Seems like KH is working hard to get another pick in the Top 10, possibly even #2. OK then, as long as the deal doesn't include Josh Anderson go for it. You've got Gallagher, Hoffman, Armia, Drouin (ha ha) to pick from.
And as for Jeff Petry, I know he wants to go home but with all the gun violence in the U.S., I'd be trying to get my family INTO Canada, not out. I actually hope he stays.
Started in new job in my organization yesterday. Might be a shit show...seems to be lots of disgruntlement. It's a 6 month term, I can always check out if it's as bad as some make it out to be.
To The M, SNW is by far the best ST. And I'll include the OG in that statement. As I've mentioned, so long as they stick to the 'alien of the week' format for the most part, I'm happy. Was sad to see the chief go, I liked that character.
I agree about Powerhorse. I'd trade him for nothing less than a top 10 pick...and no GM in their right mind would do that. Would they?
Also would love to keep Dish. But it seems KH made up his mind long ago that he would accommodate the trade request if at all possible. I think he finds a suitor willing to pay a lot more than what McDonagh got. Otherwise, no bueno.
@Saint Paddy, I too was sad to see Hemmer go. Rumour has it Season 2 will introduce a young Scotty in engineering, in Star Trek literature he served under Pike. Good Luck with the new gig!
Just my opinion but, Wright > Slaf. If Wright projects to be a Bergeron/O'Reilly type center you take him.
I think they'll grab the top two picks with a trade or something. Wright and Slaf. Or maybe not. I just hope Czar escapes Russia and gets back here safe and sound.
They will platoon Pomme, Monte CHristo and TFS all season. TFS will play one game a week, tops. Save his knees and keep up his conditioning and sharpness until the team in front of him contends again.
Not one for rumours but imagining if HuGo pulls off making trade(s) to get another top 5-7 Draft pick. Ottawa apparently interested in Horse and Devo ?
I think I would be sick to my stomach if Montreal trades those two to Ottawa. Those two are worth way more than #7. Besides, why help a rival? Trade them to a western team if you have to.
Stellar indeed. Breezeby finally released from the trunk, that's good. I think Knuckles lost a few followers when he went off on Drouin. But he was a man and apologized and you couldn't ask for a more passionate ex Hab. Carbo of course is a no brainer. And you can't have too many Vinnies in the org.
A lot of this 'trade Josh' is just media driven click-bait rubbish. There are many other players I would before him. I would put Josh in with Nick, CC and Tsar as an untouchable. I suspect he will be playing on a line with Wright next season. Hughes will be moving Dish and the Hoff tonight or tomorrow for his cap space. He will likely be packaging picks and maybe a prospect or two to move up into the Top 15, maybe 10, to get Cutter or Lekko2.0. And, fuck Ottawa.
It took years to sign a horse you just can’t let him go unless it’s for the no 2 pick and we get that slavic kid same player just younger I agree with Saint Paddy If we trade the horse and Devo we are going all in for 2023 That with dish gone and TFS out that leaves a pretty bare cupboard and our last couple of vets probably gone at the 2023 trade deadline I’m smelling complete tear down Go Habs
I think Hughes said they don't want to do a complete tear down and would like to be somewhat competitive. It all depends on what happens with the goaltending. If Price can play 40 games they might compete, if it's Allen and Monty they could be in trouble. Once Dish is gone the D will be young(er) but hopefully Harris, Guhle or Norlinder can fill in for him. One more sleep!
Hey FHFers! I'm late to the party, had a late tee time today but I'm here and ready to rock! Shot a 79 today, my third sub 80 round in a row. Surely the golf gods are going to strike back soon. Anyway, I'm breaking out the 18 year old scotch tonight to either celebrate the drafting of Shane Wright or drown my sorrows if Hughes goes off script.
I see the 'Turds traded their 1st round pick for Debrincat, thank goodness, we can put those silly Powerhorse rumours to rest. Can't we?
Well, that was a surprise BUT I'm cool with what HuGo is doing. When snipers like Lafleur and Bossy are the foundation of the evening, Slaf was almost a given. Welcome to the Habs young man.
I guess Grant McCagg is feeling vindicated. Oh well, Shane Wright will haunt the Habs for the next decade and a half. I was going to buy his rookie card but that's out the window.
Man I'm bummed about Czar. He was my favourite, even above Nick and Cole.
I don't know much about Dach but I see he scored 26 pts in 70 games last year... And he's a former 3rd overall pick, I hope he pans out better than gCHuk and KK.

Eric Engels mentioned Czar is indeed still in Russia. Could be HuGo won't say so, but don't want the distraction in the room of the constant worry. What will happen if...? What will they do to my family members if...?
I guess the answer to that will come over the weekend if we see any Ruskies picked or obtained in trades.
I had this terrible dream last night that Montreal drafted Turner Stevenson 1st over all and traded away a fan favourite defenceman who hits like a truck for Bryan Boyle.
Watched the draft last night. Was surprised to see Slaf picked first but I am not a pro hockey scout so what do I know. What I do know about is attitude and I saw a lot of bad attitude from Wright. Sat alone, didn't interact much with other picks. I think the Habs made the right call. Gonna miss Czar but maybe - will make us all forget him. Gonna use a - until the new guy gets a better nick. Today should be fun!
Shane Wright gave the Habs table a death stare when he finished the pic with buttman He’s full of himself I like the slovak He left home and lived alone so he could play hockey And we got a no 3 pic 6’4” center from chi I’ll miss romy but his contract was coming up and we have lots of left Ds I think Hugo’s did a win win Go Habs
Too soon to agree with you theM. HuGo have got this. I expect more moves today. Already liking Juraj (George in Slovakian, early nick suggestion is Coco (see Seinfeld)). Also Mezar good be a find and he's besties with Coco. Also, Nature on stage is a sign.
Started watching on tva (jokingly called tivia on the Twitter machine. Couldn't stand but 5 minutes and ended up on snet. Muted maguire. Their pro scout Constantino? is good. Amber sucked leaf. Friedman is getting fatter by the day.
First, no one needs to apologize to me for offering their opinions, that's what this forum is all about.
I kind of agree with the 'entitled' vibe from Wright but I would have still picked the center over the LW. I'm not sold on the Slaf hype, he could very well be the next Kid KoHo, highly over-rated. I bet he goes back to Finland for next season. We'll have to see about Dach, he's still very young. I will give credit to HuGo for executing their plan, they went for it and I hope it pans out. I still expect a very young Montreal team to struggle next season, let's hope the fans at the Bell center can remain patient as this rebuild continues.
Rip "Pine Barrens" is often ranked as one of the best episodes of The Sopranos, and it's arguably Paulie Walnuts' finest hour as a comedic force in the show. While on the phone, Tony tells Paulie that the guy they're pursuing is an ex-commando who killed sixteen Chechen rebels with the Interior Ministry.
Paulie mishears him, telling Chris, "You're not gonna believe this. He killed sixteen Czechoslovakians. The guy was an interior decorator!" To this, Chris famously quips, "His house looked like s***!" It's a flawless exchange, showing off just how great the chemistry between Michael Imperioli and Tony Sirico was
i can remember a time when the habs didnt go more than 7 yrs w/o a cup. i can also remember a time when the habs would refuse to lose a cup final on home ice.
i think all of yas are largely mental. all of us were loving the czar and blasting the team for not playing him more during that cup run. all of us were saying he was factor x and the habs were stupid not to use him to smash up those lightning bolts.
now... i cant help but summarise they traded czar for dach! all those useless moves accomplished nothing! actually they downgraded by aquiring dach instead of keeping czar! if they dropped czar and aquired debrincat... then i would say its a wash, but this isnt what they did.
Hugo is aggressive and plays the long ball. Conventual wisdom was with us and Right dropped to 4th. Everything hinges on Kirby, does he even need a nick with that first name. Confucius say never take a center with 3rd overall pick. Surprised we let a guy with a name like Jagger Firkus slip past. Devo should not put any food in the freezer. CaN you imagine in two years a line Powerhorse Kerby and Slaf, tough to play against.
Lane Hudson will always be known as boneage. You see he is five foot nothing, but his boneage is only about 14. So he will probably get up to at least 5 eight.
Oleg as I mentioned, not happy about losing Czar at all. I'm just at that point where I decide to not worry about shit that's out of my hands. So instead I'll wish Romy the best and hope our stable of up and coming stud dmen pan out. Even writing this though makes me sad that he's gone. Dach better up his game in a hurry, that's all I know.
After doing lots of reading the yesterday and this morning, I am on board with HuGo's plan. I will always submit that Wright was the pick and will ultimately be the best player from this draft. Seattle and Ron Francis are thanking their lucky stars. However, Hughes had his ducks in a row before he picked his player having the Romanov for Dach trade already set to go. If Dach develops as projected it's a win for the Habs. I look at this as the move bargainbin should have pulled off when he dumped PFK, he needed a center but instead just swapped Dmen. That was some great thinking from Hughes. It will be interesting to see what else Hughes has up his sleeve the next few days.
How about Chicago? They are obviously going into tank mode, Fail Hard For Bedard or any of the other top prospects in 2023.
I have done the math. Yes the hard math that predicts what a draft pick does from time of birth to Stanley cup/ Hugo did so much math it broke Rodgers.
Saint Paddy: thank u for being honest! are u the only one here who is?!? two yrs ago, all of us were absolutely in love with czar and over the moon over how he has developed to be our tip D prospect. tintin, beaulieau, mete, kadillac, juulsen, bilodeau... can any of u argue czar was developed worse than any of these? all the prospect D-men in the pipes are just that, paper studs. czar has and did prove himself. he is now a known quantity. well done to the islanders for making us look like monkeys.
on wright, i liked that death stare. it shows the kid has a chip on his shoulder and will do everything he can to make MTL, ARZ and NJ look stupid and regret this for the rest of his career. that's natural motivation and that's absolutely priceless.
oleg, yes, it was a shame to lose Tsar but as Kent Hughes has stated, you have to give to get. Fans always want to trade their junk for other team's stars but that's not how it works. Tsar is a known commodity but he may have reached his ceiling and Hughes said he probably wasn't going to be able to run a powerplay. Also, he was a left handed shot and the Habs are loaded with those. Guhle hits just as hard and probably has more offensive upside so I am not worried. If Lane Hutson can grow two more inches in height and add about 20 pounds he could be the new Urologist. Finally, if Kirby can find his potential under Coach Marty the Habs may be set at center for the next decade or more.
Churby he is like seasme st chacter that plays hockey, who can not figure out the game. Hopefully the player whisper man, the in like Lou Reed I wann play for the coaCH sound. I think we will see CHurgy become a very solid 1a 2z
Regardless of where the Habs finish in the standings next season, I'm looking forward to watching exciting offensive oriented hockey featuring all the youth (or 'ute' as Steve says) leading the way.
Looks like the Habs won't have any more Shiny Happy Pitlicks.
WTF, the leaf are really grasping at straws with Matt Murray. Somebody should tell Dumbass that Murray won his Cups in Pittsburgh with Crosby and Malkin, not matthews and marner. Big difference.
Shiny Happy will be baCH. Leaf miss the playoffs. Leaf miss the playoffs. Dumbass goes back to thunder bay. Insert Parady of Minglewood, something about a Dumbass he does not want to go back to Thunderbay never having won a playoff round.
So I’m liking our two big boys Hugo’s got some balls to trade Czar but they were targeting CHurby for a while They had a plan So many years of bisep burgy and his dumpster diving while crossing fingers and growling at the press This is refreshing And until proven otherwise I’m on the Hugo bus Nothing wrong with 6’4” hockey players Go Habs
Funny, after all the excitement of the draft and the HuGo wheelin' and dealin', I could care less about free agent frenzy tomorrow. Maybe the dynamic duo pull off the Dish trade, or some other cap clearing maneuver, but as the Bard said, "It's Much Ado About Nothing." Actually, I am kind of curious to see what happens with Malkin. I don't want him on the Habs, he's too old now, maybe Boston takes a shot at him? Washington maybe, that would be interesting.
I think we are all learning to appreciate the new type of team management we have. I expect at least 2-3 players moving on. It will be interesting to see who 'wins' these trades. if they had no problem trading a fan favourite like Tzar, for a needed positional piece, then anything is possible.
bergy had his strong points and he got the CH into the finals. This is his legacy. The new team is not going with that way forward. They are going with depth and depth and more depth, that can pass the puck recieve the puck and not be a stick where the play dies.
TSN's Pierre Lebrun says Kadillak is going to get an offer to come back to Mtl tomorrow once he officially becomes a UFA. There will be other teams making offers too but I wouldn't mind seeing him back. Not much experience on the blue line.
Let's try to remember, even though the Habs won't finish 32nd this season (Arizona and Chicago are tanking HARD), they will probably be bottom 10. Don't trade the 1st round pick, it could still be a winning ticket in 2023.
Larry Dolphin going back to the Desert with the Coyote Uglys.
Charlie Lindgren (CHill?) goes to the Caps on a pretty decent salary, just over a cool Mil/year.
Domini gets one year in the Black Hole of Chi-town, good luck to him.
Chariot of Eggs in MoTown, looks like Dish is out of luck there.
Kaddilak gets a good deal in his home town of Edmonton, I like him, highly underrated.
Hey Michael Farber, I like you, but losing Leko isn't on Kent Hughes and MSL, blame that of biceps bergy and the Cap mess he left behind, the Habs have no money bud.
I'm glad to see Eric Staal get reunited with his brother Marc in Florida. That line of Eric, CHomodore and G.I. Finn was fucking awesome in the 2021 playoffs.
Looking at the rest of the league, the Habs are in fucking trouble, could be a bottom 5 finish. The silver lining, it's a generational draft like 2003, please don't draft another Big TiTs.
Wow! The Golden Showers gave up Nick Suzuki, Sauce, plus for Max and now have dumped Max to the classless Jerks for SFA. They also gave up a 1, 2, 3 to Detroit for Tuna before that, I think that pushy owner has meddled with his management team thinking he had a Cup winner after that fluky first season. They are going to crash hard.
The best is the leaf. They are for sure worse than last year. The goaltending is two hail mary passes from a dropped ball. As I said before they do not make the playoffs and Narco asks for a trade.
Doesn’t look like they are breaking down the doors to trade for dish Hugo is playing it the right way No need to dump him I think a lot of this has to do with his wife We shall see Wouldn’t hurt to have him playing D for us get some time under Marty Push his stock up In a perfect world he is a premier D man we should get lots for him Go Habs
Absolutely, hang on to Petry if need be. DO NOT give picks away or retain salary.
One of moe's favourite Postmedia columnists, Michael Traikos, in the local morning paper, listed his winners and losers from yesterday's free agent signings. To no one's surprise the leaf were winners for 'upgrading' their goaltending. Gee, they finally won something, I guess. LOL, I can't wait to see the wheels fall off that wagon this season.
I'm watching The Open this morning, of course all eyes are on Tiger Woods. He opens with a double bogey and looks like he will bogey the 3rd hole. I'll bet he doesn't make the cut and I wouldn't be surprised if he withdraws if he is 5 or more over par today.
Good stuff theM. Haven't read Traikos in quite a while. Use to be on good speaking terms with him and McGran (?) of the Star. Both have lemminged themselves.
I read that Murray is still in concussion protocol. He's had four of those now. Not really sure why they think he's a better option than Campbell, who the Oilers just scooped up for five years.
Development was a concept that NHL pros pooh poohed. Its like the we dont need no stinking badges scene in Blazing Saddles. Now we have people who recognize that kids who skate bad and cant accelerate can do something else than playing at a higher level until they fail. The best example of this is Le Brow. Now we are teaching great skaters to skate better and teaching guys who one day wil be in a Red Bull Commercial filmed in Quebec city. So now like every knows to turn a sows ear into a feather bed takes some time. I walk and talk at the same time. My gate would be considered a little eccentric by some. Point is I learned how to walk better, I got a bicycle.
Yes thank Dish or as they say in the south a peach treed dish. He was a great player and when it was needed most a great tank commander. EAP I read he skates like a slinggy and will never succeed in the NHL, best of luck. Jon Luc, just wait can have him for free in two years. What are we going to do with him now. Hope Pits wins the cup.
Shiny Happy Pitlick is back ! HuGo is slowly getting some cap space available. I like the pickup of Montreal native Mike Matheson, there was talk of the Habs acquiring him years ago when he was in Florida. Another draft pick for next year as well. I can take another year of rebuilding, you can see all the talent that has been acquired, some of it even on the Biceps Bros. watch. Rome wasn't built in a day.
Partying with my bros and spouses in PEI anxiously waiting for daughter 2 to arrive from Ottawa...taking longer than it should....an ETA of 1130pm. We'll all be well sauced by then.
Thank you Dish. You were great (most of the time) and I enjoyed watching you play. EAP 1wish you'd have put more into it and stuck around but it is what it is. Welcome Matty..
Gonna add my thoughts on PLD. I am reading a lot of stories about him coming here, wanting to play here etc. That's all nice but why on earth would the Habs want to drama that goes with bringing in a local boy who reads his own reviews a bit too much? I say hard pass on PLD unless Hugo can get him in a straight swap for Druid. A bit of a like for like trade but I guess he'd cost more than 1 washed up wannabe.
Regarding Dish, I always liked him, great skater with some offensive ability. He made mistakes sure, but who doesn't. I thought he was money in the bank in OT, a couple years ago at least. I also thought he was a great 2nd pair D, not quite a #1 or 2. Douche-harm nearly ruined him but Marty came on and saved him.
@SiM, that is quite a turnover on the D, three of biceps bergy's four Clydesdales are gone to be replaced by sleek Arab stallions. Some folks aren't happy with Mike Matheson but his metrics look good and he can skate so he isn't Karl Alzner.
Finally, regarding Jean Luc, I would take a pass on him as well. I certainly would not trade Powerhorse for him. I read last night Chevy wanted Suzuki and HuGo hung up. Yeah, that's a non starter. The Jets have zero leverage in this situation.
Gotta move Hoffman, not Powerhorse. The centres ate in place and I don't see ant need for PLD either. Maybe Army will get attention toward the trade deadline with his "Big Game" rep but not before. I think things are mostly set now but PK returning on a sweetheart deal might make sense, guven we aren't going to win anything anytime soon.
We need to tank, dive deeper and faster while still delopinging winning teams. I did this my whole life. The Habs have tol do at least 3 seasons if the goal is the cup.
Seems like KH is working hard to get another pick in the Top 10, possibly even #2. OK then, as long as the deal doesn't include Josh Anderson go for it. You've got Gallagher, Hoffman, Armia, Drouin (ha ha) to pick from.

They'll draft Shane and he'll dig the team outta the hole just.like he did with that giant tree stump.

Czar isn't the puck-moving d-man they want as a building block, and they used him to get the big talented C they needed. Give it time. GYFMHG
Nyet Nyet Soviet, DA DA SLovakia
ReplyDeleteEric Engels mentioned Czar is indeed still in Russia. Could be HuGo won't say so, but don't want the distraction in the room of the constant worry. What will happen if...? What will they do to my family members if...?
DeleteI guess the answer to that will come over the weekend if we see any Ruskies picked or obtained in trades.
So how did our rivals the Leaf do in R1? No goalies left, nobody added? All fine, surely. Captain Underpants can line his trophiesupon the goal line.
ReplyDeleteI had this terrible dream last night that Montreal drafted Turner Stevenson 1st over all and traded away a fan favourite defenceman who hits like a truck for Bryan Boyle.
ReplyDeleteOK, so it wasn't a dream. So, the plan is MOAR bigger?
DeleteWatched the draft last night.
ReplyDeleteShane Wright gave the Habs table a death stare when he finished the pic with buttman
ReplyDeleteHe’s full of himself
I like the slovak
He left home and lived alone so he could play hockey
And we got a no 3 pic 6’4” center from chi
I’ll miss romy but his contract was coming up and we have lots of left Ds
I think Hugo’s did a win win
Go Habs
Too soon to agree with you theM. HuGo have got this. I expect more moves today. Already liking Juraj (George in Slovakian, early nick suggestion is Coco (see Seinfeld)). Also Mezar good be a find and he's besties with Coco. Also, Nature on stage is a sign.
ReplyDeleteStarted watching on tva (jokingly called tivia on the Twitter machine. Couldn't stand but 5 minutes and ended up on snet. Muted maguire. Their pro scout Constantino? is good. Amber sucked leaf. Friedman is getting fatter by the day.
ReplyDeleteAwesome golf score theM. You could probably make some serious coin on the LIV tour. ; )
ReplyDeleteApologies to the M, but like some others here, I get a serious jerk-jock vibe from Wright actually. Positively Lindrosy.
ReplyDeleteBeck! Nick must NOT be Loser, however.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Kenny, since "so why don't you kill me?"
DeleteDevil's Haircut
DeleteUnbelievable, super cool, outrageous and amazing, Phenomenal, fantastic, so incredible, woo-hoo
DeleteNo Ruskies picked by HuGo at all. Intrigue?
ReplyDeleteI was forgetting Dadanov
DeleteFirst, no one needs to apologize to me for offering their opinions, that's what this forum is all about.
ReplyDeleteI kind of agree with the 'entitled' vibe from Wright but I would have still picked the center over the LW.
RIP Tony Sirico
ReplyDeleteSuch sad news... RIP Pauline Walnuts..
DeleteRip "Pine Barrens" is often ranked as one of the best episodes of The Sopranos, and it's arguably Paulie Walnuts' finest hour as a comedic force in the show. While on the phone, Tony tells Paulie that the guy they're pursuing is an ex-commando who killed sixteen Chechen rebels with the Interior Ministry.
DeletePaulie mishears him, telling Chris, "You're not gonna believe this. He killed sixteen Czechoslovakians. The guy was an interior decorator!" To this, Chris famously quips, "His house looked like s***!" It's a flawless exchange, showing off just how great the chemistry between Michael Imperioli and Tony Sirico was
hey SiM.... damm right never change!
ReplyDeletei can remember a time when the habs didnt go more than 7 yrs w/o a cup.
i can also remember a time when the habs would refuse to lose a cup final on home ice.
i think all of yas are largely mental. all of us were loving the czar and blasting the team for not playing him more during that cup run. all of us were saying he was factor x and the habs were stupid not to use him to smash up those lightning bolts.
now... i cant help but summarise they traded czar for dach! all those useless moves accomplished nothing! actually they downgraded by aquiring dach instead of keeping czar! if they dropped czar and aquired debrincat... then i would say its a wash, but this isnt what they did.
im ticked and all of you should be too.
We already have a bearcat, Whiskey will pot more than bearcat this year.
DeleteHugo is aggressive and plays the long ball. Conventual wisdom was with us and Right dropped to 4th. Everything hinges on Kirby, does he even need a nick with that first name. Confucius say never take a center with 3rd overall pick. Surprised we let a guy with a name like Jagger Firkus slip past.
ReplyDeleteDevo should not put any food in the freezer.
CaN you imagine in two years a line Powerhorse Kerby and Slaf, tough to play against.
CHurby
DeleteLane Hudson will always be known as boneage. You see he is five foot nothing, but his boneage is only about 14. So he will probably get up to at least 5 eight.
ReplyDeleteOleg as I mentioned, not happy about losing Czar at all. I'm just at that point where I decide to not worry about shit that's out of my hands. So instead I'll wish Romy the best and hope our stable of up and coming stud dmen pan out. Even writing this though makes me sad that he's gone. Dach better up his game in a hurry, that's all I know.
ReplyDeleteAfter doing lots of reading the yesterday and this morning, I am on board with HuGo's plan.
ReplyDeleteHow about Chicago? They are obviously going into tank mode, Fail Hard For Bedard or any of the other top prospects in 2023.
I have done the math. Yes the hard math that predicts what a draft pick does from time of birth to Stanley cup/ Hugo did so much math it broke Rodgers.
ReplyDeleteSaint Paddy: thank u for being honest! are u the only one here who is?!? two yrs ago, all of us were absolutely in love with czar and over the moon over how he has developed to be our tip D prospect. tintin, beaulieau, mete, kadillac, juulsen, bilodeau... can any of u argue czar was developed worse than any of these? all the prospect D-men in the pipes are just that, paper studs. czar has and did prove himself. he is now a known quantity. well done to the islanders for making us look like monkeys.
ReplyDeleteon wright, i liked that death stare. it shows the kid has a chip on his shoulder and will do everything he can to make MTL, ARZ and NJ look stupid and regret this for the rest of his career. that's natural motivation and that's absolutely priceless.
We have learned from the past, trading stud D men for a useless winger. This time we traded for a center who needs even more polish.
Deleteoleg, yes, it was a shame to lose Tsar but as Kent Hughes has stated, you have to give to get.
DeleteChurby he is like seasme st chacter that plays hockey, who can not figure out the game. Hopefully the player whisper man, the in like Lou Reed I wann play for the coaCH sound. I think we will see CHurgy become a very solid 1a 2z
DeleteRegardless of where the Habs finish in the standings next season, I'm looking forward to watching exciting offensive oriented hockey featuring all the youth (or 'ute' as Steve says) leading the way.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the Habs won't have any more Shiny Happy Pitlicks.
ReplyDeleteWTF, the leaf are really grasping at straws with Matt Murray.
DeleteGonna miss the fun with his name. He played a littlr too well to fit under the HuGoForIt plan
DeleteToo well to fit undrr the cap that is
DeleteSo I’m liking our two big boys
ReplyDeleteHugo’s got some balls to trade Czar but they were targeting CHurby for a while
They had a plan
So many years of bisep burgy and his dumpster diving while crossing fingers and growling at the press
This is refreshing
And until proven otherwise I’m on the Hugo bus
Nothing wrong with 6’4” hockey players
Go Habs
They's all smart and strategic-like eh? Gotta respect their deep knowledge is way beyond ours.
DeleteFunny, after all the excitement of the draft and the HuGo wheelin' and dealin', I could care less about free agent frenzy tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI think we are all learning to appreciate the new type of team management we have. I expect at least 2-3 players moving on. It will be interesting to see who 'wins' these trades. if they had no problem trading a fan favourite like Tzar, for a needed positional piece, then anything is possible.
ReplyDeletebergy had his strong points and he got the CH into the finals. This is his legacy.
DeleteThe new team is not going with that way forward. They are going with depth and depth and more depth, that can pass the puck recieve the puck and not be a stick where the play dies.
No more dump and chase and much more bixi bike
DeleteTSN's Pierre Lebrun says Kadillak is going to get an offer to come back to Mtl tomorrow once he officially becomes a UFA. There will be other teams making offers too but I wouldn't mind seeing him back. Not much experience on the blue line.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope all these PLD rumours are bullshit. They better not be trading Powerhorse for him or I WILL be pissed!
ReplyDeleteI don't want. Powerhorse is needed to mentor Slaffs
DeleteLet's try to remember, even though the Habs won't finish 32nd this season (Arizona and Chicago are tanking HARD), they will probably be bottom 10. Don't trade the 1st round pick, it could still be a winning ticket in 2023.
ReplyDeleteMalkin a Penguin for four more years. He and Kris Letang can grow old together in Pittsburgh.
ReplyDeleteHappy for Leko and the Avs. BicepsBergy never offered him a five-year deal.
ReplyDeleteYep good for him. 5 x $4.5 ain't too shabby. Good value for a true playoff performer and great 2 way player.
DeleteAll quiet on the Habs front. KH ain't giving Dish away so fans will need to be patient.
ReplyDeleteThe Montreal Candaiens have signed 2022 first overall pick Juraj Slafkovsky to a three-year, entry-level contract.
DeleteLarry Dolphin going back to the Desert with the Coyote Uglys.
ReplyDeleteCharlie Lindgren (CHill?) goes to the Caps on a pretty decent salary, just over a cool Mil/year.
Great summary the M! We don't need to be UFA signers. Too soon. Rebuilding underway. You gotta lay the foundation first. Finishings come after.
DeleteThe management summary that only Jeff Molson sees, has a tank on the cover.
DeleteWow!
ReplyDeletePaycheck loan shark is not the best model for a hockey team.
DeleteThe best is the leaf. They are for sure worse than last year. The goaltending is two hail mary passes from a dropped ball. As I said before they do not make the playoffs and Narco asks for a trade.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, just like the economy, the leaf are headed for a crash.
DeleteDoesn’t look like they are breaking down the doors to trade for dish
ReplyDeleteHugo is playing it the right way
No need to dump him
I think a lot of this has to do with his wife
We shall see
Wouldn’t hurt to have him playing D for us get some time under Marty
Push his stock up
In a perfect world he is a premier D man we should get lots for him
Go Habs
It may even be a case of Dish not wanting to leave as much as his wife does now that mgmt and coaching change makes things more fun for him.
DeleteAbsolutely, hang on to Petry if need be. DO NOT give picks away or retain salary.
ReplyDeleteOne of moe's favourite Postmedia columnists, Michael Traikos, in the local morning paper, listed his winners and losers from yesterday's free agent signings.
Meanwhile, McIlroy looks really good so far, shoots a 6 under 66, I'm rooting for him to win.
DeleteGood stuff theM. Haven't read Traikos in quite a while. Use to be on good speaking terms with him and McGran (?) of the Star. Both have lemminged themselves.
DeleteI read that Murray is still in concussion protocol. He's had four of those now. Not really sure why they think he's a better option than Campbell, who the Oilers just scooped up for five years.
DeleteSince I can barely type Mešàr and it's close to Missouri, let's just call him Kansas and be done with it.
ReplyDeleteSigned earlier to 3 yr entry contract I hear.
Kansas? Toto!
DeleteI hope Mesar goes to the Kitchener Rangers. I think they are a strong team, hopefully he would dominate in the OHL rather than the AHL.
DeleteHe is only 18, doesn't turn 19 until January, the OHL is the better option IMO.
DeleteThere will be more tanks in the NHL than than Ukraine/
ReplyDeleteIt will be ebarras et bare ass done wrong stuff
Development was a concept that NHL pros pooh poohed. Its like the we dont need no stinking badges scene in Blazing Saddles. Now we have people who recognize that kids who skate bad and cant accelerate can do something else than playing at a higher level until they fail. The best example of this is Le Brow. Now we are teaching great skaters to skate better and teaching guys who one day wil be in a Red Bull Commercial filmed in Quebec city.
ReplyDeleteSo now like every knows to turn a sows ear into a feather bed takes some time. I walk and talk at the same time. My gate would be considered a little eccentric by some.
Point is I learned how to walk better, I got a bicycle.
Good luck and thank you to Dish and EAP. Those guys will make Pittsburgh even better.
ReplyDeleteWhat's next, a mega trade for PLD? Sure is a lot of smoke out there.
DeleteShiny Happy Pitlick is back !
ReplyDeleteAlso good to have another veteran D back to buy some time for Harris, Guhle, Barron et al.
DeleteSo long, EAP and Dish. Hi Mike Matheson
ReplyDeleteAutomatic for the People, Hugo!
ReplyDeleteLove this!
DeletePartying with my bros and spouses in PEI anxiously waiting for daughter 2 to arrive from Ottawa...taking longer than it should....an ETA of 1130pm. We'll all be well sauced by then.
So long Dish and.EAP. thanks for the service.
Welcome Matty.
Living HuGo's moves.
*Loving
DeleteBiceps Bergy played checkers, HuGo is playing chess. The long game indeed...
ReplyDeleteD-men traded away by Hugo in past 5 months: Chiarot, Kulak, Weber, Romanov, Petry. What a huge changeover.
ReplyDeleteThank you Dish. You were great (most of the time) and I enjoyed watching you play. EAP 1wish you'd have put more into it and stuck around but it is what it is. Welcome Matty..
ReplyDeleteGonna add my thoughts on PLD.
ReplyDeleteShiny Happy is a pump and dump at the deadline for at least a third.
ReplyDeleteRegarding Dish, I always liked him, great skater with some offensive ability. He made mistakes sure, but who doesn't. I thought he was money in the bank in OT, a couple years ago at least. I also thought he was a great 2nd pair D, not quite a #1 or 2. Douche-harm nearly ruined him but Marty came on and saved him.
ReplyDelete@SiM, that is quite a turnover on the D, three of biceps bergy's four Clydesdales are gone to be replaced by sleek Arab stallions.
DeleteWe need to tank, dive deeper and faster while still delopinging winning teams. I did this my whole life. The Habs have tol do at least 3 seasons if the goal is the cup.
DeleteFor the people who said HuGo didn't get enough for Dish, what did McCrimmon get for Max? Nothing, other than cap space. Cash is king!
ReplyDeleteNo thanks to PFK, that ship has sailed. I'm looking forward to the youngsters playing.
No tanking will be necessary they won't win much anyway. Play silly for Fantilli.
