I poached this to illustrate my point that those who choose to ignore history are doomed to repeat it. Just like all those Tank Battles.
And just for the record, I'm not cheering for the Habs to lose. I'm cheering for many, many empty seats at the Bell Center for the rest of the season. Molson deserves a kick to the nuts for letting this train wreck go on as long as it has.
If we win tonite any CHance of a 5th pick is lost. Its a big deal because the consensus is after 5 no sure NHL players. However we would have to really blow it to rise higher than 6.
Does anyone not think gCHuck at center would have been far better than the Drouid? I am happy with the Druid, gCHuck, Mango, Leko, KidA, CHud and at this point why not keep Patches to help next years tank.
I either fell asleep or was staying up on current events viewing Stormy video. NEWSFLASH KidA gets #29 so 30 is a gimme. Congrats to the little ball of hate that smiles. Quite an accomplishment on this team, if he played for the leaf he would have 300 goals for sure.
Congrats to kidG on hitting 30 goals. I couldn't even name his center that's how little I've been paying attention. I guess he just made Max expendable. The only bad thing is his giving the stupid GM more false hope that his team is still good. Check the standings though and they show a different picture.
Quite CHeeky of me I admit as I live in Ontario where everyroad is smooth as glass and every house has a subway stop just beyond the driveway. But it is exciting to see GM who does not build trucks in Canada has a vehicle made for driving in Montreal.
Seriously my daughter went to McGill so for 4 years I made many treks there. The 401 at the Quebec border became a Afgasistain simutlation without the IED.
The biggest differance between Ontario and Quebec is that everyone knows who runs the roads in Quebec and in Ontario they still think its the goverment.
"Be extremely subtle, even to the point of formlessness. Be extremely mysterious, even to the point of soundlessness. Thereby you can be the director of the opponent's fate."
from the art of war, which translated into French unfortunately became the Culture of Tanking.
The best part of this evening is that no players on either side are likely to be shot, for any reason. We do have assisted suicide in Canada, so Alzimer might want to dress ballistic.
This has been a Trump like season. The curtain has been pulled back and in the highchair is a clown. How long before Mr Molson declares war on Labatts?
People stop watCHing now. The center for disease control has mandated that the Habs spear all the dead things in the head to prevent further infection.
Schoking news. I am breaking big geopolitical stuff here. Putin influenced the election of Patches. Thats why the team was purged of Russians last year.
gCHuck says I want to play in LA next year they have better fixers and no one cares about hockey players until they marry playboy models. Have you seen the numbers, playboy models can not resist hockey players. I tell them I have skates and they are all like can I see your rink.
cold skin, thats what attracks hot women to hockey players. If you like weird historical adventure movies this is for you. Also if you have sexual feeling for fish.
It shouldn't be too hard, theoretically, to move up a couple spots in the draft with Max potentially on the block and all those second rounders. I would hang on to #67 personally but that's just me.
Can I ask for some help from you guys/gals please? I am trying to understand the reasoning behind what I keep reading in posts from the likes of Arpon and Brian and Mitch and Stu - the guys who follow the Habs all the time - they are all in on the "trade Patches" model. I appreciate that he had some value before the trade deadline as a year and a half rental - but, you know, trades are hard, so that never happened. So what value would there be in trading Patches in the off-season - especially given that no one will see him skate on his busted up knee/leg/foot (whatever it was he hurt)before the start of camp next season. Would it not be a smart move (I know - I am giving a certain someone waaaaay too much credit here) to keep him on the very slight off chance that the "re-tool" actually yields some results and the Habs are in the thick of things this time next year? If they are not, and the re-tool is a full out overhaul, then try trading him to someone who needs a rental next trade deadline...or am I being too simplistic in my thought process?
Most of the anglo media are in for a rebuild but bargainbin insists it's not necessary. There seems to be conflicting stories as to whether Max wants to stay or go. As I said, you may as well hang on to him unless some super duper offer comes from nowhere for either a potential No. 1 center or a LH shot PMD but, as we've been told numerous times, nobody trades those types of players unless your name is Marc.
If they do trade Max, I'd try to sign JVR and Bozak as UFAs. Bozak would be a decent No. 2 center and JVR would replace Max and be a slight upgrade as he (JVR) is actually willing to stand in front of the net unlike Max who prefers the perimeter.
There's no doubt there will be interesting times ahead once this wretched season is over.
PatCHes purportedly asked to be traded a few weeks ago when the season was all gone to pot, and some trolls were posting disgustingly hateful stuff about him that could pass for the current NRA assholes' obscenities towards Emma Gonzalez et al. I think he maybe is on the fence however, and has certainly adopted Montreal wholeheartedly (a relatively short drive to his Connecticut birthplace, unlike, say, San Jose). He is a wishy-washy guy, it seems, and rather sentimental, so I wouldn't bet on him being traded, necessarily.
"I got hit in the first game in Buffalo I think and there was a fracture of some sort. I don’t think we found it right away... "I think constantly playing on it made it worse."
Thank you again, Canadiens crack trainers/medical team! Now send TFS out to play with a concussion again too, why doncha? -_-
I think the MTL Anglo media is following the SFU-mandated yipping of 'the Habs need a full rebuild, because leaf'.
I think dgmb has made some mistakes, some big, some smaller but still negatively impacting our team's season.
I don't follow the idea of a full tear-down as I believe there are great pieces in place, including TFS, BBQ, Patches, KidA and a few very good young players.
The Franco media is surprisingly quiet in their determination. They offer next to nothing and both dgmb and Geoff know this and are buying time.
Including injuries, a lot has gone wrong this season. The biggest issue is they just can't score (FFS). This is what makes it so hard to watch. Bad plays from the blue line out, shit passes, lack of coordinated play in the O zone. The D zone is a shitfest.
I'll have more to say (because I'll have time with no playoffs to watch) but I say hang onto Patches going into next season. As much as I agree that KidA deserves it, the Habs don't strip the 'C' off of their Captains.
We've witnessed a collective shitshow. The majority of the blame goes to dgmb. I'd rather he step aside. I don't see it happening.
Did I mention no playoffs for me? Well, if PFK goes up against Sergy in the Finals, I very likely click in. Bonus, it'll make dgmb sweat in his nicely tailored suit.
Crossing fingers and toes for a very high draft pick (because true rebuilds need it to be successful).
Great comments everyone, enjoyed them all. I am so happy for KidA getting to 30, he earned every single one of them. Heard someone say he now has as many goals as he does screws in his hand. I also think they should keep PatCHes. Even with the bad season, he still ranks among the top scorers since 2010 if memory serves. The media just likes to shit on players 'cause TATG. We all saw how gCHyuk was ripped by the team and the media playing centre. When it comes to Drouin, the French media are more forgiving. They don't give him glowing reports but say he's just got too much pressure on him as a Francophone playing for Montreal both from himself and the management.
I also heard them (AC) say that he told management that if they want him at centre he won't do it if they play him a few games, put him on the wing then back at centre etc... He told them if he starts there he has to stay there.
I'm going to get into a hockey pool and maybe that will motivate me to watch some games. I went to an NHL All-Star Alumni game last night, got to speak briefly with Knuckles Nilan and Raymond Bourque. Knuckles signed his book "Fighting Back" and I got a couple of pucks signed by Bourque for a friend of mine. Ray is a really nice guy. I told him I was a Habs fan and he said "So was I growing up. They used to have parades and win Cups back to back to back...".

So lots of BIG NEWS kids - the leaf hit a franchise record of 46 wins - last of the 31 teams to hit that in one season - even Vegas did it before the leaf and the leaf had a 100 year head start! But they are all patting themselves on the back because, you know, the parade route is already planned out. But I came across this stat which is a pretty interesting one to throw at any leaf acquaintances who will undoubtedly be prone to shouting these days...
Leafs fwds under 26: 1 with 30 goals 2 w/ 18+ goals 5 w/ 10+ goals 4 w/ 30+ points
Habs fwds under 26: 1 with 30 goals 2 w/ 18+ goals 5 w/ 10+ goals 4 w/ 30+ points
