  2. Lots and lots of trade rumours out there, some plausible, some not. HuGo has said he doesn't want to load the team up with rookies again, Demigod being the exception. Sounds like Beck, Logan and Bach will be plying their trade in Laval again unless something changes.
    Please Sid, reconsider...

    2. I don't know how accurate it is but at the Scouting combine Dubas said he would like the Pensburghs to get younger. I think he would (or will) trade Malkin, Letang and Karlsson, with Rakell and Rust available for the right price. I'm pretty sure Dubas will be tanking hard the next two years for a crack at McKenna and Dupont. Doesn't make any sense for Sid to be a part of that.

Never an Olivia fan but Terri HatCHer is another superperson. I am worried about the finals. It seems the bigfoot of the NHL is against us again. They not only bite the hands that feed them, they kick them in the balls just to make sure we got the message. It aint changed since the Ricard Riots.
Remember you had to get Kane and Towes to win the cup, now you got to get the gritty veterans.
Al I know is our team is the shuttle and the Panthers and Oilers are the Enterprise.

    1. The Habs are the Defiant, a smaller but deadly weapons loaded ship of war, whereas the USS Enterprise(s) were ships for exploration. But yeah, the NHL will fuck the Canadian teams every time, just another aspect of Felon47's trade war.

I maintain not a soul in that organization leaks anything.
So all these names we hear are actually just dudes (mostly) with a platform, and they're throwing shit at the wall.

Well, we have our own platform so I say Sid is reconsidering but would only take a move to Montréal. There. Done.

  11. As much as I detest most traditional media, the one Habs guy I can get behind is Marco D'Amico.
He also says some things regarding potential trades or moves that I don't agree with, but he is very knowledgeable and backs up his views with concrete stats and insight.

If I had hiring power at SN I would offer Marco the Colour job for Habs games in a heartbeat and kick Gawley to the curb faster than grease through a goose.

Turns out only 2 of 15 SN and 1 of 6 TSN staff voted him 2nd. One of them is the SN Calgary guy that gave it to Wolf. Iain MacIntyre...I think he's a west coast guy that also voted for Wolf. And the TSN Calgary guy also voted Wolf.
That tells you how dominant he was, that even the SFU had to vote for him.

He would need to do a complete 180 and denounce FOTUS and beg for forgiveness for his dismissal of team Canada while fist bumping the Americans to have the slimmest of hopes that Canada takes him back. And I think even that wouldn't do it.

I've only watched one game which happened to be Game 4 which was a doozy. Last night, meh, the Oilers weren't moving their feet so they deserved to lose. 37 year old Ratface was better than McD or Drai, he is on Florida's 3rd line so he is getting favourable matchups. McD is not doing much so advantage Panthers. I think Fla. finishes it off tomorrow night and rightly so they are the better team overall.

Pass on Toews, JJ Peterka, sure I'd be OK with that and I saw a rumour that Alex Tuch might be a target as well to reunite with his bro Luke. I'm still holding out hope for Sid.

So for that reason, with Caufield and Demidov at RW, I would say no to JJ or Alex Tuch. I'm pretty sure Luke may never see NHL ice. Maybe he'll make it as a 4th line guy.
I think it's more likely he goes to Buffalo in a trade to reunite with his brother.
Rossi is also a no for me. Too small. We have enough players of similar stature.
Sid is still my #1 dream too if Kent can make it work without giving away TOO much for 2 years of "the Kid" (not Gary Carter).
If I'm thinking offer sheet, if he isn't signed by them, I'm possibly looking at Morgan Geekie with the Bruins. There are some red flags. He is on his third team already at 26 years old. But his offence started to pick up. Some players take longer to adjust. I think the B's sign him though.

    1. I didn't look too much at positions, I just figure Hughes and Marty can make things work.
Some amateur site had Florian Xhekaj, Luke Tuch and Tyler Thorpe as a possible future Habs 4th line, a bruising checking line that could score a few goals. All speculation of course.
As for Sid, it will be up to him if he wants to stick around Pitt for another 2 years of losing and they are going to be losing big time. Dubas wants a shot at McKenna, it will be a stealth tank.

  54. Congrats to Jurai Slafkovsky on being named one of the top 6 for the Slovak Olympic team.

We all know Hockey Canada sucks ass, so I'll be surprised if Suzuki makes the team. Maybe he'll be there as the 'extra forward'.

Caufield and Hutson? The Americans might dismiss them as well due to their size. To their detriment.

I guess we'll see how the first few months of the season go. In the end, we saw how much that break benefited the team in the push to the playoffs. So if they get a rest instead, so be it.

  55. Well, Mark Carney just lost me. If it's true that he told felon 47 that the world needs U.S. leadership and his personal leadership that's just bending the knee. Shame on the PM.

Not worried about Carney. He’s being diplomatic.

  57. Yeah I thought it sounded a bit too much like sucking up, but like moe says he's being diplomatic knowing that the orange clown needs his ego stroked. That is all it is. He is a simple man. He said he is a tariff guy because they are simple to understand (which is ironic).
Carney is smart enough to know that Canada does need a trading relationship with America and he's taking one for the team by fluffing the felon's ego. He will need a long, hot shower tonight to get rid of the ick.

Looks like the Habs will once again remain the last Canadian team to win it.

And they just might be the next. A 2027 retirement gift for me.

    2. Montreal will be the next Canadian team to win the Cup.
With McD helping in 2027, just in time for your retirement.

  62. If Corey Perry is playing another year, get him signed! But then sit him for the final.
He's been to the final 5 of the past 6 years and lost every time. He'll get you to, but not through.

If anything, FLA teaches us that teams need depth and rounded out players right through the lineup.
    And a really good goalie.
Having a superstar or two without the supporting cast is worthless. Habs are on the right track in that sense, I'm still not sold on the goaltending being good enough. Happy to be wrong...and maybe it's Fowler in 2027? He should spend the year as #1 in Laval so we can see how he might turn out as a pro.

    1. I was thinking the same thing. Depth is so important. Paying 2 (or 4) superstar players doesn't get it done. I'm sure Kent tells all his players the same thing during negotiations.
I don't think Monty is good enough to win a Cup, whether Jacob or Jakub is remains to be seen.
I think all the Panthers leaders are around 30ish, that's the timeline we are looking at.

      Delete
  63. I looked up the ages of the players on PuckPedia, all of the core are around 29 years old, the exceptions being Bob at 36 and Rat at 37. So, once Nick and the gang are in the 28 - 30 range the Habs should be contending.

  64. And like steve said, shouldn't the leaf get some kind of trophy for taking Florida to 7 games?
The sfu will no doubt be bragging about that over the next few day.

Nine days until the draft, let the trade speculation begin.

    1. I see plenty of leaf commentors saying this already. And how THAT series was the true final. I can't tell if they are mocking or truly idiots. Probably the latter in most cases.
They should realize the breaking up of their "Poor 4" is the best thing that could happen to their team...but many won't. Until they sign that amazing list of players of course.

  65. Well done to the Cats...McD joins TFS as a great player never to win the Cup...cause he won't be back for a sniff unless he gets traded

    ReplyDelete
  66. It's funny, I don't actually dislike the Panthers even though they have a douchey kachook and a rat on their team. Players like Barkov, Bennett and Reinhart are not as annoying as those Tampa douchebags led by Doucherov himself. Paul Maurice is far more amicable than the arrogant Jon Cooper.

If I were McD I would think long and hard about re-signing with Edmonton. They are going nowhere with that defence and those goalies.
