And our second Canadian national anthem out to all those whose jobs and livelihood depend on the continuation of NAFTA, under whatever rubric the Mango Monster needs to call it to feed his sick and twisted ego. When you're In a Big Country, your dreams stay with you, after all.
Hey Scott! Great choice for a second anthem. Although I'm not a big fan of '80's music, there were a few gems to be found, like Big Country. Those guys appealed to my Celtic roots, I have that album on vinyl as well.
Regarding the War of 1812, we have a fort still standing and undergoing renovations currently in west Saint John called Martello Tower built specifically to defend Saint John harbour from those dastardly Yanks. Nowadays we have boatloads of them arriving daily on the cruise ships. Times change, eh?
Big Country video was great, check out the fans dancing on stage, today they would be jail.
My recollections of the war of 1812 are imperfect. Seems to me a bunch of University of Toronto Students and their professor basically stopped the first invading force.
I'm not looking forward to Game 1 against the leaf. I fully expect bergevin's defence to be slaughtered and the SFUckers to be salivating and whacking themselves off. Carey will be breaking a few of his expensive sticks over the crossbar this year. Not even he can keep his cool that long.
Not looking forward to any games right now The M...TFS looks decidedly like he did to start last season. I have no confidence left that he can stop any team from scoring at will if they are allowed to pass it around a bit... next to so with next to no Defence in front of him, Habs are in for a lot of pain...and shutout I fear...
I guess the C on the BBQ is apt enough. KidA is still the Number 1(B) C ...I guess. On the ice and in the room, I have no doubt BBQ is a stellar choice. But while he heals up, will he learn a bit of french? Maybe join the Toastmasters? Cuz les médiots ici vont lui presser beaucoups pour chacque petit erreur vu par ces co-équipiers, tabarnouche.
They will never defer to him in the french media here.
We got another number 7/8 d man to tryout Kulak, does not even need a nic. But how about ARB, these are OZ made 12/24 coolers. By my count we now have about 25 7/8 dman on our 50 man limited roster.
So not a single sn hack chose their leaf to win it all. You think they will not not shut up about them 24/7/365?
Go Jets!
Stanley Cup Winner John Shannon: San Jose Elliotte Friedman: Winnipeg Jeff Marek: Winnipeg Chris Johnston: Winnipeg Mark Spector: Winnipeg Iain MacIntyre: San Jose Gord Stellick: San Jose Eric Francis: Tampa Bay Caroline Cameron: Winnipeg Kristina Rutherford: Winnipeg Luke Fox: Tampa Bay Eric Engels: Tampa Bay Rory Boylen: Winnipeg Nick Kypreos: St. Louis David Amber: Winnipeg
Same thing happened down here, Brian Gallant got a little too cocky and the people had enough of his tax, tax and more tax. He won't even admit he lost!
I'm just watching the results on CBC News Network, one positive is it sounds like these CAQ dudes aren't interested in separating. That would be a breath of fresh air.
Couillard's Libs actually lived up to their platform.
Bit the bullet early on, started to cut back where taxes hurt most and were pro-immigration but never tied themselves to more liberal positions like from Ottawa.
The biggest joke about CONservatives is that 'business' people can lead better. Yeah, sure.
FWIW, never taking another Air Transat flight again. Had no (real) idea legault owned that joint.
Funny how he flew people to poor Caribbean countries, profited and now disparages immigrants looking to better themselves.
CAQs know that separation is a lost cause. That isn't to say they won't make it more difficult for Anglophones in Quebec. I hope they try and force 'the internet' to be fully bilingual. Use a bigger font eh? FUCK OFF!
I live in the heart of Québec-Solidaire territory, and they are radically left-wing but separatists as well. I voted Green, knowing the per-vote subsidy law will boost their coffers a tick.
How to win one's Fantasy Football league? Have Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce on your team. I might be a Pats fan, but man oh man is KC fun to watch! He escaped a rush and threw a pass for first down with his wrong hand last night. Kid is crazy good.
And congrats to Quebec on getting CAQ'd. I assumed from the 2 minutes of coverage I watched that Legault was basically a French Ford. Or a Peugeot if you will.
You know all the SN 'insiders' and 'experts' that picked Winnipeg, SJ and TB to win the cup all got together ahead of time and said "no jinxes on the leafs, so don't pick them to win since we never get this shit right!" But they are all just giddy with excitement on the inside, ready to explode all over your television sets in June when their team wins the cup.
Pretty sure your theory about the hacks and their leaf is spot on.
I've voted Conservative most of my life, I was influenced by the fact the Conservative Party at the time was led by fellow bluenoser Robert L. Stanfield. I still say the present-day Conservative Party of Canada should have been led by Peter McKay but he got bushwacked by Harper. I know Harper was hated by the Left but he was a good PM, unfortunately he had the personality of a used dish rag.
I'm not a political beast by any means, but I've leaned Liberal my entire life as that what my family was. You will find pros and cons in every leader. Most leaders. The Tangerine Wankmaggot is rather low on pros imho. Provincially however, I have voted Orange in the past once and most recently Blue, based solely on the candidates rather than what the parties lie about during their campaign.
I think I may go Green the next election, federally or provincially. Justin got my vote last time, I held my nose while I did it. I have no idea who Andrew Scheer is so no interest there. Tree hugging it is...
Good on Engles for hanging in the dumpster with BB and asking some tough questions. There is a Flames fan here at work who assures me that we will be very pleased with BB's latest acquisition Brett Kulak. Says he was actually worthy of Top 4 pairing in Calgary last year and should push for a job on the back end in Montreal. I told him that we would throw Alzner into the deal as a show of good faith but he declined.
The dumpster diver shoveled a lot of crap in that interview. He basically threw Max, gCHuk and maybe even Price under the bus to cover up all his major fuck-ups. OK, I wouldn't have signed CHe for 8 years either, but his bullshit negotiation tactics with life long Hab Markov was inexcusable.
You could take the #7 D off a lot of teams and it would be an improvement over Benn, Karlzner and Schlo-mo. I do have hopes Mete and Juulson will pan out but they are both very, very young and shouldn't be in the position they are in. Weber will help one of them but they are going to get beat up a lot in the short term.
I just looked at the schedule, yikes, anybody see more than one win in the first 10 games? Maybe a couple of OT losses but that's about it. Hopefully the young forwards will put some put some excitement into the games.
NOAR Moeman...NOAR. Now Go You Fucking Habs Go!
ReplyDeleteThanKXXX!
DeleteHope you had a fab summer.
A slight chill in the air here.
Spent the better part of the day making some ketCHupney.
Yesterday was atke the basil bush and pulverize it into some pesto.
Three different nuts used, pine, almond, wal.
Hockey-wise, not sure what to expect but hope to be Zen about the season, have some FHFun and continue to rip the vile SFU.
Oh, also, best efforts will be made to live up to the NOAR.
G Y F H G !
Some season worthy ends in the beginning of the end. Last pic in particular.
ReplyDeleteIn other news Justin leads Team Canada to victory in the biggest battle since the war of 1812.
Let's go burn down the White House!! :p
DeleteThis goes out to the old malcontents (Scheer, Harper et al) who poo-pooed the renegotiations all the way: (thanks, Honeydogs

phucking funny
DeleteHey BBQ us Capitian, is this to increase his trade value?
I would be nervous ... they've traded the last few Kapitans, except for Saku who Gainey let walk for free.
DeleteGood call on Captain BBQ
DeleteBest take of BK yet! Thanks for sharing SaintPad! Bravura editing job there. Tarantino was ahead of his time.
DeleteI watched it like 20 times. Hilarious editing.

Some guy named Richard Labbe is mocking the Weber captaincy.
ReplyDeleteSo, what is the CAQ? Some kind of right wing offshoot? moe?
I just know that the Anglo wing can only be called CAQA
DeleteYep, CAQ is doug ford semi-light.
Deletelabbé is a séparatiste hack.
I think I know how that's pronounced ... ;-)

Yeah, CAQ is the sound one makes when one is very drunk and is puking, hard. Don't miss the bowl!

My Dad was pure Con.
My grandfather was a Con provincial member of government.
