To me this pic is quintessential Pocket Rocket vs.
the Habs biggest rival.
He single-handedly beat da broons many times.

  1. We've been lucky to have many but I think Henri stands 2nd only to Mr. Béliveau in pure CH class.

Have to agree 100% with that assessment.

Those are some great pictures from a wonderful era for my generation of Habs fans. Thanks moe, for creating this special thread of a great hockey player. Like Saint Paddy said in the previous thread, 11 Stanley Cups is a record that will stand forever.

Even though our beloved Habs are currently wandering without direction in the wilderness under Geoff Molson's watch, we still have our memories of players like Henri Richard who knew how to win.

  2. Awesome tribute, moeman. RIP to the only human being who will ever have won 11 Cups.

  3. Awesome and well deserved tribute to a man that will always be one of the top 5 Habs of all time. I was listening to TSN Montreal and they were talking to Steve Shutt, Derek Sanderson and Guy Lufluer, and the one word was reverence. This guy was 38 years old still a stud player, he could have won 13 Stanley Cups if he did not hate Scotty Bowman so much. I dont think he has a bronze statue, but he should have one by Monday.

    1. and he was a fucking Smurf, he was maybe the toughest guy in the NHL who no one wanted to fight.

Even though Montreal had John Ferguson to keep opposition players honest, players like Henri fought their own battles.

  4. Fracking Debt, so many was to thinkabout that. In the words of Jim Morrison I am gonna get my kicks until the whole shithouse goes up in flames. Cheap gas is comming your way, along with greater frequency of bad weather and the special interests who run your life extending their life span.

Its a little like the plan BBB has for the Montreal Canadian. Its a bidness, you make money, you win.

    2. No thanks, but if you could ,perhaps, delay your tee-off time.I might be able to get there.
(Swap you an overpaid, low scoring forward for a case of Maudite.)

  6. Three outsanding reasons to lose tonite
    1) it will give us a better shot at the ASH man.
2)It will give Florida a boost in their race with the leaf for the final spot
3)We got one more ghost to help with number 1.

Someone else mentioned, another 8 game losing streak wouldn't be a bad thing. However, only the hockey gods or buttman can bestow AF on the Habs. I would bet on Ottawa winning the lotto, they are gonna get a boatload.

  8. I have somehow never managed to see the original M*A*S*H movie. Got that on the menu tonite.

      Netflix?

I used to have the old laser disc version of it.

    2. Still have Bell cable and HBO/Crave and Starz for $10/month. On Starz I believe...I've gone through the different channels and found a few movies I've always meant to watch.
Got Ray and Million Dollar Baby. And have heard great things about Brando's On the Waterfront. A few others.

Just finished MASH. Great and zany, awesome to see all those actors so young many of whom went on to great careers.

I believe MASH featured Saint John native Donald Sutherland as Hawkeye Pierce.

Million Dollar Baby is very good.

    4. Correct...but I prefer Alan Alda's version. And Gary Burghoff was the only original to move to the TV series as Radar. It was certainly not to today's PC standards but funny as hell.

    5. When Frank Burns left the show dropped a grade. It was still entertaining, often great but lacked the conflict burn.

  9. Turns out MASH was released 50 years ago next week, about three years after the most recent leaf cup.

  10. So I tuned in to watch the team unable to score during a double minor with a 5 on 3 in the last minute of it. So 5 total minutes of PP with a minute of 5 o n 3 and didn't even have a decent shot on net. So...Go Cats! Do it for Bobby Lou.

That was brutal to watch. I watched on delay so once it was 2 zip for the Cats I hit the FFWD button. It's hard watching an AHL team play out the string.

On a positive note, it was very classy of the Panthers and later the Oilers to observe a moment of silence for the great Henri Richard. It was appreciated by this old Habs fan.

  12. The seas are angry my friends.
Kid Ko got spleened, just when he was finding his way.
With the trade of T17 (watch the movie T35 its great) and the loss of the pocket we are forced to reflect on our lack of an elite forward. Aside from the Number one pick in the draft, we are not going to find one at Chez Pare.
The Clown prince has started an oil war to the bottom, fill up like its 1999.
The Covis 119 hangs over our civilization like a pre aids tea bagger. Its hard to imagine what we have seen in other places wont happen here. From the hoarding of toliet paper its seems the conventional wisdom is that its going to be a real shit storm.
Going to succumb to temptation and star Picard today.

    1. And to think the rabid fans were clamoring for Bergy to trade Steak for picks! Imagine we'll need (and appreciate) his scoring next year, considering how shite they are without him.

    It's a shitstorm alright.

A crap team assembled by a crap GM coached by a crap coach.

Expect more of the same next season.

The legendary players who are still around must just shake their heads when they watch this team put together by a fucking clown and enabled by a delusional owner.

    1. Hi M what I think you are trying to say is "if the suit fits" in a world where suits are like somthing from a long time ago that as much as I may not follow the NBA, they dress like atheltes, not bankers, SWIDT

  14. IMHO what has happened in Italy and China will happen here within the next two weeks. What is the opposite of a road trip? IMHO this is overblown, however out of an abundance of caution, never approach a zombie even if you think you know them

The Sea Dogs lost to the Drummondville Voltigers last Saturday night. The Volts have a 5'7" dynamo by the name of Xavier Simoneau who has 90 points this season. He was passed over in the 2019 Draft for some reason... but holy crap he falls right into the Habs wheelhouse. It's the new DDD!!!!

  19. I have Nature Boy in my pool. His point total hasn't moved since T17 was traded, and maybe even well before that. I'd say that bit of chatter about him maybe getting 3rd in the Calder is likely out the window. Will probably go to Oloffson from Buffalo, whom. I also have. Not sure what I was thinking taking 2 rookies but I'm in 2nd place. My big gaffe was taking Pyjama Boy over Draisaitl with my 1st pick. It was a coin toss but I figured drafting JT was a sure way to have him fail as I always do poorly in theses drafts which I also happen to organize.

I have been in a keeper pool for he last 4 years. The two guys that organized and run it have manipulated it through trading with less knowledgeable people so that one of them has won the last three years straight and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. The other guy is dead last and will get the first overall pick this year just like last year. I think they split the winnings. When this season is over I'm out.
