I "follow" some people on Twitter who report on the Habs and have been reading quite a bit after yesterday's minor activity by Bergevin. I admit I am torn between seeing this team make a run for the playoffs or doing a major reno.
This quote pretty much sums it up:
"He (Bergevin) says he won't go "all in" for a run and mortgage the future. Apparently he can't go "all in" for the future and mortgage the present either. No man's land."
Exactly. He thinks his 'core' of Weber, Price, Petry, Gallagher, Drouin and Tatar are good enough to make the playoffs. That's been proven wrong for 3 years straight. If he had so much faith in them, why wouldn't he trade some of his many, many draft picks to get them some real help? Why even trade away three vets like Kovy, N8 and Marco? So what if you lose them to free agency in July, they basically cost you nothing to acquire. If you are going to build through the draft like you say why keep any of those guys. Like Engels said, the presser yesterday offered no clarity of a plan. Bergevin is basically treading water and going nowhere. He refuses to pick a lane and stay in it. After the 28th place finish in 2018 the path should have been very clear. Start over. Tell the fans up front like Shanahan did in Toronto and Jeff Gorton did in New York. It makes the most sense.
As a long time Habs fan I feel really betrayed by what's going on in the organization. It seems there has been no clear path since Patrick Roy was traded. GM after GM hasn't had the balls to do the right thing and that is build a true contender. The Montreal franchise has the financial means and loyal fanbase to build a winner!
Finally, Claude Julien... are you fucking kidding me? Two 8 game losing streaks, one 5 game losing streak and three straight years out of the playoffs and Bergevin is satisfied with those results? Am I missing something here? I'm starting to think Molson is brain dead. For the love of God get rid of these two clowns!! I think a serious boycott of the Bell Center is in order. It happened in the late '90s, it should happen again.
Yes, you're missing something re: Julien. Also lost 4 games to the bottom feeder of the league this year.
I hated the signing then. I hate it more now. I hate his face - it's a broon face whenever a call goes against the Habs, he has that face. I don't like it.
I called for CJv2 to be gone on Feb 1st. Still nothing. I think Molson is giving dgmb one last shot at glory. The prospect looks bright but who knows. The core is still solid for another 3 seasons at least. I doubt the Habs squeeze out a playoff this season. I think they go really far next year.
can u guys describe this phenomenon to me pls? when the local ice hockey team is doing well and certainly when there is a home game, almost everybody is wearing their just bought merchandise and walking proudly on the street. yet when i am wearing my red and walking the streets like i am today, nobody has a clue why im doing it. some im sure are oblivious that their own home team is playing on the road tonight against my red sweater team. does this happen in your town also? i suspect its just all the sucks who live in my town who are such idiots.
its called globalization, and at the local level everyone is doing their own shit, you do not have a concentration of effort to make a proper bowel movement.
How many leads must the Habs let go Before you call them a team? How many times must the defence fail With Bergy’s head in the sand? How many times must management lie Before they're forever banned? The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind The answer is blowin' in the wind How many years can a rebuild exist Before it's washed up can’t you see? How many years must TFS exist Before he’s allowed to be free? And how many times can Geoff turn his head And pretend that he just doesn't see - the answer The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind The answer is blowin' in the wind How many times can a fan look up Without seeing CJ looking wry? How many ears must one person have Before he can hear people cry (we want a cup!)? And how many playoff deaths will it take 'till he knows That too many seasons have died? The answer, my friends, is blowin' in the wind The answer is blowin' in the wind Oh, the answer, my friends, is blowin' in the wind The answer is blowin' in the wind
so steaming mad. CANT BELIEVE THEY DID IT AGAIN! hate my life..... i dont know about u guys... but stamp it into my head again: is blowing ANOTHER 3rd period lead grounds for dismissal?
i think i heard somehwere theyve lost 8 times this yr since leading in the 3rd. combined with 0/4 vs detroit and theres's your playoff spot.
