Just WIN 1 game FFS! - B2B - Philly Special & a visit to the Gahden

We won't get Foles'ed Again!
Wait, wrong sport/team. This is about the team I've given up on.

Still thought I should do my part and mix it up as I've been AWOL this season.  So start over. Defence first. Win some boring 2-1 games. Get back into the playoff picture. Then we'll talk.

Trying hard now
It's so hard now
Trying hard now
Gettin' scored on now
Coming on, now
Gettin' scored on now
Gonna cry now
Flyin' high now
Gonna cry, cry, cry

This streak isn't on 1 player. It's on all of ya's!

  2. I am starting to think the problem is November itself, particularly all those cheesey moustaches. I know they are instruments for Fucking cancer, but I notice the more they grow out, the dumber everyone CH plays.

Go ahead and tell me correlation does not imply causation (I got some Omega 3 pills for that), but until proven otherwise, that's my theory, and sadly, we ain't getting more than two points this weekend, and only if the Flyers flop tonight.

I have Carey Price in my Yahoo Fantasy Hockey league team, I've benched him and am only going with one goalie for the time being, he's costing me points with the high GA numbers (-1 for a GA). I'll probably get burned by this move as Price wins by a shutout this afternoon, but hey, I'll take a bullet for the team to get a win! On second thought.... nah.

  5. Flyers won big yesterday with their boy wonder goalie Hart in nets. Habs did not skate but took some Hockey-sense 101 theory class with Prof. CJv2 instead. My bet is TFS plays today, even though BloCHaid should, but I bet their thinking is TFS will be sharp in both, with the later start time tomorrow. TFS is not meant to be playing this much though. Seems nothing was learned from the past two seasons on that front.

Just for the record since Jacobs fired julien:

Bruins since Cassidy took over bench in Feb. 2017:
    135-55-27, .684

And they got rid of most of their scumbag players, except for ratface, and integrated some younger players into their system. julien is old school, the only reason he got a job was because Quebec demands it. Time for him to go and hand the reins over to Ducharme. What have they got to lose? Does bergevin really want to pick 3rd overall again this June at the Bell Center? I don't think so.

    1. Every time Julien is fired I feel badly for him. Remember when Lamoriello canned him a few days before the playoffs, and then took over behind the bench himself, only to watch his Devils bow out in, I think, the second round.

Truth. bargain bin keeps dumpster diving and gathering up 7 and 8 defencemen and hoping to get top 4 guys. It's not working. The 'experts' say help is on the way with Romanov, Brooks, etc., but by the time these guys are ready Weber and Petry will be long gone and whoever the GM is will still be searching for defensive help.

Will Taylor Hall help? Maybe, but he Habs will still be spinning their wheels this season.

Marc Bergevin has been 're-tooling' his team for seven (7) long years. Has there been any improvement? No. The NHL is a results orientated business and for the Montreal Canadiens, there haven't been any. I know I'm getting tired of watching a team that loses more than it wins. Anyone else?

    4. I don't blame you. But I will say, having watched all the second and third periods of yesterday's game, that our guys played the right way to win, and if it wasn't for some truly spectacular goaltending by Elliott (who rightly feels the heat with young Hart playing so well), we would've scored on the PP and won in regulation. I agree that Cousins and Weal on first leg of the PP is a head-scratcher, but they moved the puck around expertly. Just like when we had gCHuck out there, it seems the options for the PP are either the wicked finishers, or the ones who play the fuck out of the PP in theory, only to hopelessly swat pucks at goalie pads and chestplates. Nature is both, or working towards that, and he showed it yesterday.

The Broons will be tough to beat tonight, especially without Meat, Druid, LB, and with Dish and BBQ having played so many tough minutes yesterday. But if they tell themselves to forget that they haven't put up a win in seven, and just play their game, they will be competitive.

Yesterday, GI Finn and Steak, Lip and Leko, Kid Koho, Nature and Weal Deal looked potent.

My money is on TFS playing to the top of his game tonight. Dano and Leko too. And if they are tied after 60, Habs win.

Boy these middle football games are blowouts. Good for my fantasy team as I will squeak into the last playoff spot. Good thing considering I gave up picks 1,2,3,6 in next year's draft.

I fear this losing streak is not over yet. Tuesday night the Habs will be celebrating a bunch of former Captains in one of their famous 'we were great once' ceremonies. Usually, it inspires the opposition to spoil said ceremony with a road win. The NY Islanders are returning from a west coast swing and may have jet lag so there is a chance, at least, for Montreal to snap out of this funk. I'm not holding my breath though. I still foresee losses to Colorado and the Rags this week. Last night, they looked like a defeated team. They played well enough but I think deep down, they know they don't have the talent to beat the good teams on a regular basis. I think they are still years away from that.

@Saint Paddy, with the current political climate in Quebec with two separatist parties in control, Molson has no choice even though the Canadines are regarded as an anglo institution. If the Nordiques ever return those entities would probably turn their focus there and leave the Habs alone. Maybe.

    ReplyDelete
  37. As a French-Canadian Habs fan, I probably speak for a certain minority.

I totally understand the need to converse with part of the fan base and some of the media in both languages.

It doesn't have to be every manager, coach, player.

Get someone with decent bilingual capabilities, like Bobby Smith, who actually enjoyed talking in French.

DGMB has done well of late with filling the prospect pool. Let that be his legacy. (although I think Timmins is the one who deserves praise).

I can see CJv2 taking the hit if 2-3 more losses happen. I think Kirk would also be let go.

Is Ducharme the next obvious coach?

I'd go get Eric Desjardins for the D.

Saku is in town tomorrow. Someone hide his passport.

    1. Good stuff moe. IF they let clod go, I think they might promote Joel Bouchard instead of Ducharme with an 'interim' tag. But who knows. As you know, I am all in on 'Booby' Smith. :)

Pretty sure Ducharme is the heir apparent to succeed jabba. I could totally see Bouchard as the new GM. Captain Kirk will be gone too, I'm not sure about Luke. I would welcome Bobby Smith with open arms.

I know two coaches for sure that won't be coaching in Montreal or any where else for a while, if ever. I don't have to name them.

Habs: No star power. No presence. The once-great franchise lacks all manner of CH mystique and greatness. Mercy. It makes one long for John Kordic.

Who was the last Hab who offered that presence where you thought they could take over a game or will them to victory? It wasn't Pacioretty, I thought PK could have been but nope, not meant to be. Koivu and Kovalev? For a short period perhaps. I think it goes back to the dismantling of the 1993 team when they traded away players like Roy, Muller, Desjardins and Schneider. Even players like Damphousse and Carbonneau retained some of the mystique. There's been a large void since about 1998. That's a long fucking time. Maybe it would tale a player like Lafreniere to ignite something like that again. The hockey gods would have to finally smile on this former great franchise that seems content to rest on it's (past) laurels and gift the Habs a lottery win in 2020. McDavid and Matthews were gifted to a couple of woe begone franchises. It's our turn.

  40. I've said it before. I never condone 'tanking' and doubt any professional is going to lose on purpose in hopes of a teenage saviour. That said, management and coaching can subtly 'try to not win' by making small moves. So that said:

Embrace the suck knowing it with birth a new dynasty. Mcsplooge may not be perfect but he has this right, to win the cup you need seven elements, right now we only have a hope of one, elite goaltending. You cant trade or buy your way to the other, it has to be earned by spending time bitcoin mining the universe for elite talent, and managing to collect that threw the draft without destroying the hearts of those already playing. This takes great strippers, and although I am far from an expert, Montreal IMHO leads North America. Plan the parade,

  46. I wish I could put into words what I am thinking. Pasternacks goal was like the first torpedo bomber destroying an aircraft carrier. Firing Babcock sure perked the leaf up. Calgary seems to be playing better after turfing Peters. Last year the Blues fired Mike Yeo and hired Craig Berube, yet firing Julien won't help the Habs? Ok then. I guess Montreal doesn't have any players whatsoever then.
