Spring ahead back in time. G27 v '86 cup loser Flames
I grew up the youngest of 4 boys, with a good gap between me and the next oldest. I was either a mistake or a last ditch effort for a girl. It all worked out (is what I tell myself)!
Anyway as a result of being a youngin' with three teenaged brothers, I was exposed to many different ideas, opinions and musical tastes. I think I've mentioned there is one Hab fan, one Bruin fan and one leaf fan. When I was 4 or 5 and figuring out which way to go, Bobby Orr almost swayked me to the dark side. But I saw the light. My dad was a Habs fan too so that probably solidified it.
Anyway I got to remembering growing up with those older siblings and how there were always posters on the wall. Below are those i can recall. Great memories.
St Pad.
Spring ahead tonight folks!

Hardy Boys fan or Da do run run?
Heather Thomas. Remember The Fall Guy?
The pose
Oldest bro is a huge fan of these guys.
2nd oldest is the biggest music guy, had all the vinyl and even though a b's fan helped shape my diverse taste in music
Farah was the one, I saw Kiss in their prime at Maple Leaf Gardens. My other mentor for growing up James Rockford. Go Habs Go We are in a delicate positon. Not likely to catCh the leaf, but good shot at second whiCH surely makes us around Pegs. Peg is a heavy girl, she will soften us up for the leaf in the second round.
Yeah there have been a few struggles there this year. I just happened to see Na out up an 8. I might actually make it too. It's inside 50 yards where my short game really struggles. One day I'll get help.
Great story Saint Pad. All the greats are there - just missing Cheryl Tieg as fara as classic posters. Luckily for me my big sis helped me appreciate the Clash, Elvis Costello, The Specials snd the Pogues, among others. --SiM
Combat Rock got a lot of play in our basement. Zeppelin, Stones, Queen and The Who...to Johnny Cash, George Jones , John Prine and Gord Lightfoot. Too many greats to name for sure.
Its almost 5 EST I have one cold one in the cold celler, I have a fear of leaping anywhere in time and I am going to finish this day with a victory or I will burn the T shirt I am wearing for penance because I need penance.
All sorts of SFU dicks going on about Sutter's influence already with the Habs' scoring chances way down on Thursday. Not one of them mentioned that they were playing in a different time zone less than 19 hours after finishing their last game.
First they hit you with time zones, and you think you can handle that, then it time CHange and you beat that back, but time travel, well its an entirely different CHallange.
what if we could return to 1967 and the leaf win the cup but there is cable and everyone pays $100,000 a year for sports tv. That is exactly what I am talking about, that is the threat that never goes away. Bill Gates is in on it.
The UK celebrates Mother's Day on Sunday so I gotta go find some flowers for the wife. Hope this game picks up but I will read all about it in the morn. Later.. M
Can someone call the Poleice, there is a tire on fire in Montreal and it may spread. BTW I love woemen but Cassie is like nails on CHalboard for me. Whats wrong with Sergio a proud straight man who played in the NHL?
I take back my comment about the broadcast being 1000 times better. Only about 2x better. Still homers and Cassie Campbell is just not a good analyst. I wish she was.
Too bad some of the Montreal forwards couldn't learn to shoot the puck like Jeff Petry. They might actually score some goals. Does Jonathan Drouin even know how to shoot a puck?
Many fans are going to be harping for bergy to do something. He's already done his job. It's time for the players to do theirs. Seems to me more than a few of them are just going through the motions or, don't know what to do. Trap hockey can be countered but you have to be willing to get into puck battles and win some.
That's all I got.
Now, let's see if Lee Westwood can beat Bryson DeChambeau today. I know I'm pulling for the 47 year old veteran.
So a couple of takes from me. First of all, I have always thought that a team that doesn't get at least 10 shots a period seldom win many games. Simple, uncomplicated, no science behind it. Secondly, BBB has to do something or he is out of a job by 10th May. Lastly for now, Habs are so fucking sof on the puck it is embarrassing. No excuses. Also...someone tweeted this last night but it did make sense... Perhaps the Habs just aren't that good a team.
I think the reality is their now top two centers are very young and have a ways to go yet. The defence has only two good players, Dish and JEd. Weber has lost two steps and turns the puck over a lot. The goalies are decent and should be for the money they are being paid. They have 3 good wingers and maybe another on the way. Bottom line they are a .500 team (maybe). If they continue playing like they are I can see mb being a seller at the deadline and picking 15th again. Same old same old.
the window is bent, no way to seal it expect hail mary trade, I say hail Mary, trade the entire future for a cup today. You know by now there is no future.
CHariot was particularly missed? Maybe Dano wasn't really able to play. But how come Nature gets boarded and nothing comes of it? That's scandalous. --SiM
Agree completely SIM... That hit was so dangerous and I honestly think someone will die or be permanently paralysed before the league figures it out. His head goes into the boards at such a drastic angle. Fucking ass holes... And no one too him to task for it either.
Nice work, moeman. I'm jealous. Coaticook ice cream is my waistline's new nemesis. That and being stuck inside with limited time and space for exercise. --SiM
Right knee is arthritic, not much I can do except manage it which I can. Left shoulder is now a problem, I'm getting it checked soon but I intend to play (and walk) regardless. I am going to be biking more this summer as well. I think my karate career may be over but maybe it's time. 66 is not young and there are a lot of miles on my joints. We'll see.
BTW, congrats on losing the 10. I have a hard time shedding weight now, a combination of age, metabolism and a sweet tooth. That being said, I always drop some weight during golf season, hopefully we will get an early start.
Canadian golfer Corey Conners would fit in with the Habs. Does a lot right, but lacks finish. In all seriousness he's playing great, hanging with the big boys.

ReplyDeleteGo Habs Go

The leaf don't do 2nd round.
DeleteHey the M you watching The Players? How to you think you'd fair at 17? I watched Kevin Na on Thursday and could relate ⛳ 🌊
ReplyDeleteI've seen some of it. As for the 17th, I'd like to think I could land and stick one. I've gotten pretty good with a wedge. It would be fun to try.
DeleteWasn't that Ben Han that took an 11? Rory took an 8 I believe.
Yeah there have been a few struggles there this year. I just happened to see Na out up an 8. I might actually make it too. It's inside 50 yards where my short game really struggles. One day I'll get help.

Great trip down memory lane Pad. Thanks for that. Just fucking win boys!
ReplyDeleteAdd Linda Ronstadt to the poster list.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah...actually pretty sure now you mention that, there wasn't a Linda but there was a Joan Jett. I think.
DeleteAll sorts of SFU dicks going on about Sutter's influence already with the Habs' scoring chances way down on Thursday. Not one of them mentioned that they were playing in a different time zone less than 19 hours after finishing their last game.
ReplyDeleteThey only got to their hotel at 4 AM after the flight in from Van too. --SiM

ReplyDeleteHabs playing like shit so far...
ReplyDeletePublic service reminder... You guys need to put your clocks ahead an hour tonight. I suggest you do it now. Maybe the game will be better then...
ReplyDeleteNoted! Any idea why Dano played only 2:02 and spent most of the period in the dressing room? --SiM
DeleteFuck sake. Stay outta the box and you have a chance... Not tonight mind. Habs a fucking sleep
ReplyDeleteSluggish.
ReplyDeleteI stayed up to watch that shit... Come on guys... FFS!

Not good.
ReplyDeleteAnd even listening to the Flames broadcast is 1000% better than the SFU crew.
the Maritimer5:51 PM
ReplyDeleteI just hope they got their legs back tonight
Nope
Good thing we didn't have to leave that decision up to the 'war room' in Tronna.
ReplyDeleteCan’t see them making a comeback from this.
ReplyDeleteNope
DeleteDish!
ReplyDeleteWhat a snipe!
ReplyDeleteDish.
ReplyDeleteIf we could transfer Perry's mitts to Byron or Byron's wheels to Perry we'd have a superstar on our team.
ReplyDeleteI take back my comment about the broadcast being 1000 times better. Only about 2x better. Still homers and Cassie Campbell is just not a good analyst. I wish she was.

its seems half the team have been watCHing tapes of how to play and shoot like a Mexicant.
DeleteOh yeah, at least the Jets beat the fucking leaf last night after hnic spent half an hour bragging them up and what a star narcos is.
ReplyDeleteSo a couple of takes from me. First of all, I have always thought that a team that doesn't get at least 10 shots a period seldom win many games. DeleteSo theM., how’s the knees and the rest of the golf bod.
ReplyDeleteDropped 10 lbs during dry Feb. shopping for a new bike.
Hybrid.
DeleteGoal is to start with 25km per day and getting to 50km by end of summer.

ReplyDeleteI saw the Islanders have won 9 in a row. How the hell do you do that anyway? I would be ecstatic if the Habs could string 3 together.
ReplyDeleteBoo Hoo SFU. leaf lose again.
ReplyDeleteYep the jugofsnot leafs lose to the Sens. Habs need to get their shit together because this division is still wide open.
