See y'all next year bitCHes !
Thanks/Merci to all FHFers for the FHFun 2019 comments and a special shout out to St. Pad and Prof 29.
ReplyDeleteBe well, play/drive/drink safe and most importantly be FHFuckin' SEXY !
Awesome year-end / decade-end montage, moeman! Nice touch with the Labatt's 50 <> and Fred Flintstone (cuz only a Neanderthal could root for that team, natch!
ReplyDeletewhen did the french quotes symbol become an html tag, callisse?! the <> above shoulda been "le stubbé"
DeleteColeHand-Caufeld with the OT winner for the USA jrs!
ReplyDeleteA sweet snipe !
DeleteHappy New Year to all you 4HFers. Gonna be a chilled one for my gang this year so enjoy yourselves everyone and Go you fucking Habs Go!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to Mom Dad and Drunck Uncle FHF. Lots of laughs in the last decade and not because our team is a joke. Sad to thinkaboot Bladerunner which was set in 2019. We dont even have replicants just cheesy sex robots, no flying cars, and I dont know one cop that does orgimai.
ReplyDeleteHonestly I dont see us winning a cup in the next decade, or even getting to a conferance final. We are like a practice team for champions.
CHill gets the start. Vejdemo makes his NHL debut in Barber's spot. JFW --SiM
ReplyDeleteHey I've been incommunicado visiting family in NB. Not following hockey at all but catching those scores. Not surprised at all. Just need the loser point to complete my .500 road trip prediction. Sorry oleg I'm just a realist but I appreciate your optimism.
ReplyDeleteDoing a John Wick marathon for NYE. Semi home made pizza in the oven....there goes the buzzer now.
Happy New Year FHFriends.
Montreal may want to revisit former goaltending prospect Zach Fucale, he just put up some incredible numbers at the Spengler Cup which Team Canada won today. He gave up 2, count'em, 2 goals against in 4 games including b2b shutouts yesterday and today.
ReplyDeleteWe are going to finish 'The Witcher' tonight. Ordered some Chinese to pick up later.
ReplyDeleteI'm back to ignoring bergy's wannabees for a while.
So, 2-1 after 2 periods and Charlie looks solid enough... Poehling getting more ice and has hit a crossbar so that's something. KIDA got smacked hard Nd is probably concussed by his own teammates knee... So that's not so good... JFW. GYFHG!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year/Decade to all FHFers! Looks like Lip got his bell rung and I doubt he'll be back for a few games, given concussion protocol. The last three losses put a big damper on our playoff hopes. Like I thought at the start of the season, they're a playoff team for sure -- IF THEY STAY HEALTHY. Last season, the injury bug wasn't so bad. But Druid, LB, GI Finn and half a must-win game minus Lip and you get this kind of result.
ReplyDeletePositives from last night/recent games:
1) the return of CHill, who played great
2) EAP, Nature, KidKoho, Cale-i-Flower, Meat... rookies all looking aces
3) CHariot of Eggs (despite being the goat on Lip's injury) playing way better than expected
4) Domini goal scoring streak continues
I hope MB signs Domini soonish. And carries on developing the youth with an eye to next year. Keep TFS from being over-used. If the stars have a play-off in the works for this year, great, but it's not the end of the world. Time to calibrate the team for the better days to come in 20-21, when the talent gels the way we see it has in Carolina, for example.
problem is Tataaar, Dish, and BBQ are all expiring, and TFS well who knows but 35 is all we can hope for. I would really like to see us luck out with a lottery pick, cause its at least two years before a force of kids are ready for a parade. I would dump Tataar and Dish this year if you can get a first or two seconds for each.
DeleteI have been doing a lot of research and I guarantee if we finish no higher than 10th we will get one of the top 3 picks. Since there is no concesous No 1 we could end up with the Ash Man. Never to early for nicks, I am going down the Half Life pipeline and Freeman is one of the translations, so we could call him Gord or VALVE. PBM product of the black mesa.
DeleteI've seen this movie so many times in the last twenty years or so. The team struggles through the regular season, makes a push at the end to either barely squeak in or fail to qualify for the playoffs and end up picking somewhere around 10th. Looks like more of the same this year. Some fans want to sell! Some say hold on to the vets and try to compete. I don't know what the answer is but what I do know is this team, as constructed, is not very good. Sure, they have some good young players on the way but by the time they 'mature' or develop, players like Price and Weber will be done as elite players, if they already aren't. We won't know what goes down for another month or two with regards to what Bergevin will do but, from his last presser, it sounds like he won't do anything significant to change the makeup of his team. The only thing I see him doing is the usual dumpster diving and probably selling off a few of his own dumpster collectibles. As I've said before, it's time the hockey gods finally cut Habs fans a break and bequeath us a generational player like Lafreniere. I always seem to be looking at other teams elite players in envy, it would be nice for us to have someone like that.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
I haven't watched a post Christmas Habs game and I'm OK with that. Like the M says, this team isn't going to be good enough to compete for some time. I'm eligible to retire in April 2025. There is a chance that somebody could take the reins and build a champion around the young up and comers by then, but I'm not betting the farm on it.
ReplyDeleteSo many good shows to choose from these days, why stress yourself watching Habs drama. The Witcher, The Crown, Watchmen and the 2nd season of Lost In Space is now available. I'll probably watch Saturday night's games but week nights I'll pass, thanks.
DeleteDanger Bergy Danger. In this scenario Buttman is Dr Smith. Thanks for the reminders M, have yet to check out either Witcher or Watchmen.
DeleteThe Witcher will be a bit confusing at the beginning but hang in there and it will all come together. Yennefer is... exquisite.
DeleteYeah, we did a lot of tv binging over the holidays. The Witcher was good. Mrs Pad and the daughters quite enjoyed superman in his tight leather and long hair. I really enjoyed The Mandalorian. Just finished Lost in Space S2. While some of the characters and scenarios really grind my gears if I may quote Peter Griffin, it's generally a decent storyline with some compelling characters. One of my daughters and I have a thing for cheesy tv and I just found The Magicians. And it is gloriously CHeesy! Only 1 episode in, but one can tell when the cheese flows well.
ReplyDeleteThe Irishman was great 9/10
ReplyDeleteMarriage Story 8/10
The Babadook 6/10
Dolemite is my name 8.5/10
Next in the queue is The Post
The Two Popes was really good too. Saw the Messiah episode 1 last night. Might be the new Homeland.
DeleteLooking forward to both those.
DeleteHappy 18th birthday, Goal Caufield. Only three years before you can legally buy or hold cannibis in la Belle Province, thanks to our stupid CAQ-istador masters.
ReplyDeletecan you still grow it, Duplusie Duplusie OMG. Fact is finanaally he is the great manager.
DeleteWith no Lip, GI Finn or Druid, that's 34 goals of their 131 out of the line-up tonight. CHip, Cousins, Weal are not gonna tear it up. Could be a difficult night.
ReplyDeleteOh right, and LB too. It's been so long... Two assistant captains down. I just hope CJv2 puts EAP and Nature and KidKoho on the ice a lot more than Cousins and Weal. Let them make mistakes and learn. No point otherwise. Engels just confirmed Lip won't be back for at least the next four tilts. Only LB or Peca *may* return within the next three weeks, realistically.
DeleteThe Habs' playoff hopes for this season is officially now a wash.
Thought Evans or even the hot Hudon would get the call.
DeleteMight be a nod to Weise for his unyielding allegiance to the Habs. Make sure he plays his last game(s) in the NHL in a Habs sweater, since their outlook is poor anyway. Also I've always said that while no pro athlete would ever subscribe to the idea of tanking and losing on purpose, management CAN tilt the team in that direction by the choices it makes.
Deletestop it u guys! this team is NOT in it for the tankjob! this team can do it: this yr, right now, today!
Deletedont EVER forget, StL was last, last yr before getting hot
we were supposed to capitulate down 0-2 to those rising superstars from Que before winning #23 (with a team 'which had no business hoisting the cup') never forget. je me souviens!
team is 11th GF, but 20th GA
team is 4th in hits given (thnx dish, domini!)
team draws the 2nd least amount of PPs, but also has 8th rank PP
...but then again team is 25th PK
numbers dont lie and that tells me factor x = TFS not playing like FS!
oh... and the talk about building for next yr, next 2, next 5, the future... BS!
all i gotta do is list off n8, tintin, sergeychev, CHud, auto, thomas, ghetto, bigmac, louis leblanc, scherbak, noah.... to prove the future means crap. only an idiot would take a chance tm, when u have a chance in the now.
u guys drink too much of BBB's cool-aid. bollocks to next yr, the yr after that... when my grandkids have grandkids...
love the spirit, oleg. This is just us being realistic. What the Blues accomplished last season was quite special, and not likely to be a recipe for Habs success.
DeleteLike I said upthread, the likes of Nature and Domini (still rather young) flowering in front of our eyes is all we ought to expect. Playoffs look unlikely, but not impossible; but it would require a whole lot of stuff breaking just right for us, so it's doubtful.
What this season needs is an enema!
Kitties and SHOES! Awesome post Moe. Happy New Year to all, I'm watching Jack Ryan Shadow Recruit on Prime right now. Highly recommend The Night Manager also on Prime.
ReplyDeleteI knew you'd catch the shoes !
Delete... and that cat couch !
What's this about a trade with the Senaturds for a Left-D? Radar, we hardly knew ya! JFW and GYFHG!
ReplyDeletefearless perdiction, BBQ, TATAAAAR and Dish will all be gone by trade deadline
DeleteI am reluctant to tell everybody the secrecy to surviving the disaster 2020 year of the Habs. Why, because I am always asked to share my wisdom, and when a few thousand people share, its okay, when a few million habs fans ask me to help I will be like TFS in the third period of a back to back.
ReplyDeleteSo here is the secrect. Nicholas Cage. If your mind is ever sorrow, just pick any of his movies and you will be filled with joy. He makes a new movie every 15 minintes so for 2020 no withdrawal from the magnificence of Nick Cage. Now you dont want to OD on the first watch, so I suggest something from 2013, try a couple of those years, then rip into The Rock, follow up with 10 cc of Con Air, now your hooked, just keep watching and forgetting, soon it will be 2030, and Bergy will be a brain in a glass bottle, saying "future, future, future"
I liked To Live and Die In L.A., Gone In 60 Seconds and Ghost Rider. Nic Cage isn't so bad.
DeleteDish!!
ReplyDeleteWasn't planning on tuning in but did and was pleasantly surprised to hear Sergio Momesso doing the colour for the game. I also learned the Habs traded with Buffalo, getting his nephew Martin Scandela to shore up the D after saying c ya l8r to Reilly to Ottawa.
ReplyDeleteMissed those first 3 goals but what I've seen so far is compete. And seeing CHip step up to fight the much larger (Whatta) Maroon for Domi was special.
yes! im glad u like what u see StP cause this is the norm. this is how the boys SHOULD be playing! i liked reily btw... he was quick.
ReplyDeletePoor bergy. He really can't help himself.
ReplyDeleteIs it Marco Scandella? So Polo would be the obvious nick.
ReplyDeleteYep liked the effort and TB goalie made some big stops but a lot of the shots were also right at the lightning bolt. Still not built to compete with the elite teams in the conference. So play the kids in all situations and see what the future holds. Go team.
CHolo Polo. Bergy just set a new record for number of D men acquired and sold.
DeleteArchduke Ferdinand, just saying.
To be fair to Bergy on his trades yesterday, the AHL ranks were getting thin with all the callups, hence picking up the no-name player from the Sens and ditching Radar who wasn't cutting it defensively. And he got a 5-6 LD in Polo, who happens to be a home boy and not a terrible stay at home dman. And it only cost him a 4th for a 5th in the end. And both of these contracts end this year. So while not an out of the park move, necessary I would say.
ReplyDeleteSo, the leader of the country of Quebec says maybe the Habs should trade Price and Weber. I saw a comment the other, maybe in the gazette, the person said the Habs would rather lose in French than win in English. The irony was the commenter had a francophone name.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I don't think Price is going anywhere anytime soon. Remember, he signed for the maximum term, 8 years. I don't think he would have done that if he didn't see a light at the end of the tunnel. The thing about Price is they have to stop leaning on him so much and ease in Primeau over the next year or two, make it a 60/40 split.
Take the high pick this June and move on.
The CAQ can FAQ OFF !
DeleteBullshit, the Premier of Ontario who is a absolute alleged something, would never pull such a juvie move. TFS and BBQ are quality, maybe not pure wool quality, but they bleed pure wool.
DeleteOl' MB can't help himself, signing Kovy 2.0
ReplyDeleteHey maybe Kovalchuk helps the PP out? Fills in for our fallen guys for the next month?
In the end, it is low risk. But what it mostly proves is that Bergy will always go for the hail mary even when the odds are heavily stacked against him. Habs need to play .683 hockey to get to 98 points. Just sayin'.
So long as he puts up some points and isn't a bad influence in the room.
DeleteYep, we don't have high standards :)
DeleteUncle N8 says he was a good guy in the room.
Marcolé ?
ReplyDeleteToo soon? SWIDT ?!
So I see our Swedish defender isn't even dressed for the semis. If he doesn't rate amongst his peers now, does it question his potential for the future NHL career? He's still young, maybe one day. SaCHa on the other hand is going to be our saviour next year apparently. Watching him he will be good, but will take time to get stronger and learn the NA style of hockey. But in 2-3 years could be our newest top pairing D.
ReplyDeleteGo Romanov. Go Canada. Go Habs. Go Pats!
*I won't put money on the Pats but will also never count them out.
