  1. Just thought I'd throw up a quick new thread to take us through the draft and towards the Free Agency non-Frenzy.

  2. Nice one Saint, Pad! I like #19 carrying #10. Didn't the pocket Rocket have 11? Nothing against Luke Richardson, but Big Bird consulting the CH to his 11th ring would certainly be sweet. MB's ego might not be able to take it though.

    1. Yeah and I'm quite certain the Pocket won all of his as a player. I think Robinson won 6 or 7 as a player.

The Pocket Rocket won 11 as a player, unprecedented and never to be equaled. Beliveau and Cournoyer won 10 as players. The Big Bird won 6 in 1973, 1976-79 and 1986 as a player and one as head coach with Crazy Lou's Devils in 2000 I think. The other 3 as assistant coach in other places.

Montreal will host the 2020 NHL Amateur Draft. I hope there is a better pure wool player than LeBrow in that draft available. Alexis Lafreniere is considered the No. 1 pick ... will the Habs tank next year to get a crack at this kid or can Geoff Molson pay enough dough to buttman to "win" the lottery for 2020??

  4. Nice work St. Pad.

Hope there's some action going onto/during the Draft.

    2. 6'4" RW, shoots Right, just coming off his entry level 3-year contract. Other RW on our roster right now include KidA, GI Finn, SSR, Fiver, Weal, and CHip. None of those first five I listed are players a sane GM would want to part with, unless the skill differential is huge.

      Delete
    3. his upside is at least above GI finn

    4. Corey Perry on rebuilt knees, another available RW, could get him for a year, Team Canada teammate of BBQ and TFS. --SiM

  7. Not watching the awards but on in the background and one of the classiest, our very own TFS surprises the young man once more on stage. What a night for the kid. Hugs from Carey and a SI swimsuit model. And a trip to next years all star game, which is really biilt for kids now so perfect. And TFS should be there.

    Erik Karlsson - overpaid.

    Kevin Hayes - WAY overpaid.

It is nuts, GM's spending like drunken sailors in a cathouse. But, the Habs have no high-end talent to speak of so if they want to dance they have to pay the fiddler. If bbb stands pat the Habs are a lottery team again next year. No improvement on the PP and that mediocre D means a repeat of 2018-19.

    ReplyDelete
  13. If only one thing happens at the draft, I hope there is somebody in the media that cares enough about the Habs to track down that woman and ask her how she feels about the KK pick from last year now.

Offer sheet? Fuck midget marner --- Mikko Rantanen, 6-4 215 lbs, that's the guy to throw a boatload of money at. bbb needs to pull a burkie -- call up Joe Sakic and say : I'm doing it so, wanna make a deal? Drouin a 2020 1st rounder (lottery protected) and any spare parts Slick Joe wants. Yeah!!

I boycotted the Draft last year 'cause I was so pissed off at the dumpster diver and Molson ... I'll probably tune in tonight and have a few.

The new Expos? I don't know if that would be enough to entice me back to baseball or not. Maybe, I've lost interest in NASCAR which has gotten extremely boring. Other than Daytona and Talladega most races are dull as dish water. Hockey, NFL football and the major golf tournaments are about all that interest me nowadays.

With his trade to the ultra-boring Devils from the merely dull Preds, poor PFK has been swallowed up by conservatism, alas there is no place for a player with his elite sense of dynamism and flair in the NHL. I liked him 'cause he was a bruin-killer. We'll get to see him more often now that he's back in the East. Well, if we can stand to watch the Devils. Maybe Jack Hughes and PK will make them bearable.

bbb flipping picks like a kid flipping burgers at Micky D's. Herb Tarlek must be building up good will with western GMs Rob Blake and Doug Wilson... all former d-men like himself. Must be a fraternity thing.

I predict he will not only be the first Hab to win the Rocket Richard, he will be the first player ever who will not have to raise the trophy for it to be over his head.

As for the rest of our picks I am unbeeindruckt. Last year we got two players who belonged in the first round. This year we cant even be bothered to pick two players in the second round. Of course look at how all those picks panned out, the only one playing is Leko and he is still work in progress. And I still have hopes for Meat.

Both networks led with that story and each went in depth on how and why it happened and just mentioned the PK trase and showed his instagram video. Sick fucks indeed.

Like Steve I am somewhat underwhelmed by this draft. A mediocre regular season finish leaves you with a mediocre position in the Draft. Meh, this one was all about re-stocking the cupboards with maybes and wannabes, just like everyone else. I still say a smallish team like the Habs can't win 4 rounds of playoff hockey. If a tough bunch like the dirtbag broons are beat to a pulp at the end, how are a team of undersized waterbugs going to survive? It's all a mystery to me.

  119. My friend rides a bicylce. He lives in a non white zone but has no fear. Today he comes up beside a Mercedes CLS CLS 550 4Matic 2013 Guide Auto | Ray Donovan. So I tap on the window and the 22 year old Iw would say was CHarlie open it a crack. I axe him, are you Ray Donavan, he say no. I say well your driving his car.

Second stop some person of colour is washing down their lawn furniture. I pull up and say, its not going to get any bigger, man comes over and says what did you say, I say watering it is not going to make it bigger, he cracks up, I ride away.

  120. My feeling is that we are going to need a new sewage plant because we drafted a lot of shit.
Hey I am just joking but it was a line I could not resist and in every bit of comedy is truth/

I'm being sarcastic as well most of the time. I think ol' bergy, dressed like Herb Tarlek, told Trevor Timmins: "Listen Trevor, I do my best work dumpster diving for 4th line dudes and AHL defencemen so get one good player and take a chance on some riff raff that may have a shot at those positions so I don't have to pay too much down the road."

Trevor: "Gotcha covered Boss, I know of at least 9 of them..."

      Bazinga!!

  121. So I tried posting a few times over the weekend - was following the draft via Twitter (unsurprisingly the UK didn't show much interest in covering it). And I have read the comments here too - Almost Double Ice Cream BTW!

So the Habs take another shmurf - albeit one who can apparently score goals. Lots of LHD a Russian, a Swede and a few others I have never heard of. Twitter likes how they drafted. Best line I read all weekend was "I can't wait to watch CC and KK on the PP" Our glorious Moeman tweeted his support for PFK, which I loved and having him in Jersey will bring him into Montreal more frequently next season too...Now we wait to see if BBB trades up for someone. Gotta admit I don't really understand the trading down of draft picks but that's cause I'm not a stats guy. Hockey is played on the ice...by nippy little shrimpos apparently...Oh - and BBQ!

    1. I read a lot too, K3X, and one dynamic missing about the argument Martin St. Louis was short but effective, is that he was not surrounded by OTHER undersized players. This is why Caulfield is a good pick, but difficult to fit in with so many other short wingers. Suzuki should be bait for our immediate left D need, I hope.--SiM

  122. If he ever goes to the K, we'll be able to call him Jayden St. Ruble --SiM

  123. Looks like Simmonds is going to be available. Had an off year, but he's a player I've always wanted on the team to add some toughness, to go along with his skills. But my main point for posting this is I saw this headline at TSN:

Poile says Simmonds won't be back with Predators

And below the headline is a 3 minute video pack of Subban.

Um...that's a different black player just so you sfu guys know. And I know that their videos don't always match the story exactly, but this just looks bad imho.
