DeleteThe howling mob (some of them anyway) over at HI/O want all the vets traded away for prospects and draft picks and run the rest of the way with the kids. Man, I don't know if that's the way to go. Look where it's got Edmonton and Calgary and to a certain extent Buffalo, it's a dangerous concept unless you want to completely tank the season. Maybe a couple of guys on expiring contracts like Gio and Crankshaft. I would definitely re-sign Markov another 4 or 5 years and reduce his minutes a bit. One trade I would seriously look at, as per the earlier rumours, if someone really wants Patches I would insist that DD go with him. Take back a less skilled center but with more size. Or, another winger and put Lego at center where he belongs. My two cents anyway.

Wth TFS in net we can afford to be somewhat sloppy on defence, what we really need is scoring. A good place to start would be just getting the shot on goal. Daizling I am looking at you. We can win with a speed kills strategy, just need to be intelligent about it. This means playing four lines high tempo. This means a shuttle between Hamilton and Montreal to compensate for the smurfs fragility. The art of war dictates, if you are a smurf you do not go to war like a power forward.
DeleteThe reason we are not scoring on some teams is because they have proper D's. The reason we get scored upon is because our D seriously sucks. God bless Vodkov for all the years, but he is getting pyloned a little too often he doesn't have the speed and runs out of gas. His Flashyness plays some D but loves the offence, himself and gets caught too often with bonehead penalties. Cube is old and was a solid third pair at his peak anyway. Y just looks confused and he isn't banging. His game is banging, so he should fucking bang. Jay George is another of our third/forth pair guys getting long in the tooth loosing a step and running out of gas. Every time I think of Ryan Mcdonagh I get angry but there was our boost the D guy we needed so badly. I think we have a reasonable amount of firepower up front. Yes there are changes to be made, but a solid crush your face D keeps the other team from getting three four or five fucking goals which will allow the front bunch to bang one or two in. Back in the mists of time when we had the big three, nobody ran the score up on us. So all we needed was a couple and it was a game. Watching Those Large Flightless Birds swoop around our end caused me to increase my blood alcohol to an unsafe level. I find myself yelling at the TV. Mrs Chester is starting to be worry and the kids just stay away. MB has to do something cause no matter how loud I yell at the TV nothing changes.

Not really, hence nobody on the farm to come up (except on D). It's going to take years for MB to fill that void.
Long winded rant, but so much what Nilan said made sense I thought it worth repeating. Bottom line, I'll be surprised if eMTy is canned this year. It's going to be a roller coaster the rest of the season, hand on tight.
