Look, I don't know if you guys out there in FHF-land know what it takes to run a blog. Well maybe Steve. And Moey. And Scott in Montreal as we found out recently. But I certainly do. And I especially know what it takes to run a blog where you have got to be on the ball for 82 games a season (plus or minus 4-7 playoff games at this rate). Not to mention every Friday for 52 weeks a year. It is a ridiculous and grueling commitment. I survived four years tops before I packed it in, and I had 3-6 people helping back in the day. Let me blow your mind with some facts and figures, in TMS-style bullet point form:
- moeman wrote his first post on this iteration of FHF in October 2011. FHF Classic lasted from June 2007 to October 2011. So by my drunken count moe on his own (with the very rare concussion fill-in from me) has lasted about a year and half longer (and counting) than the original usual gang of 4-7 idiots
- There have been 1142 posts here compared to 2375 on FHF Classic, but again, we're talking one guy vs. 4-7 guys and gals
- Blogger can't seem to tell me how many of those 1142 posts are moe's. I say I have written 42, because that's The Answer, so moe has written 1100 posts on this site
- 1100 posts over the life span of this blog means moe has averaged 3.25 posts per week
- 3.25 posts per week, over five and a half years
- While he had a life and a very respectable full-time job
- While the Habs have been meh
- That's fucking insane.
So moeman, we thank you. Your dedication and work ethic knows no bounds. We may not say it enough, but your performance is the bee's knees, even while the Habs' has not been. We would be lost in the wilderness without you. Well, we're still kind of lost in the wilderness, but at least we're all lost together.
Thanks moe for another Hart blogging trophy season. Keep rocking. Keep Dreaming.

Great tribute HF29.
ReplyDeleteI also want to give thanks to you moeman. This sacred place of yours is truly very dear to my heart. I am not a surf-aholic and there are actually few sites a go to and certainly not on a daily basis.
So thank you for all the time you spend and the energy it takes to keep us all in CHeck.
I do it for the FHFriends and of course the FHFun.
DeleteJeez, you guys are up early!
ReplyDeleteI'll add my thanks to brother moe, with his dedication and work ethic he would have the Habs as Cup contenders in no time if he was GM!
I'm heading to Sussex, NB today for my first round of golf, so excited!
I'm going to give Bargain Bin one last kick before I head out. "Number 1 centers are impossible to trade for." I call bullshit on that.

Just off the top of my head.
If all you are capable of is dumpster diving for 5th line plugs you are not qualified to be a GM. Might be time to take a closer look at Trevor Timmins body of work.
the sad part is that we did not even have a good fourth line, even when gCHuck was on it.
DeleteRead this, I posted earlier so likely it was missed.
DeleteHere's what BBB said about a #1 centre. Not so good at selling the snake oil.

Thx theM. As the Habs GM, my first to do would be to hire Sara FHFull-time!
Deletenicely said HF29. Thank you moeman for giving me a place to hang out and enjoy the Habs and have fun. I always worry you will run out of content for SF but you just keep finding more incredible stuff. Also thanks to the FHF benCH for always being ready for game day.
ReplyDeleteIve cleaned out my 2016-2017 Habs locker. It can only be better next year right?
Its easy to make this team a cup contender. I wont do the math on the cap cause thats hard.
DeleteFirst offer sheet Druid $6 mill a year. MTL gets Drouin. Anything between 3.6 and 5.4 would cost Habs a 1st, and a 3rd, and anything between 5.4 and 7.3 would cost a 1st, 2nd, and a 3rd. If Bergy does not offer sheet the Druid, he should be stabbed in the cock.
2nd get Shipoff and Danyoff from Russia, promise them they can play in the Olympics, stand up to Buttman.
Thats it we have Shippoff, Patches, CHe first line. Danno Druid, Leko second Pleks, SSR, LB third McD, MitCH, Thor fourth
The D is fine.

ReplyDeleteMerci 29! Truly appreciate the kind words, pics and music.
I enjoy keeping this joint lit.
Nothing to do but echo the comments of 29. Well done sir.
ReplyDeleteAnd may I propose the primary inductees into the FHF HoF be our fearless leaders themselves, Mr moeman and Mr HabsFan29. Get the banners hung, hire a bronze sculptor and don't forget the strippers. And rumour has it 29 will be inducted with the dreaded half and half.
Have a good day all. And the M, didn't it snow in Sussex on the weekend?
I suggest we do it on 2018/4/20.
Deletethanks for all the fish

The only song Paul Simonon ever wrote - and the one that gives him some royalty cheques - was one of the Clash's best. If you only go up to the plate once, way to hit a home run, I always thought. And a well-crafted parody there, Steve. Kudos!
Deleteits an existential question for living. We all live under the yoke of the anglos. Sure its not northern Ireland during the 70's but every day the powers that be make us surrender some more dignity. In the end we are all going to have to wonder how were going to come.
DeleteGoogle City of London and you will see the heart of every conspiracy
DeleteThx Steve. Well done and one of my faves.
Delete29, I couldn't agree more!
ReplyDeleteMoeman, thank you so much for making this crushing experience of being a CH fan so FHFun all season long. I have barely blogged in the last few years, but I recall how much thankless time and effort I had to put in back then, when I was trying to build an audience. And you do a LOT more than I ever did (and way better)!
Thank God for Montreal. No other city in North America and I cant say about the world, picks the pepper out of the flyshit like Habs fans do. This cruicible of fire made 24 cups and I trust in DBMB that we will get one out of him.
ReplyDeleteMoe, long time stalker, first time commenter (I think!). Thanks for the great inspirational work (I'm looking at you Sexxy Friday!)and incredible dedication to this blog, to us stalkers, and to the Habs! We might not always like how the story ends in April or May, but we do love following along as the year unfolds. And to all the regular posters...you guys rock! There are times I shake my head at the wisdom presented, other times, wiping the tears from laughing so hard. You guys need a slogan or something....oh wait a minute....GoYouFuckingHabsGo! I want those lockers spotless!
ReplyDeleteAll good fellow/feline FHFriend.
DeleteThanks moe (yup, i'm still lurking around)!
ReplyDeleteDid I miss the rant post? WTF is the deal with "trade Carey Price"?. Some people are bat shit crazy.
The Had! I always wondered if your presence was being FHfelt!
DeleteSeeing that we live in the same city, probably like 5 minutes appart, maybe we should get some rum during the summer! I'll gladly buy!

ReplyDeleteThx Anon, always great to hear that there is some worth to this FHFucking blog.
DeleteWow. Still can't get over this spectacular and real (SWIDT!?) honour from the FHFantastic 29. Warms the cockles of my heart. One could surmise that I have no life but updating and keeping the blog going are literally part of my routine. I may be a bit formulaic in my approach and maybe don't drop as much fHFunky text but I'd like to think the content remains FHFresh. Like we have done in the past, comment contributions find there way to the main page. I'd like to return the thank yous to everyone that enjoys clicking on what we have to offer here as a FHFun and sometimes FHFucked up community. I may scale back a bit during the summer (maybe 20 instead of 30 sexy pics, blame the rum) but will be here to drop the odd fresh thread when news and shit happens. Again, I humbly accept that you like me, you really like me. Be well and as always GoYouFuckingHabsGo!

ReplyDeleteI know what I would do if I was Prime Minister of Canada today. First, I would order all oil pipelines into the USA closed. There would not be one stick of wood crossing the border. No raw materials of any kind. See Ya!
ReplyDeleteLet's see what happens when MILLIONS of Americans get laid off in the next month or so from having nothing to work with. Oh and no milk or dairy products allowed into Canada either.
Agree 100%.

DeleteHabs announce Alexei Emelin underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee today and he is facing a 4-6 week rehab.

ReplyDeleteYeah, it always felt that Montreal was the hardest team in the league to make as a rookie and even if they make it, they are benched, play very few minutes or watch from the press box to "learn". Montreal has always had a "win now" mentality no matter if their teams were absolute crap such as at the turn of the century. They would rather play veterans way past their best before date such as Ott instead of playing McCarron or Hudon. They would rather fail with vets than give a bunch of kids a chance.
DeleteI'm getting fed up with Bergevin as well. He states every failed spring that trading is hard, drafting is hard but he will stay the course of hoping that Carey Price will pitch a shut out EVERY SINGLE GAME because scoring is hard too! Fuck off Bargain Bin I'm tired of your fucking bullshit. Do us Habs fans a favour and take your clown act somewhere else. A chimp could have accomplished what you have the last 5 years. BTW, high finishing teams like Pittsburgh and Washington don't seem to have any trouble finding talent late in the 1st round. Who the fuck is Jake Guentzel? He seems to not have any trouble finding the net.
Hey Mr. Molson, maybe you could upgrade your scouting staff?
'Subban's three points set a Predators record for points in a playoff game by a defenseman.
ReplyDeleteThis after Sportsnet's Kelly Hrudey classified Subban as a "three-four type defenseman" and compared him to Dion Phaneuf. Well, Subban has sure showed him.'
'It was seven years earlier, to the day, that the NHL first got to know P.K. Subban, and appropriately enough it came in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
ReplyDeleteHe marked the anniversary the only way he knows how, by performing in the playoffs.
It was his first playoff goal in a Nashville uniform and he became the first defenseman in Predators history to get three points in a postseason game, something Weber never did in 59 playoff games over his 11-year career in Nashville.
It was Subban at his best.'
Happy anniversary PFK.
"He was strong tonight," Predators coach Peter Laviolette said. "Defensively he was a horse, but offensively, I mean, guys are always searching for offense but tonight he was able to punch his number a couple of times. He made some terrific plays, a nice shot, just a real steady game."
