  2. Nice one moe!

I saw that roller derby pic on the Twitter and thought it might make an appearance here.

Well I've got the hatches pretty well battened down in preparation for Fiona. Hope she decides to veer a bit more southeast.

Hey the M I really enjoy watching the match play golf and with 2 Canadians in the International team even more so. But I just cringe everytime the "mercans make a putt and the USA chants come out. Internationals off so a slow start. Hope they can make a game of it.

Moe, hope your Steelers do better vs the hated Browns than they did vs the Pats 😬

    Cheers all. Hockey!

@Saint Paddy, I forgot golf was still on. I put all my deck furniture away, I'm hoping we don't get hit too hard here in Saint John. We were supposed to be golfing in eastern PEI this weekend, pretty sure that would have been a wasted trip.

Lots of injuries to open camp. Is there a black cloud hanging over this team? It could be another rough year but, lots of great draftees coming for 2023. Gotta be patient...

  4. Love the new banner, moe! So Nature and Munster smacked into each other on the ice and slightly injured themselves, Gorton said on TSN690 (as Twitter tells me), but let's not get too worked up about it yet. New analytics team in place will be able to gather a motherlode of data on the prospects over the 8 pre-season games this way, so there's yr Ag lining.

  7. The difference with this storm compared to most is that those winds will be hitting us from the north. Our rear neighbour is above us with a large tree towering over my shed and back of the house and directly north. That's the big thing I'll be watching for. Though I miss it, very happy I took my own monster of a tree down in 2020. Stay well FHFriends! I expect I'll be off line tomorrow, but knock wood, we don't usually lose power for long. Juan was 2-3 days in 2005 iirc.

Looks like southeastern N.B. is going to bear the brunt of this storm. Here in the southwestern part, we will be getting lots of rain and some hefty wing gusts. We seldom, if ever, lose power in my part of the city as all the power lines are underground.

Big, big crowd at Habs training camp. MSL bag skated them yesterday out of the gates, something Torts did in Tampa. Bet there are some sore legs today!

Stay Safe all Maritimer 4HF and all the people as well. This could be something never seen before so prepare for the worst. I am talking Zombies. Listen we love to lose this season, and maybe next. Then we take control of Canada, and then the USA, with that power comes many cups.

    ReplyDelete
  12. We fared well. Lost power for 2 hours overnight but are among the 20% in NS to have power in the morning. Some limbs down around the neighbourhood but all in all, pretty good. The main storm went a bit further east than predicted.

Fiona was pretty much a non-event here in southwest N.B.
Mostly some wind and not much rain. I feel for the folks in Cape Breton and PEI who bore the brunt of it. Looks like some iconic trees came down.

No need for an undersized 18 year old Robin to be rushed into the NHL, I don't care how slick he is. He should go play in Kitchener and tear up the OHL or, go back to Slovakia and play in the top league there. Batman can work alone for a while.

  17. I'm back! Power came back just in time to catch the Pats turn over the ball multiple times and our Canadian boys complete their choke jobs without a point in 8 matches at the Presidents Cup (golf).

Lots of destruction around. The main drag about half a click away had a tree take out six utility poles and a couple traffic signals. But for as much damage as we've seen here, it's nothing compared to folks on the north shore of NS, Cape Breton, all of PEI and western NF. Positive vibes to all those folks.

SFU will be in full force tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  28. steve6:17 PM

Well well well the masters of the SFU have blocked NHL live for Canadians. So you can sign up to their dastarly coin fleecing site, or you can go to http://onhockey.tv/. Caution yellow and all the rainbow because this site does not discriminate. However, the first think you will find it re directs. Copy the site that you are re directed to. Go to google setting or your equipotent for your browser.
    chrome://settings/content
    chrome://settings/content/popups
paste the address you have copied into the banned sites and four or five times later you can access on hockey.
Now that is the AHL level, which I experienced right now. The NHL level the speed is faster and the game is tougher. The site will redirect and then vanish and you are left at a google site. Two options and I have done them both. It depends upon how lucky you feel punk. You can try and copy the site in about 2 sec or just go to history , copy the site. I always pull out the fast gun.

No one stood out, and no one looked out of place on the Empty editions of the Habs. I would send all the UTES to Laval just to be propylatic. How many possible NHL players have been ruined playing to soon in Montreal. A thousand, two thousand who knows. For sure Batmann and Robin are going to be stars in this league at 2o. Slaf needs time to adapt to the ice, the speed and his body. Jordan Harris needs to dominate Adam Fox style in a smaller sandbox. Jackeye needs to learn details. Send them all back. CatCH and release baby.

Speaking of quarterbacks, late in the 4th quarter Jones hurt his ankle, Taylor came in and promptly got concussed and came out. They wouldn't let Jones go back out, so the center snapped the ball directly to Barkley twice on the drive. I think they call that 'the wildcat'. Anyway, Jones came back in and just handed the ball off. The Giants got lucky on a fumbled punt recovery and that was the game.

  46. I did not know this:

It’s also important to note that, if the Montreal Canadiens do, in fact, put in a claim on a player, they do not lose their priority to put a claim on another player moving forward. This is a rule that exists in fantasy sports leagues but is not decreed anywhere in the NHL’s collective bargaining agreement. The priority will be retained, despite making a previous claim, up until November 1.

Not sure there is anybody of interest being waived (like a serviceable RH Dman), but hey if we need another Subban in the organization, Malcom is on the list.

Yup, gonna be another long season but, the difference will be not trying to "just make the playoffs and anything can happen" bergy mantra but actually trying to acquire and develop talented players. I look forward to watching players like Nick, Cole, Kirby, Slaf et al play exciting hockey instead of eMpTy and Jabba rolling out 4th liners on the power play trying to win 1-0 all the time. Fuck that shit.

Happy Thanksgiving FHFers, we had a great turkey dinner at my son's place, they have taken over from us (thank goodness), although I did contribute with homemade stuffing and cranberries as well as an apple pie made with fresh apples we picked in a u-pick orchard up on the Kingston peninsula last weekend. Very pretty area between the Saint John and Kennebecasis rivers, you ahve to take a 5 minute ferry to get there.

And steve, I would take that trade, Drouin for Simmonds.

  82. Happy Canadian Thanksgiving everyone.

Made a big chili birthday dinner on Saturday.

    My son turns 30 tomorrow.

    He got Covid today.

    Everyone else checks out OK.

I got my fourth 10 days ago. All Moderna and last one was multi variant. I'm negative.

Fuck da SFU, da leaf and all toronto-based teams.

leafools and the SFU are going to be so conflicted this season, laughing and rejoicing at every Habs loss, yet secretly terrified Montreal will get Connor Bedard in 2023. I'm going to sit back and watch it all unfold.

  85. Slaf, Guhle and Harris on the opening night roster. AX watching from above. Times they are a changing. Let's see these guys developed properly and hope they get sent to the A if and when needed.

Sadly I have the late draw
in curling on Wednesday so will miss the opener. Perhaps mercifully. I'll record it and determine if it's with a watch.

    1. Army, Matheson and Munster being out is rather troubling. Looks like LB won't be back anytime soon either. Good thing Dach and MonaHab are here. That D is pretty shaky without the M&Ms

It's going to be a rough night for the young D against that offence. As long as AX punches narcos in the face I'm good.

  86. Bye bye Scott Smith and your entire Board of gangrape apologist-enablers. Hope you get jailed for obstructing justice once all the dust settles. Now let's see a new era built on accountability, responsibility and respect. The sport we all love can and must change.

  87. Munster went out for a full-gear skate this morning and I just took the Moderna bivalent Omicron buster as dose #4. Quebec roll-out of vaccination is a well-oiled machine. Legault is an old-school bigot but the CAQ got this one right.
