Good stuff, moeman.
ReplyDeleteJacobs doesn't want Quebec to get a team, go figure.
ReplyDelete"Balance the fact, Quebec has a great hockey interest, [but] it's an extraordinarily small market."
Jacobs also said he was surprised that only two expansion applications were submitted when the league invited interested groups to apply in July.
"Take a look and see who applied. We had no applications from Toronto -- interesting," Jacobs said. "We had no applications from Toronto, so that says a lot. We had two legitimate ones, Quebec and Nevada -- it speaks volumes. I'd love to see us in the West to be up in Seattle. Seattle's a natural, and I would love to see one in Houston, but we can't get into that building. There are conditions and circumstances in each one of these that we have to take into consideration."
Wow...Doesn't the fact that only two interested parties applied tell him something about a) the process, b) the cost c) the viability d) the actual fan base that would support a franchise e) the politics involved in dealing with assholes like Jacobs and Buttman f) All of the above
DeleteGreat SF Moeman - Excellent ones all 'round! Patches looks very handsome with the C on his chest. Who is the Swiss Hockey Goalie Chick? What happened to TFS last night? I missed the game completely but from what I have read - they blew a 2 goal lead to let in 5 straight goals? btw. why is Chris Neal still playing professional hockey? Is the talent pool that thin in Ottawa?
ReplyDeleteI am astounded by thigh gap great SF Moeman
ReplyDeleteGYMFHG!
ReplyDeleteGYFHG!!!
ReplyDeleteFraser up to his shit again.
ReplyDeleteCash it.
ReplyDeletecrap
ReplyDeleteToker and Tinner not having a good start.
ReplyDeleteCHip!
ReplyDeletecrap
ReplyDeletePork and chicken dumplings. Spicy hoisin sauce.
ReplyDeleteDr. Ouetger bacon.
DeleteOleo in the box.
ReplyDeleteouf
ReplyDeleteSad for the lack of D Toker is (not) getting.
ReplyDeleteToker really isn't looking good at all.
ReplyDelete3 goals in 7 shots.
ReplyDeleteHabs 18 shots and little result. Hope it isn't a trend.
DeleteToker working his way to the rock at this rate
ReplyDeleteHis D didn't help but yes he isn't playing himself as TFS™'s backup.
DeletePleXXXe only missed 12 games in his last 9 seasons, wow.
ReplyDeletegCHyuk!
ReplyDeleteHe has looked FHFantastic.
DeletekidA
ReplyDeleteTied up!
Deleteugh
ReplyDeletemerde
ReplyDeleteLooks like Toker and TinTin will be enjoying cod tongues and cheeks on the Rock soon enough.
ReplyDeleteThere is a silver lining... I've heard George Street has a great bar scene
the M., you think TinTin clears waivers?
DeleteMaybe. Depends on what other teams scouts think of him.
DeletePersonally, I think MB puts a package together for a deal, they've got too many defencemen and goalies in the system. The next day or two will tell the tale.
Could they carry 8 D men?
DeleteCaptain!
ReplyDeleteAt least is was more respectable than the last one.
ReplyDeleteGilbert!
ReplyDeleteBREAKING Habs signed Oleo to a 1 year deal.
ReplyDeleteKassian is in Hospital following car accident. https://twitter.com/stevenp57/status/650629860495331328
ReplyDeleteHoly crap
Is this for real? If so, hope it's not serious. On the bright side, lots of talent available to fill in and start the season.
DeleteI see Yeast was signed (i think)
Oop sorry, I called him Oleo. Good news there.
DeleteApparently Kassian (if it's the same Kassian) crashed into a tree at 6:30 am on Clanranald on NDG, but I could only find one source.
I hope he and any passengers are ok.
Yeast signing reportedly $750,000
DeleteThey sure got him at a reasonable price.
Per witness account, truck crashed outside his house in NDG.
ReplyDeletehttps://twitter.com/TonyMarinaro?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw
Strange that there are no other reports.
ReplyDeleteTony Marinaro @TonyMarinaro 4 mins4 minutes ago
ReplyDeleteMontrealPolice now say 2women were in truck w/Kassian. & driver was 20yr old woman. Cause of accident unknown. Investigation ongoing #TSN690
To answer moe from above, I don't know if MB would want to carry 8 D, I suppose they could put somebody on the injury list to start the season with some sort of knack.
ReplyDeleteAs for Kassian, a possible DUI?
I'm enjoying this Merseyside Derby this morning. Go Liverpool!!
Confirmed by the Canadiens now per the Gazette, 20 yr old female was driving.
DeleteOn their way to early mass?
DeleteRadio says police will only confirm that A 'Zach Kassian" is at hospital. The 20 yr old female is being blood tested.
ReplyDeletehttp://montrealgazette.com/news/local-news/truck-runs-off-road-in-cote-des-neiges-notre-dame-de-grace
ReplyDelete"Police the 20-year-old woman who was driving the truck was drunk. She did a blood alcohol test and police are waiting for the results.
ReplyDeleteThe air bags deployed when the truck hit the tree. Passengers in the car included an 18-year-old woman and Kassian, who is 24. All sustained minor injuries.
The passengers were not tested for drugs or alcohol, and are not at risk of facing charges. Police could not confirm who the truck belonged to."
This story keeps getting worse. The new guy is going to have to keep his head down and should probably miss the start of the season now.
DeleteSo Kassy was out with a couple of twentysomethings, he is a young NHL player thats what they do. If it was an old guy like me it would be a differant story, but I say let the young be young/
ReplyDeleteTin Tin will be on his way to LA or the BJ's, maybe Zach will be going with him....
ReplyDeleteA great article by Jack Todd on what it means to be a Hab and why Kassian needs to up his game PDQ http://dld.bz/dVGdX
ReplyDeleteNice. Jack is getting better with age.
DeleteDustin Tokarski and Mark Barberio both will be on waivers at noon.
ReplyDeleteI said it before, they should have dealt him when he had value after the playoffs two years ago. Then again, I'm right less than a broken clock.
DeleteI don't have all the facts, and we all make mistakes, but fuck drunk driving. I know that's not a controversial statement, but you've got to be more careful. Looks like Kassian's reputation is spot on, unfortunately. Montreal ate up other 'partiers' (Sekac apprently, too) and so I'm worried not just for the team but also the victims of such stupid behaviour.
ReplyDeleteI realize he wasn't apparently driving, but still especially as the older 'gentleman'. I also don't like that no tests were done or that it's all been hush hush. Indicative of a cover-up, and as much as I love my Habs that's unacceptable. I don't care if it was the new guy or TFS. I don't support special treatment, especially in drunk driving cases.
DeleteYay! Hockey soon!
ReplyDeleteZach has a broken foot and a broken nose. DGMB, definately not happy, said he doesn't support that he was out at 6am but says he doesn't have all the facts and hasn't spoken to him yet. Says when he traded for him, he did have discussions about past behaviour and said he also knew about his rep and the risks. Said Condom simply out-played Toker.
ReplyDeleteI say cut him loose now. I'm all for second chances, but this was his second chance and he wasted no time in ruining it. Drunk driver just killed 3 kids and grandfather last weekend in Toronto. Unforgivable there, unforgivable here. Maybe for a 20 year old young'un, but Kassian should definitely know better. The team doesn't need this, on ice or off.
DeleteI'll tell you, I was a big fuck and may still be in many ways but once I became a teacher I started thinking about my actions. You make millions, you can start doing the same. Lucky only a tree was hurt, and these three knuckleheads minorly.
Well said O-man.
DeleteAll the best to Mike Weaver who hung up his skates.
ReplyDeleteUn bon gars.
DeleteTPP is a sell out of democracy and the rule of law. However its great news for Internet Lawyers cause with the content providers re writing Canada's laws there is going to be more action than Lupul gets in Vegas.
ReplyDeleteI have a sickness. I have to hate-read TSN:
ReplyDelete"But even with the balanced scoring, the Habs won’t knock off Tampa Bay in the Atlantic division playoffs. Carey Price can’t re-write the record books every year and the Habs’ relatively weak possession metrics will catch up to them."
'Cause Price was the one with unsustainable numbers, not Bishop. It could go either way, but of course they went that one way. Of course they did.
And...
"Phil Kessel will become the NHL’s first 50-goal scorer not named Alex Ovechkin since 2011-12."
Again, OF COURSE.
"Thanks to Mike Babcock, the Maple Leafs will make the largest season-to-season jump in possession metrics."
DeleteOF COURSE.
Yeah...because you grow up wanting to play hockey so that you can be part of a team with awesome possssion metrics...what a load of shit. The leaf might have a better set of coaches this season but they are still the leaf so fuck off and die all the leaf mediots. Get your parade date booked for mid November then fuck off back under your fucking putrid shit stains rocks and leave the rest of the world to play hockey while you fucking sickles assholes go work on your possession metrics...
DeleteWell said K3X.
DeleteAnd you too, Orange.
SFU, the more things change, the more they stay the same in tarrana. Man, even with a 21 year drought, they still resent the Canadiens with every fibre of their being. Jealous fucks.
DeleteWhat the M. said.
DeleteFHFers, we are in for a season of how great their leaf is at everything but playing the game. Sick fucks.
The Pens will do well in the regular season, probably better than the last few seasons. But they will be easier to neutralize in the playoffs now that they're so concentrated. Also, MAF. So there's that.
ReplyDeleteLots can happen during the season, but I think the only teams that really matter when the playoffs in the come in East are the Habs and Lightning. Rangers are on the decline (it was really just those 3 last year). But anything can happen in the season, and especially in the playoffs.
Anyway, getting ahead of ourselves. Let Kessel get a million goals, he'll be out in the first round like the rest of those superstars before the fire sale. You can only do so much with 2 superstars, 2 regular season performers and 18 AHL-ers.
I hate to say it but I think MB made his first questionable decision in trading CHarger for Kassian. I would have let Prust play out his contract and let the chips fall. Prust didn't score a lot but you knew what you were getting every night with him. Sure, he mouthed off a couple times to the Fat Walrus and nitwit Watson but I could live with that. Zach has literally got off on the wrong (broken) foot here. He should never, ever let that young girl who was more than likely drinking with him behind the wheel of his truck. He is an abettor to a DUI. He's done in Montreal already. Molson and MB will cut him loose.
ReplyDeleteLots of truth in there the M.
DeleteIs Zach worth the second CHance? He made his own mess and misery.
moe, sounds like Zach would need a full time chaperon, I think he takes an MB bullet for this transgression.
DeleteSee: Chelios, Chris or Corson, Shayne when the partying gets out of hand.
the M. you are likely bang on.
DeleteMan, seeing the footage of the accident, if the the tree wasn't there, the truck was going to smash right into that building.
DeleteTrading Chelios great move. Why not trade Patrick Roy while your at it for CHaracter issues
DeleteKassy has a drinking problem and he is getting help, chances are he will turn it around. I am all about second, third chances, bring back big TiTS.
The SFU will be talking Auston Matthews all season long. Book it. It's all they got.
ReplyDeleteYou know.
ReplyDeleteWe don't play the maple leaves or the beaners in March or April.
What happened to the great rivalry?
Are we supposed to get a hate on for the lightning and panthers?
Bring back the no dicks!
Oh fuck I loved to hate them.
Go Habs
So much for those slim hopes that Kassian would change his spots. Why these fucking millionaires never learn that calling a cab is a great fucking option is beyond me. No instead I'll have this drunk bimbo drive me home (unless they did a swap at the scene of the crash to save him from the DUI in exchange for a promise of future cash...just saying it wouldn't surprise me). Anyway as already has been said so eloquently by the M, Oman and the rest of y'all, I think we've quite likely seen the last of him in the CH. Good riddance. DSP is like "Fuck Yeah!"
ReplyDeleteFuck! I lost my Prusty for nothing. Fuck that shite.
ReplyDeleteLike I said, MB's first bad move. Jim Benning can't believe his luck, getting a heart and soul guy like Prust. The Habs only consolation is they got a draft pick out of it.
DeleteThe National Hockey League and National Hockey League Players' Association announced on Monday evening that Montreal Canadiens forward Zack Kassian had been placed in Stage Two of the Substance Abuse and Behavioural Health Program.
ReplyDeleteAs per the terms of the program, Kassian will be suspended without pay until he's cleared for a return by the program administrators.
and there you have it...adieu Zack...dickhead!
DeleteThe 2M$ salary of Zack Kassian won't count against the cap until he finish his suspension
ReplyDeleteThey said I had to go to rehab, I said no no no!
ReplyDeleteYou people are pretty harsh. Dont you think you should see what the bimbos look like before passing judgement?
ReplyDeleteTotally agree.
DeleteThere were a lot of hot babes in that part of NDG...if I recall.
Go Habs
Should he lace up or not and put on the CH jersey, lets just hope the kid can get his life together.
ReplyDeleteWell said.
DeleteBut if he does eventually lace up and play for Montreal, at least we have an easy nickname for Kassian now:
ReplyDeletereHAB.
Too soon?
Of course not. [insert golf clap here]
DeleteGood one,
DeleteWell played sir...well played!
DeletereHAB no no no
DeleteYou guys read the piece on Condon over at canadiens.com? You can't make this stuff up. When he was playing at Princeton, he shared the net with a goalie named Bonar. Yep, Condom and Boner. One's no good without the other, maybe we should look him up. http://canadiens.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=781766&navid=DL|MTL|home
ReplyDeletelol
DeleteWell, I hope he wins the battle with his demons, hockey is hockey but life is life, I wish him well with his recovery.
ReplyDeleteI want to bring some cognitive dissonance to this party. Guy Lafleur, the blond demon. Demons and Angels Cross Dressing
ReplyDeleteSFU 'power rankings' are out. Habs ranked 12th.
ReplyDeleteHabs claimed F Paul Byron from the Flames on waivers.
ReplyDeleteByron will wear number 41 with the Canadiens.
Delete$900,000 salary cap hit
DeleteSorry - what did I miss here...?? the Habs need another 5ft 8 center because...?
Delete"Byron spent parts of four seasons in the Flames organization, playing 130 games and recording 16 goals and 30 assists. He was limited to just 57 games with Calgary in 2014-15 after sustaining a multitude of injuries, including a broken toe, a hernia, and wrist surgery that effectively ended his season.
DeleteHis wrist injury lingered into the pre-season, and Byron also sustained a groin injury."
http://flames.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=781951
Judging by some of the comments there, the fans really liked him.
DeleteLordY
Delete"Breakaway Byron" is his nickname apparently ...but he never scores on them...so I propose we call him...Mist
DeleteBarberio and Tokarski not claimed.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to cal, this early - the first time Barberio gets called up ius the last time he sees the Rock this season. He played well in the pre-season and I sense that if he gets his shot, he'll take it. So let's see what happens. As for Toker, I hope he gets his game back.
DeleteDollar sent to the AHL.
ReplyDeleteHere's what some of TFS's NHL peers had to say about him.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.tvasports.ca/2015/10/06/price-vu-par-les-vedettes-de-la-lnh
One more sleep, FHFers!!
ReplyDeleteNo young guys making the main club so far, MB going all in for the Big Win with cheap veterans like Jizz and Flash, now some penalty killer specialist to go with the likes of InLikeFlynn and Torrey. I still don't think they have enough firepower to take out Tampon Bay or a western contender. I'm not getting my hopes up, just along for the ride. Go Habs though....
ReplyDeletehttps://youtu.be/Brs6Xr9yzOY vote that fucker out
ReplyDeleteNew commercial, PFK pizza delivery guy.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?t=1&v=U_Z6elOm1_k
Love it!
DeleteAs juce pointed out already, Habs ranked 12th over at the Toronto Sports Network. Not a surprise. But Pens ranked 2nd. I think we all know why. Look out for the Pitts love this year from the mediots because their favourite Biggest Loser contestant happens to play for them now. Usually the CotU and their fans immediately forget their past 'stars', but I suppose they know deep down they have nothing else to cheer for this year (or for the next 5,10,20 years) and have hitched their broken down wagon to the fattest horse they could find. During my fantasy draft last night I was told several times by various leaf fans that Ke$$el will get at least 50 goals. Just to put that in perspective, only Ovie has done that in the last 5 years. TSN also predicting this miracle.
ReplyDeleteCBC cheered AGAINST Canada in Sochi because of Ke$$el. Never forget. Loyalty and pride mean nothing to these people.
+1,000,000 for this excellent rant!
DeleteYou guys gotta stop reading stuff on TSN - it's not healthy...and it's mostly not even well written...
