So I ended up on the Canadian soccer team's 2012 Olympic games. Norwegian refs aside, it's just fun to watch Christine Sinclair and head coach John Herdmen's relationship. Got me thinking. I wish the coach of the Habs had a relationship like that with PK, or really anyone on the team besides DD and Cube. Of course they brought home bronze while the Habs...
Finally broke down and bought a Game Center Live package. $50 for the rest of the season. From what I understand that includes the playoffs (in North America it doesn't because all playoff games are shown on TV, which is blacked out since then everyone is "in market". For us overseas it doesn't apply unless we have a cable channel that shows it, which Korea most certainly does not).
Not that I have to worry about the playoffs. The point is, I don't have to wake up early on Sundays and run to my computer every 10 minutes now, I can watch the games after work (or when I wake up on Sundays, aka 2pm) with a beer like god intended. So I might not be able to comment here as much, but I'll be here post-my-game to rant. More so.
Do I have to watch tonight? Mr. M secretly loves when they suck because I get pissed off and turn the channel. Dirty little dog. It may also mean he doesn't have to endure any payoffs. Grrrr.
Testing out my Game Center Live now with the Canes-Sens game. Very satisfied. I have no idea why I waited so long to do this. Like music and TV, they resisted the internet so long many in my generation just got used to the illegal way.
O-man...I have been deliberating this myself - 70 quid but it bodes mean tha I will have to listen to Hnic from time to time. Let me know how you get on with it. Shen the coach gets sacked - which I expect won't be much before the Olympic break, I will then get it.
I'm seeing something new here. When one team is trying to score, there are teammates directly in front of the opposing net. Is this a revolutionary new strategy? I haven't seen that in recent memory. It seems to work. Maybe the Habs could try doing that. It's experimental, but who knows?
Before they all used to get in front of the net and often blocked TFS's view - score. Maybe coachless has told them not to get in front of the net, I mean what other reason could there be?
OK I haven't watched a game all week for the most part, I will watch tonight and my luck will singlehandedly turn the season around. HAHAHAHAH I kill me
BATTLESTAR GALACTICA VIEWING UPDATE for steve, the M and Saint P:
halfway through the final season now. I've also watched the post S2 webisodes that take place on New Caprica, the movie with Captain Ensign Ro and her dubious morals, and the prequel movie with a young Adama during the first Cylon war (that one happened to be on Space last night)
HOLY FUCK THIS SHOW. No really, it is really good. You know why I like it? At any given point, you can be rooting for or against any character. Hell, scene to scene you change your mind whether someone is good or just pissing you off. Both Adamas, the Prez, Baltar (though he's almost always pissing me off), even a binch of Cylons can be good or bad, you just don't know. Keeps you on your toes and makes viewing just so fascinating. I am going to be upset when I finish because there will be no more. I may plow through the rest tonight if the Habs start sucking quick
I have made post-dinner shooters to try to get through this game. Went nuts and mixed Irish whiskey, Kahlua, Grand Marnier, and some DiSaronno for moe. Topped with a splash of 7-up. Delish! I'll be asleep by 10:00 of the first period
stirred the booze mixture with a little ice just to dilute a tiny but. strained into shot glasses, and then the little topper of 7-up. it made enough for 5 shots. this won't end well
Still here. Half watching the game, half watching the final Ziggy Stardust show steve linked to upthread. Meanwhile, the Habs aren't playing half bad I would say. but SCORE FFS
Glad you are enjoying BSG, 29, so many twists and turns in the show I didn't know what the hell was going on. Trish Helfer was freakin' hot, that's for sure.
And so many different Sixes! They all have their own charms, I would frack all of them. though the one talking to Baltar in his head is kind of creepy. though, uh that wouldn't stop the fracking
Rod Langway was an excellent defenceman and would have been a Habs great like #19, but I sure liked Ryan Walter and Rick Green. Two big parts of the '86 Cup.
It was going to be against the Habs because their darling Caps could never do anything wrong. Then they still call the penalty because the league is unbelievably corrupt.
All jokes aside, this is the worst I've seen them play all year. This is the worst I've seen any NHL team play all year. This is the worst I've seen any NHL team play...ever.
I did not watch the Habs game. I have only watched them play once in the last two weeks, the leaf game. This is deliberate. Anyone remember the teams of circa 1998-2001? Back then Reggie Houle was signing AHLer's including PJ Stuck to fill out his roster, complete shit in the system, no 1st round pick in '99. This feels a lot like that and I ain't going through that again. I'd rather watch other teams with some compete level and legitimate top 6 forwards.
Good luck Marc Bergevin, you've got a lot of work ahead of you.
I PVR'd the game until my son and I finished dinner, sorry I couldn't supply the juce, though I did sneak one in. Maybe that's why they lost? Could there be another reason? What the hell is going on? We all know they can play better than the team that's been 'showing' up the past few weeks. I can only think it's because of coachless. Can someone help tell me what the hell is going on?
I think the "politics" of hockey has divided the room. At the beginning of the year, 27, 81 and 11 were having success and 67 and 51 were not, so in order to get their "pet project" going they put 11 with them. Bournival was having success with 14 and 21 but in order to get Briere going they benched Bournival. Markov and Subban were being hailed as the best defensive pairing in the league....so they were separated. Who made all those decisions?
I would say the players have had enough despite what Gorges saying about "not quitting on anybody." I've seen this song and dance before.
I watched the start of the LA/Anaheim game last night, wow, talk about the Land of the Giants! Anaheim is fucking huge! When the playoffs start I may have to adopt them as my back-up team, I'd love to see Saku hoist the Cup before he retires. You with me Moey?
I took the liberty of hoisting this particular comment from HI/O, all credit to one Maritime Ronn who seems to know his stuff. He may be wrong because who really knows what goes on in the dressing room behind closed doors, but it makes as much sense as anything. This is for the most loyal Hab fan I know of on the internet, juce:
Louis Leblanc:
No – he will never be confused with Sid Crosby, yet here is a 23 year old-1st Round draft pick and pending RFA this summer, quite possibly getting one last final look before cutting ties, being traded (good luck) or not even being tendered a qualifying offer and becoming a UFA
Has that “Look” been one of fairness…when compared to others?
Since being called up for 3 games, he has played 7:49, 6:01, 6:20. A really great way to find out, right? …and it’s not as if he is trying to take minutes from Crosby-Malkin-Neal-Kunitz at this point.
These rookie call ups ALL play ‘scared-afraid’ knowing that if any little error transpires, they will be pinned to the bench or given a bus ticket.
Easy proof. Leblanc gets 3 good shifts in the 1st period (one of the few to be seen in the blue paint) before being called for a penalty in the O zone where it was clear the defender was holding his stick at the 14:34 mark.
So how does the present coach react? He gives him 1 more shift in the 1st period – and 2 shifts in the 2nd period at the 9 and 18 minute mark. 3rd period? Throws him to the dogs, with 3 shifts when the game is already over.
Fair? Then explain this. Then you have 1 of the coach’s pets playing center that takes a lazy hooking penalty at 4:05 of the 2nd period when the Habs are down 2-0. He gets right back on the ice, tries a half hearted uncaring stick check in the D zone and misses… that DIRECTLY leads to the 3rd Washington goal and game over.
His pet reward? 10 more shifts for the rest of the game including 1:18 of PP time.
You know how lazy evenings and youtube works...

DeleteNo, I'm still a Habs fan. The stress remains.

ReplyDeleteYeah! A cheap ass penalty on WAS.

ReplyDeleteYeah right. I look forward to seeing DD, RBQ and Gio finishing out the game.
