Wait, wrong sport/team. This is about the team I've given up on.
Still thought I should do my part and mix it up as I've been AWOL this season. So start over. Defence first. Win some boring 2-1 games. Get back into the playoff picture. Then we'll talk.
Trying hard now
It's so hard now
Trying hard now
Trying hard now
Gettin' scored on now
Coming on, now
Gettin' scored on now
Gettin' scored on now
Gonna cry now
Flyin' high now
Gonna cry, cry, cry
Gonna cry, cry, cry
This streak isn't on 1 player. It's on all of ya's!
Olaf called up. Hope he plays. Defence first is the key and he can't hurt.
ReplyDeleteIt can't hurt I suppose. I just don't want to see Radar out there today. And Dish needs to step it up.
DeleteI am starting to think the problem is November itself, particularly all those cheesey moustaches. I know they are instruments for Fucking cancer, but I notice the more they grow out, the dumber everyone CH plays.
ReplyDeleteGo ahead and tell me correlation does not imply causation (I got some Omega 3 pills for that), but until proven otherwise, that's my theory, and sadly, we ain't getting more than two points this weekend, and only if the Flyers flop tonight.
Yep, thought the same.
Deletetwo minutes for saying Flyers instead of Phucktards
Deletemy bad. I will not pull a Domini and get extra minutes. Sitting in the box thinking of my previous life as Stick Boy
DeleteDefinition of insanity, on ice.
ReplyDeleteI have Carey Price in my Yahoo Fantasy Hockey league team, I've benched him and am only going with one goalie for the time being, he's costing me points with the high GA numbers (-1 for a GA). I'll probably get burned by this move as Price wins by a shutout this afternoon, but hey, I'll take a bullet for the team to get a win! On second thought.... nah.
ReplyDeleteClipped without edits from Sportsnet
DeleteThe world’s most handsomely paid goalie, Carey Price, has a salary of $15 million and a save percentage of .897.
Noice.
ReplyDelete3PM start.
ReplyDeleteFlyers won big yesterday with their boy wonder goalie Hart in nets. Habs did not skate but took some Hockey-sense 101 theory class with Prof. CJv2 instead. My bet is TFS plays today, even though BloCHaid should, but I bet their thinking is TFS will be sharp in both, with the later start time tomorrow. TFS is not meant to be playing this much though. Seems nothing was learned from the past two seasons on that front.
ReplyDeleteY'all can praise (or blame) me as I just shaved the beard/staCHe.
ReplyDeleteJust for the record since Jacobs fired julien:
ReplyDeleteBruins since Cassidy took over bench in Feb. 2017:
135-55-27, .684
And they got rid of most of their scumbag players, except for ratface, and integrated some younger players into their system. julien is old school, the only reason he got a job was because Quebec demands it. Time for him to go and hand the reins over to Ducharme. What have they got to lose? Does bergevin really want to pick 3rd overall again this June at the Bell Center? I don't think so.
Every time Julien is fired I feel badly for him. Remember when Lamoriello canned him a few days before the playoffs, and then took over behind the bench himself, only to watch his Devils bow out in, I think, the second round.
Deletesuper soldiers, U think the CIA HQ is in Langly, no the big dig was not overbudget without consequce.
Delete@Engels says Radar and Kadillak are out, Kale-iflower and Olaf in.
ReplyDeleteAnd TFS rests today for BloCHaid. So we'll know they're completely in synch with my line of thinking if the follow moeman's lead and all come out with clean-shaven upper lips. GYFHG! JFW!!
ReplyDeleteCripes, do I have to watch this mess? I'm home sooo.....I'm so torn 🙁

Wasn't planning on watching but other plans fell through...so since there is a new D man to check out, I'm in. For starters at least.
ReplyDeleteGYMFHG!
Boom !
ReplyDeleteDecent first.
ReplyDeleteI just remembered last time these 2 played, Habs out penaltied Philthy 7-0 & lost 3-2 in OT. I fear a rash of penalties may begin in the 2nd.
ReplyDeleteThe Fried man with the creepy stache tweeted out that SNET was showing 'bonus coverage' of the Habs/Flyers this afternoon. Mighty big of them.
ReplyDeleteFucking leafanboy.

Ack.
ReplyDeleteYeah ... ack.
ReplyDeleteWell Well well we do not seem to know how to start the tank.
ReplyDeleteI do not want to trade the future for a present playoff. This team is 3 or 4 players away from contending and they all could be property of the CH today.
ReplyDeleteRon Francis released a statement, saying he "briefed ownership" kn the Peter's incident the players brought to his attention - in direct contradiction to owner Karmznos in an interview with Seattle Times reporter Geoff Baker three days ago. Hmmmm --SiM
ReplyDeleteSteak! Beauty fake by Nature too! GYFHG --SiM
ReplyDeleteThat was the best PK they've had all season. #smallvictories --SiM
ReplyDeleteSure Clod. Keep Weal and Cousins as your first PP unit. We'll see how far that gets you.
ReplyDeleteAnd what the fuck is wrong with Dish? Among everything else he goes offside in OT which ultimately ended in Domi and Kincaid looking foolish on the winning goal.
Happily will be watching football instead tomorrow.
Olaf had only three shofts all third period. Dish, BBQ, Kale-iflower, and CHariot of Eggs all double-shifted essentially from the point Meat was side-lined in the second period. Domini looked a bit soft on the OT goal but the Phuctatd made z wicked good deke to get around him. --SiM
DeleteFact is only BBQ and Dish are top four material. we have 2 a and 3 a centers. If TFS does not play like TFS we lose. In 15 years its been the same story. We need to CHange the narrative.
ReplyDeleteTruth. bargain bin keeps dumpster diving and gathering up 7 and 8 defencemen and hoping to get top 4 guys. It's not working. The 'experts' say help is on the way with Romanov, Brooks, etc., but by the time these guys are ready Weber and Petry will be long gone and whoever the GM is will still be searching for defensive help.
DeleteWill Taylor Hall help? Maybe, but he Habs will still be spinning their wheels this season.
Marc Bergevin has been 're-tooling' his team for seven (7) long years. Has there been any improvement? No. The NHL is a results orientated business and for the Montreal Canadiens, there haven't been any. I know I'm getting tired of watching a team that loses more than it wins. Anyone else?
That's a big 10-4 my friend. Happy to watch football instead tonight and that is a dirty shame when games v the bruins have been must see tv forever. Until now.
DeleteI'm going to check out tonight's game ... and try to watch objectively, without any emotion, if that's possible. If it gets out of hand though I'm out. Going to be some alcohol involved methinks.
DeleteI don't blame you. But I will say, having watched all the second and third periods of yesterday's game, that our guys played the right way to win, and if it wasn't for some truly spectacular goaltending by Elliott (who rightly feels the heat with young Hart playing so well), we would've scored on the PP and won in regulation. I agree that Cousins and Weal on first leg of the PP is a head-scratcher, but they moved the puck around expertly. Just like when we had gCHuck out there, it seems the options for the PP are either the wicked finishers, or the ones who play the fuck out of the PP in theory, only to hopelessly swat pucks at goalie pads and chestplates. Nature is both, or working towards that, and he showed it yesterday.
DeleteThe Broons will be tough to beat tonight, especially without Meat, Druid, LB, and with Dish and BBQ having played so many tough minutes yesterday. But if they tell themselves to forget that they haven't put up a win in seven, and just play their game, they will be competitive.
Yesterday, GI Finn and Steak, Lip and Leko, Kid Koho, Nature and Weal Deal looked potent.
My money is on TFS playing to the top of his game tonight. Dano and Leko too. And if they are tied after 60, Habs win.
I’m with SiM on this one
DeleteHeartbreaking losses. Deserved better.
Regardless, must crank it up.

Made my fist Massaman Beef Curry with sweet potato and green beans and it's delicious! I'll be adding that to the regular rotation for sure, as good as the Thai takeout we get and a hell of a lot cheaper.
ReplyDeleteBoy these middle football games are blowouts. Good for my fantasy team as I will squeak into the last playoff spot. Good thing considering I gave up picks 1,2,3,6 in next year's draft.
Since the games I can see are a wash, guess I'll check out the Habs until the Pats start...sounds like half the team has the flu so hope they cough lots on the Texans.
Go Habs.
Mind sharing that recipe? I need something new in my rotation. I bbq'ed pork chops tonight, with potatoes and fresh cucumber and pickles. Nothing better tasting than meat over an open flame...
Deletemoe has my email.

ReplyDeletejust watched ep one of the Malandoiorian. Think I will take in another before checking on how far into the gates of hell we have descended. Watched first ep of season 4 Man in the high castle, last season was hard to top so maybe this will lit up in another ep or two.
ReplyDeleteGI Finn again!
ReplyDeleteThis Pee Pee brought to you by Buttman, who could have predicted this, ME!
ReplyDeleteI purchased a bottle of Laphroaig single malt scotch this week ... it tastes really, really good.
ReplyDeleteThat's it. Boston way better. I hope bargain bin enjoys his nice shiny lottery pick in June.
ReplyDeleteI think that's enough Nick Cousins for me.
ReplyDeleteThere's no sense in dumping on Price, he's never had much playing in front of him. Saku could tell him all about that.
ReplyDeleteMan, they can't even count right. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteThe look of the players on the bench reminds me of the leaf bench in Pittsburgh just before blabcock was canned. Eight losses in a row now for julien, a couple more should do it I would think.
ReplyDeleteIt's not on CJv2. No true #2 D, and LB and Druid were compensating for it I think. No replacement for SSR either. I am looking at the GM here. --SiM
DeleteOh, I agree 100% about the GM. But it's highly unlikely he takes the fall, julien will, it's just a matter of time. But, the lack of talent on this team is astounding. It's Year 7 of the ... whatever it is. Yo'd think we'd see some progress at some point.
DeleteI think my next game to watch will be Colorado, MacKinnon is some player.
I dunno. Maybe when you're not deep and two of your top wingers get long-term injuries on the same day and you plug the holes with fourth-liners, it ain't enough. Too bad they don't have any cap space to go out and get a... er, hmmm
ReplyDelete--SiM
Ouf.
ReplyDeleteGeoff, call Bobby Smith.
I sent 2 questons to Brian Wilde, thought he might actually give me a yes, no or go furk yourself, but nothing. Because these are the 2 questions I ask myself year after year. And moe, I know you can't speak for all Francophones, but I would seriously like to know what the majority think of question 2. I just really have no idea.
Delete"1. Do u think Molson would consider replacing himself as prez? Say with Bobby Smith for example. 2. Do you know if Francophone fans actually care if gm/coach are Quebecois or is this purely Franco media driven?"
I fear this losing streak is not over yet. Tuesday night the Habs will be celebrating a bunch of former Captains in one of their famous 'we were great once' ceremonies. Usually, it inspires the opposition to spoil said ceremony with a road win. The NY Islanders are returning from a west coast swing and may have jet lag so there is a chance, at least, for Montreal to snap out of this funk. I'm not holding my breath though. I still foresee losses to Colorado and the Rags this week. Last night, they looked like a defeated team. They played well enough but I think deep down, they know they don't have the talent to beat the good teams on a regular basis. I think they are still years away from that.
ReplyDelete@Saint Paddy, with the current political climate in Quebec with two separatist parties in control, Molson has no choice even though the Canadines are regarded as an anglo institution. If the Nordiques ever return those entities would probably turn their focus there and leave the Habs alone. Maybe.
As a French-Canadian Habs fan, I probably speak for a certain minority.
ReplyDeleteI totally understand the need to converse with part of the fan base and some of the media in both languages.
It doesn't have to be every manager, coach, player.
Get someone with decent bilingual capabilities, like Bobby Smith, who actually enjoyed talking in French.
DGMB has done well of late with filling the prospect pool. Let that be his legacy. (although I think Timmins is the one who deserves praise).
I can see CJv2 taking the hit if 2-3 more losses happen. I think Kirk would also be let go.
Is Ducharme the next obvious coach?
I'd go get Eric Desjardins for the D.
Saku is in town tomorrow. Someone hide his passport.
Good stuff moe. IF they let clod go, I think they might promote Joel Bouchard instead of Ducharme with an 'interim' tag. But who knows. As you know, I am all in on 'Booby' Smith. :)
DeletePretty sure Ducharme is the heir apparent to succeed jabba. I could totally see Bouchard as the new GM. Captain Kirk will be gone too, I'm not sure about Luke. I would welcome Bobby Smith with open arms.
DeleteI know two coaches for sure that won't be coaching in Montreal or any where else for a while, if ever. I don't have to name them.
In defence of Herb, he has made some great trades. Some are on the bubble, particularly with A players but his b cast has been A+/. I am not ready to ditCH him. You win by getting free agents or tanking, we have done neither. His biggest weakness now addressed was his clown friends in places of infulence/

Habs: No star power. No presence. The once-great franchise lacks all manner of CH mystique and greatness. Mercy. It makes one long for John Kordic.
Who was the last Hab who offered that presence where you thought they could take over a game or will them to victory? It wasn't Pacioretty, I thought PK could have been but nope, not meant to be. Koivu and Kovalev? For a short period perhaps. I think it goes back to the dismantling of the 1993 team when they traded away players like Roy, Muller, Desjardins and Schneider. Even players like Damphousse and Carbonneau retained some of the mystique. There's been a large void since about 1998. That's a long fucking time. Maybe it would tale a player like Lafreniere to ignite something like that again. The hockey gods would have to finally smile on this former great franchise that seems content to rest on it's (past) laurels and gift the Habs a lottery win in 2020. McDavid and Matthews were gifted to a couple of woe begone franchises. It's our turn.
BlocKaid on waivers ... Primeau on the way?
ReplyDeleteWith this defence? I hope not.
Deleteso what you are saying is his nick should not be optimus prime? How about lamb and lamb to the slaughter. I think he is going to aquit himself well, the others guys dont seem to have NHL jelly.
DeleteI've said it before. I never condone 'tanking' and doubt any professional is going to lose on purpose in hopes of a teenage saviour. That said, management and coaching can subtly 'try to not win' by making small moves. So that said:
ReplyDeleteDernier pour Lafreniere?
I should check twitter. If it's not trending yet it should be a thing. Whatever that means.
Meat's out at least two weeks now too. Need some kind of shot in the arm. --SiM
ReplyDeleteIn the post above the final pics, I blamed "all of ya's" (which is proper grammar where I come from) and posted pics of Olivias. These fine ladies can't be blamed for anything but being awesome and looking great. Sorry to have heaped them in with this team. They deserve better.
ReplyDeleteThe beautiful pics are always a positive.

compared to winning being a success at tanking is so easy, almost every GM can do it well.
ReplyDeleteI am pretty sure it was called the Leftovers, a damm fine TV series that tried really hard and was fun to watch but meant nothing. This is our team. Embrace the suck knowing it with birth a new dynasty. Mcsplooge may not be perfect but he has this right, to win the cup you need seven elements, right now we only have a hope of one, elite goaltending. You cant trade or buy your way to the other, it has to be earned by spending time bitcoin mining the universe for elite talent, and managing to collect that threw the draft without destroying the hearts of those already playing. This takes great strippers, and although I am far from an expert, Montreal IMHO leads North America. Plan the parade,
ReplyDeleteI wish I could put into words what I am thinking. Pasternacks goal was like the first torpedo bomber destroying an aircraft carrier. The goalie is the aircraft carrier of the NHL and is now obsolete. Just hang a sock and play 6 on six, cause the goalie is really obsolete. You laugh look at Georg Parros scorring on a SUMO wrestler, and extrapolate.
ReplyDeleteFiring Babcock sure perked the leaf up. Calgary seems to be playing better after turfing Peters. Last year the Blues fired Mike Yeo and hired Craig Berube, yet firing Julien won't help the Habs? Ok then. I guess Montreal doesn't have any players whatsoever then.
