    1. Yes, it’s sickening. There is a former residential school 600 m from my house. It’s sad.

    2. RIP to the thousands in unmarked graves still yet to be found.

      Delete
    3. RIP 215 and those yet to be found. So profoundly saddening and sickening at the same time indeed. Incomprehensible.

    4. hey guys...

excuse me for being dense, but why is this news? everybody knows a lot of horrible stuff was done at those schools. that's why the ones still living are called survivors. when i first caught it on the news, i was shocked sure, but i quickly rationalised it into a 'meh' reaction like when the next shooting in the usa happens.

when i see people of importance displaying public displays of outrage, im kinda offended at that.
im absolutely confused by it. is it really THAT surprising? am i being overly unsensitive? have i been too jaded with overall society? am i just a stone cold SOB?

RIP kids. hopefully you were able to quickly find your grandparents in the afterlife.

    5. I kind of get where you're coming from, as someone who follows the news, is somewhat familiar with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and hasn't had their head completely in the sand, yes, it should not surprise us. But it should not fail to shock us either. Those 215 were just found and counted last week. There are thousands more unaccounted for, which is a national disgrace. There is one across the river from me, in Kahnawake, right next to the 132. Their burial is literal and figurative of our shameful colonial past that we as a country have barely begun to reckon with.

    6. thnx for the reply SiM. i think i follow the news way too much for my own good. i think that de-sensitises me to when horrible things come out. thnx for providing context.

    7. Cheers. Gotta check my cynicism myself sometimes too.

  3. On a happier note: new series, new avatar for me. This time le Gros Bill, in honour of the kid who sometimes reminds me if him, KK, and who led the team in scoring in Round One. Now GYFHG!

  4. I hope the Habs have been able to keep their heads in the game better than me. I'm far too elated for having only won the opening series. Solely because it is the leaf. To be honest it's more about beating the arrogance out of the media than anything. Looking for full on Jets fandom tonight.

So JFW Habs, get me back into the groove.

Awesome thread btw Moe. Per usual.

    1. I really dig the juxtaposed fallen Saviour pics. But we must not look behind, lest we turn into a pillar of salt, or something!

If I have time, and if Ben Chariot of Eggs does something inspirational, perhaps a Bennie and the Jets parody will surface beford this series is over.

      Delete
    2. B-b-b-Bennie deck some Jets!

      Delete
    3. yeah! i was thinking the same thing. that fallen saviour meme is super moeio awesome. same as that 3-1 meme. i cant decide which one is better!

    personal observation:

    - do any of u know who is hte hab killer on the jets?
(hint: i wont say his name, but he is an american, looks exactly like a guy from TWD which nobody liked, a carrot top ginger i think...)

  9. Haha I see the NHL and SFU teamed up to have the draft lottery before the game so they can forego a pre-game between the 2 best Canadian teams in the North! Pathetic bunch of sick fucks, still stewing in their own tears no doubt.

    Now GHG JFW!

    1. Yep, totally normal.

  30. I jusg wang to mention that my avatar for thd first series had Lafleur's statue in the background, on account of the fact he was there to help us win the last Montreal-Toronto series. I was wesring my Price-31 T-shirt and evertime I wore it, Habs won. I ventured back today to get a new pic with #4. There are four statues down there in all. There are four rounds of playoffs. Hope I'm not done with my new tradition just yet. GYFHG

    1. hey SiM. yes. yes yes yes. this kind of dedication is exactly the kind of sacrifice we need to keep this ball rolling.

i did my part td by watching this blog, reading everything on habseyes, looking at the memes from leafs elimination day, eating an early lunch so i could go home early.

thnx for being a team player and i really like how you are staggering your efforts to ensure we have adequate depth for the later rounds.

  31. Is Leko still alive. He doesn't exist in the minds of the SFU as far as I can tell. I googled him and selected 'news' and the only sports outlet I found that noted he wouldn't be in the lineup tonight is CBS Sports. They don't even carry hockey FFS! It mentioned he hopes to be back for game 2. Not sure at this point whom he would replace...if he actually exists.

  32. Another fucking totally weird panel discussion worth shit.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I don't want to say mclame is an idiot because it seems he might have Alzheimer's starting to set in or something. His tries at 'analysis' have been completely inane, especially tonight. Then he says "Don't you agree Mark?" Who the fuck is Mark? The three panelists just stare blankly back with Homer Simpson blinking action.

  53. From Shit Fly's wikipedia page:

Scheifele is a practising Christian and gathers with teammates Adam Lowry, Josh Morrissey, and Tucker Poolman to pray and talk.[73] When speaking of his faith, Scheifele said: "I take the role I play in the community here as a Christian very seriously."[4]

Great, he can lead the Jets in prayer for Sevans. Get well, birthday boy. You did good.

  54. Kjell Dahlin, Max Pacioretty, Saku's eye, Lego, TFS's knee, Lep's jaw... seems like there's always some key player on the Habs who gets a vicious hit in the playoffs.

    ReplyDelete
  55. 'sigh'.... i should be over the moon but im hotter than the sun right now. i get schitly wishing to send a msg by smoking somebody at the end of the game, and i sense he didnt mean for the hit to be so vicious, but at some point, players need to have a certain amount of respect for eachother, otherwise everything evolves backwards to scenarios where tom wilson, sean avery, ryan reaves and other scumbags rule the game.

having said that, you know and i know the nhl will do squat. we saw it few games ago with reaves, and wilson on panarin. for us... it hits harder if you remember meyers on gi joel, and olafsson on gi joel last yr vs the phlyers. the nhl is spineless and what the nyr said was accurate, and necessary. lets see what these cowards come up with to justify a 1-gm suspension.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Lifetime suspension, nice win

    ReplyDelete
  57. That hit on Sevan was outrageous! He has to be gone for the series if not longer. Hope he's OK. I didn't catch the game - work night - One game at a time. Great win to start the series.!

    ReplyDelete
  58. It will be at most 2 game suspension. NHL is a joke

    ReplyDelete
  59. I just checjed @NHLJets on Twitter - post game tweets aplenty but not a word about their ShitFly and his maniacal hit. Not a word of well-wishing for the health of Jake Evans. I guess classy isn't their thing.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Per @EricEngels: There will be an announcement coming this morning from @NHLPlayerSafety regarding Mark ShitFly.

(I went ahead and fixed it for him at thr end there).

  62. Okay I am sitting on a geyser and its warm water and its gushing an I have to admit it feels good, maybe it could replace toliet paper with the right capture.
Lets just say in a sport there was a player that was reprimanded by his coach that seemed on the surface really weird.
Lets just say weeks later this player seems to have roid rage.
Lets just say there are more skates to fall, connect the dots, google it you lazy kids.

Good. Sit you dirty fuck. I would have kicked you out for 20.

      Delete
    3. What that does is save the spectacle of a mammoth shitshow since the games will be too important to get all revenge-minded. Also, if I'm a teammate of Sevans, I'd rather not see shitfly's hopped-up beady eyes again this series. Added motivation to focus on playing to win. So a decent ruling.

  66. Anyone see the new Tragically Hip video for Ouch? Montrealer Jay Baruchel (also a huge Habs fan) was stoked to be the main actor in it. Youtube. Good song. Funny vid.

    ReplyDelete
  67. the Maritimer9:44 PM

I would liked to have seen him gone for more. DoPS was correct in their assessment of the hit, there was NO attempt to play the puck, shitflea's only motivation was to hit the player as hard as he could and injure him. He was headhunting all night and finally succeeded. I had no idea he was that type of player. I used to like Paul Maurice but him attempting to defend that is reprehensible. I've lost all respect for both those individuals. I hope Montreal sweeps them.

I think Leko is ready to come back, thankfully, and I think it is long past time to re-insert the Tsar.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I wholeheartedly agree. Paul Maurice anc team mgmt showed zero class, even using the hit in their video montage of "highlights" from Game 1, the sick fucks.

Restore the Czar! Bring in Leko! Keep the BBQ fired up! Have Munster serve up revenge on a Dish of Eggs. The batld of StaalinHabs has only begun.

    2. M, SiM, its weird. sometimes i have so much respect for what you guys say, its like the three of us have the same exact prescription. how is it possible neither of u are not DDD, mexicant, druid or ta-TARR fans?!

      1. the coach was very unfair in explaining the hit and trying to justify it as playing hard and finishing a check.
      2. s#!tfly, ill give him the benefit of the doubt if he never does this again. still doesnt excuse him for not showing his opponent the respect required between men. finish your check fine, but dont take advantage of the situation and send him to the hospital. line crossed.
      3. congratulations to nhl for not making a joke out of it.

im probably gonna be stuck with the last word again so let me finish by saying: GYFHG, stop on their necks and do what M says to. ill send over 30 brooms from my wife's closet.

oh and get well soon 7evens. but not too soon or else those sick fxxx's will say: 'see! see! he wasnt injured that bad at all!'
