I have a recollection from long ago one of our regulars saying they were fans of Kay Adams. Since it's NFL draft weekend I was tuning into GMFB this morning and snapped a shot for them. Maybe Oleg? Or Chester? Anyway there ya go.
TFS tonight. I sure hope it's not his last as a Hab. If he plays out his contract, I think this team can compete in 2-3 years.
But if he'd rather go to a contender next season if he's still playing, I'm cool with that
I think it just proves this team would have a very good shot at winning the Calder Cup. But I still think it's probably better for the psyche heading into golf season.
Even if it was against an AHL squad, lots of positives in the final game.
TFS got a win Whiskey bagged a Hatty, one goal shy of the rookie lead Harris scores his first Type it! finally scored one in probably his last game as a Hab Price had some fun with Eggs after giving him one in the first Put up 10 for Guy! Guy! Guy!
One more thing. Beautiful ceremony for retiring equipment manager Pierre Gervais. Now there has been a lot of hand wringing and fist shaking about Weber not showing up for Guy's memorial, which I've steered clear of. But I gotta say when Gainey walked out in his home white jersey #23, as was the way back in the day, and then Weber walks out wearing a suit, I gotta admit I found that very odd. I get it, the other injured or non playing players were in suits for the picture...but it just seed weird to see Gainey in the CH but not Shea. Jack Todd might be onto something...
Getting 10 goals at home for Guy was a great way to end the season from hell. But the season has not been all bad. The Habs grew as an organisation. Geoff Molson woke (TF) up and got busy. Best move of the year was getting rid of Bergevin. Next seasons training camp will look completely different for the Habs. Who knows who they draft but they will be better organised and use the camp to actually prepare to compete. The future looks bright. Thanks to all of you guys for the support. The year has been like no other. GYFHG!
Everything we thought about Empty, Count CHocula and the whole list of coaches who infect the NHL has been proven true by CoaCH ( as in Lou Reed, I want to play for the coach) Maybe we should call him Lou. How many careers ruined by the focus to make people do what they are not good at, while stifle what they are good at.
It's pure speculation but I believe if the Habs had started the season with MSL, they do not finish 32nd. It took them half a season almost to purge dd's 'system" from their heads. Decimated by injuries they were not playoff bound by any means but they weren't as bad as Arizona or Seattle.
Just a few thoughts about the season ending pressers. 1) Kent Hughes is so professional. No flippant quotes or cheapshots at the media. Open and honest, Chantal is leading the way. 2) In my opinion the next captain will be either #11 or #44, placeholder for #14. 3) Carey Price will go on LTIR next season and possibly retire in the next 2 years. 4) Jeff Petry stays in Montreal unless somebody gives KH an offer he can't turn down. 5) The only UFA Hughes pursues is Filip Forsberg. 6) Weber's contract is traded to Arizona or Nashville.
Other moves will be made but I won't speculate on those. Looking forward to the next few weeks.
Finally, I could care less who wins the Cup as long as it isn't the wretched leaf, the dirty tainted bruins or douche bag ducherov and his welfare team. Eff all them.
Agree with most of The M above. Gally will be the captain next year the only thing I have in the back of my mind is I can't see BBQ going out on a medical. At 36 he still has years in him I'm sure the fire is still there, we shall see. I have for the first time in a while an optimistic view of the future. Watching the younglings come up and grow will be interesting as well as the off season for once we won't be dumpster diving for another Kaberle. I feel respect for the organization has been reinstated with the moves in the office and behind the bench as well as the feeling since Marty took over. No quit in this team refreshing after several years where if we didn't get the first goal we were fucked. Anyway want to thank Moeman et al for this place where I can drop in and blabber about what's rattling about in my mind. Everyone have a safe summer store your beer in a cool dark place and keep your left arm straight, Live Long and Prosper. Go Habs
I would agree with the M except for point 3. TFS will lead the CLub to the cup in 2025 I am back on the Shane Wright bandwagon. This guy may not be a Weber but he is absolute a Napoleon
I'm happy to see Josh Roy win the QMJHL scoring title although I was cheering for the local kid William Dufour. William will have to settle for the goal scoring title (56) and a guaranteed crack at the Memorial Cup. Going to be some great playoffs here for the next few weeks, I hope.
Shane Wright scores the OT winner to send Kingston to the second round against the North Bay Battalion and Habs goalie prospect Joe Vrbetic. Fingers crossed Montreal gets the #1 pick.
I watched Shane pretty close last night, he is very good, makes quick accurate passes all the time, wins faceoffs galore and knows where to be on the ice. He took a beating last night and responded well to it.
The wretched, putrid leaf are already whining that they are going to get roughed up by the Dolts. Ha Ha, I hope the Tampa D cross check the fuck out of Narcos.
Hey everyone! I'm coming to Montreal at the end of May for the first time in about 15 years. Looking for rec's of something different to do. I used to do the Montreal Bike Festival a lot and stay with a guy who lived on the Plateau. We would watch the Habs on TV-usually in the middle of a deep playoff run. Anyway, sadly he's gone. Anything new or different to check out? Neighborhoods I don't know about? I don't know much outside the Plateau and downtown areas. I'll be with the wife so no strip clubs and probably too old for getting drunk on Crescent St. Go(lf) Flyers!
Filled out my NHL bracket. Actually picked the Oilers over the Panthers in the final. Risky with their goaltending situation, they need to beat Calgary and Colorado to get there. But what the hell.
Film Review: What we learned from dissecting all 60 Auston Matthews goals I tried to respond with "The real question is "How long did you last while watching them?" " Thought it might be cryptic enough but some SN jackwad figured me out.
Full disclosure, I have not been on any SFU sites or read one word about their win last night. I have seen comments indicating that their insufferable dumb as fuck fan base and their equally dumb homer press are declaring the series over with the leaf moving on already. It never ceases to amaze me how short their collective memory is. Last year "It was 3-1" against a far weaker Habs team. How did that go? Somebody should remind all those leafools that it takes 4 wins to win a series.
Watched none other than Chris F. Lee call back the Rags' fourth goal in the last five minutes of the third, which would've put them up 4-3, despite the fact the Penguin defender was clearly at fault for the goalie interference. But two and a bit of excellent OT hockey ensued. Tough loss for Gorton's old team.
Okay, despite Kreider's presence on the Rags, I hope they get past last night and advance, for Gorton. I don't like the Bolts, Canes, Broons or Laffs, so whomever wins outside of them is ultimately my team in the East.
In the West, Wild and Avs and Flames, Blues, Stars are not shitty. Preds and Oils (Evander Kane factor) can suck it.
Well done Bolts. I only watch laff highlights when they lose but typical of them was this comment as time is running out... "Tampa holds on to beat the Leafs 5-3".. From what I saw Bolts were coasting 5-1 and let their foot off the gas...
Yeah, I've got no love for Tampa but I can live with them beating the wretched leaf. Toronto's homer media will fluff them endlessly. It is disgusting.
Killorn in from my teenage stomping grounds and he's a good egg, bringing the Cup to a big public event every summer his team wins it. And with Darche in the head office, and if MSL and Lecavalier are rooting for them, that makes them more tolerable than the Leafs, recent playoff victories over tge CH notwithstanding.
Note on the draft, I expect we pick third, so its Cooly or the big destroy winger. We have a number two center already in that harvard guy, I hope we get the destroyer
Random thoughts on a Saturday evening as I wait for my chili to finish.
- still suffering from my back/hip/leg injury. Latest diagnosis is IT Band Syndrome. Since it's IT related I asked my chiropractor if I should turn it off and turn it on again. She didn't get it. Anyway,.mobility is severely limited so everyday living is a chore. No golf for me for awhile 😥
- I made a promise to myself not to be the guy that stoops to cheering against another team because my team is out. But I can still say Fuck da leaf.
- did you know that since 1967, 15 of the teams to enter the league have won a combined 32 cups and 5 of the original 6 have combined for 21 cups.
- Better Call Saul is the best show on television right now. By far.
Barry on HBO is highly recommended. Henry Winkler is fantastic.
World Juniors coming to Halifax! ...and.Moncton. Might have to splurge for tickets to see Habs prospect Shane Wright play for Canada.
-- saw the pic of Riley Kidney (nic Beans) signing his contract. He looks 12.
Played my first round yesterday, shot 88 on automatic 2 putt greens (still punched from last fall). I would have shot close to that regardless as I was on in regulation most times anyway.
I got NO problem cheering against the wretched leaf ... and I despise Tampa.
Interesting numbers regarding the Cup wins since '67, not sure what you are getting at but... oh hell yes I do. Two thumbs up!
I haven't seen Saul yet but will get around to it soon.
Good luck getting tickets to the WJC but I think Shane will be playing in Montreal.
Beans is a good nick for Riley, maybe even just Red, like the ones in your chili!
It has been a gorgeous day if only a little on the cool side. I've been laying low today recovering from yesterday's hike around the golf course. Washington put the boots to the Cats today, I don't think Florida is 'grizzled' enough to beat the experienced Ovechkins. Maybe next year. Colorado looks really good too.
The IT joke deserved better. Chiropractorship is even more suspect to me now. My knees have sucked since I overdid it jogging up and down Mount Royal hard in my late 20s. Wutyagonnado
My prediction of the Panthers beating the Caps may be as off as my expectations of the Kings. Common denominator: tired former Habs stars expected to carry their new team.
Not a huge Arcade Fire fan but they did well on SNL last.night. Much better than some of the acts they've had on this season...though I shouldn't judge a 'music' style that just ain't my cup of tea.
Forgot to mention, my first day golfing I ran into my friend that used to scout the Q for the Blues and he told me Shane Wright is not a generational type player but is indeed very, very good. The hockey gods owe Habs fans this pick. Fuck Batman and Daley.
Whomever they draft I think HuGo plans on leaving them in Junior (or wherever they play) for season, not rush them.
Relatively recent history would suggest this is the way to go, especially if they don't plan to compete next year. See Kotkaniemi,.Galchenyuk,.Latendresse, these players could have all used a season to season.
Maybe he's too good to go back to junior? He'll at least get the 9 game trial run wherever he ends up. The rest of them for sure, Cooley, Slaf, etc. are going back to development leagues. Depending on the goaltending situation (no Price) the Habs are a lottery team.
Sounds like mcsplooge has been fired. Too funny if true, didn't even last a year. He must have been a spur of the moment hire by Melnyk, no way Doiron would hire that clown.
Also sounds like the leafool honeymoon with Johnny Toronto may be over. Good luck trying to shed that contract. Would Leapin' Lou take him back on the island? Doubtful, I'm just happy J.T. wouldn't take biceps bergy's phone call.
Interesting about mcsplooge. Of course that means he'll be back in the airwaves next season.
Riley Kidney's Titan are.in town. I really should go see him. But not sure if could manage.
Yeah I'll take Drouin's failed 6 years/$33M over Pyjama Boy's 7 years/$77M thank you very much. If you disappear in the playoffs, you ain't worth $11 let alone $11M.
My first prediction came true, a game early. Sorry Preds, everybody knew the Avs would be strong I guess. This is huge for them to be fresh for Round 2. Hope they make it to the final.
Darryl Sutter famously said (great quote btw) playing Colorado in the 1st round would be a waste of 8 days. Very prophetic.
I enjoyed the new Dr. Strange movie, very dark and a little complicated perhaps for non-MCU watchers, it did have a horror movie feel.
My Sea Dogs won last night, they figured out Rimouski's trap game and I think they will close it out tonight.
I won't be watching the lottery dropping of buttman's balls, it's trivia night and I wouldn't have watched the leafnet bullshit show anyway. Good luck to the Habs!
Hey 29...sadly I am in tranna this week as my mother remains in palative care. I did find a really rough bar in the South East end of Oshawa last night with 'mixed ability"karaoke and some Irish Red beer as well as 3 big screens playing loads of hockey. They were selling jager shos for 5 bucks. Might go back tonight for open mic night and to watch the leaf lose to the bolts...
Can't believe the Habs pick 1st...lets see how this goes. Thought they had no salary space left after fuck face signed everyone to lifetime contracts and 8 year deals...
Shane Wright has to be a happy camper tonight. He's going to be a Montreal Canadien instead of an Arizona Arsewipe. The only people who might be happier are Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton.
Montreal picks 1st in EVERY round. Clark Kent has some serious draft capital to work with. Maybe he packages the extra 1st rounder with his own 2nd rounder to move up even further in the 1st round? I'll guarantee he is not picking 14 times in this draft.
So we get three picks in the first 33 slots. This is gonna be great. Drive the tank next season to let the younglings get growed up and bring on the 2023 draft. Then away we go. Dump some cap trouble snag a free agent and then be patient. WooHoo. Go Habs
Happy last game of the season!
ReplyDeleteI have a recollection from long ago one of our regulars saying they were fans of Kay Adams. Since it's NFL draft weekend I was tuning into GMFB this morning and snapped a shot for them. Maybe Oleg? Or Chester? Anyway there ya go.

TFS gets the start. Well then!
ReplyDelete4-1 Habs after the first, which I missed entirely. Missed Harris's first NHL goal too, dang it!
ReplyDeleteGood to see the Habs give Carey a 4 goal cushion even if it's against the AHL Panthers. Sure hope they don't blow it.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see JordaCHe (giving that a try for Harris) get his 1st. Lucky bounce off a defender but they all count.
20 in 36 for CC under Marty. That's about a 45 goal pace. Not too shabby.
It was noce of TFS to let Eggs score one.
DeleteJust to be clear, these last two games are kind of false advertising, right?
ReplyDeleteI think it just proves this team would have a very good shot at winning the Calder Cup. But I still think it's probably better for the psyche heading into golf season.
DeleteI think the team memory banks need to be wiped clean of this past season.
DeleteAs for golf, some of the local courses are open, but you'd freeze to death the last few days. It was snowing up in Miramichi and points north today.
Oh wow. That 2nd goal of Caufield's!👀
ReplyDeleteTouchdown!
ReplyDeleteOoh, that reminds me, I have to see who the Giants drafted today. I like the two big guys they picked yesterday.
DeleteAnd you must be thrilled that they declined the 5th year option on Jones.
DeletePretty quiet off season for my team. Davante Parker...meh.
This is Jones 'prove it' year. If he is a turnover machine again, the Giants cut him loose and draft a QB in 2023. I say it happens.
DeleteSpeaking of golf, again, Habs put up a snowman. I hate that on a par 4.
ReplyDeleteWow, a 10 spot. I wouldn't write that on the score card. After 9 strokes I pick up and head to the next hole. That hasn't happened in a long time.
ReplyDelete10 goals for #10, and Whiskey's first hat trick.
ReplyDeleteEven if it was against an AHL squad, lots of positives in the final game.
ReplyDeleteTFS got a win
Whiskey bagged a Hatty, one goal shy of the rookie lead
Harris scores his first
Type it! finally scored one in probably his last game as a Hab
Price had some fun with Eggs after giving him one in the first
Put up 10 for Guy! Guy! Guy!
Gonna be an interesting off season.
Hate to say it, but Go Bolts!

ReplyDeleteFiring ducharme may be the best move, the bergevin dismissal a close second even though that had to happen first. It saved Cole Caufield's career.

Just like SiM predicted, Phil Danault with the winner last night. I wonder if he speaks to biceps bergy?
ReplyDeleteI'll best there was another circle jerk last night at SFU HQ. And they probably didn't last long.
Not do sure about the Bolts storming back though.
DeleteBeautiful ceremony celebrating the inimitable Guy Lafleur.

ReplyDeleteRiley Kidney's Titan are.in town. I really should go see him. But not sure if could manage.
Yeah I'll take Drouin's failed 6 years/$33M over Pyjama Boy's 7 years/$77M thank you very much. If you disappear in the playoffs, you ain't worth $11 let alone $11M.
McSplooge got flushed, that tells me Ottawa does not want to win ever.
DeletePFK doing colour for the Preds and Avs is kinda weir... He looks like a young Don King... 😅
ReplyDeleteMy first prediction came true, a game early. Sorry Preds, everybody knew the Avs would be strong I guess. This is huge for them to be fresh for Round 2. Hope they make it to the final.
ReplyDeleteDarryl Sutter famously said (great quote btw) playing Colorado in the 1st round would be a waste of 8 days. Very prophetic.
DeleteI enjoyed the new Dr.
Kind of wish I'd gone to see Beans put a beatdown on the Mooseheads last night,.putting up a goal and 3 assists in an 8-1 drubbing.
DeleteI'll tune into the crock. I've got Philly and Az with picks 1 and 2. Unless Guy! Guy! Guy! does indeed have a bit of magic left.
Besides that I think I'll check out the pilot of the new Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Just like a urologist, I like me some #1.
ReplyDeleteSTSNW is excellent! Best Star Trek show in decades. The original U.S.S Enterprise is back and Anson Mount as Pike is top notch.
DeleteGood old fashioned Star Trek storytelling. Can't beat it. Yep Anson Mount is perfect in the role. As he was in Hell on Wheels.
DeleteI was so disappointed with Picard this season with all the angst and flashbacks from his childhood.
And we draft at NUMBER ONE!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHow nice. No Wickenheisers please HUGO
DeleteThe discussion starts and ends with Shane Wright. May not be the fastest skater but like Nature, a fast thinker.
ReplyDelete#1 PICK!!!!11!!!!!!111111
ReplyDeleteHi everyone hope you are well. I'm still alive I swear!
ReplyDeleteBoy it's been so long I was here the comment box changed. I like it!
ReplyDelete*Since* I was here. This new comment box has taken away my admin edit privileges!
DeleteI am looking through this thread and am very happy to see a whole bunch of names I know and love
ReplyDelete@steve @theM @SiM @Saint Pad @UK3X @CHester I hope you are all well
DeleteHey 29...sadly I am in tranna this week as my mother remains in palative care.
DeleteI want to thank moeman for keeping the flambeau burning around here. Don't think I haven't noticed
ReplyDeleteThanks Prof.
Deletep.s. we are so gonna fuck up this first pick
ReplyDeleteMailloux can't strike twice.
Delete29 is alive!
ReplyDeleteEven if it's Wrong, the pick's gotta be Wright. BPA. Period.
Can't believe the Habs pick 1st...lets see how this goes. Thought they had no salary space left after fuck face signed everyone to lifetime contracts and 8 year deals...
ReplyDeleteOn May *10* the Habs win the draft lottery! A parting gift from #10, thank you Flower!
ReplyDeleteShane Wright has to be a happy camper tonight. He's going to be a Montreal Canadien instead of an Arizona Arsewipe. The only people who might be happier are Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see HF29 in da house for a visit!
Montreal picks 1st in EVERY round. Clark Kent has some serious draft capital to work with. Maybe he packages the extra 1st rounder with his own 2nd rounder to move up even further in the 1st round? I'll guarantee he is not picking 14 times in this draft.
ReplyDeleteLet the great rebuilding of the CH begin!
DeleteSo we get three picks in the first 33 slots.
DeleteThis is gonna be great.
Drive the tank next season to let the younglings get growed up and bring on the 2023 draft.
Then away we go. Dump some cap trouble snag a free agent and then be patient.
WooHoo.
Go Habs
A 29 sighting, nice !
