Thank the hockey gods that the Habs were eliminated from the playoffs last night. If it happened in a loss to the leafs tonight, Cultbert would have blown a load making that call at the end of the game.
I'd rather be outside but still laid up a bit, so a day of match play golf, a nother shot a clinching a world Cup berth, topped off by Habs v compost is a pretty good consolation.
Mrs. Maritimer and I went out for breakfast this morning to the restaurant at my golf club. When I got home I swept the winter gravel off the sidewalk, trimmed some shrubs and adjusted my solar night lights. Finally feel like we've turned the corner from Old Man Winter. I'll be taking the snow tires off this week sometime.
Anyone watching Star Trek Picard? Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) is still smokin' hot! I like the story line too, featuring Q, the Borg and time travel. What's not to like?
Hey the M. Corey Connors battling hard to make the semis in the Dell. He's playing great. Don't see a lot of his game because NBC would rather show Koepka picking his nose or DJ scratching his balls, but if Corey can win they should have no option but to show his game in the semis.
I will never speak ill of Dish, I liked his game, skating and he could put up points on usually weak Habs teams. He scored some nice goals in OT. His wife wants out of Quebec which reminds me of Pronger's wife wanting out of Edmonton. This stuff happens and was apparently the reason Briere wouldn't sign with Montreal when he was still in his prime. She didn't want to leave Philly. So, all that being said, I wish Jeff Petry nothing but the best wherever he goes, hopefully his home town Detroit but more likely Dallas.
Dish has earned the right to wash his hands. Signing Jordan Harris, could DGMB have done it? In two years we will not have the big 3 or the big four, but the great 8.

Bang on review. Hockey Night was a leaf lovefest before Rogers took over, now it's a complete shitshow. I don't think it will change whoever takes over since both Bell and Rogers co-own the putrid leaf. I hope that the Canadiens win the Cup again before the leaf do just to rub their noses in it. Being so close last year made those fuckers sweat bullets.
In this big old rotten world a little justice and a little peace. Die leaf, welcome to your first round conclusion. Maybe we can get Nylander for the Druid in the bustup.
Remember those Hockey News covers predicting the leaf dynasty with the eminems and PJ boy with multiple Cups? I think the bloom has come off that rose. Who goes first after Dumbass is fired? I predict Wee Willie, he is being carved up on Twitter. I like Steve's idea, JD for WN straight up.
Man, a Sunday after a Saturday night beating of the leaf is a great day. Thought I'd check the hilites this morning, the leaf game of course buried after the Raptors and then the Oil/Flames game. Then the 2 ladies hosting on TSN ponder if the leaf goalie save was better than Allen's save on Mitchy. No. The answer is no. Not even close. Usually both networks will then go to their panel of 'expets' to discuss. Nope. Nothing.
Ah, Twitter is so much fun after a leaf loss to the Habs. Imagine, the mighty #leafsforever lost to a team with 10 forwards and 3 AHL defencemen. It's hilarious! And, leaf 'reporters' crying that Paul Byron tripped their boy on the winning goal. As moe said last night : HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!
Interesting point from last night, leaf had around $50mil in players on the ice trying to score with the goalie pulled. Montreal had $41.7mil in their ENTIRE roster until Pitlick2.0 and Pez went down, then it became 39.4, not even the cap floor.
Hey FHFriends, I knew there was a game tonight but after last night I felt a game against NJ would be pretty anti-climactic. The Mrs. is out tonight so I decided to watch Captain Marvel. It is the lead in to Avengers Endgame which will be next. I'll watch the 3rd.
For folks that say the Habs need to suck (I won't say tank) again next year to get another top pick, NJ is another of those cautionary teams along the lines of the leaf and oil who've had high picks with nothing to show for it. They had the top pick in 2017 (Hischoer) and 2019 (Hughes).
My point is don't suck next year, but rather I think HuGo improved the team in the off season and they compete next season. Especially if TFS is back and in form.
Just went and saw the first goal against. Oof. Monty's one stinker per game goal. Like he was playing Let's Make a Deal with Hughes and opened door 1 for him all the way.
We have to do a two year suck. History repeats itself. We got gCHuk a top pick in a bad draft, then we got KidKo, a later pick in a bad draft. We will get a good player better than either of those, but he needs a wingman, so we need to tank one more year to seal the deal.

DeleteLoved Kashtin back in the day. Great tunes.
Should be interesting to see what the sfu mediots focus on tonight, the Habs respectful game jersey or their leaf'$ clown jersey.
ReplyDeleteI assume this is rhetorical.
DeleteAre they wearing their bruin jerseys tonight? So pathetic, their lemmings will all freely give $300 for those jokes of a sweater.
RIP Taylor Hawkins. Admittedly could not have named the drummer for the Foo Fighters, but like some of their stuff.

Another one gone too soon. Talented dude. R.I.P.
DeleteOpening segment from 'the panel' tonight:
ReplyDeletemclame: Let's talk about my favourite team in the whole world, the leaf.
haharudey: auston matthews will be the bestest player on the ice tonight.
botterill: auston is just so dreamy.
Bieksa: Ben Chiarot made him look like a clown last year.
fried-man: I'm auditioning for The Joker II.
This is accurate.
