Wow '79. They were all dead by then xcept Lowell and he passed in '79. Funny how no matter how old you get you have your own personal time warp of music.
ps i was 11 in '79. though my musical tastes never discovered punk til later. my late 70's / early 80's were Genesis / Supertramp (like everyone in YUL) and classic rock (thanks CHOM). finally in '84 or '85 i found the cooler kids at my high school who gave me a lesson on what i missed
Sorry Clash fans, couldn't get into it. I'm a Stones, Zep, Who guy, although some of the newer bands like The Hip and Oasis are interesting.
I'm glad some people are recognizing that Squid has been next to useless lately. He and Gomer are eating up a ton of salary cap space and returning zip. The question is how long does the Ghost ride it out?
So Torts dropped a couple of F bombs. Apart from that, meh. Until 24/7 is about the Bruins/Habs road to the winter classic it's all bullshit. THE BEST rivalry in hockey, bar none. Who do we have to petition to make that happen?
So this blog looks to attract people (Habs Fans!) in their 30's, 40's, & 50's...have I missed any in their 20's or 60's? No teens I would have thought. I'm 47 myself and was introduced to the whole punk scene by none other than CHOM funnily enough. I won some tickets to a screening of a Sex Pistols movie back around 1981/82 - what an eye opening experience that was - "Never Mind the Bollocks" didn't mean a thing to me back then. In fact I didn't even really know what "Bollocks" meant (or were!). Now, being firmly ensconsced in a sleepy English village, I use the word Bollocks liberally -"I'm from Canada" I can still claim - "That word is not a swear word to me" - shame it doesn't work when my kids use it on their teachers...
Well now I know why there can be so much early activity on this blog. We're all old men who can't sleep in anymore.
@Moey - I agree, it was kind of meh. Nothing really interesting happened. Though Ilya Bryzgalov's ruminations on the nature of the universe was awesome. goalies are a fucked up lot
Wow '79.
