Update on the strike/lockout situation; the university stepped away from the negotiations. Strike vote was 86% for. Today is suppose to be the last day of work.
ReplyDeleteStay strong and united! What Billy Bragg sang (and has said again and again and again...)
DeleteThere is Power in a Union
Nice SF too!!!
Back with avengence Moeman! NOAR! Sorry to hear about the strike. Good luck with that.Training camp starts today! Woo Hoo! Go Habs Go!!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back moeman! Been a long hot summer. Moving day for the Maritimers. Downsizing and purging has been quite an experience. Gonna be good in the end.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to friend moe with his work situation. Good luck to JD and gCHuk, hope they can find and carry that torch.
Woot! SF is back. Sorry to hear about the news moe. Hopefully I can help you drown your sorrows at BDT when I'm in town :). Turns out I'm staying at the Crown Plaza (sounds fancy) just down the road, so i'll be walking! Maybe i'll get to try all of their flavours.
ReplyDeleteTraining Camp! It's starting to get real. Wilde is still thinking MB might pull the trigger on a Duchene deal. Wonder if Sakic has lowered the price for a guy scoring at a 0.67 ppg pace over the past 3 years (that would be a 54 point season over 82 games). If not, no thanks.
CHeers.
On another note, RIP to Grant Hart (ex HÜSKER DÜ drummer/singer/songwriting mentor of mine and many more)
ReplyDeleteFor those unaware: Flexible Flyer, and Green Eyes, and Sorry Somehow and especially (another Arrogant Fuckface tribute? So far ahead of his time, lol) Don't Want to Know if You're Lonely"
Thanks FHFolks.
ReplyDeleteBlogger 'Reply' seems to be acting up.
Love Bragg.
BDT has a beer clock, you/we can sample 12 kinds.
http://www.brasseursdutemps.com/beers/our-full-range/
Surprisingly wasn't a big HÜSKER DÜ fan but they are very good.
I've put my downsizing option on hold but looking to scale down from home>condo-ish scenario.
NOAR!
R.I.P. Harry Dean Stanton.
ReplyDeleteHe was 91. Good innings. RIP
DeleteParis, Texas! Repo Man!!! And the best one-liner in the Avengers: (to Bruce Banner): "I think you have a condition." RIP indeed
DeleteFuck the Man sexy Friday! The boys are back. lets go CH, JJCH, and Druid (jumping Jack CHeck Hab)
ReplyDeleteSo what'd I miss besides you guys?
ReplyDeleteMB has a lot of money to spend but no suitors so far. Other than that, not much.
DeleteGlad to see the gang back after a long hot summer.
Thanks the M. Not much of a summer for me, feuds left and right with the new owner where I live. They converted from oil to electric heating and lo and behold the heating magically ended up on my meter but my heating is included. In May before they converted, they told me I would have to pay my own heat and I said no, it's your responsibility. Once the work was done, I spoke to the electrician, realized what they did. Hydro Qc says if it's on my bill, I'm responsible to pay but I know they aren't allowed to arbitrarily change the terms of the lease willy-nilly so that's still an issue. Plus, I was told verbally the owner was re-possessing my flat. Mind games, they thought I would be a push-over. Previous owner lived below me - they haven't left yet and were supposed to be gone already so the new owner could take that place but rather have me out since I've been here 24 years and my place would fetch a higher rent than I pay now. In addition, I was left to stare at 5 rooms of gyprock and plaster as a new decor. I know I don't need that much space for myself, but I moved in here with my kids when they were little and once they were gone, after a while I though about getting something smaller but the rents seemed to have just gone through the roof, so I stayed. I've been stressed to my limits. Thank the Hockey Gods I'll have something else to take my mind off of things a little and that was the summer of juce. On the bright side, I'll be a grandmother for the first time, the stork should be arriving end of October. My son is as proud as a peacock.
DeleteI actually thought they would just cancel this season altogether since the leaf are winning the Cup, or so I've heard.
A lot of good MB's money will do sitting on a shelf and I see AF will do some scouting, says TFS hit a wall and maybe he's sorry about throwing PK under the bus but still takes credit for him winning the Norris.
Sorry to hear about your travails, I hope things work out for you. Congrats on becoming a grandmother!
DeleteAF is consistent, he would never take the blame for anything. I saw an article about what he was going to be doing but wouldn't waste my time reading about that prick.
Condolences juce, I hope this landlord situation gets settled for you quickly. Life it way way to short for that kind of shit. Head up - positive vibes.
DeleteCongrats grandma.
DeleteSorry about work moe. I think you get a stipend when mandatory picketing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Juce.
DeleteMy Kodi android box went screwy, something to do with TVaddons.ag going down to the man. So installed http://ares-repo.eu/ and all is well for now. Apparently Mygica box will not accept lollypop and Kodi 17.1 needs it. So I may be into a new box if as threatened Kodi goes all html in a way you need lollypop. Funny my Kodi 14.1 windows just keeps chugging without error.
ReplyDeleteHockey wise from the scrimmage it looks like CH is a lock, JJCH is a lock, gCHuck is happy, and we can plan the parade.
*cough* Terrarium TV *cough*
DeleteGot me a Firestick from Amazon and it works pretty sweetly with Kodi - but there are serious hiccups for popular streams, so...
Deletethanks M, I will try it. Primewire just went down. Ares seems to work fine with exodus
ReplyDelete"The University of Ottawa and the Information Technology Professionals (ITPUO) have agreed to delay the date on which either a strike or a lockout can take place until midnight on Friday, September 22. The University and the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC), which represents ITPUO members, have also agreed to meet on Wednesday, September 20, to resume talks and try to reach a tentative agreement."
ReplyDeletePeace out!
DeleteNow that Lupul called out leaf management as being cheaters with the cap I guess they won``t be extending his contract.
ReplyDeleteSo...in my newfound determination to remain upbeat I have been reading as much as I can about what is going on in training camp and from what I read, it all sounds pretty positive. (I have forgotten a lot of the nicknames in the off season so excuse my use of actual names in some cases) This kid Mete sounds pretty good, even though he will probably start in Laval. The Habs appear to have a lot of D men kicking around as they try to replace Vodkov. Also, it does look like Hudon will make the show out of camp (after 2 days and 1 scrimmage anyway). Benn looked solid, Pleks scored a goal (so that must be a good thing). Brian Wilde is concerned about Andrew Shaw's last concussion, which is something we, as Habs fans should worry about as well, given the style he plays. Drouin looks like the real deal and I think that he will defo give us something to smile about this season. Same goes for Letkonen - I see him getting 25 goals this season btw - and everyone has been pretty positive about the way Julien runs training camp. Big McCarron has grown and shrunk at the same time (lighter but taller) and apparently - faster! One player who didn't impress apparently was Mark Streit but Joe Morrow did and he is someone I am very interested in following. Also, Charlie Lindgren is, apparently, the best shootout goalie the Habs have had in 100 years! So it's all looking positive. Which is a good thing...'cause it's a long season! Go You Fucking Habs Go!
ReplyDeleteK3x to the max, Mete has to go back to jr he is only 19. I think its a bit of PR to make us forget about PFK and CHevy. Otherwise I share your optomism. emty would not have won the cup with the 71 Canadiens. CJV2 is our saviour. We have lost some stellar individuals but may have gained a team.
Deletesuggest nick for Mete, Louis after the Reil. I know he is not Metis, but as a small man in a big game will face large prejudiced.
DeleteRIP tvaddons.ag. Who knew it was a Montreal creation?
ReplyDelete"My father left me with a list of instructions before he passed: 'Put me in a pine box next to my mother and father. Have a small memorial for close friends and family in Los Angeles…and if you want a public event do it in Montreal,'" said Adam Cohen in a news release.
ReplyDeleteCohen's love affair with Montreal has been well-documented. He grew up in Westmount and had a home in the city's Plateau neighbourhood until he died.

Looking forward to Star Trek Discovery.
ReplyDeleteGood luck moe, maybe common sense will prevail. Always lots of posturing in labour negotiations.
Thanks theM. Big day mañana.
DeleteNot a bad team if Druid and JJCH are ready for prime time
ReplyDeletePatch-Drouin-Lehkonen

Quote of the Day
ReplyDelete"I really love Noah Juulsen for no explicable reason, so be prepared for him to be yo-yo-ed between the AHL and NHL for a few years, before being traded for a third round pick when he's in his mid 20s. I'm not at all bitter."
Wow that was quick. The Druid already asking for a trade, what was he thinking big donating to a Hospital
ReplyDeleteTuned in briefly from the Reddit stream. Perfect quality. i think it was ustreams.
ReplyDeleteOnly problem is I couldn't rotate the Reddit app on my tablet, but one could probably also just watch through reddit.com A friend in the office says the streams are always top notch. Just search "Watch NHL streams" in reddit. options. And if Bell continues to piss me off, i may grab the cable cutters myself and join you.
I watched the rds stream on a YouTube channel from a guy named hockeybeast . Caught a lot of games with his stream last season too. Perfect feed. Watched firzt period only. This new face off penalty is going to be fun...
DeleteKosher pot just in time for Rosh Hashanah.
ReplyDeleteCHud may be a winner. Who knew? Hopefully Jabba will give him a shot.
ReplyDeleteI love the Vegas Golden Knights twitter feed, they are by far the best! They're chirping the Hsbs now, too funny!
ReplyDeletethe rents too damm high Granny:) congrats
ReplyDeleteHemsky is the Bonhomie Mexicant, brutal. CH rookie of the year, JJCH solid, Scheerback back to the USSR forgetabouthymn.
ReplyDeleteI've got a feeling the new "defence"is going to be bad. All these has-beens and wannabes that MB has accumulated, why not play the young guys like Mete and Juulsen, get them NHL experience with Jabba. Send the Shleprocks and Jerkoffs to Sly the Fever, he can't ruin what's already broken.
ReplyDeleteI am going to agree with you The M - I watched some of the game last night and from what I saw, Mete is ready to go. I liked his work rate. Streit - not so much! Slow, lazy - not very impressive at all. Hudon is a lock I would have thought - and he looked pretty good. TFS didn't have much chance on the second goal - I think Martinson or Davidson tipped it in - but if you were to put either of them on waivers with a view to sending the to Laval, I'm pretty sure no one would waste their time claiming them. The only "oldie" I'd like to see make it is Morrow - I think he can be an effective player for the Habs.
DeleteThanks K3X, I'd rather watch the kids play than all these mediocre plugs. By all accounts Streit is really slow, slower than Markov and the NHL is all about speed. I think the young forwards will do fine, might as well have a few speedsters on D, this Mete kid might do OK with the right coaching. He's probably going back to London with Dale Hunter which will be better than Laval. I hope he gets 5 or 6 games with Julien.
DeleteAh yes...forgot he is only 19 - so back to Jr. It will be interesting to see him again tonight. Not really sure what the attraction with Streit is - PP specialist? And that's another thing. last night was really a hard watch - all these penalty calls - mostly cheap little nothing taps or hooks really fuck up the flow of the game. I will be glad when they get back to proper reffing and let the boys play.
DeletegCHuck still in a funk, oy oy oy
ReplyDeleteNow that 29 is staring in the paper CHase I expect we will not hear from him, in todays world being transparent is not prudent. Some snowflake could be triggered by SF.
ReplyDelete29 is MIA because he heard about the Kosher pot.
ReplyDeleteHappy Rosh Hashanna.
Get used to a slow D. DGMB likely cooked up that horse race to fool some of the blind faithful.
ReplyDeleteHe has created a D in his own image...slow and plodding - mostly useful but not spectacular, some flashes of brilliance but more often than not, costly lapses of concentration at the worst possible time...
Delete(and I know I said I was being positive this year - so this is a good thing. After all, We have TFS to save us all!
Another reason why he doesn't want this guy around.
Deletehttp://montrealgazette.com/sports/hockey/nhl/montreal-canadiens/former-canadiens-great-larry-robinson-joins-blues-as-a-consultant
It's so hard to stay positive when you see the players they lost, mis-managed and nothing in the cupboard. Some of his moves just leave you scratCHing your head.
Crazy week.
ReplyDelete"UOITP Negotiations Update
As of 5:15 PM, UOITP and the University came to a tentative agreement with regards to bargaining negotiations.
Details to follow."
That's a good thing right...?
ReplyDeleteYep.
ReplyDeleteLike I said, always lots of posturing until the last minute. I'm glad (for you) it's all over.
DeleteRegarding Les Habitants, I have no expectations. I didn't see where they improved any, Radulov vs Drouin, I guess we'll see but I expect even less scoring and a worse defence. I don't see how it adds up Mr. Bergevin, but, whatever.
StaCHe doled out his first suspension. Opah!
ReplyDeleteviolent gentleman hopes he gives the shaft to the guys who will not drop the gloves.
DeleteIf you did not know it already he has a IQ like Steven Hawingings punched in the face a few thousand times, still off the charts.
I sure did, a Princeton guy.
DeleteTo Mario Lemieux,
ReplyDeleteYou can do better.
Rescind your team's attending a WH congratulatory event.
moe
I am afraid I have to disagree here Moeman. The White house has hosted the Stanley Cup winners for more years than I care to look up. Why would that stop just because some people don't like the current president? Some people didn't like GWB and some didn't like Bill Clinton...didnt stop them from going...all this left vs. Right is really getting carried away. Can't we all just get along?
DeleteNo worries here.
DeleteOnce in a while I drop some societal opinion, all are welcome to do so.
... Except Bryian Burk ...
Steelers stunk.
DeleteGiants are rotten.
DeleteAnother point credited to the Rocket. Makes you wonder about about transcribing errors from game stats to NHL record books.
ReplyDeleteBack at work this AM and lunching with St. Pad!
ReplyDelete? What sticks in my head is when Magnus Nygren went back home after his brief AHL stint and gave a Swedish-language interview just tearing the organization apart — bad coaching, bad attitudes among the players, and so on. Then last year Max Friberg left and, on the way out, talked about the failure of the coaches there to develop players, which is why he decided to leave.
ReplyDeleteFriberg was the team’s captain. Nygren had 18 points in 31 games and was one of the Swedish league’s top defensemen. These are good hockey players and, by all indications, pretty solid human beings. Something seems to be rotten in our AHL club."
There is, and has been, something rotten in the state of Denmark (Habs organization) for a long time, even before Bergevin and Fuckface. A player like Galchenyuk should be thriving by now and PK should never have been traded. The young players in the system are either stalled out or falling in status. Beaulieu for a 3rd round pick is a fucking disgrace. I don't know if it's Molson or something else but there is something wrong with the whole organization.
DeleteThe Druid has a gasping CHest wound, listed day to day.
ReplyDeleteI have been binging The Last Ship. I want me an arliegh burke class missile destroyer for the Apocalypse. Cool factoid, they have tim hortons coffee in the mess.
ReplyDeleteExpect an apocalypse tonite
It was a pleasure and honour to meet our fearless leader moeman and enjoy a couple of cold ones with him during lunch at BDT in Gatineau. A real gentleman as you might have guessed. Enjoying my first visit to the Capital and playing tourist while Mrs Paddy conferences. But its hotter than the hubs of hell here. When I booked this I saw myself trekking all over Ottawa, but I can only walk about 2 clicks before I need to head back to the hotel for a shower. As I type this at 4pm, it is 36 degrees outside. Mrs pad just let me know shes staying at the conference for dinner. I might head back to BDT for my supper...they have about 6 more flavours I'd like to try. Or maybe I'll look for an ice cream shop, my other great weakness.
ReplyDeleteLet me know when real hockey starts.
Having met moe in person myself, I concur!
DeleteYep, FHFantastic lunch and pretty good beer too. Great meeting you St. Pad.
Delete29 is a gentleman and a sCHolar (SWIDT?)
DeleteHaving never met either our fearless leader Moeman or the past internet lawyer representative of that genre that have an interest in anything except understanding the internet. History here and there and everywhere we are talking about historic Mensch.
DeleteI swore I would not show up until the Habs won a pre-season game, but this is not working out well.
ReplyDeleteJust a quick early morning pop in to say hiya kids! I am alive, I'll be around not to worry
Hey Vingt-neuf...how's the teaching gig working out for ya?
DeleteDont fear the collapse, acknowledge it. CHill the pre season my asp. A sock hung from the crossbar would have been more effective than our defence. The whole team was magic, invisible. I never even saw the Druid, he was climbing trees or something.
DeleteHe's alive!
DeleteI think we are going to have many opportunities this winter to bash Bargain Bin Bergy...
ReplyDeleteI am thinking about bullet proof and now we fear the worse. Les Habitats are not winning the cup unitill the cup is won in Venus. The narrative now is all COTU. Montreal will cease to exist for the next ten years known in history having a great goalie, a regular season underpaid sniper, a man mountian who any winning team is going ride, then we got all kinds of burnt Radulov.
ReplyDeleteAsking Babba the Hut to win the cup is like asking gCHuck to play hockey FFS. Its hockey, its not even football.
ReplyDelete@K3X - my students fucking love me. Was there ever any doubt? But it's a lot of work. But me ego likes the prestige. All in all, I'm happy
ReplyDeleteMy term paper for you would be: The Internet ate my homework. Now what the fuck do we all do?
Deleteif I was in your class I would blame the Russians for all my cognitive difficulties.
DeleteI missed the news that you're teaCHing. Why wouldn't they love you?
DeleteJuce, see the movies Paper Chase and sub McGill for Harvard, and the old mean guy for 29
DeleteI've seen and read little on the Habs this pre-season. Speaking of seasoning, I have read enough to see that ol' BBB has ordered CJ2.0 to throw some Meat on the BBQ. Hoping to put a little CHar on a d-pairing to make us forget about CHevy. But it's all just smoke. No mirrors though. BBB likes to keep all of the mirrors for himself.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Meté, rather than a simple Meat nick, we could always go with Muff (or I like Muffy) - http://www.foodnetwork.ca/recipe/montreal-muffulette-sandwich/18642/
Or Smokey for a nick. As in Smoked Meat.
DeleteI am for keeping the kid, I like CHar. Last 19 yr old to make the d, Peter Svoda. So far he has been the best dman. I dont see why he could not be kept up for the year, play protected games maybe forty, and protected mins, mostly PP and offensive zone starts? I dont think a third year of Jr does anything to elevate a player who is as good as Mete or CHevy.
DeleteUnder its a blessing not a curse I got fired from my call center job today. Basically I answered the call but spent too much time holding on, hoping the call would just go away.
ReplyDeleteRIP Hugh Hefner a true legend, a God of Hendonism
ReplyDeleteIn other news Marlies beat the Habs
Wow, R.I.P.
DeleteWith their 0-6 pre-season record, I see the Habs have finally figured out how to get featured on the main page of TSN.
ReplyDeleteThey are going to be the talk of the town shortly... and not in a good way.
DeleteJust went from Kodi 14.1 to 17.4. Its like going from Widows xp to windows 10. Got Ares Repo and all is in ordung. Still need to find pro sports my go to for NHL games.
ReplyDelete"Ordung"? Is that anything like yak dung? :)
Deleteit means everything is in order, sometimes a phrase can capture a culture, like hows it going EH! for Canadians, and some things just need killing for Americans.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of killing, I suspect mitCH will be a victim. JDR will take his place. I agree with Bargin Bin, TFS is getting $10 mill a year, he does not need no stinking defence.
I still think we have a better team than last year. Our PP is going to make the urologist look one dimensional.
'I still think we have a better team than last year' So does BBB.
ReplyDeletePatCHes is Mexican? Who knew.
ReplyDeleteSoni have read a couple of stories now abkut how the Habs are interested in Chris Neil. Firstly they were stories started by that bastion of hockey knowledge Njck Kyprios. So that's all you need to know. He's a fucking douche who hates the Habs so stirring shit makes him hard and pleases the scum that live in tranna. Pretty sure it won't happen...
