So one of the benefits we CHerish, for having fought valiant battles, is freedom of speeCH.
So, to all the asshole leafools that ripped the Habs organization for not following their team's supposed masterful lead and have a Remembrance ceremony like they did last Saturday night, three things; 1. fuck you, 2. watCH tonight's pre-game, 3. fuck you.
Well said, moeman! Love the book opened to display the pages of "Flander's Field". The suddenly- patriotic leaf, milking it for all it's worth. They're cashing in on their proximity of a tragedy and probably wouldn't give a shit otherwise, their marketing dept just loves it.
The Jets had their rookie dinner then partied Sunday at a bar on St Laurent and were spotted walking around Monday 'hungover' carrying oodles of Eska bottles, some with bags of 'em, 1 player had 2 in each hand.
Poppies are big time in the UK this year...The Tower of London has an exhibition with 888,000+ ceramic poppies planted all around the castle - try this link http://dld.bz/d2abs or google it - I work across the river from it and it is amazing
BrianWilde @BWildeCTV My phone just blew up! First reaction is Bergevin does it yet again. An extra forward gone in Moen for depth on D and help on PP in Gonchar.
@chester Pretty much all the Commonwealth uses the poppy for respect/remembrance. Check out the Tower of London's installation of 800,000+ poppies, one for each of the British/Commonwealth/Empire war dead in the Great War.
It's awesome, made of ceramic and was supposed to be taken down tomorrow but so many people have visited they may extend. The last poppy was put in on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.
Gonchar...Hmmm...methinks DGMB knows something we don't - 5 mil is quite a hit on the cap...but he's a hard player to play against if I recall - so that's good...
Apparently DGMB had talks with Dallas over CHar if they didn't come to terms with Vodkov. Talks began between the 2 teams about a week ago.
First and foremost, lest we forget. Though I often think about it, this is the day I really think about my dad and how awful the war and D-Day specifically must have been. He lost his best friend on Juno Beach. He never spoke of the war - was a kind and gentle soul.
Amen Saint P...I just re-read the Flanders Fileds passage at the top of the blog today. And I thought about how it felt to stand in the window of my office this morning looking across at the poppies at the Tower of London and watching as they fired the cannon salute across the Thames. They read out another 200 names of men who died and a 13 year old cadet planted the 888,246th ceramic poppy at the 11th minute of the 11th hour of the 11th day of November and of London fell silent. It is a moment in my life I will never forget.
Loving the song of the day btw Moeman. U2 is a band I hated when they first came out but as I aged, I grew into their music and now I really like them. I was a very happy I-tunes subscriber whn I got my free download of their new album. It really is good.
I normally don't subscribe to anything Christmassy before Remembrance Day, but GMMB has outdone himself, first RBQ and now Moen. I'm not sure about the 40 year old Gonchar - haven't seen him play this year. I suspect, as they say, there's more to come. It's great having a GM that recognizes issues and isn't afraid to make changes during the season.
That was Bergevin's first great move, getting Dudley out of that shithole toronto. Dudley must look at the 'management' of that franchise, the hiring of an 'analytics genius', etc and think "Thank fuck I'm outta there!"
Travis Moen scored a beauty of a goal against Pittsburgh in the spring of 2010 when the Habs eliminated the Pens in Game 7. Guess which defenceman let Travis blow by him to score that goal?
It appears as if this game is on TSN3 (as part of the Jets package), SN as part of the normal NHL package, and RDS. 3 different broadcasts! What a time to be alive!
Francois St. Laurent (#38) 4 minor penalties per game 12.4 PIM per game 8.8% more calls on road team 52% home win percentage Win/Loss WPG 3-2 MTL 2-4 Chris Rooney (#5) 4.1 minor penalties per game 13 PIM per game 14.4% more calls on road team 63% home win percentage Win/Loss WPG 0-2 MTL 6-1 (2-0 playoffs) Habs have won eight straight games under referee Chris Rooney. I guess Drayson Bowman isn't related to Scotty eh? So it wouldn't be appropriate to say Bowman was beamed up from Hamilton for the game? OK, I won't say it.
I am forced to watch the TSN Jets broadcast, and they compared the Bell Centre to the MTS Centre in Winnipeg. What a joke,it's not close, even if they were implying the atmosphere.
Good morning/evening/whathaveyou. Lest we forget, brothers and sisters!
Home sick today. Not terribly sick, but want a day of rest nonetheless. I deserve it.
Habs looked pretty good there in the 1st, at least better than most of their 1st periods. That has to be the first time they got 2 PPs in one period. Not that it makes a difference.
Just wondering if anyone listened to Chris Nilan's radio show after the Habs game in Vancouver. Kerry Fraser called in and talked about the hit on Emelin, the non-call and what transpired in OT. He basically said the NHL has a vendetta against the Habs and it's totally unfair. He sounded especially pissed about the non-call on the pick on Malholtra, who he called the most honest player in the league. He was also not pleased about the non-call on the head hit to Emelin. Interesting listen, you can find it on TSN's Montreal page.
Delayed by the Guardians of the Galaxy. IMHO its right up there with Fifth Element and Star Wars. I have a perfect HD quaity stream from TSN3, thank you Mr Rodgers. GO HABS GO
I've sent my resumé to BurgerVan letting him know I could be their PP coach. Keep this under wraps - i don't want it getting back to the Habs and screwing me out of a job, but here's my secret to a successful power play.
1. Shoot the puck. 2. Hit the net with aforementioned puck.
Smoking Pot is dangerous, who new. When they say the pot is so much stronger today I really doubt it. Sure the bunk was bunk but Alcapolgo Gold, Thai Stick, Black Hash from Afganistian and Jamacian Oil they were fucking awessome in any year.
Earlier this season the Sabers beat the Sharks in San Jose. Tonight they're down by 3 in Miami. Window is closing in that town. The greatest dynasty that never was.

Great job moe. I echo your sentiments.
DeleteGo Habs!
fuck the leafs and the sentiment you cant support the troops if you disagree with the mission.
DeleteI need a puppy to cuddle right frigging now! Been sick as a dog on this vacation, only starting to feel human again. Gonna listen to the game tonight.
ReplyDeleteBe well buddy!
DeleteFeel better, Moey, it really sucks to be sick on vacation, companies should allow a do-over.
DeleteThanks Juce, out of 52 weeks of the year it had to be these two. Grrrrr. Beyond frustrating.
DeleteGet well!
DeleteIn Europe if you are sick on your va kay, you do get a do over, socialism rules!
Get well soon Moey!

DeleteBREAKING: MoeMan traded to Dallars for Gonchar
ReplyDeleteHe's 40yrs old and in the last year of his $5M contract.

ReplyDeleteMaybe he's not finished. omg, would RBQ be going the other way?
DeleteOkay so who is the new Moeman? Not Gonchar, lets call him Gandolf?
ReplyDeleteTravis Moen: "I'm not surprise. I was not part of top 12. It was time to move on."
ReplyDeleteStars are keeping 400 000$ of Sergei Gonchar salary in that trade. So Gonchar cap hit in MTL will be 4.6M$.
@LouisJean_TVA
ReplyDeleteFollow
@DallasStars GM, Jim Nill says "Montreal is built to win the Stanley Cup. We didn't want to hold Gonchar back."
A bit pricey but GonCHar still has a great PP savviness and a good shot.
ReplyDeleteSuggestion for nickname, Arctic as in CHar!

Apparently DGMB had talks with Dallas over CHar if they didn't come to terms with Vodkov. Talks began between the 2 teams about a week ago.
*again* about a week ago.
DeleteI wonder if this also had something to do with Vodkov's response when he was asked about his chemistry with Gilbert.
ReplyDeleteSo he's not gonna be in the lineup tonight then...?
ReplyDeleteGonchar is scheduled to arrive in Montreal tomorrow night.
ReplyDeleteAsked about playing internationally with Vodkov what does he think joining him in Montreal? Says he always liked Vodkov.
DeleteFirst and foremost, lest we forget. Though I often think about it, this is the day I really think about my dad and how awful the war and D-Day specifically must have been. He lost his best friend on Juno Beach. He never spoke of the war - was a kind and gentle soul.

DeleteGood stuff. I expect the Habs to do justice to those that fought and lost their lives for all of us.
DeleteThis day always touches my heart.

ReplyDeleteI sense Rick Dudley has a lot to do with DGMB's final decisions.
DeleteThat was Bergevin's first great move, getting Dudley out of that shithole toronto. Dudley must look at the 'management' of that franchise, the hiring of an 'analytics genius', etc and think "Thank fuck I'm outta there!"
DeleteIts obvious that Moeman, RBQ and DDD were the weak links in the CH chain. If I am DDD is am making tiny little poops today.
ReplyDeleteOne more revelation about the CHar trade. Every defenceman who ever played for MT will play for him once again in Montreal before he is fired.
ReplyDeleteMerci MOEmaN for your time as a Hab.
ReplyDeleteHe served them well, best of luck, MOEmaN.
DeleteAmen brothers and sisters. There was a time when he was a very solid cog in the maCHine and did his job, and did it well.
DeleteYes he had CHacater and scored some nice goals. He got Concunt Crunch for the Habs and thats something we will never forget.
DeleteRBQ: I have to get my confidence back, gotta take it like a man, work my butt off and get back.
