moeman: you called for a B.A.D. parody?
In lieu of the PP woes and our TFS's
recommendation to his teammates to "Just shoot the puck",
here then, is (sung to the tune "Just Play Music") ~ SinMtl
Just Take That Shot
Move your feet and touch pass on, get that puck down in the zone
Just take that shot now
I don't care what team it is, CH pp’s total suckage
Just take that shot now
I don't need no pretty plays
I don't need no perfect box
I can't stop every giveaway
Can't score without taking a shot
Druid don't need a perfect spot, that just results in a block
Just take that shot now
I'll turn up my game a notch if Sauce gets there in the slot
Just take that shot now
If they hit you, roll with it
Do your job and lift their stick
Grab the puck and fire it off
Just like good old Vodkov
Do you have to play so tame?
Do I have to call you out?
Do you have to dump and chase?
Can Dish skate it out?
Take a good look at KidA
TFS is trying to tell 'em:
“Get yourself in that blue paint
“I stop the pucks, you pot 'em!”
If you just pass and pass in fits
Pretty soon, they’ll intercept it
If you need a defenseman
GM’s got the cash to spend
Move your feet and touch pass on, get that puck down in the zone
Just take that shot now
I don't care what team it is, BBQ’s shot scares them to shit
Just take that shot now
Is is cuz of Captain K?
Do we have to swap him out?
Do we have to clone KidA
Or pull Domini out?
It don't have to be set plays
Leko’s trying to score 'em
KidKo finds those passing lanes
He’ll set you up, you score 'em
Does SCHlem have to play so tame?
Can JB get the puck out?
Does LB have to dump and chase?
Can Dano skate it out?
Take a good look at KidA
TFS is trying to tell 'em:
“Get yourself in that blue paint
“I stop the pucks, you pot 'em!”
Just take that shot now, just fucking win boys!
I won't refuse it, but you could lose it
Just fucking win now, stay on that feeling
Don't you lose it, stay on the staging
Just take that shot now, FHFans won’t refuse it
Just fucking win now, sound
Just fucking win now, for that Bell Centre crowd
Just fucking win now, show them Coyotes now

I don't know B.A.D. or that song, but the parody is brilliant nonetheless. Well done SiM!
ReplyDeleteLast game for 10 days so JFW.
thanks - moeman gets the primary assist for cleaning it up, mind
DeleteLike Micheal Jackson that did not go to Walmart when boys underwear where half off
DeleteThey need these two points. Hopefully, Domini will play like Sauce does against Vegas ... all out!
ReplyDeleteDon't fuck this up.
Hey! that looks pretty good up there moeman. I am honoured! And chuffed at the youtube vid of the last time the two gentlemen Clash band-leaders took to the stage together.
ReplyDeleteNow JFW boys! Last chance until Groundhog Day. Julien has rejigged the hapless PP himself. If that don't work I say they give Carbo a call.
GYFHG
Its a great parody SinM. I even put your nick in the label/tags.
DeleteYeah, a Clash reunion of sorts. They rock it! Strummer left us too fucking soon!
Hard to believe Chiapet lasted this long in Edmonton. Best of luck to whomever inherits that shitshow. My money is on Mark Hunter.
ReplyDeleteNever liked Chia but can't stand bob nicholson. The guy is a leech.
DeleteBoth Mike Milbury and Garth Snow are together tonite saying, passed the torch
DeleteI intentionally but in the skills competition hardest shots results as a pointer to putting both BBQ and Dish! on the PP and leave them there! I'd give Dano, Domini and KidKo the first shots too.
ReplyDeleteYep. Not a fan of the 4 forwards on a PP. And if you have 2 rockets, well the defending team can't cover everybody. Give this man a job as the Habs' PP specialist!!
DeleteI'm back! It only took me 35 hours with no sleep to get from LA to Mtl. Nightmare! Okay JFW boys!!!
ReplyDeleteugh!!! And all those US security people not getting paid but showing up to work. The USA is primed and vulnerable right now. Glad you're home safe. (Welcome to transit chaos amidst the massive snow/sleet/freezing whatever here).
DeleteThanks Scott. It started with a cancelled flight due to mechanical failure and spiraled downwards from there.
DeleteWelcome home Kate!
DeleteMerci Moe!
DeleteHad forgotten about the tragedy Luke Richardson and his family went through.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.difd.com/
Well well well we have a Yote in the house
ReplyDeleteand the tracks lead back to some kind of Domination
"tugs at his sunglasses"
JFW
A PP goal!
ReplyDeleteDruid.
It's a post Christmas miracle! A PP goal!!!
ReplyDeleteDruid out of the woods
ReplyDeleteReverse jinx in effect. Que l'on continue, les gars!
ReplyDeleteHey how was the 1st? Up a goal is nice.
ReplyDeleteActually quite meh.
DeleteWe're missing Shaw and Byron, I'm looking forward to after the break when everyone is back and well rested.
ReplyDeleteYep, two big (ok, they're small) pieces!
DeleteR
ReplyDelete2-1 Habs, Reilly (does he have a nick?)
ReplyDeleteR = rather.
ReplyDeleteRadar! -SiM par mobile hôtie
gFuck -- SiM
ReplyDeleteWow. No goal on an offside.
ReplyDeleteOooooooh...! As in: gFuck off! GYFHG!!
ReplyDeleteHang the fuck on boys!
ReplyDeletePutrid leaf beating Caps, but will move into 3rd, still 1 point behind the Amazing Leaf.
ReplyDelete2000th team win!
ReplyDeleteWhoa... GM will take that as a feather in his cap eh? -- SiM
DeleteWhoa... GM will take that as a feather in his cap eh? -- SiM
DeleteYotes is toast. Next up: Groundhog Day! Rest up, bitCHes! LB shall return to see his shadow. SSR too, gods willing --SiM
ReplyDeleteSo I guess it will be Niemi in net on Groundhog Day with ? as backup as TFS extends his break by a day.
ReplyDeleteGoing to CHill.
ReplyDeleteAt least one Sexy thread during the break.
Be good, be well and as always be well fellow and feline FHFriends!
Ça marche, moeman. We shall be thwarted in all-staredness - but we shall gather our strength and all who shall en-Bettmanish us horribly shall thenceworth pay the price of their hubris! ROAR etc. Et al and so forth blah blah --SiM
DeleteHey - Great parody - and an even nicer win. In September, if anyone here said that at the AS break the Habs would be sitting in a playoff spot and playing fun, exciting hockey again, first we would have all laughed...but taken it. So here we sit - I am smiling and happy. I saw a stat that said TFS play .951 in January and something like .932 since the end of November - that's TFS back where he belongs. Having a nice 10 day break will be good for Les Boys - let's hope they stay focused and kick ass down the stretch. I'll dip back in for SF when it arrives - everyone have a nice break! GYFHG! BTW - is it correct that because TFS decided not to waste his time and energy on Buttman's annual circle jerk, no other Hab replaces him - therefore No Hab representation at the CJ?
ReplyDeleteThis is correct. They needed another goalie so Vaselinesky from TB is going. Perfectly fine by me for all of our guys to avoid that Bettman dog and pony show. It's a farce and waste of time and I have no doubt the fellas would much rather spend some time away with their families.
DeleteAnd of course, Price is 'suspended' for the first game following the break, same as OV.
A couple things before we all disappear for the extended break. First Yoel Armia was a forechecking beast last night! A well deserved first star, it's that kind of play that should light a fire under any underperforming asses.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, it was the January 8th blog when I put on my rose coloured glasses and posted:
They play 6 games in 10 days starting tomorrow. They need to win 4 of 6 at least, including the game against the broon.
Well they actually went 5-1 during that stretch, only losing the Columbus game and indeed beat the broon (though in regulation would have been better).
So here we are 3rd in the Atlantic, 1 point behind the Stanley Cup favourites led by Gretzky and Orr. We've scored 20 fewer goals over a 50 game span and allowed a handful more (9) but if you were to look at the past 12 games you would probably find a much different story. Bruins come back off their break earlier and their 2 games in hand will be the Jets and Philthy before Groundhog Day. They sit 2 back, so 1 win will tie us in points but they would be ahead on the tiebreaker rule.
Point is the last 30 games down the stretch are all going to be meaningful. There is separation from the non-playoff teams now, but it would only take a small 4 or 5 game slump at this time of year to find one's self precariously perched in the final wildcard spot with garbage teams like the Rags, Canes or Barfalo nipping at one's heels.
So here's hoping the boys get some rest, heal up, grab some sun or do whatever it is rich athletes do with their leisure time and come back with a renewed fervor and crush it down the stretch. I'm looking at a potential 18-11-2 record for 38 more points, finishing at 99. I don't know if that keeps them in the top 3 in the Atlantic, but it is most definitely a wild card spot.
Edit: they actually went 4-2 in those games as the St Loo loss was included. The Yotes game last night wasn't in that 10 day stretch. As you were.
DeleteI think they just have to play consistently over the last 38 games, no long losing streaks and have Price remain healthy to be in the dance. I don't really care where they finish in the standings, they are not contenders so it's a moot point. Just play as many games as you can and get Geoff all the cash that's available. Keep rebuilding. Maybe a few of the prospects will sign up and get a few games in at the end of the regular season.
DeleteOne of the biggest reasons for the turnaround has obviously been the revamped defence. Someone finally recognized that Alzner, Schlemko and Benn were not capable of playing the minutes they were being given previously. The return of Weber was bigger than I expected and Reilly, Mete and Kulak, for all their faults, can at least skate which seems to be the new prerogative in buttman's ever evolving trainwreck NHL.
ReplyDeleteAlso, too, keep voting for KidKo's sweet goal at tsn. 81% !
ReplyDeleteNever will any freak of nature throwing a basketball through a hoop beat that play.
DeleteAlso they have a fucking Tiger Tracker on their home page. There are far better golfers in the world now. Or put trackers on our Canadians if you have to stoop to doing such things ffs.
I could watch that on a loop for like, months.
DeleteEverything Saint Paddy said above ++
ReplyDeleteAlso, TFS noted how much the rest will help. I think this is extra good timing, considering how shitty the winter weather has been in these parts lately. And the "bye" week coming after the All Star weekend is an added bonus. Perfect timing. I expect Domini is tired and KidA and Dish and BBQ and Leko (he hasn't been his usual self for a bit it seems).
Essentially, the season is a long grind for everyone, and being primed for the last 10 weeks will be great for them all. Mrs. TFS will appreciate the home time of hubby too, with a newborn and a toddler both. If I was in charge of the CH media I would do a bit with TFS using his amazing cat-like reflexes to avoid a pee-spray while changing a diaper.
Off topic, but if anyone knows the Specials like they know the Clash, apparently there is a new recording coming out that will blow us all away.
New Specials, can not wait. Saw them twice. Fucking fun.
DeleteI think BBQ will make the most of the rest.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=3&v=UNeM3w5SVOs
DeleteAwesome! cheers
DeleteFinally got to Star Trek disco. Its become really good. Capturing the essence of the original series.
ReplyDeleteAlso rockin my eyeballs is Season Two of the Punisher.
To rent or not to rent? I would put Nature or PooChes and a first up for Michealanglo. Plus he is not really a rental, has two years left.
https://www.blessthisstuff.com/stuff/culture/read/the-official-john-wayne-handy-book-for-men/
ReplyDeleteFrom All-Star skills competition recap (courtesy CTVnews): "Carlson beat out local fan favourite Brent Burns for the hardest shot, recording the fastest two times at 102.8 mph and 100.8 mph. Burns missed the net on his first attempt and had the next fastest time on his second try at 100.6 mph."
ReplyDeleteDidn't BBQ and Dish come in at 104 and 103 respectively last weekend at the CH family event at the Phone Booth? Anyway,...
yes, why not have an allstar break in every city. A skills comp and the top 3 from the league go head to head in all the categories to decide the ultimate player. As for the game each team could play Canadians against the rest, or players over 25 against younger maybe switching goalies. It would generate more interest than the latest debacle.
ReplyDeleteLB would have been third in skating and KidKo would have won the shootout.
The original concept of the All-Star games was a charity event, to help out down on their luck former players, start pensions and help local charities. It was the previous season's Stanley Cup champs against the rest of the league's very best. It evolved into an East vs West thing until it devolved into the unfathomable mess it is today. The fans in whatever city it happens to be in might have some interest in watching but does anybody else give a rat's ass anymore? I haven't watched in decades.
ReplyDeleteIts become a total joke. Players 'voted' in. CotU mediots whining that their leaf 'deserved' many more players repped (because?). No meCHanism to even get one Hab there (despite TFS bailing and of course except Youppi!). Congrats to Sid for getting the MVP instead of the amazing tavares/matthews juggernot.
DeleteSid is still the best player ... IN THE FUCKING WORLD ... despite the CotU mediots constantly whining that local boy McSaviour currently is. What the fuck has he ever won? Answer: Fuck all. Plus, his team is a fucking mess.
DeleteI would argue that fellow Maritimer Nate MacKinnon is as good as McJesus. The inward looking Toronto naval gazers see very little outside their narrow field of vision in the gta. Fucking morons.
I remember the ASG when Mike Liut came up big, representing the Whale. I remember PFK doing a decent Jagr impression once. Other than that...
DeleteWhat they should do is go back to the charily idea, only in support of concussion-wracked former enforcers.
KidKo/KoKo/KoHo on an 8 day streak on the TSN 1v1 challenge. Current challenger is Stamkos with a beauty of a goal...but from the meaningless ASG and not nearly as 'mint' as the actual real game action move made by KK. KK currently winning with 86% of the vote. I believe they max them out at 10 days.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty slick! Bet our Kidko will provide a few more highlight reel stuff before long.
DeleteEven the feds are getting in on the "Going Finn" trend --> Nokia won the bid to develop our 5G network. Suck it, Xi Peng! btw, I wonder what would happen if Michael Kovrig was named McCallum's replacement as Chinese ambassador. Then they'd have to spring him out of jail!
This is why I am not in charge of anything, actually. I have the best ideas.
I like the idea of the CDN abassador in a room Clockwork Orange apparatus on his eyelids listening to Wham Audio and Weak ANdy on Video 24/7. He was paid for this.
DeleteFact is we are going to take a beating, should we just roll over for our US friends or see what new ways of pain the Chinese can envoke.
How long before Sucksnet and Hockey Night in toronto ditch Huawei as their sponsor? Gotta be soon you think. Of course, buttman and his money grubbing league have no shame so probably not...
DeleteGood thing Steve lost his phone or did CSIS steal it...??
I knew it, the MAN has my phone. Good thing I only send messengers for sensitive communications.
DeleteBye-week sucks. Hope they're healing up good is all I can say. HYFHH!!!
ReplyDeleteHey You Freakin' Healing Habs?
Delete:-)
Great new artist;
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fy3-hsiXzQk
leaf get Muzzin and the parade is back on.
ReplyDeleteIts historic, the leaf first team to win the Stanley cup twice in one year.
ReplyDeleteLA got a bag of pucks. Muse was the top lefty available.
But don't they need a righty?
DeleteIn all seriousness, not a terrible trade to get the top D man 'available' when your glaring need is D, no matter which way he shoots.
I went to the Sea Dogs game last Saturday night. I discussed hockey a great deal with my Blues scout friend, we were both laughing about how the leaf won the Cup back in September but were waiting to hold the parade in June.
ReplyDeleteWhen I win the lottery, I'm going to put a chunk of my funds into developing a sports website that reports on every team except those from Toronto. It will feature the other 6 Canadian hockey teams and all other sports. But there will never be mention of that T word. Habs play the leafs? Sorry no mention of it other than to report that the Habs won or lost their game against another team. Did the Raptors play? Who knows...not this website? What are the Jays doing in January? Don't fucking care. And you won't find out here. Coming soon to a computer screen near you - www.sportsfornonsfufans.com it's a working title.
ReplyDeleteI like it!
DeleteI like ETOP( SBNATION). they have Its a mixed bag, the Habs site is excellent, the leaf more SFU. I have seen some American sites and they are pathetic. Fact is there is no real good place except TSN690 to get Hab content which in that case is all audio or video. Written pixels its a dessert.
Deletehi guys....
ReplyDeletelooking at the begining of the stretch run (too early to call it that?) and the boys start with 5 games in 8 days! they host nj, edm, anh, wpg, tml. im a penny pincher and im inclined to sat this will be very vaulable and unmeasurable if they can grab 7 pts out those available.
from here on... i see a 2-1-1 record easily carrying them til the end.
Need some puck.
ReplyDeleteIt's been too long.
Is there a reason for Brendan Kelly.
I can't think of one.
Go Habs
OMG YES!! If anyone should just stick to be a shitty music critic...
DeleteNo more voting on KidKo at sfu site.
ReplyDeleteIn their 'Hall of Fame' as a 10 time champ. Right there next to TFS.
DeleteAnd remember, he's eightfuckingteen years old!
I never venture beyond the main page.
DeleteKoHo is 18 1/2 years old. In the real world he graduated high school last June. He started a new job in September playing for the glorious CH!
ReplyDeleteWhat did you do right out of high school?
The day after graduation, me, a cousin and my best friend (along with our giant hangovers) boarded a train for the 22 hour trip to Tronna. We each had separate relatives to stay with in the big city. While they were there for the summer, my intention was to stay and attend the Radio College of Canada in the fall (not a journalism school, but a 'cutting edge electronics' joint). I took a tour of the place not long after arriving and saw exactly what a lot of the course entailed and what the students were working on (it went through the summer too) and decided it wasn't for me but would stick around and make some cash for when I decided which schooling was right for me.
So I found myself a job, leading me to the "What were you doing at 18 1/2?" part of this post. Well, I was working at A-1 Rent-a-Tool making $6/hr servicing tools. The tool rental market was big with contractors in the city apparently. I'm talking big tools too, like steam rollers and concrete floats and plate tampers, along with all the usual suspects. By the time I decided I couldn't afford to live there (cost money to stay with relatives if not going to school) at Christmas, I was making a whopping $7.50/hr
And it was the fall of 1987 in Tronna that I saw my only live Habs game, when they beat the leaf 10-3 (i think). My favourite player at the time was the Little Viking and Mats Nassssluund put up 4 or 5 points. Wasn't a good hockey game. But was a great place to be as a Habs fan (of which there were many in the old Garden at the time.
Great story! I tried to write my first song after quitting McD's: Don't join the hamburger army / Don't think it'll be a party at that age.
DeleteGood stuff St. Pad.
DeleteI'm pretty sure I was at that same game! I was with my uncle (a Broon fan) and we laughed so hard. I think we even took a GOCar after the game to the outskirts and enjoyed showing off our team jerseys. There even was some fat-jowled kid that looked just like Friedman.
My first job (outside of paper routes) was with Consumers Distributing. theM. would've found it cool that I dated the VPs daughter, a rambunctious cutie named, wait for it, Chevy. My store manager had a baby blue 71 convertible Stang. I should've bought it.
So the thought of Consumers brought me back to my appreciation for hotdogs.
DeleteThere was an A&W next door, the drive-up kind.
They had WhistleDog Wednesdays. A good hotdog with cheese, mustard and relish. $1 each
I just made myself a gourmet version with old cheddar, dijon, relish a nice whole wheat bun and a new discovery;
these are amazing;
https://bit.ly/2D4Lscb
My first job after high school ... weir fisherman, where you construct a wooden cage with nets just off shore to capture sardines, which when you gather them up with a purse net are them pumped into a carrier vessel and transported to Conners Bros. cannery in Black's Harbour, N.B. You know, those little fish you eat out of a can. A tough job, you worked with the tides which change by roughly an hour every 24 hour cycle, so you are working sometimes in the middle of the night. That ran from early April to late July when the herring move on to deeper water. That summer (1973) I made enough money to pay cash for a 1969 Dodge Super Bee with enough money in my bank account to live off the rest of the year. It was a very good season. Aaaahhhh, those were the days. It was back to school in '74 to Nova Scotia Community College where I got a degree in architectural technology and then a 32 year career with the City of Saint John.
Delete@moe, I don't know if Chevy would have looked right in that 'Stang. You might have been OK with a 'Vette though.
Chevy was a lot of fun.
DeleteMy 'old man' was an after-hours mechanic got a 1967 Ford Fairlane, 2 door, cleaned it up nice, drove it for a year and a bit. I didn't like it's look. I regret it to this day.
https://bit.ly/2Rsv6z0
Awesome story theM. Did you bag any of the sardines to take home? Amazing on the BBQ.
DeleteMy 2 youngest siblings worked at McD. The haul from the midnight shift was impressive. I favoured the filet-o-fish.
DeleteFirst job after high school.
DeleteWorking at Danbys screwing the power cable onto a pressure cooker.
$ 2.41 per hour but I didn't have to cut my hair
Lasted 2.5 days and then went out west to work.
Woa memories.
Go Habs
my first pay at McD's in 1985 was @ 3.54 an hour. Adult min wage was higher then: $4.00
DeleteI joined the Sandanistas. After that I work in a LCBO liquor store and at the same time worked for a car dealership putting lifetime wax on cars. And may have sold the odd ounce of strawberries to tourists.
ReplyDeleteand the M I always wanted to be an architect but settled on marine biologist. * Seinfeld* Looks like you covered both bases somewhat.
ReplyDeleteNever took any sardines home, I only wanted the money.
ReplyDeleteI knew early that a life on the water wasn't for me but I'm glad I experienced it. My father fished for 40 odd years until his back gave out, it's a tough life. My three brothers all did it though.
Strangely enough Steve, although I trained in architectural, I ended up in the civil discipline with the City and learned how to design and construct infrastructure and streets. I did do the odd architectural or mechanical design and draw projects over the years for variety. It was an interesting career. Switching from manual drawings to CAD was a bit of a challenge but I had no difficulty with it. As a side note, my first supervisor said I was the best hand letterer he had ever seen in his 25 years of service. Shoot, nowadays they don't even teach cursive writing anymore. It's all Steve Jobs fault.
Jewels might be seriously injured. Hope the rest works. The kid has a bright future. Per Engels, eyesight may be permanently compromised. Career threatening. Damn
ReplyDeleteSo when i moved out of the Laurentians and went to John Abbott College i got my first real job in the McD’s in DDO...then I wanted a night off to see AC/DC and they said Non...I said Au Revoir......
ReplyDelete
