Habs v Wings - Can't Lose 'em All. Go Habs Go.

^^^

I was prepared with this photo to celebrate Kovy 2.0 (T17), but I so far stand corrected. Not looking like a rusty tank job at all, unless it's very cleverly disguised.

  1. Well T17 looked pretty good for 1 game at least. So there's that.
TFS probably put the kids in time-out after the game, Nature Boy and Blizzard with some oops on each goal.
Best result, competed, played 'ok', had some chances, didn't pick up a meaningless point.
Maybe 3rd time will be a charm beating the Dead Things tonight. Can't lose 'em all.

I predict Julien will be fired if the Canadiens lose tonight.

    1. Hmm would MB once again fire a coach only to hire a different coach that was recently fired from a different club? Pierre Laviolette? No, he would promote DuCHarme. But I think he doesn't do it until the off season, and I will go one further to say that if (when) the Habs don't make the playoffs, Molson will have no choice but to clean house. In a perfect world, he would replace himself, but I see at the very least him hiring a new GM. Perhaps Saint Patrick himself. Or Bobby Smith (though he should be, as we all know, be prez). And hopefully regardless of who is in the GM chair, DuCHarme gets his chance and they don't try to recycle one of the old guard. If that were to happen, I don't know I could keep watching.

    2. I dont think so, Clod is a prisoner of circumstance, and he seems to have adjusted well. Even Sheldon Keefe could not get us into the playoffs.

  3. Noice !

    I think CJv2 has until Feb 1.

bbb still thinks he has a shot at the post season (the players as well) so unless he does something to stem the bleeding it's over. It probably already is but he has to appear to do something.

  4. Still lots of hockey to be played, who knows what happens with TFS (and maybe BBQ).

I think BBQ is here for the long haul.

I'll admit to being a bit worried about TFS. He is hot and cold with admittedly mistakes made in front of him.

He isn't projecting a good vibe right now. He must realize we see this.

Does he want out? Does he want to head West (VAN or Seattle).

I always saw him as a Habs lifer.

The team, despite injuries is still quite competitive. We like to say JFW but they also need to JFHTN, hit the net FFS !

I am excited for the current crop of young players and of course the prospects. They'll need more grooming. Ducharme move forward ?

As much as I love him as a Hab and a Hab coach, Kaptain Kirk's PP choices are JFW, Just Fucking Weird. Too much CJv2 influence?

Regardless of what transpires, please stay the fuck away from babcock, laviolette et al.

Final thought, stu cowan can fuck off.

  5. Price and Dano to the Avs for Grubauer, Donskoi and Burakovsky.

Think that sounds crazy? Just think back 24 years or so and that is pretty close to the equivalent of what happened. How fucking mad is that?! Can't include the captain this time as it's too different, but Dano = Keane. And no French Canadian goalie to get back.

I've been thinking Seattle all along for Price, but if he moves he most likely wants to go to a contender. Of course if he's left unprotected (if that's an option - I'm not sure on the rules this time around regarding NMC's) I know they have had their issues, but I think Edmonton might be the most likely target for a western landing spot. Though the 'nucks are looking up lately, he might consider that.

I think Vancouver would be a great landing spot for Price. They are farther ahead in their development path than Montreal with an elite forward in Elias Pettersen and an elite D Quinn Hughes. They also have great young support players in Boeser, Horvat and Virtanen. Montreal would probably have to retain some salary. I would take back Jacob Markstrom in a heartbeat. That guy is a battler plus he is UFA at the end of this season if the Habs wanted to roll with Primeau next year. I could even see Weber included (another B.C. boy) as the Canucks could use another good defenceman.

I'm curious about the Stu Cowan comment. Did he say something bad?

    1. Cowan complained about Price not answering media questions after a game.

    2. It would be tough with Vancouver with their Cap situation. They are still paying Bobby Lou $3M per year for 2 more after this I think. Probably have to take Louie Eriksson's $6M contract back for starters, along with Markstrom.

Anyway fun to ponder but I don't see MB making this move unless Carey specifically asks to be moved, and as down as he is right now I don't think he would go there.

    3. I would 100% trade TFS now. He will be 35 before the team in front of him can support him

    1. We swung for the fence and struck out. He is no Tom Wilson. Did we mismanage him, IMHO, he could not skate, and thats a fact. We did not even try to teach him, seriously.

  10. I got tanks I would keep BBB, he is a shwered judge of horseflesh, his only major bluder has been Alzer, and his thefts include, Armie, Tatar, Nature, Domini, Dano, Chariot of Eggs, plus he took a CHance on Radulove and T17 and both look like good bets.

His major mistake was keeping his crew around when they were useless, EMPTY set this team back a decade alone.

  11. Aside from Alzner, MB's glaring error has been giving a goalie, even if he is (was) the best goalie in the world $10.5M AND expecting that goalie to save your team every night. I suspect Steve is right, with 2 years remaining on his contract after this one, it's unlikely Molson relieves his buddy of his duties before that last season.

Coach Clod expires at the same time, but I think the M is onto something, I can't imagine a team that has lost to the worst team in the league 3 FUCKING TIMES can keep going too far without a change. But I think he stays until the break they keep talking about at least.

It's that time of the year, three years in a row and 7 out of 8 (mb's reign) that I don't give a fuck anymore. The Sea Dogs are playoff bound, I'll focus on them.

They are rebuilding, I accept that. But, as long as they keep the dinosaur coach around I'm done watching. If he get's turfed and they let Ducharme take the reins it will probably pique my interest.

I just noticed this, and read it initially as Dolph Lundgren. Which would be awesome.

"The big mistake Bergevin made was letting Radulov go. It was a free asset. He cost only money. And the Habs have been 8 million under the cap every year since he left. The only year they made the playoffs was with him and he was the best player for them in the playoffs."

    BINGO!!

You could make an argument for Markov as well.

    bergevin is fucking stupid.

    1. I agree on Radulov, the only thing I don't know is whether he WANTED to stay here.
I think Markov/Alzner was by far the biggest blunder. Could have signed Markov at the time for 2 more years at $5.5M. Instead he signed Alzner for 5 years with a $4.6M cap hit. He played one terrible season.

He also had a 40 year old Jagr interested and declined in 2013 or 14. He put up 60+ points with NJ that year. Should have been in a Habs sweater. Not saying it would have made a difference but when one of the all-time greats wants to play for you, give him a year.

    2. The thing that really bugs me about the Markov situation, it really seems like ego played a part, perhaps on both sides. Markov didn't feel he needed to pay an agent and MB's nose was too high in the air to deal with a lowly player without a businessman to do the handshakes.
