Love me some big ol' boats from the 70s and 80s. My dad had a 1975 Dodge Monaco with a 318 and he always drove about 10km/h below the speed limit. Some smooth ride though. Sadly we had a Ford Grenada by the time I was learning to drive.
Jealous of a co-worker. She and her BF are leaving work after lunch and starting the 12 hour drive to Montreal this afternoon and taking in the first 2 home games. Young people, pfft.
Did someone say Back to Back? Check out the newly released "Dead Man's Pop" Matt Wallace mix of Back to Back by the, well Matts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2n2qMeljAA
I drove a 1970 Buick Electra with the 455 Wildcat engine in it. Man, what a fricken' boat. Fully loaded with every available option at the time, it even had a vacuum gauge showing engine performance. It would go to zero if you stomped the throttle. It belonged to one of my father's friends, he needed somebody to drive him to the liquor store 'cause he was already drunk. I was 17 at the time, only to happy to oblige!!
Anybody watching this game tonight? I'm undecided, still basking in the afterglow of last Saturday's come from behind victory over the Evil Empire aka rogers/hnit/bell/ml$e.
I am watCHing. I gotta give some props to Buffalo, a really great city full of nice people. The biggest Polish Population in the USA outside Chicago, and the only place that celebrates Dingus day in the USA.
Following protocol I will not wish anyone a happy Yom Kippur. I have a few remorse but did it my way.
Great period for Habs special teams, a PP and a shorty. GI Finn with a couple and Nature Boy's 1st point. OK, so I'm boycotting rogers leafnet and watching on rds, wtf is gag-non blathering about, not enough pure wool on the team? Fuck off idiot. What is this, the reseau des separatistes?
Also: he had his chance to return as GM and rebuild the team, but he himself advised Geoff Molson to hire Bergevin, so WTF is he doing throwing shade on his pick on Tout le Monde Va Parle, tabarnak!
I noticed a great many red sweaters int the lower bowl in Buffalo, I suspect there are lots and lots of Habs fans in southern Ontario. To the detriment of the Evil Empire. Suck it leafools.
Terrible slashing call at the end. Tough break on the winner with a good blocked shot right back to barfalo player, bing, bang in the net. The Eichel rush goal is on Blocaid, but he had some nice saves to help retain the loser point.
I wonder if Bergy was keeping an eye on Risto like the other teams' scouts? He did make a beauty of a pass to Armia.
some early observations from the first two matches (i missed the opener vs those jerks) 1. this team STILL doesnt know how to play defense; aka lowering CHocula's shell, playing shutdown... 2. BBQ is aging very badly. ex: not being able to anticipate or adjust to when he is going to be beat 3. only 1 game sample, so this may be unfair, but kincaid is a big step down from TFS. (he woulda saved at the OT winner plus at least 1 of the others) 4. army keeps proving he's got delicate hands. n8 looked really good giving that sweet pass for army's SHG, but i think army is wasted on the 4th line. he should be playing with offensive guys like LB and nature boy.
i shouldnt be too hard on the guys. still undefeated eh?
that refereeing was so suspect it has been investigated by FBI profilers, what they found is a serial cooler (you know Vegas style) is stalking the habs, name starts with B. Even more alarming he seems to no longer need a phone, he has vulcan mind melding tech now.
It was a bad call but I'm not one to blame refs generally. Gotta kill those ones. Penalties, not refs. Fact is this team has given up 14 goals in 3 games. Nearly a 5 GAA. While we can probably agree that it's an exciting brand of hockey to watch, you ain't going too far with that kind of D & G. A team like our hated broons, who have given up 4 goals in the same amount of games are much less interesting to watch, but built for making it to and having success in the playoffs. We need a happy medium, and that starts with shoring up the D. Maybe they just need more time under Bergy. 3 to 8 years Molson tells us this team's window is looking good. Must be true.
I have not watched ep one yet, it was fucking incredible the first seasons, now it has settled down into entertianment. For U TWD deserters, its better.
saint paddy: 3-8 yrs?! sorry bro, but r u nuts?!? this is the new lnh! there is no more traditional 'window' anymore! anybody, any yr has a chance so long as they get 98 freaking points! pleeeeeease dont forget already what stL did and what we coulda/shoulda/woulda. if u have a flying frenchman, u have a flying chance. the most important thing in this new era is timing... and that largely still equates to goalkeeping. somehow, i dont expect TFS to have that long a tenure left with us with ron francis in charge of awakening(releasing?) the kraken.
Hey man I'm just quoting Molson. He said 3-8 & seems perfectly fine with that, meaning in the 11-16 year of MB's tenure, we might win a cup. It's actually beyond sad that he thinks fans would be OK with saying we might win a cup sometime beyond the next decade when mb was hired.
A little bit of both. I'm getting a head start on Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday (early, but only time we could get everybody together) by making my cranberry sauce. Got everything else, new potatoes, carrots, squash and some old bread for my stuffing. Pies are from Costco, I'm getting to old to do everything. Pumpkin and apple.
I might check out the news networks after the Leaders debate for the aftermath review. I still don't know whom I'm voting for. No one has said anything that helps me out in any way. I don't qualify for anything I guess.
Their D is holding. Brady has started looking his age the past few games. But I argue the 'flukey'bit of that statement. Special teams and D have been winning games as much as offence, and that's the 2nd blocked punt for a td this year. Good game though, need James White to get in the endzone, got a close fantasy matchup and I'm sitting at 2-3.
omg u guys.... im talking about this! https://www.habseyesontheprize.com/2019/4/3/18293020/canadiens-vs-lightning-recap-result-score-highlights-habs-stay-alive-with-4-2-victory-lehkonen-domi
it was OUR boys who inflicted the fatal wound which ruined TB's season! with this stubborn bunch, any night, any team, anything is possible!
Habs couldn't match the Wings' energy. Couldn't complete many passes, no puck control, won few battles. It's almost as if they played a high-octane game against a tough opponent just the night before, and the opposition was rested. This is a tough division. Holy shit.
The Habs game ... meh ... I'll use the SFU/leaf excuse, 2nd game of b2b, travel, blah blah blah. The defence was horrid, Weber looks his age, the rest of them looked like what they are #7/8 d-men.
The Pats covered the spread but if my Giants had been somewhat healthy they would have made it closer. Their D played 3/4 of that game, bet they are tired today. The rebuild continues, they have a RB, I think they have a QB, now they need an elite WR but not like headcase OBJ. At least they are not Washington.
Looking at the schedule, this team should have a record along the lines of 4-6-3 @ the end of October. I was thinking 3 wins but maybe another ot/so win in there. Hope I have severely underestimated this group.
I wouldn't hit the panic button yet. Long ways to go and buttman's parity reigns supreme. The defence does need to get it's shit together soon though or they will get buried in the standings. On a side note, leafools and SFU getting nervous, Blabcock on the hotseat, Doofus and Shamahan with blank stares recently as their D gets lit up even more than the Dollar Store guy.
I am hitting the panic button like Justin Trudeau hits the costume closet. I need a new look thats going to win, and I got his back. Tear down the mission if we are going to stay alive, burn down this rink to save the franchise. We are going nowhere, nohow no way. We want to win the cup or we want to make the playoff? Win the fucking cup, just one drink from the loving cup and a poor man is drunk. BBQ first rounder and second, KidA same story, Dish first rounder, trade trade trade like all you have is e trade and no food but money.
Lemmy!

Radar is in for Snowy tonight
ReplyDeleteGI Finn! Shorty, with Thompson Twin assisting. 1-1
ReplyDeleteSIM you talk alot on here
ReplyDeleteGI FINN AGAIN! PPG#3 on the season I believe.
ReplyDeletehey Tb, you noticed! Good feed, props to you! Now to get the little one into bed before the 2nd
His assist on the second one is the first CH point for Nature Boy too!
DeleteGreat period for Habs special teams, a PP and a shorty. GI Finn with a couple and Nature Boy's 1st point. OK, so I'm boycotting rogers leafnet and watching on rds, wtf is gag-non blathering about, not enough pure wool on the team? Fuck off idiot. What is this, the reseau des separatistes?

ReplyDeleteback in the 80s you could by tickets at the gate for around 20 bucks good seats. I saw a couple of habs games and Mario Lemiux with Pens.
DeleteThat was an incredibly chintzy call on Tuna
ReplyDeleteFeichel
ReplyDeleteBad time to take a bad penalty, Weal.
ReplyDeleteI think CHariot may be more of a wagon. Feichel is good
ReplyDeleteHe was looking over-matched in his own end again.
DeleteKilled it! and BloCHaid with some big saves.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a shooting gallery for the LeSabres, Block-Aid holding them in it...
ReplyDeleteKid KOKER
ReplyDeleteKidKoho!!!! 2nd career road goal
ReplyDeleteCHairots back on fire
ReplyDeleteCHariot of Fire!! GYFHG!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGood pressure boys! Hang on.
ReplyDeleteIncredible hockey for this early in the season. Two fast teams already playing hungry hockey.
ReplyDeleteHANG ON BOYS!!!!
ReplyDeleteBBQ is not yet lit however
ReplyDeleteAnother chintzy fucking penalty. 35 seconds to play
ReplyDeleteThree road games, three two-goal comebacks to assure at least a point in the standings. Good grit.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cheap fucking call on Danno, that had to be a SFU call.
ReplyDeletewell earned loser point
ReplyDeleteFuck it. but good game boys. The zebras owned it in the end. Four points to come home to against three good teams is not too shabby.
ReplyDeleteNHL refereeing is shit.
DeleteAre the Red Wings in town tonight? Are they aware of Chez Paree and the 3:00 a.m. closing time?

DeleteLots of great comments. Tiring day yesterday so fell asleep half-way through the game.
ReplyDeleteHome opener tonight BITCHES !
This Honka honka burnin' love reminds me a lot of Mr Robot.
ReplyDeleteI don't know much about him, but I think we need him.
I have not watched ep one yet, it was fucking incredible the first seasons, now it has settled down into entertianment. For U TWD deserters, its better.
DeleteCHinese food
ReplyDeleteCalifornia Chardonnay
Butter tarts
Splash of Bajan rum or Kentucky Bourbon
G Y F H G !
I'm hoping they give up 3 goals or less. That would be a positive.

ReplyDeleteGI Finn again!
ReplyDeleteDomini! PP goal!!
ReplyDeleteSo far my expert analysis is, the goaltending sucks and the defence sucks. That's all I got. Over to the football game.
ReplyDeleteMy Giants are holding their own in Foxboro. A flukey TD by the Brady Bunch is the difference after 1st quarter.
ReplyDeleteTheir D is holding. Brady has started looking his age the past few games. But I argue the 'flukey'bit of that statement. DeleteTampa Bay putting the boots to the "best leaf team ever", have they cancelled the parade yet?
ReplyDeleteUp a converted td to a fg. I laugh, but also worry about when our boys play TB.
Deletehey st. paddy: time for me to rip on you again.
Deletewhat was the score the last time they played?
I couldn't tell you man, but I know 4 games in and they haven't kept their goals against under 4. That ain't gonna win you shit.
