Hey kidz! 29 here. The Dump Harper campaign has proven successful. And yours truly was sorta kinda part of it in his own small way.
NOW, talking politics on a sports blog is fucking stupid. Sports fans, and Habs fans, cover the ideological spectrum from the Conservatives to the Marijuana Party [/inhales]. We are all united by 24 Cups.That's what's fucking important. While I expect a big CHunk of you are delighted Mr. Harper has waved buh-bye, I am sure there are Cons reading this now, and NDP'ers, and Greens, and even Bloquistes (maybe! you never know!). While your humble blogger Lib is delighted this morning (and hungover), life goes on, we go back to work, and the Habs get back on the ice. But look at that dude in the 9 sweater, I think that's some CHange we can get behind. Until he fucks it up.
Oh yeah, 7:30 tonight, 6-0, best team in hockey, conference leaders battle, yada yada Blues something or other.
~~~
Orangeman 1:31 AM
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm not naive, the Libs have their own problems (and I'm not necessarily a Liberal voter, not that it matters since Harper took away that right from me!). But Harper and his cronies were driving our country completely off the cliff, and this is a course correction we needed. And I'm glad it's a majority so we don't have to go through this again in a year. Though it would have been interesting to see if the NDP and Grits would have formed a coalition in that case. I would have been on board with that.
I just hope my basic civil rights will be restored by next election. The Rhinosaurus Party needs my support!
Orangeman 1:34 AM
And whoever you voted for, we can all agree on one thing. The leaf suck.
K3X 4:29 AM
ReplyDeleteWell done Canada. I don't know enough about JT's politics to comment on what he'll be like as a Prime Minister but I do know that he has charisma, pedigree and enough of a majority to make changes happen. My mom voted for him, although it looks like her riding stayed Blue. The last thing I will say on the issue is simple..."Be careful what you wish for..."
In the banner pic, the other guy in the Habs jersey is Marc Miller from Ville-Marie. That's my guy, who crushed his NDP rival.
ReplyDeleteGet fill in 29! I see the picture of Mr. Dryden and I am sad that he didn't stick around for another kick at the political can - the guy who replaced him beat the Con candidate by a few thousand votes - he would have surely walked it! Whaddyagonnado! Let's hope the Habs don't have an election night hangover! Go Habs Go!!
ReplyDeleteAWESOME!
ReplyDeleteThanks 29 for the morning skate, and your selfless efforts to not only change Canada, but to create a childish atmosphere that is cyicism free. I never thought I would look at politics with such hope again. Congrats to Marc Miller, I expect we will see 29 fingerprints all over Canada's internet legislation. My biggest fear is the TPP will chop off your hands before they leave the pocket. I am looking forward to seeing more of Ms Joly The ying of Rona Ambrose yang I hope.
ReplyDeleteI was Thinkingaboot this historic occasion. Bottom line Trudeau won, it was Trudeau who took a rented mule beaten and lame and transformed it into a unicorn. My Canada has Trudeau as Prime Minister!
As most of you know, New Brunswick went totally red last night and I fervently hope that Mr. Trudeau (who visited the province a few times during the campaign) will help pull this province out of the doldrums it has been in for seemingly forever. We New Brunswickers are desperate for some good news and some employment opportunities for our youth who are leaving in droves. We were sick and tired of austerity and hopefully Mr. Trudeau will live up to his promises and open the financial tap even a little bit. As I get older I get more cynical about politicians and their true motives....no, I'm not going to go there. This is, as 29 said, a hockey blog and I'm glad the new PM is a Habs fans. The former PM was a leaf fan so he got his just desserts last night.
ReplyDeleteshould we mention the fact that the goal was disallowed because patches almost got killed back in the day so they have the curved glass now?
ReplyDeleteYes.
Deleteonly curved glass can beat TFS
ReplyDeleteCash it.
ReplyDeleteSt. Louis came out hard and fast early and sorta caught the Habs off guard. Slowly but surely the boys are taking over. Price was outstanding in the first. I'm watching on City Montreal, actually I'm on Center Ice, I don't get that City channel. I'm OK with Bartlett and York calling the game but the intermission has SFU Morrison and Beaner Jaffe...wtf...c'mon Rogers can't find an ex-Hab or two to help Chantal Desjardins?
ReplyDeleteman you are right on about the Sportsnet personnel. I like Bartlett, think he does a decent if a bit serviceable job York is bland but inoffensive at least for the most part. Those SFU fucks during intermission need to STFU
ReplyDeleteOtt is a fucking rat.
ReplyDelete7-0. Undefeated. Unreal.
ReplyDeleteSomeone pinCH me.
ReplyDeletepinCH!
DeleteThx for the positively positive thread 29!
ReplyDeletede nada!
Deletexlant win
ReplyDeleteWow
ReplyDeleteTFS = The First Star. It's all making sense now.
ReplyDelete7-0. Bet tsn moves them up to 10th in their power rankings.
ReplyDeleteThey'll give TFS the 1st spot because according to them he is a team on his own.
DeleteHa! They're giving TFS a break from the first star post game interview!
ReplyDeleteSomething new? TFS first star, but the captain talks to RDS i/o TSF and signs the lens.
ReplyDeleteLove how TFS (new Dad coming up?) singles out kids in the crowd for the star pucks.
ReplyDeleteJaro also got a shutout tonight.
ReplyDeleteit looking more and more that Jaro for Lego was a win for us
DeleteDuring the 3rd kidA asks Ott, "what are you doing on the ice, I don't understand why you're on the ice"? Ott says he's be on the ice for 15 years, kidA says '15 years doing nothing is a long time"
ReplyDeleteMerci and goodnight all.
ReplyDeleteA few bullet point TMS-style statistical factoids this AM:
ReplyDelete- Habs have 7 wins, no other team in the Eastern conf has more than 4
- Habs lead the league in GA /game at 1.00. Next team is 1.83
- The Habs lead the league in shots per game. Shots per game! Can you fucking believe that? Maybe SFU could mention that next time they talk about the team's style of play
- Habs have outscored their opponents 11-1 in the 3rd period
- Top 4 in +/- in the league are all Habs
Wheeeeee this is fun.
Yes I'm up early. I keep thinking I have to go to the campaign office, but I don't!
DeleteGood Morning 29, yes, all these statistics point to the Habs as being a great team. A dominant team. But the Sick Fucks United (aka Toronto media) will never mention it on any of their web sites or TV shows. Instead, they will focus on Side Show Babs latest leaf practice or how the young leaf are being groomed to play "the right way" and lose graciously until they learn how to actually win games.
DeleteI'm sure most of you FHFer's have seen the latest trailer for Star Wars the Force Awakens. That's what I think has happened with the Habs and in particular Carey Price. Something has awakened among the core group, they are on a mission. Go Habs Go!
Another great win and another shuttie for TFS! I have one question about last night's game - a game that I sadly only saw the first 15 minutes of... - What was with the singers at the beginning? Where was Sara?
ReplyDeleteI like Sara.
DeleteI want one.
Go Habs
Dibs.
Deletemoeman upthread
ReplyDelete"Love how TFS (new Dad coming up?) singles out kids in the crowd for the star pucks" He's always looks for he kids, but yes, the stork is coming end of April.
Wow, if Deadpsin is covering hockey, it must be important:
ReplyDeletehttp://deadspin.com/the-canadiens-are-so-hot-right-now-1737757512
Breaking" Tortarella will replace Todd Richards.
ReplyDeleteThe Good Guys keep winning. Just wait till reHAB comes back. I hope he makes it, however I cant think of a single reclaim that ever took, Brian Fogerty comes to mind, maybe the TiTs brothers as well.
ReplyDeleteI am still giggling with delight of the thought of Fat Steve watching the news in his Calgary bunker, talking to his cats and eating Shit as Justin undoes all his madness. That monster statue of facism against communism to be replaced by the Perrie Elliot Trudeau justice building. You know what sometimes there is fucking Justice.
ReplyDeleteUp thread I trashed the SFU and they rightfully deserve it.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I just listened to a very good interview with Brendan Gallagher on, of all places and believe it or not, leaf lunch on tsn. I am home today nursing an arthritic foot and a knee with tendonitis so looking for something to watch and to see if the Habs would get any love today for their great start to the season. For those who don't know, leaf lunch does cover a lot of leaf obviously, but they also discuss other teams or NHL news, like today's Torts hiring in Clb. Lo and behold they announce the kidG interview so I stick around for that. Now, the host Brian Hayes can be obnoxious in his Toronto way from time to time but his sidekicks, Jeff O'Neill and Jamie McLennan are tolerable. MacLennan talks too much but knows his stuff and O'Neill is a natural born comedian and I actually like listening to him. He said on the show one time that Montreal was a better city culturally than Toronto and Hayes vilified him for it. O'Neill stood his ground and earned my respect for that.
Anyway, the Habs got some airtime and some props from two leaf fans (McLennan isn't) and it was a great interview with kidG. He is an intelligent young man who learned a great deal from former Hab and FHFave Josh Gorges. Of course Price and his unbelievable play was also discussed but McLennan, a former goalie, said the team IS more than just Carey, they have great depth, balanced scoring and great structure. Carey just adds to it. Oh, they also mentioned he may be the best hockey player in the world at the moment. I would agree with that assessment.
I thought I would share this with you all. Good afternoon.
Beauty! Fix that foot and knee (might help the golf score!).
DeleteCullen on SFU web: "Montreal’s meal-ticket stopped all 38 shots that he faced in a 3-0 win against St. Louis, raising his save percentage to .966 through his first six starts this season. "
DeleteDon't pay any attention to that leafool. He's just some fantasy sports guru wannabe know nothing.
DeleteRe: foot and knee, that's what I'm doing the next few days, rest and rehab. Also,no more golf scores as they have aerated the greens. You can't get a true roll anymore so we just two-putt and move on. I tweaked my friggin knee yesterday, my right foot stopped suddenly and my leg kept going coming out of a rough spot, kind of hyper-extended the knee---- Yowtch!!!
Head to the Caribbean !
DeleteHey I didn't get last night's game here on the east coast. And i haven't read too far upthread, so forgive me if this suggestion has been made already. Not sure if we've decided on a handle for Torrey Mitchell yet or not, but considering the outcome from Monday night, I suggest we change his name to Grit.
ReplyDeleteGreat time to be a Liberal/Habs/Patriots fan! The trifecta.
As in Greenfield Park Grit!
DeleteMme TFS isn't pleased and she is (somewhat) right (blame social media);
Apologies for tagging on, I guess...
Gee, now I feel really bad about mentioning it above. I thought if the media new...I should have known better. She's 100% right, when your expecting, you want to be the ones to tell family and friends at the time of your own choosing, some don't want to let anyone know right away. My wholehearted apologies to Mrs Price.
I read it in 5,4,3,2,1 and it read well.
DeleteGood read. TheBrown must feel dirty working part time with the SFUs.
DeleteI hope Strombo gets to really rub it in the faces of kypridiot and the rest of the leaf fanboy pack on hnic this Saturday.
Rinaldo ejected for a nasty hit in he face. I guess that 40 min video session he had with Quintal in Boston didn't provide the result DOPS intended. let's see how serious they really are about it.
Day three of Fat Steve eating shit, he farted and it was so strong it melted his plastic hair. Some things are cosmic I admit that and the 2015-16 Habs are in that orbit.
ReplyDeleteCan I say something cause I never played in the Buttman NHL?
