R.I.P. gentlemen.
ReplyDeleteSam Sheppard - smart, talented writer
Glen Campbell - exquisite guitarist, cool cat
Jay Thomas - very funny guy both on Cheers and with Letterman
Jerry Lewis - one on my faves because I love nutty comedians
Welcome back and thanks for a new SF!
DeleteMy favourite Sam Sheppard movie is The Right Stuff with him playing Chuck Yeager.
RIP...i missed the news on Jay Thomas. Firstly saw him on Cheers...so sad.
DeleteJerry Lewis must make me French cause I loved all his movies
DeleteIt's a long weekend in the UK and the sun is actually shining so "fuck" and "yeah" ...great to have you back Moeman NOAR! Go You Fuckin Habs Go! (Just thought I would bring my newfound positive mindset to the blog)
ReplyDeleteThx boys.
ReplyDeleteDid a bit of camping and boating and BBQing and union negotiating. Three of those things are FHFun.
Legends lost and beauty found. It was one of the pleasures of my life to host a pint at the fake Cheers in Boston.
ReplyDeleteAnother great SF! Merci, moeman.
ReplyDeleteFor all those folks getting excited about the possibility of Vodkov coming back after the Olympics to join the Habs in a play-off run - just know that he has a two-year KHL contract. I presume that was a fan-driven rumour with little to no chance of being based on anything factual at all.
do not let facts stand in the way of your dream. Trump is president.
Deletewhen can we ever get a player that can pot 30 goals and not four times that strippers?
ReplyDeleteBye the time I get to Phoniex gCHuck will be in Colorado and that will be a F5 tornado of stupidity
ReplyDeleteJust like I figured, Mayweather put McGregor on the ropes and beat the snot out of him. Good payday though...

Deletewham bam thank you mam
Habs sign D Eric Gelinas to a PTO. I hope he makes it. Gotta have my former Sea Dogs quota on the team now that N8 has been shown the door. If Eric stays away from gCHuk he should have a chance.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile over at GOT, I wonder if any ladies were happy to finally see Jon Snow's bare butt?
Everybody still on vacation?
ReplyDeleteAnybody watching Salvation? Not a bad show -- killer asteroid on the way, Darius Tanz (Elon Musk) and his entourage trying to outwit the Americans and the Russians with lots of political intrigue and some lame romantic stuff. I give it a thumbs up.
ReplyDeleteYeah I like it as well. They could make it into the Kim Stanley Robinson Mars Trilogy easily.
DeleteRay Donavon has become almost unwatchable.
I think our PP will be Number one in NHL this year. If gCHuck can get his head out of his ass we could be contenders.
I've thought about watching Ray Donovan as I like Liev Schreiber but I guess I'll take a pass.
DeleteI can't get any optimism going about the Habs. When the rest of the league is going young and fast on D, Bergevin and Jabba decide they want old, slow, collapse in the middle type guys. MB is in over his head and doesn't have a consistent plan. When he was hired it was "build through the draft." Since then he has traded picks like marbles and traded away all his young mobile D. He is building the team in his image -- a journeyman 6 or 7 defenceman. Good luck Marc, you're going to need it.
But we will have the best #7 dman in the NHL
DeleteR.I.P. Walter Becker
ReplyDeletehttps://pitchfork.com/news/steely-dans-walter-becker-dead-at-67/
DeleteRIP
Delete3 episodes in to Narcos S3. Very good, especially sans Escobar.
ReplyDeleteChallenging week and even more so coming up as the tech union voted overwhelmingly to strike.
ReplyDeleteForced mediation with a Sept. 16th strike date set.
Good Luck brother. I remember those days and I honestly don't miss all that tension and worry.
DeleteThx The M. All unexpected.
DeleteHey living in the UK means that sometimes I am late to different parties. I just binge watched 6 season's of White Collar on Netflix, thinking it was new...turns out it ended in 2014...who knew. But it was very enjoyable just the same.
ReplyDeleteWell its the end of what seems like a very long 2+ weeks of vacation. I basically unplugged from the world and we spent some time at the cottage, travelling to visit my bros and just working around the house. All in all very relaxing. I did keep up on my football news as my fantasy draft is tomorrow...#1 pick! 2 years in a row I'll have David Johnson anchoring my squad. And I followed the Shapo saga even though hes a leaf fan. Watched his match yesterday and they kept paying to 3 guys with Habs tees on in the stands. One of the announcers even noted how impressive it was that Habs fans would cheer for a leaf fan. It's because we aren't that petty.
ReplyDeleteHockey? Meh.
Moeman best of luck with your work issues. I've been fortunate to avoid strikes though I've worked in government unions my entire adult life. I've been at my current job since 2001 and they striked in 1999...anybody who suffered through those 10 weeks will never vote to strike again. The general public does not care one iota if the public service strikes...we're all overpaid, lazy arses sucking on the public teet.
Hockey? Meh..not yet.
But only 3 days until my Patriots start on the way to #6!
Thx bro. Been at the Uni for 11 years, unionized for about 8 of those. I remember my dad, a labourer in a copper fitting plant, striking once. I think he was off for 17 weeks. Even way back then, mid 70s, pensions were the issue. They settled but the US-based company sold themselves, the new CDN company kept all the employees, same salary, reduced pensions. It got really weird when they sold themselves back to the original US company. I left Cambridge ON in 1979, unemployment was 22%. I think it is now something like 4%. Cambridge is a big hub for the tech services industry. Google just bought a huge chunk of real estate for new offices there.
DeleteWhen my Dad passed away in 1999, I was responsible for settling his affairs and papers. The calls I had with the company reps made my ears bleed. We had to have a lawyer fine comb the details as my Mom was being screwed out of spousal pension benefits. She got about 35% of what we thought would be 100%. The company switches played hard with the numbers. There was no existing union to help out. My father gave them almost 40 years and a chunk of his leg in a blast furnace accident.
DeleteOnce last bit. The reason I am involved is because job descriptions, although generalized, are set at a Faculty level. I fall outside the norm because I manage laboratories. I've helped and continue to write customized job descriptions. Of the 300 techs on campus, I'd figure 20% make use of them.
DeleteSteely Dan bit, ya'll know that I came up with 'Pretzel Lucic' because of one of their great songs/albums.
ReplyDeleteInteresting reads above moe. Screwing the little guy will never go out of style for big corporations. Stay strong.
ReplyDeleteBTW I saw today that Richard Anderson passed away. Oscar from 6 Million Dollar Man...not MacGyver. RIP. Made it into his 90s. Not too bad a run.
Football Baby! Go Pats!
ReplyDeleteThe M's Gmen get to play the real Cowboys with Zeke in the lineup. I'll be surprised if he misses a game this season a la Brady.
...and Go Habs.
Take the Giants for the upset in your pick'em pool.
DeleteGo Giants! Go Habs! Go Sea Dogs! Go Matt Kenseth! Go Liverpool! I think that's everybody I cheer for.
Soon be on my way to the Ricoh Centre pour le match ce soir. Bought tickets for me and my sons to see the Leaf rookie vs The Habs rookies. Should be a fun night.
ReplyDeleteexpect a full report:)
DeleteWelcome inthereds!
DeleteThanks...decided to say hello/long time reader of both incarnations of your work.
DeleteBonne Fête 29!
ReplyDelete(will crank out a SF soon)
How many ddd-like players are out there to scout???
ReplyDeleteThe SFU rhetoric is ramping up early as the Blob talks about an all Canadian Cup Final featuring McSaviour vs Awesome. Ha Ha. As if the Littlest Commissioner would allow that to happen. Dream on fucker, as Steve Tyler would say.
ReplyDeleteLast nights tilt @ the Ricoh showed the Habs have a few things to happy about. Audette can score and is dangerous from anywhere. He is not shy either. He didn't let some of the Leaf giants get in the way of giving as good as he got.
ReplyDeleteBitten played well. He is an up and down winger. Likes to get in traffic, knows how to make a play. His goal was sweet, picked the top corner glove side.
McNiven played really well. After Brook went down most of 2nd was in the Habs end and he came up big on several plays. (Lots of tic-tac-toe plays from both teams, fun to watch).
Juulsen was by far the best d-man. His positioning was good, made a good 1st pass, kept it simple. He's not very fast. But he wore the "C" and you could see the poise having that responsibility. Pazetta(?) got noticed because, in the 2nd, he took on one of the giants (looked like he gave away a good 4-5 inches) and scored a TKO. It was real bad for him at the beginning (how many str8 rights can a face take) but somehow he caught the Leaf up side the head with one of his own and stopped him cold. Otherwise I think he would have been danger of having his face broken.
Reway looked like he was easing himself into playing on the small rink. He is really smart with the puck, good anticipation of where he saw his wingers going, didn't stand out as much as I though he would though.
On a final note...Addison is lucky to be alive. Twice he got rocked, both times for being too slow, head down crossing the blue line. Hopefully opening night jitters. (Marchment's son floored him once, he's big, fast and likes to hit).
Those were the most notables for me.
Great report ITR. Welcome aboard and thank you!
Deletegreat report, in summary no Connor Mcdavids hiding on the farm.
ReplyDeleteWe are tearing ourself apart
ReplyDeleteAndrew Berkshire @AndrewBerkshire
Comparing segments of fans to a military junta org when you’re asking them to pay for content seems… unwise.
Brian Wilde @BWildeRecrutes · 20 minutes ago
Andrew, you are one of the greatest disappointments of my professional life. The time/energy/dedication shown to you. Shamefully ungrateful.
Berkshire is a pompous ass. And that's my polite description.
DeleteGO GIANTS! BOOOOO Cowboys......
ReplyDeletegCHuck wont be playing center. In Kremlin talk that gCHuck will be in Siberia before the season ends. His days are numbered.
ReplyDeleteAndrei Markov - P.K. Subban
ReplyDeleteAlexei Emelin - Tom Gilbert
Nathan Beaulieu - Mike Weaver
Davis Drewiske
With Jared Tinordi and Greg Pateryn waiting in the wings for their shot.
MB has certainly put his stamp on the team, for better or worse.
I came across this last night. The 2014 starting lineup on defense.
DeleteBBQ, Alzner and Dish are better than Vodkov, PFK and (Y), but its close, the supporting cast now should be much better
DeleteI've read this new guy, Lotsa Capspace, is going to lead them to the promised land.
ReplyDeletegCHuck for Traves take it to the bank
DeleteTFS is going to do that ('the plan'). This new guy is just a bonus for Molson.
Delete8.5 million for Tavaris.
DeleteBet on it
Go Habs
I see MB says that the sCHlemiel might play with BBQ. What a sCHlimazel! Molson should change his company name to Hasenpfeffer Incorporated.
ReplyDeleteThat pairing is really making our dreams come true.
DeleteHeh. Good one!
DeleteThanks. I thought it was inspired. Maybe we'll get a Laverne and Shirley themed Sexy Friday featuring the Big Ragu.
DeleteRIP Franks Vincent - Phil Leotardi from the Sopranos...the only mobster to be run over by his own SUV...WHADDYAGONNDO
ReplyDeleteFrankie Vincent...
Deletewe have diversity so we can sue for the cup
ReplyDeleteHey k3x I have a couple of buddies using DAZN to watch NFL and say it is fantastic. Its legit and $20/month. Apparently they have the rights to the NHL in Europe. Likewise we in Canada can watch KHL if we want to watch Vodkov play. They basically don't have rights where blackouts are a thing. Just a thought if youre looking for options.
ReplyDeleteif you pay to watch the terrorists win, they hate free dom

ReplyDeleteThanks St. Pad. I will look into it. I use MOBDRO app but it is sketchy at times so all help appreciated. Cheers!
