  1. Enjoying an incredible 1st of September here.

25º, sunny, blue skies, slight breeze, Campari and SanPel on ice.

Hope all FHFriends had a wonderful summer (it ain't over!) as we prep for a new and highly entertaining season, where I expect the Habs to improve and make the playoffs !

  2. wake me when septemper comes Green Day, well the pic of raquel WOKE ME. I have learned how to have the best summers every, just weather. I expect Moeman is correct, our internal growth will stun the NHL and Herb Tarlak suits will be in every boardroom.

  5. Great weekend to get some outside painting done. Daughter 2's last day of vacation before heading back to Ottawa.

We have a rat issue in these parts. This week I saw one on my bbq filling up on ground beef grease as I was using a grilling mat. She was too quick as I thought I might get me some homemade kf'c'.

  6. Too bad the weather is so damn fine. Sounds like Andreescu is killing it at the Open. Did catch Shapo last night vs Monfils. Maybe I've not played close attention but have all tennis players always been somewhat assholeish? They all seem to yell and scream when they win a good point and throw fits when shit doesn't go their way. Maybe this is all athletes and just magnified when you're a one person team...

Good Morning FHFriends, hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend, especially those of you still in the work force. Saint Paddy's rat problem made me think you folks who live in upper Canada away from the ocean might get a kick out of this small 'problem' that's been lurking around these parts this summer. This isn't the first incident either...

Take note of the two bright boys who decide that the safest place to be is IN the water as they dive in. One guy says no fuckin' way I'm going in there, I'm staying on this rock!

  9. Snet has a 'top 50' list. I didn't click on it but notice the photo they have for this, what I'm sure is quite the gem, has Sid, McD and...drum roll...........Awesome 'glass shoulder' Matthews. Kid's 21 and might want to give Theo a call to get his Rogaine supplier's number.

  10. Ah...September...My birth month...the birth month of Jack Daniels as well (at least I can remember the date - apparently no one in Lynchburg knows the date in September so they celebrate all month long...My Kind Of Party! Is it just me or has the summer been particularly devoid of any real hockey news? Biggest thing I seem to recall was the ill-fated Offer Sheet to AHO. No big signings, no significant trades to mention - at least on the Habs side of things. I hear that the rights to a lot of hockey were sold to DAZN - does this affect the Habs games this season? As a streamer I am going to guess it won't impact too much. Before I forget...NOAR! Rachel looking healthy is always a good start to a month.

And lastly - September is going to be significant this year because my beloved mother Olive will learn much more on her fate this month. I have been kinda quiet since Mid May as she has been undergoing various treatments for masses found in her chest head and pelvis. Radiation lasted 8 weeks and we are now coming to the end of another round of hormone treatments with scans and results due later this month. So if any of you can see your way clear to adding her recovery to your list of requests you make to whomever it is you like to ask these kind of things, Olive and I will be ever so grateful. Peace and Love my FHFriends...Go Habs Go!

  11. Thanks for sharing K3X. May you and your mother find your paths through this ordeal with as little pain and anxiety as possible. Sounds like she's a real fighter. That's integral, regardless of the medical science. Strength to you both. --SiM

  13. You guys are all too cool! Mom will be 88 in December and is the last surviving sibling from a family of 13, so she is a fighter. She is determined that she will see us all at Christmas - so who am I to argue. Thanks for your support!

  14. Do-boy fluffed the leaf a lot in his day.

I recall he was booted from his last big gig.

Regardless, this is a solid piece as he speaks the truth.

Lots of inside knowledge there it seems. I have no skin in the game but it appeared to be really short sighted for buttman to put all his Canadian eggs in one basket. And, I didn't like the idea that Rogers would control ALL hockey content. Even though I get pissed at all the leaf blowing on tsn, I always preferred their hockey guys to the dull witted clowns (except for the BobCat) on snet. If the owners at Rogers had any fucking brains at all, they would be going to Bell with cap in hand asking for help in splitting up the NHL rights. But, Bell could just wait this all out as it seems the Rogers empire may crash and burn under the weight of this deal anyway.

    2. Leaf fans love to sit all day swallowing bullshit, that is why they are leaf fans. To be fair, your a fan of where you grew up. However media has taken this geographic and assaulted the mentality of the hockey nation, repeatedly and stupidly. I listen to TSN 690 every day, and they will not insult your intelligence ever. Excpet when they talk about food, and why when I tune to a hockey station do have to listen to food talk every day? Not smart food talk, talk about is Chi flia better than popeyes, what about KFC jerks?

  16. So Clayton Keller in Arizona gets $7.15M/year for his 37 goals and 114 points in 167 games. Seems like a lot for this production until you start doing the math compared to what others earn (or want to earn). While I know there is a lot more than points to consider when signing a player to a contract, for example by using this salary and pts/game as a base rate, then:

Sebastian Aho would be worth $8.1M/year (making $8.454)
Marner would be worth $8.95M/year (he'll get a lot more)
Laine would get $7.8M per (he'll get more)
Brayden Point is worth $8.5M (seems right, he'll get more tho)
kidA will be worth $6.54M/year (hard to imagine he doesn't re-up at $7.5 per)
Max is same as Keller at $7.15M per
    Druid would be $6.8M per

Anyway it's interesting how my first thought was how out to lunch that number was, but reality is that their reality is not my reality. So this actually seems like a deal for the Habs (since they pay a chunk of his salary).

    1. Keller is the franchise player in AZ. However I think the NHPLA would do well to put a cap on salary and let some of the big money go to the role players who keep the stars entertianing.
