  1. Merci to all the FHFabulous friends on here. It was fucking FHFun!

I'll leave to St. Pad to post what (and when he wants).

I'll do a season recap later this week and yes I'll make it sexy.

Go Bruins and fuck the SFU!

I look forward to your season recap. I am going to lay off the snide comments towards Bergevin until the off season gets underway and see what direction this team takes.

  4. I am happy for the first time in ever with the direction of this team. If they just get a skating coach and a shooting coach I will be in Nirvana. Thanks Moeman and St Pad for all your dedication and playing a 200 foot game, all the while herding/posting cats. Special Mention to 29 who has joined the paper chase and no longer has lots of time for digital.

Ok let the draft discussions begin, I dont care how talented, fast smart sexy or diverse our first round pick is, he must be over 6 foot tall.

I am going to go against the grain and wish the leaf well against Boston. Cheering for Boston is like cheering for ISIS. Not gonna do it, would not be prudent.

  5. Despite my near absence most of this year, it has been a delight. CHeers to moe and St Pad for yeoman's work. The FHF lineage remains in fine hands

Had you told me before the season the Habs would end with 44 wins and 96 points I would have taken it in a heartbeat. That's good for 6th in the West btw. Makes me angry

  6. Mostly thanks to moeman for the lion's share of the work this year. Chipped in when I could.

A late congrats btw to my local home rink in Renous, NB for winning Kraft Hockeyville. Well deserved for that community.

  7. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Moeman, Saint Paddy, HF29 and everyone else who has contributed this season. We don’t get as many comments as we used to but what we do get are mostly quality stuff. We are all here because we are Habs fans first and foremost, that is what brings us together. All season long I look forward to the comments. We share in the joy and feel the pain together too...And the pain was a lot less this season. Some games hurt more than others but overall it has been a pretty decent season. OK - so it started with a loss in OT to the fuckin’ leaf...but it ended in a S/O win against the fuckin’ leaf so that is what I will remember fondly. The amount of work that goes into making this blog happen regularly is awe inspiring. Thank you all for what you do here. I eagerly anticipate the season wrap. I am not qualified to pass judgement on what the Habs did other than as a hockey fan first and foremost. The hockey was mostly good, exciting and fast. Some coaching calls I didn’t get. Some players’ commitment I questioned and that is the part that hurst the most. They are so lucky to wear a Habs jersey - it is beyond me how they can do that but not try as hard as they should. I am of two minds when it comes to BBB. He isn’t stupid and some good has happened...but other things should have happened too...maybe they will next season. He wants to win. They all want to win. Let’s hope that they fluke a great pick in the draft, that Poehling lives up to game 1 promise and that TFS has the most chill summer possible, comes back and cracks the .920 mark all season long.

That’s me done for now. I’ll watch the playoffs with passing interest and pray every night until the leaf are out...then we’lol see who’s standing and go from there.

Once again...Thank you all very much for GYFHG!

I'll add my thanks as well to brother moe and Saint Paddy. This place is so much fun, especially when our team is winning, and a great place to vent ... whether it be management's questionable decisions or to call out the vile SFU. I just wish I didn't have to prove who I am all the time to Blogger's robot slaves.

I'll add my congrats as well to the Village of Renous, N.B. on winning Kraft Hockeyville, I even watched the littlest commissioner announce it the next day on the pvr. The entire population was either in the rink or the parking lot when it was announced, I believe there were some folks from Blackville there as well Saint Paddy!

  9. Was just thinking about how the Habs still need that big #1 Centre. Nothing really available through free agency. Yeah there are guys like Matt Duchene and Jeff Skinner potentially available. These 2 have a potential with the right linemates to at least be the best we've had in a long time. Or Joe Pavelski or Brock Nelson. But none of these guys are that BIG #1 C that a team needs to thrive. So one wonders if BBB can pull of another heist this off-season to finally find that guy.
I think KK will ultimately be a fantastic #2 C. Poehling had a tremendous start to his career but I think he more likely projects as a 2/3 C rather than a #1. As will as Max did this year at C, he's probably that much better on the wing, and isn't a #1 C by any stretch. Wait and see. All I know is I'm tired of these long off-seasons without playoff hockey.

  10. A final thought for now. Let me first take of my skeptical spectacles.

    Drouin.

Some of us have been rough on him. Bonus is he still has time to grow (emotionally and physically) so he can better play the game at this level. Whether he decides to or not is up to him.

If you compare him simply points based to Huberdeau in FLA, their first 5 years were pretty similar.

    Huberdeau posted 198 pts in 303 games for a 0.65pts/game pace. JD posted 194 in 322 for 0.60 pts/game.
The past 2 seasons, JH has been on a top line with good players and has elevated to a point/game player. IF JD pulls his head out of his ass and prepares properly and gets on a line with that elusive #1 C mentioned above, maybe he can approach those numbers in the next couple of years too.

Future's so bright, I'm gonna wear shades instead.

    1. the Maritimer10:12 AM

I'm a Huberdeau fan but I'm biased by his Sea Dogs connection. JH is a very humble guy and plays an honest 200 foot game. I'd take him in a heartbeat.

I read, somewhere, during the last few weeks of the season Drouin spent more time avoiding getting hit than trying to score. Another thing that turns people off is his perceived "attitude" of thinking he is better than everyone else. And his very public hold out with Stevie Y. and the Dolts. I just find JD to be unlikeable. He could eventually put up some numbers if he was sheltered with a couple of bigger players. He's not dependable in my books. We'll see.

And the fucking Rags go to #2? The Wirtzs' are another buttman fave right up there with the Jacobs. Nope, nothing to see here folks. Canadian teams fucked again.

  17. Anyone here doing the HNL.com bracket challenge thingy? I did mine last year and had some fun with it. Never been much good at the actual predicting of games to win the series but it is free and fun so I had a go...when I worked it through, I ended up with the Caps and Flames in the final. And to be honest, it’s a bling guess. I don’t think Nashville will get there and I don’t see the VGK’s repeating...Please feel free to chip in. Especially for the West. I took

Vegas over SAN Jose, Calgary over Colorado, Nashville over Dallas and St. Louis over the Jets (I might be persuaded to change that last one). Calgary then beats up VGK and Nashville takes care of St. Louis. Calgary then takes care of Nashville and makes it to the final...

In the East I went with

Tampa, Boston, Capitals and Penguins...then Tampa over the B’s and the Caps over the Pens, leaving the Caps to beat the Bolts to get them into the final...

Calgary vs. Washington for the Stanley Cup is only ever going to end with Ovi going on another 3 month bender (IMO)...so that’s my simple little mind working out the results.

And what say all of you?

      Bolts over CBUS
      Bs over Leaves
      Caps over Canes
      Pens over Isles

      Bolts over Bs
      Caps over Pens

      Bolts over Caps

      Flames over Avs
      Sharks over Knights
      Stars over Preds
      Jets over Blues

      Flames over Sharks
      Jets over Stars

      Flames over Jets

Bolts over Flames a la 2004.

Anybody else tired of "hope" and "the future"?

Also, the Habs are still too small a team. They can't go four rounds. I don't care how fast they are.

    Just an observation.

  19. Game on St. Pad. Let's see where it lands. Get to the show and anything can happen. I've realised that my kids are growing up like leaf fans did when I was a kid. I prey my kids don't turn into the lead fans I grew up with...but I can't control that so I try not to lose too much sleep over it anymore. I remain "hopeful" ...

  20. Getting ready for my hockey pool tonight and notice that the Isles' leading scorer Matt Barzal scored 62 points. Look at their goaltending tandem's numbers and it's clear that if Carey had a better start and/or we had a better backup and another top tier defender, this team could have at least made it to the dance OR if they had more gifted offensive talent like (I hate to say it) the leafs, who scored 50 more goals, the team is well over 100 points.

BBB could have made at least one of these changes at the deadline and we'd probably be getting ready to watch our team in the playoffs tonight. Well, maybe it was too late for a backup to make a difference, but a good backup that could be trusted to win a few games and give TFS the odd game off would be huge.

    Hindsight eh.

OK, he and Shannon talking about the leaf/bearturd series.

BobCat: "I heard 3 clowns talking last night about this series, two of them picked the leaf in 6 and the other picked the leaf in 5. We have to stop hiring FANS around here. Only a fan would pick the leaf to win because they want them too."

We all share freely here too...I ask only that, should you choose to support the leaf, you respectfully keep that choice to yourself. As my wise mother once told me..."Son, it's not a smart choice and it's not one I can ever support but it is your choice to make. Please don't ever mention it in my presence ever again. ReplyDelete
  32. i know im gonna get a lot of slack for this, but one of u (steve, maritimer?) pointed out that i am an eternal optimist for advocating sneaking in instead of tanking for the draft. too optimistic in not recognising our boys arent big enough, dont have enough top end talent, our boys will get grind down in a 7 game series, our boys are missing that big #1 centre...

i said it then and ill say it again. that is bollocks. any team is capable of anything any playoff year. the modern nhl has designed that to be and the biggest key to winning i believe is desire more than anything. can anybody on this board tell me that kidG, tuna, domini, leko, ssr, nate2.0, AWD, wrongbenn, army, LB are not guys who would die for this team? (i deliberately left out TFS, cause his casualness will never translate well to desire)

my proof is only a small sample so far, but im writing this while i have the chance to say i told u so. there is absolutely no reason why our boys cannot be doing the same to TB, to PGH, to SJ, to WSH.

i beg all u guys. from now on, demand more, expect no less, accept nothing else. this team is called the habs, we have a pedigree of winning. i will never back down from these minimum requirements. to do anything else would be admitted exactly the thing which got squid (wrongly) disciplined for.

end rant, go all replica hab teams (nyi, lv, cbj, car, stl, col)!

    ReplyDelete
  33. oh, and for the record, i hate BST more than TML cause ive never considered the leaves as a rival. i didnt grow up with the leaves as a power, but just to fit in with the rest of u: die u putrid leaves...

  34. we occupy the same space, we are only a few tweaks from glory. More size, we dont need goons we already have 3 guys who are approved glove droppers. Last night Columbus took away the front of the net from De bolts and they had nothing, nothing.

I was born and raised in Ontario, everyone I know is a Leaf fan, except me. I want a Canadian team to win the cup full stop. If the leaf win the cup it will be a billion dollars into the provincial coffers, just saying, should that money go to the excited states instead.

    ReplyDelete
  35. There is some good hockey to watch. Ovi and the Caps are fun to watch. The Tavares-less Isles and their goalies. Dallas v Nashville.
    3
Don't give a crap about the shitbowl. Don't care about TBay - in tough down 2 without their leading scorer for game 3. Win, lose. Don't care.

At the risk of barfing in my mouth, I would rather see the putrif leaf win than a team south of the Mason Dixon line. The true northern US teams are secondary, except the broons. They can fuck off. Flames looking like the best shot for Canada right now. Though if BJs manage to remove the Tampons, then the way is more clear in the east.

Like moe, I never want to see the putrid pile of shit leaf ever, ever win in my lifetime and I hope I make 90 at least.

As for oleg's rant, I get it, you want the Habs to win as do I. But, I threw away my rose coloured glasses a long time ago. The current Habs are too small and not talented enough to compete for the Cup. They will have to prove me wrong and it ain't happening this year, is it? Why?

I watched some of the games, the Pit/Capt. HiLiners is a tough series. Jets/Blues is good too. I recorded and watched SJ/Vegas, they are two excellent teams.
