  1. I'm chuffed! Aaron Ward himself liked my comment (replying in a thread speculating on the identity of tonight's torch bearer):

All Stanley Cup winners so far, and alternating québecois and non-québecois so I'm guessing Gainey, Shutt, Robinson, Skrudland, Walter, Green, or maybe even this guy @aaronward.bsky.social

    3. so if the pattern is to alternate quebecois and anglo and the guy has to have a cup with us... im gonna guess: that lil warrior from moose jaw?!
(is that right? carbo was last time?, so now it has to be anglo + outside?)

    4. wut!?! love the guy, but u cant have him! that will break the pattern!!
      1. non captain
      2. non cup winner

    1. Steve what are you wearing. Well I am glad you asked. A big TiTs t shirt and those made for men track pants that make me feel good. I feel good if you know what I mean ? I have also left the standard astral plane behind. I am now on the Habs conferance finals plane. Yes its a bit of time travel. But the future is comming fast.

  6. Roy or Robinson is my bet.

I do very little betting but have a feeling about DaCH tonight.
    Might score the series winner.
My big $1 bet could net me a whopping $12.

    1. every great spectacular play he does (that one handed pass to nick), comes after 5-6 dumb dumb dummmmmmmb plays where he either
      - tries to beat his man instead of making the quick easy pass... or
      - shies away from a simple bodycheck to eliminate his man

I remember Big Bird having a rough game late in his career in Los Angeles. Harry Neale says he’s playing like the 50 year old he is. The other announcer says c’mon Harry you’re out by 11 years. Harry says Ohhh he’s playing ok for 61 years old

fml... spoke too soon. stat sheet shows he only played 7 shift and again trailed the others in ice-time by a lot... smh... blame the boys as much as you want, but MSL and the coaches deserve a lot of critique for not deploying/ trusting him more.

    1. how can they not know? they always do this. ALWAYS. even in regular season, a home match is at least 51% a disappointment.

      1-2 vs tampa
      1-2 vs buffalo

both times, a chance to end it at home. im confused whether to hate this now, or hate what happened last time.

  33. If Monday is their last game, it's been a roller coaster ride, lots of fun moments but lots of head shaking as well. Get that second line center to stabilize things, a few other tweaks maybe and roll'er back next season. For sure the SFU will be happy to see them gone, they won't have to hand out false praise anymore.

    2. screw off M! theyre not dead yet! judging by the way they played yd, sure, but the potential do exactly same tm is also there!

had this discussion yd while watching with some friends:
      1. is MSL the type to kick a few garbage cans and raise his voice between periods?
      2. is nick? (judging by his personality, i think he would rather lead by example instead. 'sigh'.... for somebody like gainey who would get mad and display some emotion in the room would be good to alert these guys a W requires 0:60 of effort)

      Delete
  34. edit: do exactly same... to them

  35. Anonymous10:35 PM

Thinking Monday’s game might need a parody …

The Habs are the Joy Division of the league and hockey needs a New Order.

    2. Totally wrong analysis there, he's still thinking about the leaf.
There are no 'malcontents' on the Montreal team.
There is only youth and not enough big game experience.
Unlike the wretched leaf, the Habs can only trend up regardless if they win or lose tonight.
This is only Year 4 of the rebuild.
The only thing the writer got right is : "neither of these clubs is quite ready for prime time, yet."

  39. Looked up the origins of the team name. In the run-up to its 1970 inception thrre was a public naming contest. In the end, one of the original rich kid Knox owners who'd inherited the Woolworth's store chain decided on sabres because he thought it was a cool weapon and he thought leaders had them.

The name Buffalo comes from the nearby Buffalo Creek, namwd because presumably the local Seneca and Iroquois names didn't amuse the British overlords who thought they saw some bison hanging out around there.

So yeah, they'd just landed a man on the moon but they took inspiration from their shiny little toy soldiers.

    Oh, the rich history!
