaf without Shaggy they cant close the real estate deal. Tonite we tie them for first place and have will still have a game in hand.
ReplyDeleteThe billionaire soccer team owner who died sure had a beautiful executive assistant. If I were a billionaire I would never fly in a private plane or helicopter, scuba dive or submarine. Also not going to climb Mt Everest or BASE jump.
Habs in Halloween costume. LHN's girl stands out, and Dano as Harry Potter.
Gameday thread up later.
