  1. Stormy and windy day on the east coast. Shoveled the 20cm before it turned to rain, so that's good.
Hope we keep our power for the game.

    GYFHG!

Anybody know when they will be debuting their blues?

I was on Twitter this morning reading some comments on certain Habs reporters tweets and one thing was noticable, gary galley was taking a beating and rightly deserved. Fucking leafnet is clueless about their personnel. What am I saying, it doesn't matter they are all leafool ass clowns. I know tsn is a big part of the sfu but their regional coverage is at least half decent.

  3. It saddens me that BBQ won't have 21,273 fans cheering him in person for his fantastic career.

I am sure the Canadiens will honour him with a nice ceremony.

    1. Was thinking the same thing. He's such a stoic personality, I think he would have loved it, but also will enjoy just getting on to another beatdown of the 'nucks.

  4. That's Missy Peregrym in the last photo. A sneakily hot actress from Montreal. Starred in things like Rookie Blue, Van Helsing and apparently currently FBI. I'll assume she's a Habs fan.

  7. On Thursday, #Habs GM Marc Bergevin will present Shea Weber with a silver stick and a painting during a special pregame ceremony. Weber's wife and children will be able to be in attendance for this to celebrate the milestone with him.

  8. Wow so much to unpack and I am a packrat.

First BBQ, how large is that grill you slam dunk down to describe what was at one time a trade controversy.

Now I have been given very confidential very personal information about the mental health of the Van couer Cunaks between the 2nd an thirds period. In respect I will keep it as graphic nutreul as possible. There was lots of fetal positions and tears, thats as far as I can go. The Coach tried to rally them to be better and they just asked him to keep them from going out the door for the third.

  9. So we got Alain in nets Meat playing and Romanov watching from the stands... Which is probably a good idea this early in the season. The ceremony should be pretty good too.

what happened to doing one post/baseball series!? we will never see ice cream! =(
or did you do this b/c this was bbq's 1000th?

memo to everybody: dont get too high, dont get too low. nothing matters until the 2nd season starts. remember that 10-0 start only a few years ago? like the M and StP said above, it will be interesting to see how this team reacts when things dont go well.

i know the kid Tsar wasnt in tn, but does it bother anybody else that the PP looks like crap. STILL?!? if its not a clear slapper from big bbq, its nothing. what i like/love to see is working it low for a x-crease tap in, or a one-timer from the 1/2 board. how did these things become impossible to execute?

you guys' thoughts about s. bennett?
(he looks like a good reclaimation project. i like him way more than PLD. i dunno what to give up for him though...)

  47. A good win again. In such a short season, every point counts but there will inevitably be a level of this game the Habs won't reach by playing the same 6 teams over and over again. the variety that you get from playing 30 other teams is what makes your team as well rounded as it needs to be...so I do worry about what happens come the post season. I alsways worry about playing the Sens too - regardless of how bad they might look on paper, they always bring their A game when they play the Habs. Let's hope the boys keep their foot on the gas!

As for Sam Bennett, I don't really know that much about him - was Meat being showcased for a straight swap or one with picks? Trading in-country is the only move that makes any sense - especially the later you get into the season. So I guess we'll see.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Sam Bennett had a really good draft year, scoring 91 points in 57 games. That really drove his stock up and the Flames took him 4th overall in 2014. He has never lived up to that billing. His best season is 18 goals and 36 points. You may take the +/- category with a grain of salt but he is always on the - side. I recall them mentioning during one of the games we played vs the Flames, their fans call him Playoff Sam, because his numbers drastically improve in the post-season. 13 points in 15 games the past 2 years and a +4.

No thanks to Sam Bennett and his $2.55M cap hit. He's only 24 and could turn things around but he is not a player this team needs right now.

    1. Good shout Pad - The thing I suppose i that the Habs actually have a decent amount of good players. Most of the dross is gone. Look at what happened last night - The WrongBenn is still searching for his jock after Powerhorse pulled that"I don't even know what it was" move on him to score. Meat is disgruntled cause he can't get a game unless his agent whines and we still haven't seen Frollick yet. Never mind Poehling and others waiting in the wings and in the Uber. I seriously think Dano has screwed himself by not re-upping when the offer came. No way he gets near that amount anywhere else (or with the Habs at this point).

    1. Which is a great way to ensure we all do...and low and behold, they need a morning full of "1st place Leaf" stories, so they decide not to update - probably won't until closer to dinner time just to be sure they can share the "Austin Matthews' lunchtime quiz" or some other bullshit...

      Delete
    2. Its even funnier as they broadcast the game 12 hours ago.

      Delete
    3. It's updated now. While there make sure you click on the 'League' standings too. A certain team we know is in first place.

Then they have their leaf in 2nd. St Loo and Philly have the exact same record, all three teams have a puny +4 goal differential. I guess their team has more regulation wins than Philly and more regulation/OT wins that StLoo is the reasoning, because their team has scored the fewest goals of the three (how can be with all of that leaf awesomeness?!)

Hope the Canucks are really angry after the last 2 nights.

    I'll chime in.

    1) No to Sam Bennett, they don't need him.
    2) Meat is going nowhere, he is D depth and the coach will rotate him in and out with Kaddilak and Tsar. He will be available to the Kraken when the expansion draft happens this summer.
    3) I'm not worried in the slightest about this Habs team fading, Toffee and Andy are legit, along with Lip and Dish this team can fucking score. Last Saturday night was an outlier, a hot goalie which you will run into occasionally.
    4) tsn website is a fucking joke run by leafool ass clowns, I don't use them anymore I just type in NHL standings in my browser and something pops up. Guaranteed if the putrid leaf had taken over first place last night it would have been updated 1 minute after the game. Same as leafnet.

    1. All your takes here are right in line with what I see. It's a weird season in so many respects. Let me add that Dano is looking a bit off. I think he's bored facing the same opposition so much. Or thinking he should've taken the offer in front of him instead of listening to his agent. Beyond that, I sure hope Czar was only out of the line-up to keep Meat fresh, but it does make sense to get some live action in for everybody, especially considering there were no exhibition games. That they can afford not to ice the best line-up available speaks to the incredible depth Bergy has given his coach. Well played!

    2. Bennett is not what the Habs need, but, if he can be stolen ...
Dano is not handling not being on the 1st line well. KidA and Tuna seem fine.
All new additions are playing great and everyone is buying into the fast forward motion.
The Habs being good>great has always bothered the sfu, they will get worse.
      Go Vancouver Canucks !

@moe it's funny you mention the line # with respect to Danault. I was thinking about that last night watching Toffoli and Anderson rip the Canucks to shreds. Here's how I see it: Suzuki's line is #1, KoHo and Toffoli are #2 which leaves Danault, Tatar and Gallagher as the #3. Actually the last couple of games I thought the Evans-Byron-Lek line was generating more offence than the previous trio. I do believe that Danault is probably sulking that he has been surpassed by the two young centers. He should just accept he is what he is, a good checking center with a little bit of offensive upside. I think he is dragging Tuna down with him, he looks s little off as well. Gallagher is Gallagher no matter where you put him.

      Delete
    4. good insight M, bouncing off what moe said.

the entire line-up (front 12 + back 6) are really balanced. i cant think of a time they have been better on paper and that suits them just fine playing fast forward.

what i'de request is jabba rotate EVERYBODY through the line-up so as not to alienate/disgrunt anybody (including dano, meat, frolik, snowman, poe, commodore, gi joel, j. weal, delaurian...). that part you mentioned about needing him for the seattle draft is a good example of forward thinking.

again on dano... i dont know what his prob is. theres no shame in being the next carboneau

      Delete
    5. I agree re Dano and that Tuna also seems off, but getting better looks.
Jake Evans is quickly becoming what Dano has been the past couple of years, a really gifted 2 way defensively responsible centre with some offensive upside. He will/can be a clear #3 centre if the Habs truly have the conventional line numbers like that. Dano just might find himself released to the Kraken if they don't bite on the Meat.

#Habs are overrated cause they play the same teams all the time.

  52. Good stuff guys.

I agree Tuna seems to be dragged down by Dano.
Dano is likely clutching his stick a bit tight.
Couple of plays saw teammates feed Dano for what looked like sure goals.
Sometimes its better to shoot and help the team.

  53. So I got the $1 a month Xmas special at TheAthletic. Normally I wouldn't give leafstiffs like mirtle and the leafsycophants a dime ... anyways, like tsn, they are 'projecting' the next Team Canada Olympic team. Why oh why do they think morgan oreilly is worthy to be on that team ?

I made two new words !

    ReplyDelete
  54. Dano has to take the 3.5 for eight or I am sorry Jake Evans who has no nick can replace him easily. He is no plekanaks
Dont piss of the Tzar, he is a Russian and you got be culture correct and benCHing him for a capitalist move is not borsCH.
DGMB did he ever have a plan
lets trade away draft picks for playoff round-failed
lets let my buddy develop the utes-failed
lets get Alzner to play with Weber-failed
But when the balls where so high he could taste them he traded for BBQ
    and the rest is history.
