  5. Remember when Boom Boom Geoffrion passed away and hnit decided to fuck over his ceremony to show one for Tie Domi (I know ironic now). Y'all think their leaf vs. the last place Sens will be slightly postponed to show what should be a super ceremony for TFS™?

    Greetings FHFriends and Slainte!!

The ol' Maritimer and his soul mate have returned from an overnight stay in Moncton, N.B. and attending a Foreigner concert at Casino NB. Reliving our youth of the 80's, those guys put on a spectacular rock show and I saw/heard probably the best drum solo in my life. My favourite Foreigner song is 'Urgent' with a great sax riff in the middle and at the end. Really enjoyable evening!

We just had corned beef and cabbage aka 'Jiggs dinner'. Tasty!

Time for a beer and some Irish whiskey... JFW!!

Had to step out for a bit. Habs have no Finnish. No pun intended. No Finnish = no playoffs. No playoffs = no extra coin for Geoffy.

As this season goes down in flames after a valiant effort for 3/4 of it, I at least have hope that the future will bring a #1 center (Kid KoHo) and possibly a #2 in Poeh Bear. Hopefully. with an upgrade on the D and julien sent packing, the playoffs will make a return to Montreal.

  50. Well well well it seems some murdered our scoring, and our PP, and our D. Its the crime of the century. Only I Horatio Bargin Basement can solve it. Can we go back in time and undo the Druid deal? Its looking like a massacre. As M says we can hope for better next year. However Kid Ko is not going to be a number one center for at least 2 more years. Poeh Bear might need a year in the Rocket. Look at hotshot Jake Evans, he may never even make the show. WE got nothing on D, Kale may be healthy but he is not a number two and our number one is fading faster than poloriod left in the rain. This team is right back where it started, let TFS squeak out wins and the other 5 skaters are going in circles and hitting the post if lucky.

Just like we did after getting 3rd overall with gCHuck we should have tanked this year and got another top pick. Now we might get Nature 2, first Bros since the tits.
We really only have one move. Sign Karlson or bust.

  51. the Maritimer10:37 AM

Habs have reverted to the norm; small, soft, perimeter playing team where most of the forwards refuse to go the high percentage scoring areas, aka the danger zone. When was the last time you ever saw Drouin in front of the net? Maybe in Halifax? The Habs can still make it but a lot of things have to go their way.

gCHuk scored a couple nice ones last night. Just sayin'.

Yep, time for julien and Captain Kirk to move on, Ducharme can find some hotshot PP coach in the Q to help him but they need somebody beside the pint-size kidG to get in front of these NHL goalies who are all over 6-5 it seems.

I should have mitigated my statement above about Kid KoHo and Poehbear, they are in the pipeline for the #1 and 2 roles but need time and grooming obviously.

    1. They've slipped back into a pop gun offense. Weird as they started fast, literally.

Coach CJ still has value and I doubt dgmb will move him out.

PP needs Dano on it. He takes the faceoff and then plants himself in front of the goalie.

      Happy St. Patrick's Day!

    2. the Maritimer10:54 AM

I have to respectfully disagree about cj. His antiquated idea of running his 4th line out there all the time when down a goal or two is ridiculous. Why is AWD on the PP FFS? He's only got a year or two left on his contract, get rid of him.

      Delete
    3. I mean he's still a good NHL coach but if there's a shakeup it could lead to changes in how the youngsters get used.

      Delete
    4. IMO...if the Habs don't make the show CJ must go...

      Delete
    5. Hey Hey Hey My my. CJ took a team projected by everyone to be a bottom feeder and nearly made the playoffs. I do not throw him away. What is wrong with the PP this makes my bladder hurt?

      Delete
    6. We see our side of it. Coach might see further than us (like: next game, etc. Plus, when was the last time Corey Crawford didn't stand on his head in front of his friends and family at home? So if he is ON like only a multiple Stanley Cup winner can be, and our Stanley Cup winning coach sees that, and doesn't want his youngsters to suffer any extra pointless minutes thinking it's THEIR FAULT the puck's not going in...

Plus, season ain't over yet. Jussayin'

    ReplyDelete
  54. the Maritimer9:02 PM

Reading some of the headlines by Habs reporters on Twitter and some of the comments ... seems like I'm not alone in my assessment that julien has gone back to his old ways ... play the vets and bench the youngsters and abandon the speed game that served them so well. When Boston hired Don Sweeney he started to convert the br00nz to the speed game and got younger and had to fire julien who couldn't/wouldn't adapt. Numbnuts bergevin should be able to figure that out. Maybe.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Not a bad observation, all things being equal. However, Crawford clearly came to play. CJ saw it and didn't want to expose his young team any more than he had to. Let those with Cup rings do their thing. Those of us lacking same are not in a great position to judge IMHO

      Delete
  55. This has been a pretty unexpectedly good season for the Hans and I have, for the most part, remained pretty positive. But the season ended on Saturday night for me. The Habs are not going to make the show if they play like that again. That was last year's team I watched vs. Chicago. If the playoffs don't start for them TODAY this season is lost. And one more thing - I am sorry to rag on someone who is having a "career" season, but Droiun is a floater that the Habs can't afford. Every great team has a floater - so nothing new there...but that floater is usually the best goal scorer on the ice...Drouin isn't even close. Hans need a new motto on the wall..."NO PASSENGERS "

    ReplyDelete
  56. the Maritimer9:41 AM

Philthy and FLA are not that far behind. The 12th overall pick could be had. In the event they don't make it.

I agree with K3X, the Habs were fun to watch for the most part this year. But, they have run out of gas or, are being forced to play "safe" hockey by the dinosaur era coach. And, they do need a power forward to take the spotlight off Drouin. He is Kessel-like, a good secondary player. bargainbin has about $10mil cap space, surely he can lure a significant UFA scorer to YUL, or even better offer sheet somebody...

  58. So some discussion about KidKo being sheltered or why not just put him on a productive line.

I say go for broke and give him the next 10 games on the 1st or second line. He's also defensively responsible, actually one of the best in the league.

    Replies
    1. Kidko needs 8 points! That is all the Habs have left to play for this season. Just get him 8 more points and the season is a success!
