Just realizing this now: this is the normal response (shocked as fuck) to expect of a tight team on the day their #1 goalie gets sent down. Especially a young team like this, with their senior D-man out.
If the Habs are going to stay in this 'mushy middle' phase of their rebuild I hope they can get a little tougher in their makeup. Other than the Xhekaj's, they are soft as wet cow flop. And Arber has been somewhat neutered because he doesn't want to get put in the press box by fighting often. I'm just remembering how easily Washington rolled over them last spring. If they can even make it this year.
I just find they really struggle against teams with size or a heavy forecheck. I don't think other than Horse any of the Habs forwards strike any fear on the opposing D. And they rarely, if ever, crash the net. I guess that's how Marty wants them to play.

Despite all that, the team is one lousy point out of 1st place in their division. Crazy train stuff.
It could be worse, our best players could be railroaded out of town frequently by a rabid media and fanbase. Actually, that used to happen frequently in Montreal at one time. How times have changed.
Almost half way through the season with Olympics on the schedule. At least 3 games given away. Injuries have hurt. Points matter. In HuGo we trust. Enjoy your Nachos tranna.

I echo all of these recent comments. I also forget that the Duke is only 22.
They do need some size, grit, experience. And I think Ryan O'Reilly fits the bill really well, even though he has a small hint of leaf stench on him. He only has one year left after this at $4.5 per. He doesn't have any trade protection. Just not sure what the cost would be. Would Nashville take a flyer on Dach and hope his knee survives? Probably cost something like Dach (or Beck), Struble and a 1st. Maybe a 2nd? Habs do have an extra 2nd from Columbus for taking Wool off their hands. It'll be steep whatever the cost, but this or something similar is a must considering the tightness of the division.
I'm torn on this subject. On the one hand, yes, they could use some experience up front and they could use some snarl on the back end as well. How much of the youth and or picks do you sacrifice? They aren't cup contenders as yet so I don't know if the timing is right. I'm sure HuGo are looking at this constantly. Based on what I read and saw about Monty last night, it wasn't good. He might not be fixable so then you are using two rookie goalies. Ken Dryden and Patrick Roy aside, is that feasible? The Habs might be kind of stuck in no man's land at the moment. Midnight tonight is the Christmas trade freeze, we'll see if anything develops.
Now, the Pens are starting to slide. If the Habs can put them down in the upcoming home and home games, maybe Kent and Shelly can have a chat about Crosby during those games...I won't give up the dream.
Craig Berube has no answers for lack of 'passion' by outclassed Maple Leafs
Not that I want to help them out, but if that franchise has half a brain, trading Narcos Underpants now would be the best thing they could do. Some American team would overpay a bundle for him. The leaflets have practically no draft picks the next 2 years, so they could stock those back up and get a couple of good pieces to fill the roster as well. This would assist them, like when they tanked to get the aforementioned overhyped forehead with a cheesy moustache, to have a better shot at ruining another young player in Gavin McKenna.
But they won't do any of that. And I'm here and ready to watch the Decline of the ConsterNation Empire.
I read the same article at Leafnet, I would say Berube has been tuned out, he's likely gone in the new year. Has there ever been a more unlikeable 'star' player in the league than Nachos? He has all the charisma of a rattlesnake.
