From what I read, Turnover Machine put in a half-assed effort last night, Jabba the Bear Shit Stained Coach should bench his sorry, lazy ass for a game or two. The francophone SFU would have a fit but they fuck right off too.

    1. Agree but the few that I've read/heard (in the francophone SFU) have said as much.

  3. Oh look, leftover meatloaf!

Also, first time I used oats instead of bread crumbs (cuz I ran out) and it is a perfect replacement.

  6. I been eating hamburger steak my whole life when real steak was just one more door. I gotta say honestly I like good hamburg better than steak. So what does this all mean. It means we have a team hambburger
going into the grinder, and at the end of the day after all the flame has been applied, it might taste stan ly
Every cup we every one has been magic, and surely there is still magic in the 21st century.

I make burgers with Lea and Perrins steak sauce, Montreal steak spice and bread crumbs. They taste like a Stanley Cup winner, fried or bbq'd.

      Nice!

br00ns pummeling Minnesota, why can't bargainbin's team do that? Nine losses in a row ffs.

  8. Exciting minute to start the 2nd. Kind of meh since then.
Made a salad from lettuce, shredded carrots and purple cabbage, added chicken, seven layer dip and a few nachos for some crunch. Voila, a Mexican Chicken Salad and it was fantastic.

Broons and Barfalo both crushing it tomight. Best win to stay with the pack...it's a slippery slope. Isles are losing by 1 in the 3rd.

Playoffs, no playoffs, I'm OK either way. If they do get in they are looking at TB or Wash and a quick exit but maybe gain some valuable experience. They are not there yet, stay the course, build from within, keep gathering assets at the deadline. Somebody looking for some depth should be willing to take Wrong Benn, Schlo-mo and maybe even Alzzzzzzzz... for some 4th or 5th rounders.

    3. At this point I say playoffs because they have just enough talent to not lose enough for a decent shot at a high draft pick. So might as well at least play 4 playoff games in May.

      Agree.

    5. I guess that would be April. May would be great though.

  9. I see a couple of articles about Bergy's mid season report or one on one interview not sure. Anyway when asked about the trade deadline he says he won't be trading away the future. I remember him stating emphatically that a certain defenceman wasn't on the trade block and 2 days later we had our curent captain on our team. Point being the sfu outlets report it as fact. MB said it so it must be true. Have they learned nothing? Oh wait they just don't actually care is the thing.

  11. Let me put on my rose coloured glasses for this post.

The way I see it there is little chance the Habs win a series from either wildcard position. 8th gets you Tampa Bay. Nope. 7th gets you either the Caps (nope) or a surging Penguins (smaller nope).
So as the team is clearly not in the #LoseforHughes race, the option is to move up. They are only 5 and 3 points behind the leaf and broon respectively with those teams having 2 and 1 games in hand respectively.

They play 6 games in 10 days starting tomorrow. They need to win 4 of 6 at least, including the game against the broon. Blues, BJ's, Panthers, Flyers are all winnable. The Avs are in there too.

Then they have 3 days off, play the Yotes. Then off for NINE days as their mandated 5 days off follows All Star weekend.

So in two weeks after game 51 is played I think we'll have a real idea where this team is going to likely fit in the grand scheme. In the playoffs or out? Wildcard or a 2-3 seeding? Obviously there are still 30 games to go after that but it should be much more clear at that point.

I like Peter the Brown doing the Habs analysis on TSN. He is knowledgeable and grew up a Habs fan. The SFU tried to turn him but he's remained (mostly) impartial and has kept most of that stain off of him. Anyway, one thing I disagree with is he said last night that the Habs' schedule gets a lot tougher after their break.

I just had a look and it actually gives me more hope for the team. They have 3 back to backs in February, but all of the teams in those games (aside from TB) are not even in a current playoff spot. In fact 8 of the 13 games in the month are against current non-playoff teams. 2 are big 4 point games against the leaf.

March is a bit tougher but not so terrible. Only 2 b2b's and one is in California (where I always consider .500 hockey a win for this team). 10 games against non-playoff teams (though a few bubble teams) and 5 against playoff teams.

Now the last 3 games of the season in April are vs Lightning, at Caps, vs Leafs. So by game 79 it will be a good plan to have cemented that #3 seed or better.

All this to say things are looking up. If ol' Bergy can upgrade the D without mortgaging the future at the trade deadline I think this team could even win a series or two.

    JKFW(ing) boys! GYFHG.

Great post. Injuries always play a part in these things, but all things being equal, the br00ns will only get better from here on. The leaf are not the juggernaut the sycophantic SFU would have you believe. They are vulnerable. However, I don't believe the Habs have the depth on defence or scoring wingers to do much. And I don't believe Poehling, Suzuki or any other prospect are going to save the day. Not trying to be negative just realistic.

All that being said, it would be sweet for the fucking leaf to fall flat on their faces and the Habs pass them in the standings. That would be a Win in my books.

    2. Great stuff St. Pad and theM.

I agree with most of it.

I, too, think a playoff spot is not out of the conversation.

A few players need to wake up or get back to their better play (Druid, Domini).

The team may yet gel just in time to make a fun run. Imagine playing and beating the leaf. Icing baby!

Staying in the present (leave the prospects for a future discussion), dgmb has cap space and what is now (seemingly) a better plan. Who knows.

As for LeBrun, he is great and also does a regular spot on RDS.

    3. I'm not suggesting for a moment that any prospects be brought in 'to save the day'. Also don't trade them for a rental. As moe stated, we need some guys to get back to their ways from the beginning of the season. We knew their scoring pace would decline, but they need to bring it back a bit towards middle. If there's a good defensive dman to be found without getting trade raped in the process go for it. And maybe Juulsen's time in Laval will do wonders for him like it did for Mete.

And agreed beating the leaf in the playoffs would be beyond golden. Losing to them however would be painful as hell.

@Saint Paddy ... I wasn't implying anything by what you said, and bargainbin already stated there will be no trading prospects for rentals (he better not by lying). But as moe said, he has a ton of cap space to maybe take some expiring contracts at the deadline and maybe add a bit to the cupboard. That should be the only play.

    5. I think we're (mostly) all on the same page. :-)

My front yard is a lake. Raining like hell but the frozen ground and layer of ice that was there isn't giving way. And the roads all look like rivers. Gonna be a whole lot of fun when it freezes over the next couple of days.
