Still too early to call it, injuries and slumps can be a factor. If the Habs hang around the playoff race, KH will have to get creative to snag one of the top end centers available in 2023. In the meantime, let's enjoy watching Marty coach these youngsters to every unexpected win!
What a difference a year and a coach who knows what he's doing make. Last year this team would have folded up like a cheap tent down a goal. No more, they are never out of it.
So just saw a little vignettes with Iron Kaiden about how Edmonton will always be his home Just another pathetic piece of shit from the bigots at TVA Sickening Go Habs
It's a logjam and it's only 18% of the season, but as of this moment the Habs sit in a wildcard position.
Watching this brand of hockey, with all of the youngsters which has Arrogant Fuckface, Clod and DoHarm rolling in their coaching graves, has me more excited about this team probably since Roy was shown the door. There has been good moments in the years between, like Koivu, KovyOG, Price, etc but there's nothing like having a number one line of young up and coming stars.
Congrats to HuGo and also thanks to MB who does still have some fingerprints on important parts of this team.
We must find a way to tank, if it means trading Jake the Snake, so be it. Mcsplooges are all in agreement, Slaf would be at the end of the top ten in next years draft. There are 8 potential franchise players. We need one of those our we will continue to be stuck at 15 th overall for eternity.
I did not comment last night but stayed up late and watched the full game and OT. Loved the energy and jump. Started the 2nd flat but came back and fought out a win that last year was a sure loss. I enjoyed the game a lot and i say fuck da tank. MSL has the Habs playing fun to watch hockey and when you hafta stay up late to watch its much more worthwhile. Just fucking win
I'm in this boat too. Even Mrs. SiM, who is only a casual fan of the game, finds the team far more entertaining than the doldrums of past years she's wondered whatever I saw the point in caring about.
Good Morning FHFers, a few random thoughts from the Maritimes:
I don't know if anyone else noticed last night, at the start of the pre-game, mclame mumbled something about "we usually talk about the leaf but we are mandated tonight to talk about Vancouver and Montreal instead, wtf? because of the Rutherford/Boudreau situation and the fact that Montreal is so fucking good...
Gary Gawley, the motormouth meathead, said the story of the year so far in the NHL is the Montreal defence which is playing so well with FOUR rookies who look like veterans. He's not wrong IMO. Some people say AX is still weak in his own zone and makes mistakes, hah, you could say that about any defenceman. Marty has even said hockey is a game of mistakes, you just learn from them. You don't take WiFi off the team, did you see Zucker quickly reconsider going at AX last night? That is a priceless asset.
Like SiM said, those neanderthal coaches would destroy these players, look at poor gCHuk playing for Colorado in the AHL. Whiskey was headed for the same fate until Marty rescued him. DoHarm: "I have coached this way for 20 years and I'm not changing." MSL: "Guys, I've played this game for over 20 years, I'll teach you what to do."
As for the Tank, it's still a possibility to get into the bottom 8, but if the Habs stay healthy, they can be a tough out with all the firepower up front, they might only need .900 from the goalies to win games. Matt Drake at EOTP says the rebuild is still on, maybe a little ahead of schedule. Joel Edmundson said at the golf tournament "the rebuild was last year". He might not be wrong. Still a long way to go and I believe GM of the year candidate KH aka Lex Luthor has lots of irons in the fire. The Hoff's value is on the rise, Thin Man might be wanted back in Ottawa, lots to look forward to.
Just for the record, I would never boo Jeff Petry, he was a great player for the Habs for many years. I don't recall that he ever said anything bad about Montreal the city or the team. The only time he said something controversial was when he inferred DoHarm didn't know wtf he was doing. And he was right!
So the fun thing is this current iteration of an amalgamated team, as may have said is fun to watch. Like MSL has said, wins are happening, wins (and losses) will come. Wins are any team's ultimate goal but MSL went on to say they don't even posts standings and/or player stats in the dressing room.
Regardless of the team, they are more than competitive. Skill, some of it 'elite' is scattered across the lines and positions. I think the french media is hyping Druid's play a bit too much. So be it. Also, nice to see DaCH put them in their place with his play. Easily the surprise of the season, alongside a trio of very good young Dmen. Robidas may have struck a goldmine as D coach. They are also being a bit more creative on the PP and it is fun to follow Whiskey as the play moves on.
Why am I reading about how PowerHorse should be traded as his style doesn't mesh with Marty?? Eh? It took years to get a PowerHorse lets not dump him Go Habs
Incredible how Thin Man can't crack the lineup. On our four rookie D: 1) KovaCHevic is a huge surprise. Although 25, he had only played 5 or 6 games when HuGo picked him up as desperation insurance. Look at him now! So solid!
2) Iron Kaiden is looking more and more like a modern BBQ/Big Bird hybrid every game. He is a beast.
3) WiFi is another that no one saw coming, but playing amazingly solid D.
4)Harris - well he is a bit older but coming from US College I don't see him carrying this heavy a load tgroughout this season. He is already starting to look a bit tired. I expect hi. To take a step back while he acclimates as a pro - so maybe a stint in Laval by Xmas. But he has played fabulously, all in all.
AND! We still have Red Barron and Norlander on the farm. The cupboard is full for D Men anyway. The forward group could use some polish. I agree with Steve about the tank for 23 We need at lease one more Nature/Whiskey type to launch a serious team. But they sure are fun to watch Go Habs
Ottawa loses and has 5 wins in their first 15 games. Remember how their fans were dissing the Habs' preseason losses, including 3 or 4 to the Sens? Dear dear.
Two losses in a row for the October Stanley cup champion s. Lets lose tonight with honour.
ReplyDeleteThis team ain't finishing bottom five. Maybe not bottom 10.
ReplyDeleteSo...GYFHG!
Still too early to call it, injuries and slumps can be a factor. If the Habs hang around the playoff race, KH will have to get creative to snag one of the top end centers available in 2023. In the meantime, let's enjoy watching Marty coach these youngsters to every unexpected win!
ReplyDeleteYou can't keep a good Powerhorse suspended. GYFHG!
ReplyDeleteI'm liking this Kirby Dach more and more. What larceny by Kent Hughes, wtf was Chicago thinking?
ReplyDeletePoor Borje Salming, what a shame a player that good played for all those wretched ballard leaf teams. A waste.
Nice goal 7Evans ... wrong net though.
ReplyDeleteC'mon Jake you gotta have that.
ReplyDeleteFor 29...Cash it!
ReplyDeleteInteresting that Wifi is getting 2nd wave PP time over Guhle or Harris or Kovy3
ReplyDeleteNone look out of place there
DeleteTwo shitty flukey goals against. They will rebound in the 3rd. Pitt played last night they have to be getting tired, all those old-timers...
ReplyDeleteWhiskey!
ReplyDeleteNo fucking way is that interference.

ReplyDeleteSoft one.
ReplyDeleteOh Capitan!
ReplyDeleteNature!
ReplyDeleteSlick Nick
ReplyDeleteAs we've said all along, win or lose this team is fun to watch. Just more fun when they win.
ReplyDeleteThat play was about 3 feet offside and now because the idiot linesman missed it Habs are shorthanded.
ReplyDeleteBang!
ReplyDeleteGreat kill
ReplyDeletePhantom call on Savard
ReplyDeleteStripes appear to have a mandate to uphold for this one.
DeleteFucking refs trying to help Pitt JFC
ReplyDelete3 on 3 for 25 seconds. Nuts!
ReplyDeleteWell shit.
ReplyDeleteJake Allen not good tonight
ReplyDelete$!
ReplyDeleteMonaHab-itual scorer!
ReplyDeleteLast goal wins I guess
ReplyDeleteNo Tankers in the crowd tonight they want a win
ReplyDeleteExcept maybe the Jakes. Own goal and save% just above .800
DeleteNew Tank Commanders?
DeleteOff to OT, and the Demacrats have retained control of the Senate, which will probably save the USA democracy.
ReplyDeleteIn honour of Young29 : HANG ON BOYS!!
ReplyDeleteAnd what a play by the DaCHtor!
ReplyDeleteHoff not Hassled!
ReplyDeleteHabs deserved this W. Outplayed them for a vast majority of the game.
ReplyDeleteMontreal Young Guns beat the Pittsburgh Senior Citizens!
ReplyDeleteKirby Dach what a player, he will be the #2 C once Slaf matures. KH for GM of the Year.
What a difference a year and a coach who knows what he's doing make. Last year this team would have folded up like a cheap tent down a goal. No more, they are never out of it.

Beauty win, balanced scoring, Iron Kaiden was awesome.
ReplyDeleteHoff Hoff Hoff

ReplyDeleteZero disrespect for Salming and his career but typical of hnic to laud him when they decided to disrespect Boom Boom Geoffrion.
