I looked at the sked and thought hey, we got this we can run the table. Broons? No problem. Pens? Easy pickins. Caps? We got this. But then I notice we play the Wings. All hope is lost. Sell, sell, sell!!!
Run the table before the SFU created "We are a bunch of really knowledgeable leaf fans, look at us, listen to us, watch us eat oatmeal and drink coffee and talk about how amazing Captain underpants and Pyjama Boy are and how great the latest backup goalie is" trade deadline holiday that is.
Oh. And Noice! I really should try yoga - I've had a kink in my mid-back for a year that I can't get rid of...and that first pic is the stretch I try regularly but get nowhere close.
With 28 games remaining, Habs needed to go 3-1 seven times to get to 97 points. They win tonight and they are 4-0 in the first series, so would have a game in the bank. Not sure 97 does it though, so best to keep that goal for the next 6 series of 4 games, then a win tonight gets them 99 points.
I'm not doing any math. They have 3 tough games this week. Really, they are all tough. Plus they still have to do the California death March which they never do well. Long odds they will get there, trannna and Fla have to collapse as well. I'm just watching players like T17, Nature and Tuna giving it all they got.
Its 7.10 I have Rodgers center Ice and the game is still not on. When they show the game they will downgrade the stream from Golden to dehydrated yellow. FUCK the MAN.
gCHuk could have been a really good player if he could have figured out how to play some D. And told his dad to take a hike. I think Jason Zucker will be glad to get out of Minny, seems they've been trying to get rid of him for a while.
Man, I hope Montreal gets their shit together in the 3rd period, they should have put these Dogs out of their misery by now.
gCHuk was supposed to be their stud center for the next 15 years, between eMTy and gchuk Sr. they destroyed him. I hope he enjoys playing for Magnitogorsk next season.
I thought Chris fucking Lee was going to do us in tonight, but it was the other fucker calling Habs all night. The Armia penalty was a hook but the phantom call earlier on Kulak, no too many men just before the Armia call...but you had a 90 second 5 on 3 and a double minor and got nada. A similar effort against the broons and the game will be over well before the 59 minute mark. If there is no Dano against the broon line...well it might be ugly. But hey the broons can't beat Detroit so who friggin knows.
Though I'd rather keep him, makes one wonder if Jason Zucker fetches a first round pick and a prospect (gCHuk is a throw away), what is TATTTTAAAAARRRRR worth? The answer is more than that.
I get it, but why trade your leading scorer? Even if they are toast for this year, I'd give him an extension. They couldn't possibly have this many injuries next year. Could they?
Agree 100%. But IF ol' Bergy decides to make a move, I'm saying it better look a lot better than what Pitt gave up for a guy with 29 points in 45 games. Lots of folks praising this trade by the Pens, but gCHuk is 3 years younger and has a 0.58 ppg over his career compared to Zucker's 0.53 Guess the Pens liked the term left on Zuck's contract. I still hold out hope for ol' CHucky. Maybe Bergy will bring him back to play with Kovy next year. :-/
You are right, Tatar is worth way more than what Pitt gave Minny. As witnessed last year, Tuna netted Detroit a 1, 2 and 3. It's possible somebody offers bbb that but I doubt it.
The fact is we have widow, I mean window, well the same thing actually. TFS and BBQ, they need win now, so we are not going to improve upon TAaTAAR TUNA and DISH in the next two or even 3 years with a trade. The only logical move is to sit tight, hope that EAP and KidKo get their heads out of their ass and start being Naturals. Hope that TsCHar SaCHa can step in as a dominant 3 rd pair. The last peice of the impossible puzzle is Prime Meat whats his nick? If TFS can have a solid backup it augers well for a competing team. Beating like a rented mule means he gets beat. I hate to give you the truth but know you can handle it.
thanks for pointing that out martimer. i tend to forget this is the SECOND 5-yr plan! even the PRC couldnt keep selling it to their minions!
im done with this gm. playoffs or bust w/ or w/o a replacement in mind. if i were in charge, he goes for 2 reasons:
1) sure, he is a great cook considering he picks up the tossed out perishables from the back of the supermarket. yeah, sometimes, it actually tastes really good, but considering he isnt poor, sometimes, u gotta go inside to actually buy stuff or the supermarket will just go out of business. having said that, when u have terrible luck, u can be excused for that and the habs have had lotsa injury misfortune these last few yrs, but u are the GM. your job is to anticipate, react, and restore lost talent cause all teams in pro sports have the same problems.
2) drafting: where are all those guys who were supposed to save us in 2018, 17, 16, 15, 14....? how could ALL these guys fail so spectacularly??? leblanc, audette, thomas, scherbak, andrighetto, sekac, hudon, de la rose, beaulieau, galchenyuk, eller, smith-pelly, lindgren, delauriers, mccarron, d'agostini, fucale, tinordi, weber, diaz...
sigh.... imagine if only 1/4... heck, 1/8 were able to resemble somewhat of an nhl 4th liner?!?
last yr CLB had the balls to go all in with what he had to chase #8. they got it and actually knocked off the #1 seed. if not for some bad luck in round2, they coulda won that too. the lost a lot of talent to FA as expected, but a team who lost their top scorer, a big deadline day pick-up and their vezna goaltender is STILL above us in the tables.
mr BBB: im not getting off. get this crazy train into playoff station. get us in or get me the rope to drop the guillotine. #inordie2020.
f-me.... playing those broooons tm. gymfhgoooooooooo! i hate myself. thats all i have left.
@oleg, it is indeed puzzling as to why the Habs have failed so spectacularly at drafting any elite talent, not just the years you mentioned but for decades. I submit the last good forward they drafted was Saku back in '95. Since then, only Carey and PK would qualify. Granted, they have picked decent support players like Gallagher and maybe Leko but the majority of the team as currently assembled has been traded for or picked off the scrap heap. It's not a good indictment of TT's or the amateur scouts work. I predict bargain bin survives one more season after this. No playoffs in 2021 will be his last as GM.
I decided to disregard the math and instead do the meth. My deductions are we will be buyers not sellers and reach at least the east final if not better. You first it here heard.
Uh oh, according to the SFU looks like curtains for the season for Weber. BBBergy won't know what direction to take, buy or sell. This week will tell the tale. Like the great Yogi Berra said: When you come to a fork in the road, take it.
How do you get there? Let me tell you friends, how do you get there! You take the San Diego Freeway to the Ventura Freeway. You drive to the Slauson Cutoff, get out of your car, cut off your Slauson, get back in your car, then you drive six miles till you see the Giant Neon Vice-Squad Cop.
The situation is such a clusterfuck I cant begin to penatrate to the center of the event. We are not making the playoffs, BBQ might never play again, TFS is doing edibles and the defence rest.
I can't figure why ratface doesn't get punched in the face more often, or at all. The Petry skirmish was nothing, but a bit earlier after a whistle he did a skate by and gave Cousins a little jab to the chin. And nothing. Cousins just gives shakes his head and skates away. Why the fuck would you not just start pummeling him, forget about what penalties you might get? I don't understand, ratface does shit like this regularly and nada.
I think if I was ever in arms length of that vermin I'd punch him in the face. Or, at least give him lots of verbal abuse and try to goad him into taking a swing at me. What a lowlife despicable human being.
I just tuned in for a few seconds, both Tatar and Petry had clear opportunities to shoot the puck, refused to do so, which led to a two on one the other way and pasterfuck scores. Like wtf? It's mind boggling the stupid decisions I see made sometimes.
I recall enjoying Mad About You in the 90's. I see they've rebooted it and thought I really liked Paul Reiser's comedy maybe I'll check it out. Just saw an ad for it and can't do it because of whatever Helen Hunt did to her face. It's a shame women in Hollywood can't grow naturally old, i'm sure a few wrinkles, lines and a bit of sag would look far better than the hack jobs many of them end up with.
Shaved ape gets a $5k fine for trying to decapitate kidG. Like that's going to make him change his ways. Decapitating Montreal Canadiens seems to be a recurring theme for that big POS. buttman doesn't give a flying fuck what kind of shit Jacobs team pulls off. They are immune.
Serious question --- Pittsburgh has survived and prospered with injuries to some of their top guys, Crosby, Guentzel, Malkin, Letang among them. They continue to be contenders year after year. Would Jim Rutherford and Mike Sullivan be 'allowed' by the francophone media to run the Habs? They seem to know what they are doing. I know, Crosby and Malkin, but even the support cast seems to superior to what Montreal has. Brian Burke says a team needs to get good fast or bad fast. If you live in the mushy middle like the Habs do, you'll never win.
Ok, I have been BI Polar, that is what I want BBB to say if he wants to keep his job. We gotta sell everthing if our goal is to win the cup. We can stay pat and make the playoffs next year and maybe go on a run of squeaking in. However if we want to be dominant, we have to look at 2005. and plan that out. Which means TFS and BBQ are toast.
CHillen with the last few episodes of the epic series Vikings. Despite the lack of diversity I got to give it a total pass. If I ever have another boy baby I will call him Ragnor.
Had a great dinner of beef tenderloin steaks with cauliflower risotto. And just finished 'watching' the game on FF in 20 minutes. Kt's crystal clear now if it wasn't already the team isn't good enough to make the playoffs. And this with a nearly full health on the front end that can no longer score 5 on 5 or the PP. Kovy has cooled off to the point where I think Bergy will look at offers...if they come, because, you know...he's cooled off.
They allowed themselves to get too high after the win over the Leaf and the family day Sunday. Can't get too high; can't get too low. What they need most of all is better team psychiatrists. Or fewer (too many cooks). That is all.
Oh, and without BBQ they are missing both a 1 and 2 D-man, and maybe that's not sustainable for more than a couple games, as we've seen before. It's a pile of 5th and 6th d-men and nothing impressive on the farm, so it's really poor talent assessment at that position. Journeyman D Bergy loves a journeyman D. Looks like a new guy will need to step in with a new five-year plan.
I remember the Habs sucked from about 1996 (post Saint Patrick) to 2002 (arrival of Jose Theodore). This latest dry spell 2012 to present day seems even longer.
The last two games have proven what happens when you have elite talent on your team. I don't care that Weber is hurt, the results would have been the same. Players like Crosby and Pastrnak make a difference and the Habs have none of that. None.
Bergevin's plan of "get in the playoffs and anything can happen" is bullshit.
Sadly this season is now done. Not gonna jump on any "fire the fucking lot" bandwagon but somebody, somewhere in Hab land has to come to a light bulb moment. "Hey Geoff, this guy ain't getting it done any time soon"...Jhst making the playoffs is a recipe for losers and 20 year journeymen defencement who never won shit. The goal is to win the Stanley Cup. Anything less demean all those who came before and gave their all. Just making the playoffs reeks of maple leaf mediocrity and is befitting a journeyman 20 year nhl defenceman who never won shit...anyway...enough of the negativity... Just fucking win. Win 20 in a row and see what that does to the standings... Start by winning one in a row... Tonight... At home... Just for the fun of it...
I have looked up and down at the draft and in the top ten even the top 20 there is not a big diff, aside from the Ashman. At number two you have a black guy, and NTTIAWT, those picks have not turned out well in the long term. Seth Jones is an outlier, but Dumba is the norm.
Finish with a lottery pick and hope the hockey Gods spin the wheel, but does anyone think the only person spining and stopping is Buttman?
Where dreams go to die, the trap. Dallas is playing the Devils trap and not even God cares. Boring Boring hockey. Fuck Buttman for killing our religion.
Tuned in just in time to see a very weak penalty call on Armia that resulted in the 3-2 goal. Then at the end of the period Domi is flattened with a crosscheck to the back. Nothing. The officiating is consistent in its inconsistency, I'll give it that.
OK watched the rest of the game and it's clear the Habs are to be given nothing by the league. The refs must have a clear direction to fuck the Habs no matter how fucking obvious it is. The Armia call then non call against him in OT says it all. And this is Joel Armia we're talking about, one of the cleanest unassuming players on the ice. It's fucking horrible to watch, would have been happy to see kidA punch the ref in the face there at the end of the game, despite the outcome.
Not watching tonight as I am babysitting my grandchildren tonight. I got to watch Tangled with my 4 year old granddaughter ... and I enjoyed it! The two boys, 11 and 6 were Fortnighting, whatever that is.
To answer your question, I read somewhere that clod is the most despised coach in the league by the refs. He's called them out too many times over the years and they are going to fuck him every chance they get. Hopefully he's gone in a few weeks and we get a clean slate.
Was the ref Steve Morton or Steve Martin, either way the jokes where flying all night. I guess Buttman thinks he is doing us a favour, "stay down, just stay down" Talk of trading Domini for Brodin, I guess if one of those Ikea players we have a store full off is going to work out it works. We have a lock of 7 place which is is striking distance of Number one. So play like number two for the rest of the year to get number one.
#4... I don't post often but as soon as I saw that line I didn't have to click on the link, knew off by heart... it fits with the current Habs slide into oblivion, you could juxtapose the last few seasons nos glorieux vs that film.. PS - we had one hell of a party @ Velvet Underground for Leaving Las Vegas @ tiff for that film...
Just to get some hockey positivity I watched the game this afternoon between Saint Patrick's Quebec Remparts and Alexis Lafreniere's Rimouski Oceanic. Mssr. Lafreniere put up 7 points in an 11-2 win over St. Paddy's team. Whoever gets to pick this young man is going to be very happy. I believe he is a franchise player. Of note, there is a young defenceman for Rimouski with the last name Belliveau. Nice. There were two former Saint John Sea Dogs also playing for the Oceanic, Cedric Pare and Nicolas Guay. Good players I got to see here. OK, that's all I got, I'll show myself out.
As much as I love Taaaaatttaaarrrrr sauce, I can't help wonder what he is worth considering the 1st round picks and prospects being thrown around for far lesser players. I'm thinking Bergy should trade him and Petry, stocking up on 1st round picks, then offer those 3 picks plus anybody not named Gallagher or Suzuki for the 1st overall pick to grab Lafreniere. Either way, like it or not this team is rebuilding. Might as well be around a Quebecois superstar.
i want to kill any/all further talk about going for a high draft pick, rebuilding, doing anything for the future. this is the new nhl. there is no need to build for the future b/c any year, any team can be THAT team. anybody that thinks you can still build a contender, develop talent... is an idiot. the league is designed for parity. all sports are like that now. doing things the traditional way will only get you so far. the rest is luck and good management of what you have, not what you will get 12, 24, 36 mths from now.
this is the best ever example of why you can NEVER rely on the draft to build a contender. trade tuna, trade dish, see what you can get for domini... bollocks. just take a look at the names in that article... shockingly disappointing.
oh... and losing 3-4 after leading 3-0 is grounds for dismissal.
Hey oleg, I agree with you for the most part. Luck is actually a bigger component of winning than we think. The draft is a crapshoot for the most part. You know what you have in Tatar and Petry. In fact, I think the Habs have some decent, talented players and should be better than they are. Where does the fault lie? Not much doubt in my mind.
There are so many opinions out there about what management should or shouldn't do. I think I'm going to block it all out. However, I will offer this: Geoff Molson needs to separate himself from the CHC and get a REAL President of hockey ops and go back to what he does best, sell beer, condos and be a fan.
What an amazing story, the NHL is going to ban slapshots to preserve their dwindling supply of sticks. Yes hockey sticks come from China and production is broken.
Caught a period of the TB Avs game. They would appear to be in a superior league from our Habs, even when fully healthy. Nothin a change in management from top down and addition of a superstar or 2 wouldn't fix I'm sure.
I looked at the sked and thought hey, we got this we can run the table. Broons? No problem. Pens? Easy pickins. Caps? We got this. But then I notice we play the Wings. All hope is lost. Sell, sell, sell!!!

I am not going to be upset if they lose tonight after that emotional win over the wretched leaf Saturday night. Nope, still enjoying that feeling.

I know, Crosby and Malkin, but even the support cast seems to superior to what Montreal has. Brian Burke says a team needs to get good fast or bad fast. If you live in the mushy middle like the Habs do, you'll never win.
ReplyDeleteOh boy, new drink;

One Litre bottle $70.
ReplyDeleteWhich means TFS and BBQ are toast.
CHillen with the last few episodes of the epic series Vikings. Despite the lack of diversity I got to give it a total pass. If I ever have another boy baby I will call him Ragnor.
ReplyDeleteI gotta get back to Lost In Space...
ReplyDeleteHad a great dinner of beef tenderloin steaks with cauliflower risotto.
ReplyDeleteAnd just finished 'watching' the game on FF in 20 minutes.
Suzuki is still fun to watch. That's all I got.
They allowed themselves to get too high after the win over the Leaf and the family day Sunday. Can't get too high; can't get too low. What they need most of all is better team psychiatrists. Or fewer (too many cooks). That is all.
DeleteOh, and without BBQ they are missing both a 1 and 2 D-man, and maybe that's not sustainable for more than a couple games, as we've seen before. It's a pile of 5th and 6th d-men and nothing impressive on the farm, so it's really poor talent assessment at that position. Journeyman D Bergy loves a journeyman D. Looks like a new guy will need to step in with a new five-year plan.
Re: new guy, we can only hope.
DeleteNeed new coaches ASAP.
ReplyDeleteI remember the Habs sucked from about 1996 (post Saint Patrick) to 2002 (arrival of Jose Theodore). This latest dry spell 2012 to present day seems even longer.
ReplyDeleteThe last two games have proven what happens when you have elite talent on your team. I don't care that Weber is hurt, the results would have been the same. Players like Crosby and Pastrnak make a difference and the Habs have none of that. None.
ReplyDeleteBergevin's plan of "get in the playoffs and anything can happen" is bullshit.
#HireBobbySmith #HireGallant #FireClod #FireKirk #FireBergevin #FireTimmins
ditto make BBB in CHarge of the dumpster. He has a talent for trades, but developing talent, nothing.
DeleteSadly this season is now done.
ReplyDeleteWe'll have to take any win that comes and hopefully get a top Draft position.
DeleteMinor page refresh.
ReplyDeleteI have looked up and down at the draft and in the top ten even the top 20 there is not a big diff, aside from the Ashman. At number two you have a black guy, and NTTIAWT, those picks have not turned out well in the long term. Seth Jones is an outlier, but Dumba is the norm.
ReplyDeleteFinish with a lottery pick and hope the hockey Gods spin the wheel, but does anyone think the only person spining and stopping is Buttman?
Where dreams go to die, the trap. Dallas is playing the Devils trap and not even God cares. Boring Boring hockey. Fuck Buttman for killing our religion.
ReplyDeleteTuned in just in time to see a very weak penalty call on Armia that resulted in the 3-2 goal. Then at the end of the period Domi is flattened with a crosscheck to the back. Nothing. The officiating is consistent in its inconsistency, I'll give it that.
ReplyDeleteOK watched the rest of the game and it's clear the Habs are to be given nothing by the league.
ReplyDeleteNot watching tonight as I am babysitting my grandchildren tonight. I got to watch Tangled with my 4 year old granddaughter ... and I enjoyed it! The two boys, 11 and 6 were Fortnighting, whatever that is.
DeleteTo answer your question, I read somewhere that clod is the most despised coach in the league by the refs. He's called them out too many times over the years and they are going to fuck him every chance they get. Hopefully he's gone in a few weeks and we get a clean slate.
Circle of life, good for you M. Dont bring those babies up to be Habs fans:)
DeleteWas the ref Steve Morton or Steve Martin, either way the jokes where flying all night.
ReplyDeleteStolen from the SFU. Level of concern, what is your level of concern for the near future of the Habs
ReplyDelete1) nothing a good coffe talk could not solve
2) a beer after work
3) a six pack for lunch
4) you can never ever ask me to stop drinking
DeleteR.I.P. Tony Fernandez
ReplyDeleteI think its time for a moratorium on death. Unless your bloody Paul McCartney its not notable. Unless your take far to soon.
ReplyDeleteJust to get some hockey positivity I watched the game this afternoon between Saint Patrick's Quebec Remparts and Alexis Lafreniere's Rimouski Oceanic.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I love Taaaaatttaaarrrrr sauce, I can't help wonder what he is worth considering the 1st round picks and prospects being thrown around for far lesser players.
ReplyDeletei want to kill any/all further talk about going for a high draft pick, rebuilding, doing anything for the future. this is the new nhl. there is no need to build for the future b/c any year, any team can be THAT team. anybody that thinks you can still build a contender, develop talent... is an idiot. the league is designed for parity. all sports are like that now. doing things the traditional way will only get you so far. the rest is luck and good management of what you have, not what you will get 12, 24, 36 mths from now.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.nhl.com/canadiens/news/habs-roll-to-6-1-romp-over-tampa-bay/c-488916
this is the best ever example of why you can NEVER rely on the draft to build a contender. trade tuna, trade dish, see what you can get for domini... bollocks. just take a look at the names in that article... shockingly disappointing.
oh... and losing 3-4 after leading 3-0 is grounds for dismissal.
DeleteThere are so many opinions out there about what management should or shouldn't do.
ReplyDelete"Marc Bergevin and Scott Mellanby are scheduled to be at Tampa-Colorado tonight in Denver."
ReplyDeleteGuess they want to see what good teams look like...
* golf clap *
Deleteditto or they are measuring the drapes for TaTAAAAAR
DeleteCaught a period of the TB Avs game. They would appear to be in a superior league from our Habs, even when fully healthy. Nothin a change in management from top down and addition of a superstar or 2 wouldn't fix I'm sure.
