Don't know if any of you guys and gals are watching the World Juniors but I am not impressed at all with future laff superstar midget marner. He's done SFA so far, Dylan Strome is way better, glad the Coyotes snagged him ahead of the putrid leaf. One player I am impressed with is (forgive my bias) Saint John Sea Dog Thomas Chabot. He's a great skater and passer. Too bad the 'Turds managed to pick him last June.
I'm glad the Habs bloodletting ended last night, but according to what I've been reading over at HI/O, eMTy is still feeding his wee Davey addiction. That will eventually be the Habs downfall I fear.
Ok someone has to explain something to me...because maybe I'm getting old and can't possibly understand stuff...but last night Condon kept the Habs in the game. But now I hear that "he who won't be fired...ever ..." Has decided that he is going to put newly acquired Ben Scrivens in nets against one of the leagues hottest teams...he was a shit his lie for the leaf...was riding the pine in the AHL and was a nothing for nothing deal for the Habs...but now he gets a start? What in the fucking name of Guy Lafleur am I missing here? What kind of ridiculous bullshit us going on with this team? Does DGMB use fucking drugs that just block out his vision related to the coach? If the coach and DGMZb think that Ben Scrivens is the answer to what ails the Habs, they there is a funk lot more wrong than we all think!...just sayin...
Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!!!!!!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!!!!!!!

Wow, watched the lowlites of the broon/turd game. Absolutely ridiculous the shit the refs were letting the broons get away with, including the lowbridge by ratface and a 'clothesline', not to mention ratface getting a 2 minute slashing penalty for an obvious spearing. The shit that happened in that game is all on the refs. They along with ratface should be suspended...oh wait they were taking direction from the league. never mind.
As you may well have discovered, we around here love women and of course and mostly, our FHFemmes. I say this because appreciation of beauty goes way beyond the physical. We all have spectacular females that have carried, cared and cultured us.
So, news is that the disgusting bill cosby has finally been forced to appear in court, for violating many, many women. The sick fuck (like I am going to type he's alleged, sue me you POS) needs to be found guilty, sentenced and finish his days in jail.
Yes, realisticly he could have had any women if the world if he had the charm. The fact that he needed drugs to close the deal makes him the star pupil of big PHARM
I'm going to offer this: The Cosby I remember was a great stand up comedian and story teller I used to see occasionally on the Ed Sullivan Show when I was a kid. One of my friends bought his albums and we had many laughs listening to him tell about his athletic days in university, his childhood and many other subjects of daily life with no vulgarity or shock matter. That is the Bill Cosby I want to remember, not the sad, old rapist he became. Hopefully he gets the punishment he deserves and the women he victimized get justice and some sort of closure. It's just sad all around. To me anyway. I hope this doesn't offend anyone, it's just how I feel.
How does Komarov never get suspended? He just hit Letang from behind, Leo was on his way to the room, then called back to sit in the penalty box. He should have been suspended for hitting PFK too and got off scott free.
The Montreal Canadiens are boxed into a corner when it comes to hiring a coach. There's nothing anyone can do about it it's just reality. MB lost the best coach in the organization when Gerard Gallant left for sunny Florida and inherited a team with lots of young, skilled talent. I read a few minutes ago that 20 year old first line center Aleksander Barkov, picked third overall 2 years ago played nearly 20 minutes last night, scoring two and setting up another. I guess Coach Gallant doesn't need to "shelter" him during a game and is letting him learn on the job. 21 year old Alex Galchenyuk can't as good a player as his coach thinks he's a defensive liability or maybe he's just a bust.
I also read in the Gazette the Dave Stubbs interview with MB early in December before the wheels fell completely off the Habs drivetrain. Seems he is deliberately trying to set the bar low for Montreal's performance. "Just make the playoffs" is the new mantra, maybe win a round, play maybe two and lose, it's "hey, we had a good season." Don't think about the Cup anymore, with 30 teams in a salary cap league. It's near impossible anyway. Forget about acquiring high end talent, that's impossible too. Geez, maybe he should give Jim Nill in Dallas a call for tips, he sure seems to have figured it out.
As fans of the team, we tend to over-rate the players, probably fans of other teams are guilty of this as well. MB said he believed in his group of players and his coaching staff. I'm not buying it anymore, most of the players playing for Montreal are average at best, the only exceptions being Price and Subban. I thought Galchenyuk might be an elite player one day but that will never happen under Therrien. That dolt chokes the life out of his best, most skilled players. He can't help himself because it was how he had to play to make a team. I don't care if the Habs manage to turn things around and finish the season in a positive fashion. They just aren't good enough. Another sad state of affairs.
Finally, I was entertained today watching a group of minor league pros, mostly ex-NHLers, play a fast paced, wide open style of hockey with 11 goals in total scored. Team Canada rallied from being down 4-1 in the second period to beat host club HC Davos 6-5 in the Spengler Cup tournament. As I mentioned before, old friends Tom Pyatt, Matt D'Agostini, Manny Malholtra and one of Steve's faves MAB are on that team. They play for the championship early tomorrow morning 6:00am ET. Set your PVR then get up a little later and have a bowl of cereal and a cup of coffee and watch a much more fun style of hockey than buttman's coached-to-death-structure-is-all-choking-defence-first NHL clusterfuck.
Sorry for the long rant. Happy New Year FHFriends!
I think a lot of us felt the same way when Gallant was offered the FLA position and kudos for the CH for giving him what he needed to make the career move. We'll never know what he meant to the players but he seemed like a pretty influential piece. Again, you can never let a good man not go for life opportunities.
The current slump/rut is challenging not only our team but ourselves as fans of the greatest hockey/sports franchise, ever. We want to see them succeed to the highest level. (BTW, I don't believe in the word 'deserve', as it is selfish, like leafools). Things aren't FHFun right now, collectively shit play, hard to figure, mostly. The team is lacking confidence. The coaching staff is scrambling trying to get it going. My true belief is that KidA and TFS™ are the foundation of this confidence. PFK misses it too. He is maybe trying too hard to compensate. Surely the AHLers brought up to shore the team are doing their part. PatCHes can't be sleeping well.
I think when KidA gets back and the lines are put back and DDD back as the 3rd liner and maybe Carey is 100% before February, that they regroup, Chip away at a winning record and give us a great playoffs.
There is muCH learning to be done with this severe dip.
I haven't slagged MT2 much but he may have plateaued (without Price).
Shit la marde, the whole thing should be racked up to bad luck, bad ice, bad refs, and a handful of misguided panicky moves. Let's step back a moment.
Having watched most of the games this month, I have noticed the wheels falling off for DDD, Lego, TurtlePleks, and Oleo, with CHip and Y and even PatCHes at times. Stupidly, that sort of lag in the first half of a season is unacceptable nowadays. But forgive me if Big Bird, Shutt, Lafleur, Savard and even the Rocket didn't have their moments of suckitude in the midst of a season themselves. The problem this time is the schedule was brutal just as a couple of key guys and another couple of serious role players got injured. That is all. Only problem is if these guys actually read the negativity of all the yammering GM wannabes in all of this.
That said, with both Kassian and Semin tanking, it behooves MB to find a decent RW to complement the line-up. Also, Tinordi and Pateryn are awesome and Subban was a bit overtaxed in Miami last night. As TFS would say: chill. It's a long season and the worst if behind us.
I can agree with a lot of what you say SinM and I have to admit you are a better person than I am watching that much bad hockey. Yes, MB has failed to shore up the right side but probably not for lack of trying. It is a good thing to check out what you have in the system with Ghetto, Carr and Big Mac getting a look but Therrien can't seem to deploy them properly. We all know he favours his vets and will ride DDD to the detriment of everyone else.
As for the worst being behind them, we shall see. I still believe there is more pain to come. The first nine games of the season were probably an aberration and we are seeing the truer version of the team, a soft, perimeter playing weak offensive push over. Price and the defence may cover up a lot of it but we are not seeing it now.
I really enjoyed the Spengler Cup final this morning, great end to end wide open hockey. I'm going to give a shout out to Canadian player Chris DiDominico the first "elite" player the Saint John Sea Dogs ever had, who played a heck of a tournament for Team Canada.
I think because since he was hurt he said his aim was to come back for this game, if he's cleared by doctors and is healthy maybe MT is giving him what he wants. I think this counts for points too? maybe that's also why MT would put him in.
I know that it does count for points but I still see it as a terrible exhibition type game set up by Buttman to help sell the game to basketball fans and the networks. With less than ideal conditions - and I know it works both ways - a divisional game is too important in today's NHL to play in this fashion. Make it a meaningless game against a Western team next time. And anyone who's ever played outside knows how quickly the ice can change...if the sun comes out...if snow happens, if it rains...sorry - I am just not a fan of this at all.
Already hearing that some Bruins have called the ice dangerous, soft and slushy in laces...sounds like a ground call at a racetrack...the going tomorrow will be firm, soft to slushy in places...adjust handicap accordingly...
Interesting retro intro montage. One would think the broons scored and won way more than the Habs. They didn't. Nice bias NHL. Also, the CH, despite the brutal at times rivalry, was forced into retaliating to broon goons. The broons will forever remain a classless and clueless organization.
I'd never wish Team Canada any ill will, but with the lead-up to this year's WJC tournament by the SFU's pumping their leaf wonderboys, well I have to chuckle a bit at the results of today's game between Canada and Sweden.
snet, always scrapping the bottom of their putrid barrel decide to highlight the forearm to Zednik and the PatCHes stanchion hit (the sick fucks actually digitally enhanced/altered the sound of the hit). SFUs forever.
Thsis is the same crew that includes that greasy fucking Karlsson's illegal check to N8's head from last yearss playfoofs in their plays of the year so it's certainly not schocking.
I thought the legends game was going to be before the real game, as well as the Canadiennes. I guess it makes more sense to do it the day before, and it's good since I can be more certain the game will really start at the time listed. Thinking I'm going to take a nap this evening and then watch the game live. It's on at 2am for me. I have nothing to do tomor...next we...next month. Might as well watch it live.
Hope 2016 starts well for all of you, and our beloved Habs as well. JUST FUCKING WIN. Oh, and yay! KidG is back!
@moe Re: your comment about the HNIC retro intro. I recently watched some HNIC intros from the playoffs the last couple of years. I swear if I didn't know any better you'd think the Lightning and broons beat the Habs 2 years ago in back-to-back series while the Rangers played a non-descript generic team only visible in the background. Then for last year I learned that both the Sens and Bolts swept the Habs out of the post-season. Literally, the only thing they showed from the first 3 games was Stone's Oscar winning performance, edited to make PK look like the Jocker playing a lumberjack. It's just so incredibly petty. Like, fine you hate Montreal and you can't hide it from your voice on broadcasts. But are you really going into the editing room and directing interns to only show footage that makes the Habs look bad? That's beyond unprofessional, that's downright mentally ill. On one hand it's hilarious the Habs have made these losers so angry, but on the other hand it's terrifying that a sport can make these jerks so obsessive compulsive. Yikes.
been enjoying your commentary Orangeman (Happy New Year to you and all FHFers), and if I didn't have both RDS and TVA Sports (Mike Bossy speaks great French) I would be just as ready to toss my cookies. I just gave up on all english options providing balanced coverage to our Habs (besides the excellent TSN 690 radio) a while back. It's like waiting for a junkie to smarten up, or for MT to realize DDD is not a First-line centre in any scenarios involving NHL competition.
I watched the Alumni game on TVA, When Kovalev scored I switched over to SNOT to see the reaction over there and as soon as I did, I heard "That's just not fair, you embarrass a 61 yr old' Seriously? I think if they could pound their fists and cry whenever the Habs get a lead, they would. Then they whine about poor ratings?
Good Morning! and Happy New Year FHFers! and I don't think it was said : Welcome to Scott in Montreal to this Fabulous Forum. Always great to have another Habs fan on board, although I kinda miss that Cornelius guy from Boston who used to post a lot at the old Four Habs Fans site.
Can our Habs pull out of their nosedive? As Red Fisher used to say: Let us pray.
GYMFHG!

ReplyDeleteHappy New Years FHFers!
ReplyDeleteI thought the legends game was going to be before the real game, as well as the Canadiennes.
Yikes.
ReplyDelete*Joker, not 'jocker', which is a totally different kind of Batman villain.
Deletebeen enjoying your commentary Orangeman (Happy New Year to you and all FHFers), and if I didn't have both RDS and TVA Sports (Mike Bossy speaks great French) I would be just as ready to toss my cookies. I just gave up on all english options providing balanced coverage to our Habs (besides the excellent TSN 690 radio) a while back. It's like waiting for a junkie to smarten up, or for MT to realize DDD is not a First-line centre in any scenarios involving NHL competition.
DeleteI watched the Alumni game on TVA, When Kovalev scored I switched over to SNOT to see the reaction over there and as soon as I did, I heard "That's just not fair, you embarrass a 61 yr old' Seriously? I think if they could pound their fists and cry whenever the Habs get a lead, they would. Then they whine about poor ratings?
DeleteGood Morning! and Happy New Year FHFers! and I don't think it was said : Welcome to Scott in Montreal to this Fabulous Forum. Always great to have another Habs fan on board, although I kinda miss that Cornelius guy from Boston who used to post a lot at the old Four Habs Fans site.
ReplyDeleteCan our Habs pull out of their nosedive? As Red Fisher used to say: Let us pray.
