So my Sea Dogs won 7-5 and I see on Twitter that the Habs have sunk to another new low. Does anyone watch the interviews after the game. I'm interested on how Do Harm is going to spin this one? Sauce only got 1 not 3 maybe? I'm convinced now, more than ever, that the players have just quit of the coach, there is no possible way these guys can be this bad. They are playing to get him fired.
Anyway, I have to confess I watched the 3rd period of the leaf/canes game last night, so that's what good teams look like. After that, I watched Boston College vs Northeastern, I was curious to see Harris and Struble play, Harris looks good but I didn't see enough of Struble to make a judgement. Watching those two teams, I do remember thinking either one would give Montreal a run for their money. Seriously, they were quick and could play defence. It was nice to watch.
Lots of options to watch some hockey out there, not the dumpster fire in Montreal.
Habs have played 45 games. Habs have allowed 5 goals against 13 times. Habs have allowed MORE than 5 goals against 7 times! That is 20 of 45 games allowing at least 5 goals. 45% of their games. How the fuck is this possible? I mean other than not having Weber and Edmundson and Dish obviously doing double agent duty. No matter the experience it shouldn't look that easy every game for opponents to score goals. It's not a healthy environment. Gorton and Hughes get no Nick until they show me what they plan on doing about it.
On a bright note, I happened to tune into the end of the Bruins/Pens game and saw Ratface lose his mind, punch Jarry in the head, then as he's being escorted to the box, take a jab at Jarry's mask with his stick. So I look forward to the news to see what that costs him. Even the insufferable Jack Edwards said as much after the incident, wondering how many games he'll miss for that.
Suggest Carbo or Roy be brought in to coach just to finish the season, and audition to stay on if it goes fabulously. Do Harm is hurting the value of the franchise at this point.
After the second period I realized I had spent a full half-hour oblivious to the game - not even flinching with each goal against - doomscrplling Twitter for better signs of hope amidst this siege of assholery. So I turned off the TV and shed a tear for RDS's ratings.
He was not a goood choice to coach at this level. Having a Stanley Cup winning coach to mentor him should have been helpful, but his IQ issues were glaringly apparent.
It was clear that Ducharme was out of his depth. The players were not responding to him anymore and Hughes had to do something. KH couldn't let this go on without doing irreparable damage to the team. I suspect Luke and Alex wanted to do something but couldn't overstep their bounds.
It would have been OK to lose 2 out of 3 games or go 1-1-1, but the situation had become untenable, it was time, in fact over due. Thank goodness it's over.
Hughes did point to Brind'Amour as the type of coach he'd like (from what I read), who also had zero coaching experience before heading up the Canes. So maybe Marty turns this into a permanent gig if he can manage to turn this sow's ear into a silk purse. Hell, even into a denim change purse would be an improvement.

Its a calculated gamble. Whats a coach do anyway except open the doors on the benCH. If you want to create fire on ice, hire someone who knows how to manufacture it, from hard work and determination against all odds.
I'm not complaining in the least, I just want to point out after doing some perusing that:
1) Gorton was a pro scout then GM with the Rags when they got Marty from Tampon Bay. 2) Cousin Vinnie (KH's first client) and Marty are tight. 3) Clark and Marty both have sons playing at Northeastern.
Man, is this not nepotism at it's finest!!??
BTW, Marty does coaching experience, he's been coaching one of his kids' U13 hockey team. So there.
All kidding aside, I welcome the change. Maybe it will take some of the stench off the Habs that 29 was talking about.

Unless they can win some games 8-7 or 7-6, I don't expect things to change over night. The good news is, Arizona aka buttman's darlings won last night so Canadiens have a little more breathing room at the bottom. They can win without fucking up their draft position.
If you are interested, on Marinaro's podcast last night he had a pretty good interview with Serge Savard about the day's news. One thing caught my ear: 2022 is the 50th anniversary of the '72 Summit series. Ken Dryden has written a book about it, to be released in August. I'll definitely be getting a copy of that. I was 17 years then and followed the series closely, watched all the games and still remember it well. Yvan Cournoyer tied the score in Game 8 before Henderson got the winner but the SFU never mentions that.

Maybe they can do the same thing with coaching? Hire the best available. If he isn't Francophone, hire the best bilingual assistant you can find.
