I'm ready.
Go Habs
Welcome back Chester!
DeleteEven more than the game, I am looking forward to br'er moe tearing the SFUs a new one!
ReplyDeleteGo Habs!
I'm in game shape!
DeleteThey are already complaining that ratings this year will be low because of their putrid leaf. In the same breath they say that the top two rated games last year were vs. the Habs. Maybe its the Canadiens that are popular. Whodathunkdat!?
DeleteGo You Fucking Habs Go Go GO GO
ReplyDeleteHey Hey! Hockey Season is about to begin! God bless you Moeman for keeping this, possibly the Greatest Hockey Blog In The World Ever...alive and kicking all summer long. My wish for the next year is that the summer is much much shorter for us all! I am all primed and ready for the late night season to begin. I love staying up into the we hours to watch the Habs and you know I will be there tonight! I don't always hang around until the end of the games (I do have to ensure I keep my job) but I will always have my fair share to say about the games as the season progresses. This year I am not going to read any leaf press if I can possibly help myself, because I know what it is going to say already. I won't slam MT until it is clearly obvious that he is in need of slamming and I remain firmly on the side of "In DGMB We Trust". I see no upside to keeping Kassian and I love that Tin Tin is still in town. If he gets to play, he'll reward us all for the faith shown. Patches My Captain - Lead us to the promised Land! This is it everyone! Bon Match!! Go You Fucking Habs Go! Go You Fucking Habs Go! Go You Fucking Habs Go! Go You Fucking Habs Go! Go You Fucking Habs Go! Go You Fucking Habs Go! ReplyDeleteRighteous.
Delete1) I laughed so hard at that cat/dog comic that I woke up my neighbour. I'm still in tears. FACEBOOK POST!
ReplyDelete2) Yay! Hockey is back! Checked on my centerice connection, everything seems to be in order and ready to go.
3) I don't think I'll join live, though. China (yes, the whole country!) is 12 hours ahead of you guys, so that's 7am for me. On my off day. Though I'll admit, I have lots of 'off' days now as a student. Plus, I have to use a VPN (hide my IP) to post here since I'm behind the Great Firewall of China now, which slows down my stream a lot. But really it's the sleeping in part, and then I can skip the commercials, too! But I'll probably wake up at 7am anyway. This is my Christmas, afterall (since actual Christmas has turned into me drinking alone and eating overpriced salami while I try to figure out where things went wrong. See: Living in Asia, above).
4) I'm in a fantasy pool this year. I put gCHuck and Gkid in my queue for later and then my connection went dead. By the time I relogged in they had been picked automatically. This was on the 5th round. I got the first pick which never happens, so I chose Ovie first because DUH, but then TFS was gone by my next turn. Got Halak later on, though. Come on you midget Slovak! I also got PatCHes, but on purpose. PK was also gone early.
5) GYFHG!
Ni-hao o'man!
DeleteTSN hatewatch time:
ReplyDeleteHabs season preview spends the first 30 secs on montage about how Price saved their bacon and they "snuck by" the Sens in the first round, but lost decisively in the 2nd (they were both 6 games, for those not keeping score at home)
First 2 minutes, including interview with John Lu, somberly talking about Kassian is a black mark on the team and how the Habs are mired in this controversy. About a guy that hasn't played a regular season game for them, and was a 4th line winger at best.
1 minute about how they can't score and the PP is terrible.
1 minute about how the defence is good, but not great. Petry will help.
1 more minute about how they can't score, but PatCHes is great.
Conclusion: They'll get into the playoffs if Price is God again. 2nd in the Atlantic. No mention of the 2nd overall finish last year, or the 104 point season the year before. Just "good enough" for the playoffs, probably.
Let the HATE begin!
HOCKEY WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
ReplyDeleteJust FYI kids not sure how much of the game I will see. I have been working almost 24/7 to get rid of Stephen Harper. So I will only be around sporadically between now and the 19th. Hold the fort for me!

You are truly doing God's work. And by 'god' I mean 'decent people'.
Personally, as a Canadian who lives overseas Harper has made it very hard for me to actually vote. My last address is in Ville Marie/Sud-Ouest Montreal, but more likely I'd be registered in my family's riding of Barrie/Springwater which is so Conservative that they were they only one's to go blue in Ontario in 1993 when the whole country went red. Stockwell Day is from Barrie. This is why I was marked as "Pierre, the ethnic kid" growing up.
DeleteWonderbread comes to Barrie to judge if their sliced bread is white enough. We have several white outs a year, mostly in July during the county fair. We had a guy come out as gay once. Turns out he was just really happy...about hating gays.
DeleteBarrie is really conservative, is what I'm trying to say here.
I expect Blabs will have his putrid leaf play the trap.
ReplyDeleteeMpTy already has his squad play the trap.
Tonight's show could theoretically be a bit boring. Just sayin'.

DeleteFirst shot, first goal.
ReplyDeleteAfter being outshot 3-0 by the Toronto Maple Leafs early in Wednesday's season opener, the Montreal Canadiens took a 1-0 lead on a seemingly harmless shot from captain Max Pacioretty that managed to squeak past Jonathan Bernier.
The goal - the very first of the 2015-16 regular season - was set up by a brilliant breakout pass from P.K. Subban.
(Y) will bide his time and when Kadri is not expecting it BAM!

ReplyDeleteNo deterrent for a BS play if it is 4 and 4 after you have to protect your teammate. That's where hockey always gets it wrong.
Watched some of the pre-game SFU bullshit, fucking doug maclean is the absolute worst fucking hab-hater of the bunch. I'd like to kick him in the nuts.

ReplyDeleteMandela should have had 2 for tripping Yeast.
ReplyDeleteOn the replay you see the leaf player how has PleXXXe's stick lifted high as they go to the net and PleXXXe has to tug to free it.
ReplyDeleteThe SFU have set it up that the leaf can't lose. If they win blabs is a genius and if they lose it doesn't matter because they aren't supposed to win anyway.
ReplyDeleteAs for the Habs, Price is still the Man, they still can't score and the PP is useless. It's deja vu all over again.
Babcock was no fool, he knew he was set up for a win-win hockey situation for the same reasons you mentioned (hence 'there will be pain' comment to cover his ass) and set up for him and his future generations in life with $50M big ones.

ReplyDeleteFunny and telling how harper the leaf fan stayed away.
New SFU spin, this was a 'different leaf loss'. One fucking game in, Habs played half a game. Pinheads.

ReplyDeleteWhat a great game for our new Captain PatCHes.
ReplyDeletePFK was really smartly moving out there too.
Just got in after another long shift at the shit factory. Great to see FHF in full bloom even on the first game. Le Hab needs a roomate lol. 29 do not get me started on Harper, but you already did. Anyway your a Norman Bethune trying to heal the nation while most of it sleeps. I am still vacillinating between the NDP and Liberals locally, I am totally ABH, with a huge case of Harper dergangement syndrome going back more than a decade. However if you listen to Steve, you know Trudeau is the real deal and the only one who can bring my Canada back.
ReplyDeleteI watched the last 10 of the second and we dominated. The only sore spot it looks like DDD is the second line center merde!
Goodnight all, thanks moeman for giving us this place to share with fellow FHFers.

Delete1) Yay! Habs win!
ReplyDelete2) By the end of the 1st I was reminded why I get so frustrated watching hockey/NHL. Refs doing what they can for one team while the announcers are calling a whole other game than I'm watching. Very disheartening and frustrating.
3) Sick of these opening night games in Toronto. When does it become Montreal's turn? Used to be the flip side was the Habs hosting the last game of the season between these two, but that doesn't even happen anymore and the leaf are irrelevant by that point anyway.
4) I'm sick of complaining about the announcers, but seriously if you closed your eyes you would have had no idea that another team was even on the ice for most of the game. Also, idiot leaf fans might be easy to fool but when you go out of your way to not show a replay of a particular play (i.e. gKid's penalty that led to a goal, "high stick" (aka dive) on Kadri) actual hockey fans know you're hiding something.
5) I'm sick of complaining about the refs, but it's tiring watching games where you know they're going out of their way to favour one team. In the 3rd I said out loud to myself without a hint of sarcasm, "I just hope they can kill off the leaf PP coming up," and literally as I finished saying it the leaf got a PP. No sport should ever be that predictable, especially when it comes to officiating.
6) Dangerous hit from behind away from the play, intent to injure one of the best players in the league. 2 minutes, quickly offset to result in a 4on4. Good to see the league still not taking this crap seriously (at least not on certain teams).
Anyway, didn't see much change on the PP and the curse of constantly missing the net (which results in a cleared zone) is still with them. But it was nice to see gCHuck at center and getting the GWG, and Jizz and...Fleischmann (do we have a nickname for him yet?) looked good out there, too. And of course TFS was still TFS.
"The reigning Hart and Vezina Trophy-winning goaltender made 36 saves as the Montreal Canadiens beat the much-improved Toronto Maple Leafs 3-1 Wednesday night in the season opener at Air Canada Centre."
ReplyDeleteYes, you can clearly see they're much improved after one game, which they lost. Keep drinking the kool-aid. Eventually the pain will go away, morons.
""Now, Carey (Price) isn't bad so you're not going to play versus him every night. They don't even know over there that he made huge saves, that's just another day's work for him."
DeleteWhat the fuck does that mean? that the Habs and/or their fans are stupid? Hey Bab cock, this isn't taranns or taranna fans, we know hockey here.
"I thought their goaltender was real solid," Babcock said.
ReplyDeleteHis name is Carey Price, Babs. He's the one who won you that gold medal in Sochi last year. Now go back to hiding in Toronto. If Montreal doesn't win the Cup I hope Detroit does so you can be exposed for the fraud you are.
Any hockey game that ends up with the Habs beating the leaf - I don't care if it's pre-season, off-season, mid season or the first game of the year - is a good game! A win is a win. Good to see TFS is...well...TFS! The hit on PFK in the 1st was dangerous and I really thought the league wanted that kind of stuff out of the game - suspending that guy (forget his name) for half a season was, I thought, the precedent setter for this year...but alas - nothing! And tagging DSP with a minor when he went to his teammate's rescue is just the worst kind of bullshit...unless you're giving the other guy 5 and a game or a double minor or something that recognises that the leaf player was doing something very very wrong! I loved that DSP came to PFK's defence very clearly - he sent a message that you won't get away with fucking with our best players. In the past some Habs have been guilty of a bit of indifference in this regard - so good on DSP. I haven't seen all the highlights yet so can't comment much more on the 2nd and 3rd periods. Looking forward to Saturday night...
ReplyDeleteHe's the leaf player that doesn't get paid.
DeleteHis name is Leo the Liar, you know, the same guy who was caught speeding in Finland during the summer where traffic fines there are based on income and Komarov tried to tell the courts he did not have any income.
"While Komarov admitted he was a professional hockey player, he ultimately reported an income of "€0.00" Komarov reportedly claimed it was technically correct to say his income was zero as players don't receive pay through the summer.
The prosecutor pointed out that both speeding incidents happened after Komarov signed a four year contract with a US$2.95M AAV in July.
While we have not been able to determine if Judge Judy was presiding, we imagine if she were, this would have been the reaction.
The judge agreed that claiming to have zero income via the technicality that he does not receive a paycheque in the off-season was deliberately misleading. The judge hit Komarov with a big check to his chequebook:"
€35,600."
I guess I should have stopped reading after, "For a while on Wednesday, the Maple Leafs’ season opener looked more like Baseball Night in the Centre of the Hockey Universe." Only in arrogant Toronto can you describe your town as the center of the universe when your team has been irrelevant for almost half a century.
ReplyDeleteBut anyway, this idea that the leaf is totally improved after one game (and a loss at that) is so hilarious. May I remind everyone that it took a late fluke goal by PleXXXe in last year's opener for the Habs to win. Heck, the leaf was 10 games over .500 just before Christmas and the media and their idiot fans were picking out championship rings. How did that end for them?
It's just such blatant BS, desperately trying to keep sports' biggest dummies lining up to empty their wallets. It'd be laughable if it didn't work so well for so long. When I talk to my leaf fans back home I ask them how they can be so naive, but they just call it being loyal. And then they'll repeat exactly what Cherry or some other moron told them. "We're just starting the rebuild! Give it time!" "Just another year or so!" "(enter player's name) is such a hidden gem! You'll see!" I mean, support your team through good and bad. But think for yourself.
I guess that's hard to do at the center of the universe.
In most celestial things the center is generally a black hole from which nothing escapes.
ReplyDeleteGo Habs
Pathetic little Canadian Press hack and leaf apologist whynno always has to slight the Habs; "Even though Montreal Canadiens players bristle at the notion that their success is driven by Carey Price, the goaltender provided another reminder of that at the start of a new season."
ReplyDeleteYeah sure they do, you jealous bristling SFU.
"Blue Jays player wears Canadiens shirt to Maple Leafs game."
ReplyDeleteFirst contender for best headline of the year.
Considering the source, this one surprised me, they even included a tweet from a Raptors blogger.
Delete"Canadiens' P.K. Subban falls victim to Komarov cheap shot"

ReplyDelete"So The Sports Forecaster (Hi there Gabe Farnesi) magazine suggests in their NHL preview edition that to think Carey Price can repeat his performance of a season ago would be delusional. Makes you wonder if they’d say the same thing about Sidney Crosby or Alex Ovechkin. Why does it seem so difficult to grasp the notion that the best player in the NHL is not a skater but a goaltender?"
http://www.mitchmelnick.com/the-good-the-bad-the-ugly-2015-16-game-one/
Too bad about the blue jays and their arrogant fans.
ReplyDeleteOur Price is better than their Price.
Ok, so I didn't want to talk about this because it's a new season and it looked like MT was finally being forced to play the best players more. But...
ReplyDeleteDDD still had the 3rd highest TOI out of the forwards on Wednesday night. He led all forwards after 2 periods. 2+ minutes more than gCHuck.
(Fleischmann was 2nd for TOI. PatCHes was first.)
We were lulled into acceptance by the official titles (number 2 center, third line) but it hasn't changed at all. It really is a sickness. MT and DDD cannot be on the same team together. Obviously the decision to put DDD on the 3rd line and gCHuck on centeer came from above, and I wonder if MB looked at the stats from Wed and had a talk with MT.
Because, seriously, it's like a drug addiction at this point. Last year we were asking if any other team in the league would have DDD as the #1 center. Now we can ask if any other team in the league plays their 3rd line center more than any other center. Really guys, this isn't nitpicking anymore. We have a coach with a drug problem and the drug's name is Davey Desharnais.
As much as I hate to agree with a Hab hating hack like Doug MacLean, in his pre-game crap session he said the team doesn't have good enough centers to truly compete for the Cup. AG27 is good and will get better but is only 20 years old. Pleks doesn't look good with Max and is better suited for 2nd line duties like Saku was. So, by default it falls to DD to carry the load and although he is a talented player he doesn't have the physical attributes for that role. MT doesn't have much choice at the moment. Hopefully, if AG27 can grow into the role or if Michael McCarron can light it up in the AHL he could possibly be inserted between Max and KidG(A). It's early days so don't panic.
DeleteGee, what happened to SUF's phat phil? They way they were hyping they form leaf he should have had scored 10 last night.
