I love the "ticket" for tonight's game: Habs vs A Pile of Shit. Wonderful!
I'm not sure if this is factual but some guy on Twitter stated the Habs have missed the playoffs 17 times in their entire existence and bergevin has been GM for 5 of those misses. That's like nearly 30% of the time. I know Montreal had a decent year but let's not let this guy off the hook too easily. That is disgraceful. If true. Maybe I'll look it up myself.
That's a cherry-picking way to measure success though. I recall a point when the league had ten fewer teams than today, angling for the same number of play-off spots. In the six-team era, there were always only two that didn't make it, and the Habs got all the cream of the local talent pool they could want (Lafleur was the last draftee they were able to take advantage of that).
Add the that the Buttman era of anti-Canadian team bias any GM here has to deal with, and the disparity in taxes for big-ticket players who can pad their wallets much better on the same contract if playing on a team south of the border.
Lastly, the 96 points they amassed this season ties the NHL record for most points for a team that still missed a playoff seed. It was all-in-all a fabulous season and even if they got the two points in DC last week, it wouldn't have been enough to take the BJs' spot (that game in Columbus would've had to have been won regardless).
OK, so they don't count the pre-NHL years but the record is 101 years, 83 playoff appearances, so 18(?) misses and mb presided over 5 of those. Not good. Just sayin'.
I'm sure Brendan Kelly will be sure to carve bergy up appropriately.
Yeah, but they made the playoffs that season (bbb's 1st) and were on their way to the Finals against LA until Carey got crydered. So bergy's teams have been out 4 out of 5 years and lost in the 1st round the year they made it. That should be a hanging offence in Montreal but somehow he survives. If the Habs aren't in the playoffs next year heads should roll, starting with bergevin and bear stank julien.
You are thinking of the season they started out like a house on fire, Carey hurt his knee and bergevin went with the hobo look as his team sank to the bottom like a fucking anchor under the arrogant fuckface and they all tried to cover it up.
EPA vs PD its a carbon tax. In the years I have been back, and its more than a decade for sure, I have never been so optomistic about the future, and I am a glass half full guy. One sniper and one assasin and plan the parade.
I dont think the fab Tampa team will ever win the cup because they have the mussel of a hybrid car. It will get you far and cost nothing, but when you need a car with push its not there.
Weak Andy might be a dimwit but I can tell you Justin Trudeau isn't too popular around these parts nowadays.
Edgar Allen Poel for the hat trick. He's nearly as awesome as Awesome in his first game.
I have no idea what's being said and don't give a fuck during bob cold night. Have had the sound turned down all evening. Not listening to the old leaf fan calling his last blind game.
We'll see what the political landscape looks like after the provincial elections in PEI and Alberta. If the Greens take the island province, all bets are off for JT generally in October. The left-vote split will allow Scheer to creep in just like the moron Legault and his dumb-ass CAQ did here in Quebec; just like the dumb-ass Ford did in Ontario, and just like the dumb-ass Kenney is looking to do.
EAP can be our single team rep eating lukewarm Whoppers at the WH then, in 2021. Todd'll put water in his wine now, based on last night's performance. Just might be a warning the boy could be an off-ice nightmare if he behaves anything like the guy he idolizes (yeah, i used 'Merican spelling for idolised).
Powerful looking at centre with his filled-in build - like KidKo will be in two years. This could mean Dano and Domini will make four top three centres on the team next season. A helluva turnaround in fortunes at Centre in just one year.
MaxPac finished the year with 22G, 40 pts and a -13. His new "powerhouse" team finished with three less points than the one he left, albeit in the playoffs.
Tuna alone - two years younger btw, and a lot more cost-efficient too - had 25G, 58 pts. and +21
The Habs didn't even have to pay his full salary FFS, not to mention a pick and Suzuki on top of that.
EPA looked like he had just had the best hockey experience he could've ever dreamed of, while skating around after his first-star selection, tossing signed pucks into the stands (without a MAGA cap on his noggin, thankfully).
All three goals he scored in regulation showed a real goal-scorer's touch, and a penchant for getting it done the hard way, muscling his way into position. A great shot too. It was like seeing MaxPac but USING his size to his advantage! More leadership too. Can't wait for October now.
my guy Aurther, makes me think of Dudley Moore, I dub thee 10. He is the first player since gCHuck to score as many goals or something. Take the goalscorer leave the cannoli.
bargainbinbergy the dumpster diver pulled off a couple of good trades there is no denying that. He has a boatload of picks for 2019 and billions in Cap Space. He better do SOMETHING to improve their position next season or that's it. Like Brian Wilde wrote, there are no more excuses and Geoff Molson better stop just pocketing money from the fans. Just "making the playoffs" is not good enough for me.
Just realised the Avalanche made the second season with only 38 wins and 90 points (14 loser points in there). Habs won six more games than that. What a sham of a league!
there is much wrong, but a lot of things are right, the pariaty makes for excitement. However it is a sham we have 6 more points than a team in the playoffs. There also should be a prize for being the best team not to make the playoff, how about better odds at the lottery, how about the best odds at the lottery, no lets make it first overall guarnteed.
Well back on home soil. Great trip...the travel aspect left a bit to be desired with delays on both ends. Felt a lot like cattle getting shuffled around a very crowded Cuban airport. But can now say been there done that. Arrived home at 630am so watched the recorded game just to see how the kid looks and he did not disappoint! Obviously not a game one would predict his entire career on (unless he was a leaf and one worked at SFU), but impressive nonetheless. Fucking bagged but can't sleep or will f up sleep cycle. World Curling and a young Canadian golfer in the lead so my day is planned.
I gotta say something, anything cause I feel that way. We may have fell short, but this team is not william wallace. Braveheart loyal to a fault brain. Not one more smurf. Not one more smurf. We need some sheild madien to push through when things are tight. PDEAP pulled through, he did not pull out, and now the leafs may be pregnant. We need on our airplane, a Bombardier design for sure, more big poeple on the emergency door. You dont score three goals in your NHL debut unless you are something special. KidKo is a work in progress. Dano is a third line shutdown guy. We are solid down the middle, skechty at the point and world class in goal. Plan the fucking parade for next year,
Weber needs to drop down to the 2nd pairing, reduced minutes would benefit. I don't know if Petry is a #1 but he's younger and more mobile. I don't know if bargainbin could coax Karlsson out of San Jose but he should at least make the phone call. He may not be comfortable shopping at Saks Fifth Avenue rather than the Dollar Store however.
Well as I said, thought I'd watch young Coery Connors play golf. Well he starts out on fire, starting one back, got to a 4 stroke lead after only 5 holes only to start the mega choke, bogey 4 straight and is 1 back again after 9.
There is a hockey point here. As he walks ioff the 9th after giving up the lead, he pulls out his golf book which all golfers have with course layouts, notes and scorecard, etc, and his has a fucking leaf logo on the cover. Choke explained. Was it 2012 game 7 leafs v broons?
I'll still cheer for the kid but don't see him getting it back together today. Hope I'm wrong.
Congrats to Canadian golfer Cory Conners for winning the PGA tournament in Texas yesterday. It's a life changing event for the young man and his new bride. I checked the purse for the Texas Valero Open and the winner gets $1.35 million US plus, he will get his Tour card for at least 3 years AND gets to play in the Masters this weekend. Pretty sweet!!
We are supposed to be getting up to 15cm of snow today ... Ugh!

Definitely a poor record of playoffs. I'd mulligan the year TFS was taken out by cryder.
DeleteYeah, but they made the playoffs that season (bbb's 1st) and were on their way to the Finals against LA until Carey got crydered. DeleteLB out, EPA in, CHLin starts.
ReplyDeleteCHLin kinda rhymes with chillin'.
DeleteI like CHL for Charlie Surfs Canadien
DeleteKotK needs a 4 point night. There is no other reason for tonight...
ReplyDeleteThe leaf are playing tonight with no defence. Maybe KoHo can get his 4 points on Hutchinson.

DeleteOne thing for sure ... CHL doesn't resemble Patrick Roy.
ReplyDeleteEAP!! He's just as fucking awesome as Awesome ... 4 goals in his first game. Will the SFU talk about it? Highly unlikely.
ReplyDeleteEat shit toronto leafool media hacks!
Unfuckingbelievable !
DeleteCongrats EAP!
Over 50 shots on CHL. The guy did well. Could be a superb backup.
ReplyDeleteJack Todd doesn't like Ryan Poehling because he dared to support Trump. Sucks to be you Jack.
ReplyDeleteEAP can be our single team rep eating lukewarm Whoppers at the WH then, in 2021. Todd'll put water in his wine now, based on last night's performance. Just might be a warning the boy could be an off-ice nightmare if he behaves anything like the guy he idolizes (yeah, i used 'Merican spelling for idolised).
DeletePerfect ending to a non-playoff season.
ReplyDeleteMake the leaf, leafools and the SFU eat shit.
Go away bob cock, go away.
Powerful looking at centre with his filled-in build - like KidKo will be in two years. This could mean Dano and Domini will make four top three centres on the team next season. A helluva turnaround in fortunes at Centre in just one year.
DeleteMinimax will end up on the wing eventually, he's better suited for that and can still drive the offence.
DeleteMaxPac finished the year with 22G, 40 pts and a -13. His new "powerhouse" team finished with three less points than the one he left, albeit in the playoffs.

EAP wearing #25 ... hope he is as successful as his predecessors Jacques Lemaire and Vinnie Damphousse.
ReplyDeleteA hattie for the Poehl Dancer. Nice one. CHL wasntna wall but played well. Now let's all pray for the fucking Broons to kick leaf ass...

thats a Lapdance to you EAP PD PDEAP Poehl Dancing Eadger Allen Poe we could call him raven for short, because cask of amontenllo would be to long.
ReplyDeleteWait till he finds out he is now covered by communist health care. That is an interesting question what kind of health plan do NHL players have?
Gchuck: 19G, 41 pts, -19
ReplyDeleteDomini: 28G, 72 pts, +20
this team needs a player like gCHuck, a big time big game sniper.
Deletemy guy Aurther, makes me think of Dudley Moore, I dub thee 10. He is the first player since gCHuck to score as many goals or something. Take the goalscorer leave the cannoli.

Yeah, bullshit Air Transat midnight departures, fuck that. Same thing happened to us, midnight turned to 2:00am which led to 6:30am Halifax arrival.
DeleteThat sounds very familiar. And 4 effing flights leaving Varadero in the space of an hour. Chaos.

Co-Leader again after 10...
DeleteRan out for Chinese as we have no food in the house. Happy to see he got it back on track...damn as I type this he puts his 2nd in the bunker on 14.
DeleteCertainly starting to get the itch to play again!
Nice sand save. Wild 4 birdies followed by 4 bogies followed by 4 birdies, with only 2 pars sprinkled in there.
DeleteSadly I guess it's fitting to be talking golf now.
Dollar Store bergy's favourite sport. His teams have played in April 5 out of 7 years he's been at the helm. Outstanding.
DeleteGreat win for the young man. Happy to see he has more finish than the team he cheers for.
