RÇ's lumps of coal fly into Winnipeg to play the Jets. Can you feel the excitement? I'll be wrapping presents and drinking Xmas Negroni punCH (rum, Campari, CHampagne). TFS™ to start. Hopefully his teammates find a way to get started. Previews from tsn, rds, nhl, grinches. CatCH ya'll in the comments after the puck drops around 8h45EST.

"We have some angry guys in there. Some frustrated guys, because we want better results," Cunneyworth said. "We'll see if we can kind of turn it in our direction and use that frustration to our advantage tomorrow (in Winnipeg), but obviously we have to get our heads into it for a complete game"

Time to end the misery?

G Y F H G !
Ha ha...I tuned out after it was 2-1. I never tune out. I watch this team lose and lose...
ReplyDeleteYesterday was different. I was indifferent to the team, win or lose. That has to be bad for marketing, cause I'm probably not the only one who feels like this!
I played Batman Arkham Asylum instead.
Winnie tonight...I bet you the Habs play like Poo!
ReplyDeleteI also turned it off with the empty netter, something I never do.
ReplyDeleteWell, maybe tonight.
The Canadiens sign Michaël Bournival to a three-year contract. 2012-13 to 2014-15.
ReplyDeleteThere's probably one person who's happy this morning, Jacques Martin. Oh, and nail PK's butt to the bench tonight please.
ReplyDeleteTuned out at 9 and watched 24 / 7. It was far more entertaining.
ReplyDeleteMoey - PFK doesn't need to be benched, but he also doesn't need to play 25 minutes...I'm sure that if he plays 15-18 minutes, it would be in everyone's best interest. The other young guns will pick up the slack.
ReplyDeleteAnd WTF is (Y)Emelin still doing in the press box...
PFK was -4 last night...and they had an empty netter...OUCH.
I agree, no need to bench PK, but definitely less minutes would be good. Gotta let the kids play and learn from their mistakes.
ReplyDeleteIt's some of the veterans that disappoint me, not showing much effort. Three shots in the third period? Seriously?
I didn't expect them to beat Boston or Chicago, two vastly superior teams. Getting a loser point in either match would have been something. Maybe tonight but I'm doubtful.
I kinda like what Ottawa is doing. They kept a few veterans like Spezza, Neil and Phillips, brought in their prospects and lowered expectations. Montreal could the same. I don't get upset anymore if they lose. All the sideshow stuff is drawing attention away from it anyway. Looking forward to a top 10 pick in June.
Sayonara
In the news:
ReplyDeleteOne of he "mouvement" groups (missed which one) is planning a protest at the Bell Centre January 7th.
They are still upset about RC and will demand the team have more french players and will also protest that there are too many english songs played during games.
Fuck off already!
How do you say "loser" en Francais?
ReplyDeleteDive Capetian dive, send TFS to Hawaii for a holiday until after the all star break.
ReplyDelete@juce, if that's true I hope security throws those assholes out of the building toute suite. If anybody starts waving the fleur de lis...OUT!!
ReplyDeleteOK
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, we have to make Gui-Louis the captain and the alternate captains. Just sew the C and two A's on his sweater. Then let him play whatever position he wants whenever he wants. That should do it.
Pitoyable!
ReplyDeleteGet off the fucking language band wagon already...
@the M,
ReplyDeleteYou were right, Molson should just have told them that it is his business and he will run it as he sees fit. There will be no pacifying the angry villagers, no matter what.
@Hadulf, I totally agree, enough is enough, get on with life and hockey.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.montrealgazette.com/sports/hockey/montreal-canadiens/Habs+have+rich+anglo+history/5892078/story.html
ReplyDeleteWhat are peoples thoughts on Marc Crawford? I think he's a wash up, but he can speak french
ReplyDeleteeuh
Just to clarify, my previous comment was not directed at 4HF readers/commentators...
ReplyDeleteIt was for those people who are not getting over themselves about this language "issue".
Marc Crawford eh...It's a maybe for me.
ReplyDeleteHonestly though, I doubt The Organization will take this route, I would like Carbo back. It just sucks that he jumped on this language thing to make himself visible and bump up is résumé and say "look at me, I speak french, I want a job NAO!". Anyhow, let's hire Michel Therrien, esti!
Someone posted alink about some guy in Switzerland that really got me excited - might have been Moey but I'm too lazy to go back and look it up - anyway - someone should send it to Geoff Molson - then he can get on a plane during the holidays and no one would be the wiser. Off the guy the gm/coach role and see what happens. COuldn't be any worse than what happened last night. I watched the first 2 but had a bad feeling about what was to come so called it a night - glad I did. On a positive, when they did skate, they looked good and the Hawks could have been beaten last night - but not by the Habs. I'd like to see Budja back in the nets tonight too - he didn't play that badly.
ReplyDeleteBTW - Jury is now in on Kaberle - all his shortcomings are now being exposed. He's slow, one dimensional and well past his prime. OK - he makes some difference on the PP but when it comes to playing a regular shift...!!?? - I will stick with my original nickname for him - FULC
ReplyDelete@Kmaxx, Kafkaologist, PP only, better than MAB
ReplyDeletePat Hickey is retarded. "Habs in a fight for the last playoff spots, only 4 points behind NJ".
ReplyDeleteHey PHuckhead Habs have played 2 extra games, are on pace for a 77 point season, have a winning % of .371 with 7 of their points coming from losses and with only 13 wins.
NJ have 2 games in hand, are on pace for a 96 point finish with a winning % of .545, only one of their points is a loser point and they already have 18 W's while playing 2 less games.
Math, hurts the brain.
ReplyDeleteLove the sweater thanks Moeman!
ReplyDeleteSteve, if you don't want to wear it you can probably smoke it.
ReplyDeleteBoxing Week on iTunes.
GAG-non is suggesting Serge Savard as advisor, Damphousse as GM, Roy or Carbo as CoaCH. I've weighed in that I like Savard to run the team, Roy to instil some intensity behind the benCH but never considered Vinny. Thoughts?
ReplyDeleteReminds me of the old Cheech and Chong,
ReplyDelete"Thats good shit man, what is it"
"Dogshit man, the dog ate my stash"
A little Hanukkah celebration for our Jewish friends.
I dont see what Damphousse brings to the table.
ReplyDeleteInsider CBA smarts, business savvy, ex-Hab, Captain, Cup winner, well known league wide, bilingual, snappy dresser ...
ReplyDeleteMaybe pair up PK with HMCS Gill?
ReplyDeleteCan he look into the eyes of an 18 year old and pick a star?
ReplyDeleteNo we are officially tanking, pair him up with Emilin and break everything that comes over the blueline.
ReplyDeleteYou can change all the managers you want but until I see some actual talented NHL players on the ice nothing will change.
ReplyDeleteIt will require doing something along the lines of what Burke did his first year which is identify a franchise type player you could possibly force another team to move to build around. Montreal's obvious need is a #1 center. There has to be someone available on some team shittier than they are at the moment. Trade whoever you have to (not TFS) to start the process.
I would start with Malkin or Getzlaf and then go after Shea Weber or Ryan Suter. With either one of the centers or D along with Price you've got something to build around. It would take a manager with balls to do it. Burke and Holmgren aren't afraid to make the big move. That's what is needed at this point if this franchise is to get back on it's feet. Otherwise they're just spinning their wheels.
Randy Cunneyworth’s got enough problems with his hockey team, thanks very much. The Canadiens’ interim head coach said today in Winnipeg that the controversy over his inability to speak French is outside his immediate focus.
ReplyDelete“I’m not even concerned with that,” said Cunneyworth, as per the Winnipeg Free Press. “Those are stories I haven’t even read or looked at or thought about. I have enough on my plate with the group we have. We’re just trying to win some hockey games.”
Addendum: Pittsburg is not shitty obviously but they have three number 1 centers. If Vinny Damphousse can wrangle one of them out of Ray Shero then he is the man for the job.
ReplyDeleteMontreal does not have to suck for two years to rebuild. A smart GM can do it if they have a plan. Not sure if the Goat has one. Also, they can afford to bury bad contracts if the want to win. If they only want to sell beer, well....
I saw lots of empty seats back in October and before the lockout you could buy tickets at the box office pretty easily. I had scalpers following me into the lobby back then. It could happen again.
@ the M: "Montreal does not have to suck for two years to rebuild" Philly is a good example of this. Apparently they've been in the playoffs 15 of the past 16 years and I hate to admit it but they are phucking good
ReplyDelete@mr. gillis, Montreal is the third wealthiest team in the whole phucking league. Why does management settle for all these 2nd rate players? When Paul Holmgren found out Pronger was available he didn't hesitate to get him. Took four first round picks to do it but he didn't care. His only mistake was to under estimate his goaltending. They went to the finals though. Pronger gave them a shot.
ReplyDeleteEverybody knows Nashville probably will not keep both Weber and Suter. Either one is far better than anything on the Habs blueline. Trade for one and get a true number 1 center. Enough of these half-assed patchwork manuovers that Montreal does. They have the financial wherewithal to ice a superior team. All it takes is the will to do it.
@moeman, Uh oh, RC is gonna be in (more) trouble at home once that gets translated.
ReplyDeletethe M,
ReplyDeleteI agree. This lot will not get us to the promised land. Every year at the trade deadline you hope that the Habs would make a gutsy move, a splash of some kind. It never happens, they stand pat. I say keep Price & Patches. The rest are expendable.
They're foaming at the mouth. So some Quebec mediot has apparently contacted the Canadiens organization and PR folks because he had a run in with Cunneyworth and Randy 'refused' to answer a question in French. Sick fucks.
ReplyDeleteMoey,
ReplyDeleteI remember watching TSN's free agent extravaganza when Gainey was signing Cammalleri and Gionta after the Gomez trade (which I was puzzled by) and thinking to myself, what the hell is he doing signing all these small forwards when they had already been humiliated by the Flyers that spring with Koivu and Kovalev? When they added Moen and Gill I thought OK, maybe that balances things out. Still, I wasn't happy about it and even after the Halak led miracle run in the spring of 2010 I wasn't sold on this team because the Flyers kicked the shit out of them again. Pronger and Coburn wouldn't let them anywhere near the net. This group of forwards are not good enough to win anything and now the defence is suffering as well.
The promised land? This bunch wouldn't get us across the street.
I like Cole, Eller, Max and I think they could keep either Gionta or Cammalleri going forward for the next two years but not both. I would let PK go because I believe Beaulieu will be better overall.
That's enough ranting for one night. I have to go out to a party tonight for a whilebut I will be home before the game is over and check in here for the comments. Keep the faith sisters and brothers, better days have to be ahead. I hope.
Price & Patches? Very cutthroat, Moey!
ReplyDeleteI like Price, Patches, PFK (soft spot, I know, probably why I'm not GM), Pleks, Gorges and Cole right now. Everything else can go.
@moe - You know your Apple products, right? I somehow managed to squeeze in an appointment at Apple tomorrow. Looking for a MacBook. Air or Pro? HELP.
Damn, I gotta run out and get me some
ReplyDeletemistletoe, stat!
iRiRi, MBAs (MacBook Air) are reasonably/decently fast and the SSD(rive) is a good boost. I recommend the 13". MBPs (MacBook Pro) are heavier but offer more RAM/HD/DVD/screen size. When's the last time you needed/used a DVD on a laptop? My customers lean about 65% towards MBAs unless they do some serious photo/video editing/production. Those that have chosen MBAs love them. You can always get external DVD, HDs or displays.
ReplyDeleteAlso, no way Loulita gets left off a list. they'd get nothing for him as he needs to mature. Also, Josh.
I wanna be sedated
ReplyDeleteSmoke your sweater.
ReplyDeleteThanks, moe! I was leaning towards a MacBook Pro but maybe I'll just keep my old HP just to watch DVDs...
ReplyDeleteMe too, Steve, me too. *sighs*
Oh, yeah, Go Habs, I guess.
What bugs me is they practically replaced the whole team in 2009 and a different coach. The result is the same. WTF?
ReplyDeleteSubban is a healthy scratch tonight. They must read this blog.
ReplyDeleteNo Lego either.
ReplyDeleteWebber + (Y)Emelin in.
@Moey - Seems like just yesterday they cleaned house and now it needs to happen again. What does that say about this team? Wait, don't answer that.
ReplyDeletePK scratched is fine with me. It did him some good last year. But Eller? When does Squid get to watch from above?
Ri,
ReplyDeleteAs I recall, he sat for 4 games and we won them all.
Oh boy.
ReplyDelete@Moey - Wow, forgot about that. I don't disagree with the benching (way too many turnovers) but I don't think the results will be similar this time. Then again, anything is possible.
ReplyDeleteFive mins in and shoulders are slumping. They are so fragile right now.
My cat is playing "Hab" lying on his back with all fours sticking up. I hope it's not a sign. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteGYFHG!
ReplyDeleteGO COACH!
euh
ReplyDeleteA little off topic, but I feel like me and bryzgalov can be best friends
ReplyDeleteCue the comeback.
ReplyDeleteMaybe their trying to reverse their fortunes by playing shite in the first and then ramping it up. Yeah, that's it.
ReplyDeletemoe,
ReplyDeleteYeah, I wish the 2008 edition could come back. Now that was fun hockey.
ha ha ha...laughable. Looks like they are trying, but they look like ME trying to play in the NHL...
ReplyDelete@Moey...you mean when Carbo was the coach and AK27 and AK46 were our only worries?
ReplyDeleteYeah, me too.
I think Steve must have smoked his sweater. Been awful quiet.
ReplyDelete@Moey: Want exciting/ less depressing hockey? Can vs. Sui on TSN2
ReplyDeletePS. I hate where the cameras in Rexall place are placed
@Hadulf,
ReplyDeleteEven though they went out in the second round against the Phucktards, for the 2008/2009 season TSN predicted a Habs/Shark final. All was great in Habsland until they broke our hearts again. Carbo got fired and you know the rest. This is getting really hard to take.
Have there ever been any non north american coaches in the NHL?
ReplyDeleteCHatty Moey tonight :)
ReplyDeleteheh, good one Moey.
ReplyDeleteCHecklist;
ReplyDelete- Xmas shopping done √
- booze bought √√
- 8Kg fresh farm turkey fridged √√√
- Habs suck √√√√
welll phhaccckkkk
ReplyDeleteI have the comeback game in my Hab's DVD set. I'm going to play it during the Christmas break with a big bottle of wine and cry my eyes out.
ReplyDelete:(
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm gonna be a prick, SHUTOUT!
ReplyDeleteWill any of these guys eventually get angry? I mean, doesn't it make them mad to be losing like this? These guys need a little tortorella rage. They look like they are just waiting for this night to be over
ReplyDeletePrice should demand a trade. This is ridiculous. I feel so bad for the coach. Gauthier is a prick of the highest order.
ReplyDeleteNot the S word!
ReplyDelete'Cmon guys, at least win 1 for the coach.
ReplyDeleteGYFHG
The world is just crumbling in Habsland...shish.
ReplyDeleteWhere the fuck is the pride of wearing the CH?
ReplyDeleteIf it wasn't the holiday season, this team gets blown up from the GM on down. We need us some Big Jim McBob and Billie Sol Hurok.
Oh NO!!! Emelin!!
ReplyDelete4 min, do it guys.
ReplyDeleteHabs'll need an Ace up their sleeves when negotiating with TFS™. That card 4HFers is Patrick Roy.
ReplyDeleteWho the phuck has the pp??? They don't even try to get the damn puck!
ReplyDeleteThey're driving me crazy, hard to watch.
If TFS doesn't get support from teammates, he probably won't want to stay.
ReplyDeletePatrick was a good influence on Pricey. I remember him saying that Roy told him not to sweat if he let in a bad goal, just focus on not letting the next one in.
ReplyDeleteI quit.
ReplyDeleteeuh
Don't mean to be a Debbie Downer but the "to tank or not to tank" issue isn't even debatable anymore. It's happening before our eyes!
ReplyDeleteIs it CHristmas yet? Presents and comfort food can't come fast enough...
WHY HABS WHY?!
At this rate, TFS may as well skate the rink, play defense, offense and come back to guard the net. A one-man hockey team.
ReplyDeleteI think we all know how it feels like to be a leaf fan now
ReplyDeleteNah, haven't hit 45 years.
ReplyDeleteSmarten the hell up and GHG.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Santa will give us an early miracle.
ReplyDelete@moe: Well at least a sneak peek.
ReplyDeleteSo I did my homework and found out that the only two non north american NHL coaches were Ivan Hlinka and Alpo Suhonen, both only for the 2000-2001 season with Pittsburgh and CHicago respectively.
Seeing as the habs have a history of not being one to take chances, I doubt they'd be willing to be the first to truly break the ice in this category
juce, I love your optimism.
ReplyDeleteThanks Moey.
ReplyDeleteNow if they can cash in on what's left in the pp, then score 2 more and then 1 more for the win.
ReplyDeleteGYMFHG.
Oh shit...there's another period of this crap? Man...Price is in for a ride!
ReplyDeleteI think I heard the RDS guy say that on that 4 minutes PP, we had 1 shot...Jets had 3...
ReplyDeleteGood question asked on RDS: If Muller was named coach, would there be as much of a fuss about his lack of french?
ReplyDeleteAnd a question that I just asked myself: If the Nordiques returned, would an anglo coach in Montreal be such a big deal, seeing as Montreal is as english as it gets for cities in Quebec
ok...scratch that.
ReplyDeleteHeard that too gillis and the answer that Brunet gave was right. Muller could do no wrong. All he had to do was say "Merci beaucoup" after an interview and he was good. So double standard!
ReplyDeleteBenCH Squid he's eating up valuable PP time
ReplyDeleteWhat with parity and recovered injuries, there may yet be time to salvage the season.
ReplyDeleteQuick Pole;
Sexy Friday, Y or N?
@Hadulf,
ReplyDeleteBench everyone, erase and re-draw. Except Pricey of course.
What I'm wondering now is if the Cole-DD-PatCHes line needs to be broken up. Try and give balance on the first 2 lines (like we have one)...Or at least give PleXXXe something to chew on other than Squid
ReplyDelete@moe - definitely Sexy Friday. Only thing that can cheer us up...
ReplyDeleteI say we keep Gorges too.
ReplyDeleteFUCK...Squid, HIT THE FUCKING NET GOD DAMMIT!
ReplyDelete@Hadulf: All three on that line are -2 tonight
ReplyDeleteCan't wait till sexy friday, and I love the and the gifs
And we should probably keep PFK, seriously. I know "everything's his fault" right now...
ReplyDeletemoe, yes. Fuck the Habs, it's Christmas & we will all enjoy it in spite of them. I wouldn't even mention them in the post.
ReplyDeleteSo, what have I missed?
ReplyDeleteOh, never mind.
@Moey - good idea (re: no habs)
ReplyDeleteWe need to keep (Y)Emelin in the lineup. He's our only tough D.
ReplyDeleteOk, have fun, I'm tuning out. See y'all later!
ReplyDeleteIn a game that absolutely nobody cares about, the BJ's were beating the preds 4-1 then 5-2 only to lose 6-5 with 8.4 seconds left. Sigh
ReplyDeleteHaven't been watching, just checking in a few times, OMG it just keeps getting worse, who are these guys? What happened to "that" team, the one that could pull it together long enough to look good and win some games/series?
ReplyDeleteBench, sit, injuries, coaching change...WTF is wrong?!
Anyone want my Habs Centennial DVD box set, still in cellophane never touched by human hands? My autographed framed Carey Price pic?
(BTW I AM keeping my personalized autographed Jean Beliveau pic of him with the Stanley cup replicated ten times, that is mentioned in my will).
Thank GOD that yesterday I purchased a casket strength Abelour A'bunadh, stuff can kill you.....sounds like just what I need, G'night.
It feels like its been forever since I've last seen Ron Hainsey
ReplyDeletevw: dedeness
dedeness inside
ReplyDeleteTotally outworked. Sick, hollow feeling. Maybe a post-Xmas shake-up?
ReplyDeleteSEXY FRIDAY POR FAVOR!
ReplyDelete@moeman: all because you said the S word
ReplyDeleteBloody awful. We could lace 'em up and beat them. Okay, one half day left and I'm on vacance for 10 days. Woot!
ReplyDeleteCan sexy friday some right at midnight?
ReplyDeleteEmbarrassing.
ReplyDeleteand the optimism fades.......again.
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell was that?
ReplyDeletePoor RC.
ReplyDeleteGo home boys and rest, come back on 27th and be great.
ReplyDeleteOh and BTW, nice shoes on the chick in the first pic. I love shoes. Night all.
ReplyDeleteMaybe put some pics of siberian huskys because as Bryzgalov would say, "A husky is basically a hot girl man"
ReplyDelete
