Happy Christmas and Happy Endings to everyone. Especially to Moeman and St Pad for keeping this blog alive. I have a very crappy blog and its like climbing Kilimanjaro to make a new post.
In other news JR has been suspend for suggesting hypothetically as a joke he was having a 3 some. First lets just take Seinfield off the air, it is full of hurtful themes and messages that are not funny. Secondly I will have to change my favorite pick up line,"I am married but open to threesomes, can you give me some personal ID to clear this with my wife"
Merry Christmas Moeman and all FHFers out there. Love the ones you are with and if you can't be good, be good at it. I love every one of you (OK... I admit... I'm a bit pissed but it's later here so tough shit...) Go Habs GO!
Happy Christmas all! He's long gone but yesterday we celebrated the 100th anniversary of my father's birth. He had a rough go, had to leave school at 13 to work in the woods with his father to make more money for the family. At 22 he shipped off to Europe with his best friend to join the Allied forces. He lost his best friend on Juno Beach on D Day. He survived and many years later married my mother at 42, she 16 years his junior. He worked at the base in ammunition disposal and tended bar at the legion while running a small farm with some pigs, cows and chickens and a big garden in order to feed and raise 4 boys. I'm the youngest, born the year he turned 50 and can't imagine at my age having an infant and a 4,5 and 6 year old wreaking havoc around me! All agree he was a good and kind man and can also agree he liked his Black Diamond rum. I aspire to be half as good a person as he, but blame my dislike for rum on him because as a teen, sneaking some of the old BD and drinking it like he did, with just a splash of water got me in trouble and turned me off the stuff, though I can stomach small amounts of good rum these days so raised a couple glasses of Ron Zacapa 23 in his honour last night. Sorry for rambling, up alone waiting for the family to awaken. Good to have FHFriends.
Merry Christmas to all! Getting the bird prepped for cooking this afternoon. I wish you good health and happiness for years to come and a bunch of wins for our Habs. 🦃 🎄
Merry Christmas to all FHFriends! We just got back from delivering presents to my oldest son and his family. It's a pretty low key event in our household nowadays, the youngest guy turns 23 today. I'm just doing a chicken but will have cranberries and dressing just the same. Let's have lots of Habs wins and leaf losses in the new year with the wretched Toronto media's team on the outside looking in come spring!
StP: happy festivus to u and the rest of u jerks! thnx to your daddy for doing that stuff for us overseas eventhough hes right and most of us immigrants dont wear that red flower thing. 26yrs old when he was 42. yeah! thats FHF awesome! what a role model. that means theres still hope for me yet!
... but with the way BBB idiotly views his cup ready squad each yr, your papa's story inspires me to settle for #26 42yrs after their last!
see-ya bytches on saturday!
oh and StP: screw that .500 predition. dont let the bargainbinitis beat u, this team is good, they are young, and with last yr's taste in their mouth, they are hungry. raise your expectations. sweep florida!
Good win for Canada. Didn't see much from Caulfield. Saw Romanov with a big hit and stirring shit up in his game. Gonna like him for sure.
With the draft in Montreal, I wonder if Bergy would give whatever it would take to get Lafreniere. Big gamble as there I no certainty that a player will transition to the big leagues, but interesting to know if the team is along to try anything to finally get that Quebecois star they've been missing for so long. No offence to Drouin.
Druid is angling for that role, and if he picks up where he left off before his wrist injury, it's all his. If not, and if the playoffs are clesrly not happening for this team, it could get very interesting once the trade deadline approaches. --SiM
Lafreniere, like Lecavalier before him, will unfortunately end up in some godforsaken buttman welfare franchise. He'll make a ton of money but will miss out on a meaningful career with an historic franchise like Montreal.
I have some advice for place of ash trees. Do not sign, go KHL till your 25 then sign with Montreal. Who says wisdom does not come with age. I did not see anything that translates Caufield into an NHL career. But the World Jrs is hardly the best measuring stick. The best one is that ticks your height at over 6 ft.
Sportnet is predicting Montreal misses the playoffs and Herb has to clean out his closet.
The most impressive Rookie I have seen in living brain cell memory is Nature. I predict we make the playoffs and the pond hockey pioneers miss. I predict we win the first round, I predict a gassed TFS is run over by a cement head and Toronot says "hockey play"
Modern day Quebec hockey players do not want to follow in the footsteps of the Rocket, Gros Bill and the Flower. They ask their agents: Which way is Florida?
I rewatched The Rocket yesterday. I still can't believe the shit he had to endure and the strides he made for French Canadian athletes is immeasurable. Chokes me up every time when guff ol' Irvin reads the thank you note en francais. This should be standard viewing for all aspiring hockey players. I know Lafreniere is a pipe dream but would be something to see MB pull something of that magnitude off.
Poor Kid KoHo has Weal and Cousins as his wingers. That will help him increase his stats.... for goals against maybe. Poor us, for having to watch it...
It's actually remarkable when you look at the Habs lineup that they are doing as well as they are. Does Danault-Gallagher-Tatar look like a 1st line to you? Then you have guys like Weal, Cousins and somebody named Barber in your middle 6. I scratch my head and wonder if this is a Reggie Houle team from the turn of the century when the Habs were being sold by Molsons and operating on a shoestring.
Lots of commenters and writers like Cowan and Todd keep saying 'the future is bright' with all the young up and comers and prospects in the system. Which future is that anyway? The short term one is looking pretty bleak. Based on what I witnessed tonight, Stamkos, Kucherov, Vasilevskiy et al > Domi, Danault and Price. The present trumps the future every time.
Disappointing loss, but the outgunning was in effect. Druid, GI Finn, LB are all out of the line-up and TFS was less than spectacular until the third period. I thought the second period showed the size advantage was the Bolts' strategy, flinging smaller Habs around a lot. It made me wonder if they shouldn't bring in BigMac for a spell, given how little Barber has to offer.
Even with those guys in the lineup Tampa would have won. The talent disparity was obvious once TB got their feet moving. I know we have to suffer through this rebuild, but a true No. 1 overall player landing in the Habs lap would sure help the process. If the Habs end up a lottery team (a strong possibility) it would be nice if the hockey gods smiled on them for once. It's been 27 years since they even glanced in their direction.
This is true. Both games, the Habs were a bounce away from tying it up in the final seconds. I think there are more solid teams in the East this year. Very few week ones. Injuries - and a #1 goalie who needs to know he has a reliable backup to be able to play his best -- are the difference-makers. --SiM
TFS always sucks when feels the weight of the world on his shoulders. So wrong how they've mishandled the backup goalie position - AGAIN this year!!
When does he play absolute best hockey? In tournaments where he has backups the likes of Luongo and such. I don't know if it's the competition or the comfort of knowing it's not ALL up to him, ALWAYS, but he needs a solid backup to perform at his best. --SiM
All the best of the Holiday season to the FHFamily.
ReplyDeleteBe well, have fun, travel safe and as always GYFHG !
Ha Ha!! Enjoy the holidays!
