  1. It's my day. You better win Habbies!
Gallagher - that's pretty damn Irish - gotta excel tonight. Maybe we should call him Lep instead of Lip (short for Leprechaun).

It's time folks to place your bets
On the Habs versus the Jets
    Lep will score two
    Just like I knew
And Price will allow zero in nets

  3. There once was a Hab named Lep
Who knew how to go to the net
    Though he gets a shellacking
    He keeps on attacking
Believing he'll hoist the Cup yet

  4. I am married long time to a half polish half Irish birthplace girl I have been to both homelands and Ireland won by a large margin, although the communist's may have Posi ended the Polish water a bit.

The Irish are one of our leading lights of civilization, its too bad they were not heavyweights in the great game.

According to my maternal Grandmother (Acadien) and Grandfather (English), they each had an Irish grandmother. So there is a wee bit of Irish in me. I don't drink much anymore so I usually keep it pretty low key on St. Patrick's day.

That being said, enjoy the day Saint Paddy and I hope the boys pull out a win for you! Leprechaun Gallagher has to score tonight.

  11. I like to give RDS praise for the way they cover the Habs but I mistakenly dialed into their pre-pre game show.

There is nothing worse on their network than the trio of tremblay brunet therrien. Hate, Idiocy and Xenophobia. Fucking clown show.

It's too bad that some of the Habs former players have adopted the anti-anglo stance, especially as they would have had many anglo or European teammates. I assume that's what you mean by xenophobia.

    2. the Maritimer8:52 PM

I liked the Tremblay that played on the '70's dynasty teams. The one that coached the Habs and chased Saint Patrick out of town not so much. Brunet, I can barely remember.

      Delete
    3. Well, in order, tremblay is full of hate, brunet is as bright as a cast iron pan but therrien, a lifelong Nordiques lover who should not be on any telecast, never stops with the pro-Quebecer over Anglo or Euro players. He is as bad as michel bergeron, a fucking snake.

I don't know the therrien guy but I know it's not AF, he's in philthy. bergeron I know who he is loud mouth no-dicks coach. Whatever happened to guys like Carbo and Vinnie D.? They would be competent I'm sure.

    5. Carbo is on the game show.

    6. Your assessment of the trio is so apt. This province is getting more and more intolerant with crybabies scapegoating anyone whose mere presence tears apart their small-minded world-view of a "perfect" Pure-Laine QuΓ©bec that they mistakenly believe once existed. Levesque must be spinning in his grave enough to power a Hydro-QuΓ©bec turbine. --SiM

  24. Anyway, they battled back from 3-1 to grab 3 of 4 possible points in the two-fer. Like I keep saying: it mesns little that they can't figure out how to play this freakish 3-on-3 mockey (not a typo) the geniuses in Buttman-league came up with for regular season OT. This teams is built for playoff hockey and last I checked, they are still in position to get there. A lot of grit was shown tonight against very tough and talented competition. G'night all. --SiM

  26. credit due, one loser point, resume play

    ReplyDelete
  27. Glad I didn't stay up for another loser point, but pleasantly surprised they battled back to get the tie. Dish just needs to dish that back outside the zone rather than try to hang onto it vs 3 Jets in OT. Probably doesn't matter as they would have blown it anyway. They're not going to win anything in OT/SO, so keep winning enough games in regulation to make the playoffs where the skill competition doesn't exist.

  28. The juggernaut, btw, is our Lep. He has been that dominant warrior that inspires his teammates to give everything they've got. Heart a lion coukd only wish for. --SiM

  29. Meh...Last week I had a wee rant about OT and how I felt it should be approached...Mentioned something about sending out your 3 best players and play the hell out of it until you score...So what happens here...DuCHe sends out a guy with 1 goal, a guy who was waived the day before and Dish...because playing D in 1 5 min shinny session is really fucking important!. They lose the opening face-off, get a chance at a goal (but because the guys on the ice are fucking useless in that department they fail) then try changing up after 40 seconds...leaving the Jets to go 3 on ?? and score. FFS! Why TF was Byron on the ice? Seriously WTF! Yesterday he was in an Uber - nerxtx night he's playing Shinny for a point? Fuck that BS - change the fucking lot up and bring in a completely new system. DuCHe is a victim of the system he inherited. He directed parts of it and OBVIOUSLY the OT system was his doing under clod...So fucking annoying considering how well they came back to tie it up. Sorry all but it's really fucking annoying!

UK3X, thank you, you saved me from typing out the exact same rant. I watched the game this morning and was so happy they tied it up and got the loser point. Couple of things mentioned above worth repeating:
      1. Weber should not be sheltered, drop him down and give him fewer minutes, his wheel bearings are shot. Also, 2nd PP unit at best and not every time.
      2. You gotta love the Lep, a true leader with the heart of a lion.
      3. Let GI Finn walk.

Getting back to last night, I literally laughed out loud when I saw who was on the ice to start OT. Other than Petry it was a fucking joke. Same as the last time they played the Jets in OT, it was over in about 40 seconds. Petry even refused to pass the puck to Dunno. Coach DD sure is stubborn.

So the Habs garnered 6 points in a 6 game western swing so basically played .500 hockey which is always considered acceptable on the road. It's actually better than I thought would happen. Now, they need to get their shit together at home.

  32. Fell asleep, nice to get the loser point.

  33. the Maritimer12:24 PM

So it's all well and fine they got a point last night but here's the thing. Ducharme is still using julien's playbook for OT. It's like he is conceding he extra point. Paul Maurice did the exact same thing he did previously which is start 3 of his best forwards. If Ducharme wants to play defence only, why not put out his 3 best defencemen? Just concede the faceoff, let the Jets have the puck and you defend. Try to play keep away for 5 minutes. You aren't trying to win by starting two forwards with 7?goals between them and you leave 30 goals on the bench 17 and 74. If I'm coaching I put Nick or KoHo at center with either Josh or Toffee and either Petry or Kulak on D. Why not, DD is not trying win anyway so what does he have to lose? Last night mad zero sense. I guess DD is not as progressive a coach as we thought. Conservative clod's presence still lingers.

  34. KK/Andy/Druid

That should always be your starting OT unit.

Friggin' Lucky CHarmes putting out Bran Flakes when we have those much tastier Frosted Flakes on the bench. Makes no sense.
