I'll echo Chester's comment ... very nice indeed. Tastefully sexy.

I always liked that scene in Blade Runner when Roy Batty just ... passes on...

Meanwhile, I took a peek over at the leaf cesspool known as snet and the jackal is switching numbers and the putrid fucking leaf are flexing their "financial muscle". ha ha, fuck off leafools... and how come they haven't signed their little superstar yet with all that so called muscle?

  3. Moey is a mermaid, I knew it. Good tribute to Roy Batty. All my life I have felt wrong, so I finally went to the doctor. He told me I have a belter heart. Lots of problems with that especialy earths gravity.

  4. Nice.

Spent the day yesterday at the Stan Rogers Folk Festival in Canso, NS. Little town at the end of the earth not far from Mrs Pad's maternal homestead.

Best thing about festivals like this is finding (or confirming) new music and artists that one may not have otherwise sought out. Now this is more Mrs Pad's jam as she is more into the deep roots folk than I, but when the opening act of the day is The Atlantic String Machine, a 5 piece string Quintet, and they play Enter Sandman, I was hooked. Metallica is at or near the top of my playlist every time.

And aside from those guys, as I do love me some strings too, found a number of great acts to check out deeper.

  5. Had to cut my thoughts short. Garrett Mason, son of legendary NS Blues man, Dutchie Mason was amazing. He's come a long way and can play the blues guitar like nobody's business.

Dave Gunning is a true showman and songwriter. Played through a power outage by belting out ballads while walking through the crowd.

The Small Glories, a duet from the prairies can harmonize the hell out of a song and have a fantastic stage presence with humour and jest.

If you like 'downhome traditional' music, Vishtèn is an Acadian group from PEI and Coig a Celtic group from Cape Breton.

Some other stuff was good, some not to my taste, some a bit too earnest in their dirges.

All in all, a good day, albeit a sober one.

I hear Prime's The Boys is a good comedy adventure superhero show worth checking out... And only 8 episodes.

    1. I just binged on a UK show from and shot in Wales - "Keeping Faith" - 2 series worth - 14 episodes total - really good stuff...

Also - started watching "Manifest" - about a plane full of people who land 5 years after taking off - might be a couple years old now but only just made it over here...I'm about 14 episodes in and it's running the risk of getting a bit "lost" like in its plotline but we shall see. Anyone seen it?

      Delete
    2. I like Discovery. It has flaws. I wish Lorca was still around. There are characters I'd rather see die. But I'm interested to see where it goes. Hey, I made it through the cheese that was Enterprise (Jolene didn't hurt in that regard mind you...).

I saw Manifest and thought exactly that it looked too "Lost"ish. So didn't check it out.

    3. BTW I did not watch Lost. But heard enough from friends that did...

    4. OITNB final season is very good but not great.

    5. I love Manifest. Its cheesy but the babe is a cheesy babe. I am two deep into Another Life and still interested.

Blade Runner is deep. First the sets at that time are as good as anything we have now without the tech. Everyone has copied this neon slimy multistory flying car version of the future. Best case 5th Element. Secondly it asks a very moral question, if we create human life, can we just extinguish at our pleasure, what is life? Third soundtrack by Vageliss. Fourth, the Frank Lyod Wright house as a prop in the next century. I have to admit, I have watched it 3 or 4 times as the versions have come out, and sometime been bored, because I know the future.

  11. So I am going to incur the wrath of many here...I have never seen Blade Runner...Always struck me as not my kind of film (not a sci-fi person) but I will now make an attempt to watch it. Didn't really know the quality of the actors involved.

Is it just me or is this off-season a lot quieter than normal? No real significant signings b ut a lot of RFA's still out there looking for a deal that the team they are with will match...which begs the question (and this is legit) What purpose does it serve to be an RFA? If you are shit, you'll be allowed to leave. If you are good, you might get a pay rise and be kept, then traded - otherwise you'll get a basic increase and stay. Or am I over-simplifying things here...?

  12. I am going to give Another Life a certified fresh rating. You have to kind of old your nose at the cast, why are they sending 17 year olds on the most important mission in human history?

Domini for the LD (for line dancer a partner for EAP Dancer) If he would sign for 8 for 8 yes. Even if we have to through in a middling prospect. Domini is a player we have in abundance, goal scorers we have zero. Kid A has really picked up his game, but he is not a threat to score every time he step into the slot. With LD and Rye, we would have a hypersonic twin engine scoring machine that could make star wars look like a bow and arrow. Go for it Bery, make it so, overpay in prospects and/or draft picks if you can get the favourable sign and trade.

They don't have to play... just have the NHL step up and say: guess what, you can't bury those contracts any more, they count against the cap. The only problem is, that would also fuck buttman's little darlings the Coyotes. Can't have that happen.

  17. So there are more reports out there that Vodkov wants to come back. I'm torn because I know he can't be the player he was, but I think he could still play 5D-6D minutes and QB a PP and still improve our team. Probably a step up on Rielly. What pisses me off though is that he should have been signed to a 2 year contract 2 years ago instead of the Alzzzzzner signing, but egos got in the way with him and BBB. And considering Bergy's loyalty/dog comment from back then, it's unlikely we'll see Markov again. Might fit onto another team though to get 10 more games for his K.

The shaved ape is still fairly effective at 42. No reason Markov couldn't play 12-14 minutes a night. I'd love to see him get his 1000 games and retire as a Hab. I don't know if clod and bbb could get past their anti-Russian bias.

    5. i found this on yahoo in the comments section from a guy named stan:

      * * *
Back in 2017, Markov had a tough decision to make. He had twin sons who were five years old at the time living with Markov's partner in Russia. She died on Christmas of 2016 of ovarian cancer.
In 2017 his contract with Montreal expired, but no real negotiations were taking place. Markov wanted $6 million for two years, but Montreal management told him they first wanted to evaluate their young players before making him a firm offer. That would not happen until September, 2017.
So Markov had to make a choice. Move his two sons to Montreal, where he might not have a contract, or to move himself back to Russia where he could get a contract. He opted for the contract in Russia.
Markov played 990 games in the NHL, all with the Montreal Canadiens. I would like to see the Habs give him a contract to play ten more more games.

can anybody verify? even w/o knowing for sure.... im tempted to believe 100% this is what actually happend. just goes to reaffirm vodkov is a classy guy standing by his woman and not with the idiot MB. MB: i beg u to swallow like we know u can and do whats right! sign him to properly finish off a glorious career. like saint paddy says: 5D-6D is still better than what u have now.

    6. Hey oleg, not sure what the full story is with his kids and the timing, but what you dug up is as good an explanation of any I've seen. I do recall seeing video of his wedding in Russia that summer to his new wife, with CH-clad dancers and lots of CH love all around. He gained Canadian citizenship too. I always took it as a bit odd he and MB never put water in their wine and got a deal done, but a family man who truly loves his kids will usually put their best interest first, if they have to choose.

Not quite sure what you re trying to point out here Steve. Every team picks duds and some winners. Montreal has done better the last two or three years finding some prospects, maybe they will actually be developed properly now that Sly LaFever got the boot from the farm in favour of Joel Bouchard, a former Saint John Flame back int late 90's. He was a very good analyst for tsn/rds during his time there and turned out to be a very astute coach/GM/owner in the Q, taking the Armada to the President's cup Final in 2017 where they lost to the *cough* Sea Dogs. Sorry, Joel. I hope for much better things for you in Laval.

It's going to take time to purge the stench of losing from the Habs organization. I think in 3 to 4 years the duo of Bouchard/Ducharme will have swept away much of that debris. One can only hope. Price and Weber probably won't be around to see it as their respective careers wind down in Seattle.

    1. Hey, oleg, as much as we’d all like to know definitively, matters of a personal nature can be tough for any reporter to nail down, absent the subject’s willingness to divulge publicly. In this case, if it’s true that Vodkov had two young boys living without their recently-deceased mother in Russia, it would be paramount for them to get whatever close attention their father could give, and without delay. Extended family would be crucial as well, and I suppose it’s more likely they would all be living in Russia themselves. As a father, I can only imagine the worry and the need to comfort and provide as much stability to the kids in this situation as possible, career goals be damned. I imagine being a multi-millionaire also places his family at some sort of risk generally to the squirrel-ish Putin and his henchmen in the oligarchy. Perhaps that is not at play, but who really knows? If so, all the more reason for Vodkov’s reticence to confirm or deny any details. Perhaps now, having seen them through a difficult time, he sees an opportunity to return for one more season. I wonder how effective he would be, but a try-out seems the least the CH could offer.

If you keep your Kaepernick rule, make sure it stipulates that he must stay on the roster for xx weeks. Otherwise, I'd draft him at 15 and then drop him like BBB dropping an aging 990 game played Russian defenceman.
