Just got back in from the road, so haven't heard the presser yet.
Seems like the rumour of Vinny joining the fold may be just that? Perhaps they're actually waiting for Sauvegeau (I think I really effed that name up?) to return from China to announce her as AGM?
That was a very impressive presser. Hughes saying more changes to come, MSL pumped and confident, talking about not hindering players with systems, but using concepts and instinct. So pumped! Great product launch!
Yeah I listened to it while working. Caught some of the french, but it was mostly too fast for me. I did hear the bit about Marty and his talk about systems vs concepts. This is truly exciting. THe players watching that have to be excited. To hear him say he wants them to have fun (like his kids in pee-wee) has got to be refreshing too. It seems like they're set up to play loose. I'm sure there will be some stick gripping moments yet as a lot of them will be wondering if they will still be here in 6 weeks, but this change has got to be positive for most of the team. Will be an interesting time to come.
Oh also loved the bit where MSL says he will be leaning on his dad a lot. This is awesome! To have the sense to admit that a major change in life like this cannot be handled alone is huge.
Let players play. He was so correct, hockey is not the NFL. Its not soccer. Let the best players play pond hockey with a commitment to back check and not shoot it over the snowbank.
I've been going through my hockey card collection, trying to decide what to part with. I finally found my Kirk Muller rookie, thought I had lost it. So glad!
I have RCs for MSL and Burrows as well that I found today. Cool.
Hi UK3X, glad to see you. On a very scary note. I have a blog that has dissappered from Google. For years top return if you searched for thinkingaboot Now it cant be found in Google. Blog still there I am still here but next who knows.
So, that fat fuck fried-man thinks Marty is just there to 'evaluate' the players, not actually coach. Well, fuck him what would he know about what Gorton and Hughes are planning? Fucking SFU POS!!
Serge Savard said he didn't think Primeau would be a No. 1 goalie. I think the Habs better hang on to both Price and Allen. Wouldn't hurt to go get a vet for the next couple months.
Too bad for Primo but he might not be a future NHL goalie. I mean it's early he's only 22, but maybe he IS a 7th round pick...not a solid 9th rounder like Halak.
We dont need no more SMURFS. The current best SMURF in the NHL is Billy. He is great in the regular season but when the men come out, he has Capt Highliner Flashbacks. Nature is smurfish, Wishkey is the poster boy for SMURFS. You can have maybe 5 smurfs on the roster to win the cup, google it you lazy kids.
Marty's superhero name should be Thigh Master.
ReplyDeleteThat's a kick-ass nick
DeleteSWIDT
Could we hockey it up and call him PENDY after that absurd Pendelton?
DeleteGood presser.

Or does Marty have a spot as AGM if it turns out coaching isn't his thing?
DeleteNo one remarked on it at the time, but Gorton expressly welcomed him as Interim General Manager, lol

ReplyDeleteGreat news!

ReplyDeleteSmall steps...
ReplyDeleteI think they need to get a goalie somewhere, Lebrun said Kudobin is available.
ReplyDeleteSerge Savard said he didn't think Primeau would be a No. 1 goalie. I think the Habs better hang on to both Price and Allen. Wouldn't hurt to go get a vet for the next couple months.

ReplyDeleteWhiskey!
ReplyDeleteThat's the magic back. What a grin. GYFHG
DeleteWhiskey a Go Go!
ReplyDeleteImagine that. Suzuki and Caufield on the PP.
ReplyDeleteCC!!!!
ReplyDeleteAt least it's not a blowout, I feel like they still have a chance.
ReplyDeleteG Y F H G!!!!
Seeing effort in the 3rd period is a welcome change.
DeleteAnybody notice Marty had all his best offensive players out there on the PP? What a concept! That would never even occur to Do Harm and Jabba.
ReplyDelete5 to play yet, but to this point 2 players over 20 minutes. Suzuki and........ Romanov! Chiarot just under. Toffee the only other over 17.
ReplyDeleteWhiskey with a beauty!
ReplyDeleteOffside????
ReplyDeleteWhiskey double!
ReplyDeleteAh, poop. Offside BS
ReplyDeleteMagical Toronto cameras must show a view that the puck was clearly outside the Blueline, 7 feet off the ice, in Toffoli's glove. Some CSI shit.
ReplyDeleteTwo bad goals cost them at least a point. But the effort was there tonight, that's a positive.
ReplyDeleteI hear Reacher on Prime is really good. Anybody check that out yet? Thinking of starting it this weekend.
ReplyDeleteThere's #5. 21st game of 5+.
ReplyDeleteMuch better effort though. Could actually watch a full game for the first time in a dog's age.
Lep was oddly terrible and only 12 min. TOI. Otherwise, great effort all around.
ReplyDeleteWhiskey on 40 goal pace
ReplyDeleteI have been thinkingaboot the nick.
ReplyDeleteSuperman is over the top
Batmann lesser but same
But what about Robin?
If you are talking about the new coach, I want to call him McFly.

Welcome Hamburgler! 30 straight wins and no starts for TFS coming right up? Lol
