Beautiful stuff. On the SFU mediots, recall they are trained to hype Total BS for a living. They see true class in this team, its players its management, and they fucking stumped! They don't know how to deal AT ALL. They can't fathom it. So in that fucked-up Habs hating mindset of course TFS embellishes, and of course they cannot believe what their lying eyes are telling them.
1. hey just curious and too lazy to look up. isnt the tragically hip from wpg? 2. is this a preview of champagne butt? a little early to be celebrating anything eh? 3. whats with the beachouse with the wheelchair ramp? what am i missing?
Gonna address Oleg's comment from the last thread - cause it's worth stating again! - Oleg - I gotta strongly disagree with you here - As our fearless leader Moeman has already stated - We ain't fuckin' won shit" - OK - so I paraphased somewhat but you get the drift I trust. Habs gotta win 16 games and if TFS has to play them all, so be it. Any changes to key personnel right now will only motivate the Jets. TFS is in the ZONE! you don't ever fuck with the ZONE! If Dish has a broke finger, bring in Romanov (Czar?)...but otherwise you don't change the lineup. You win Game 4 tonight then the Habs get a nice rest. Remember also what TFS hjimself said "They don't hang division banners up here" NEVER FUCK WITH THE ZONE!
i can respect your answer, but the motivation behind asking those questions is b/c i am always worried about the worst case scenario. what if this happens, what could they have done different?
as reference, im using the zednick incident and then the gryba hit and then the kryder disaster. when those things happened, they couldnt get up. similarly, tavares + sxxxfly + stasny = two teams incapable of beating the 10 count. if something happens to them, i wanna be sure, we gave the understudy proper chance.
this is the theory behind using closers in baseball and using your starter for only the 1st 5-6 innings in playoffs?
Fair play. I think Alain more than proved himself this year. Habs don't make the playoffs without him. I don't know if the baseball analogy works in hockey though. Pulling a goalie in the zone makes the opposition say "Ha, these fuckers think we are beaten. Let's show 'em". Playing TFS tonight says "You haven't beat me yet, and tonight's not your night either"... Just Fucking Win!
Good points oleg, but UK3X is right about the difference between the two sports' culture. A starting pitcher only goes every three or four as a rule. I don't think it would hurt to play Pomme/Snake if TFS is too worn-down to do back-to-backs (insane and unheard of in the playoffs for a reason), but at the same time, the momentum is so strong I think it's best not to shake it up.
Tremendous! Man, Gord was a masterful poet though wasn't he? Of all the 'celebrity' deaths, he and Robin Williams hit me the hardest. Even though we saw Gord's coming from a mile away and Robin's was a sudden gut punch, I found both equally devastating.
Win tonight and you rest until at least Saturday. That alone is worth the fight. Added bonus, Shitfly would still be suspended for game 1 next season. If Dish hasn't had his chip epoxied yet, I hope we see Czar but I'm afraid we'll see XO instead.
I am so drunk with power... Made an editorial decision to replace "...and the current head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers, Alain Vigneault." with: "...and the Montreal Canadiens' Alternate Captain, Paul Byron."
OMG, this person was a stupid suicideal loser, but he did not grow up with that idea. In Canada the wars end at our borders. We get along and in the end mostly sing the same song.
8 PM start what I am seeing. Kmax might be strong enough for that late night, but I cant go past 8>30 due to my advanced age, Buttman is saying to Canadians fans coast to coast, your too old to watch hockey now fuck off.
Also, I mentioned last night about telling my friend it wasn’t Jesus Christ. But Guy Lafleur is pretty much the same. Well, I have another similar story where I used the same analogy
When my son was a young lad, I was reading him the book, ‘The Sweater’. In one scene I’m sure you all remember , the Rocket appears in the clouds above the rink, looking down on the boys playing hockey. My son asked me if that was God. Of course you know my reply. True story
Hope Czar doesn't disappoint the myriad of insane Habs fans that have been screaming for him to play. I stopped screaming after we beat the leaf. Remember? We beat the wretched leaf!
He's playing very cautiously out there. I suspect he knows he's on a short leash if he makes a mistake, like missing that hipcheck and creating an odd man break.
I played 9 Friday and did something to my back, though I think it is related to all my digging and wheelbarrowing of dirt too. Point being, yeah 18 will wipe you out.
Any stats on length of break between playoff series and success? I recall HNIC was quoting a few stats about teams with long layoffs who lost in the next round (this was after Winnipeg’s 9 day layoff). Google had nothing for me. I think four days rest would be ideal.
good catch mrs hogarth... i cant find it either, but i remember that cbc graphic and thought it was interesting. i wrote it down on a piece of paper i threw away already.
the stat was the last 5/6 teams who had more than 5/6 days between rounds, all lost their next series.
I could not make it last night - but I am now caught up and I am a very happy ex-pat! Fuck you to all the writers with their insane picks. Keep underestimating the Habs please. They like the odds!

I admit this really ripped me last night.

ReplyDelete‘It’s a Good Life If You Don’t Weaken’
When the color of the night
And all the smoke for one life
Gives way to shaky movements
Improvisational skills
A forest of whispering speakers
Let's swear that we will
Get with the times
In a current health to stay
Let's get friendship right
Get life day to day
In the forget yer skates dream
Full of countervailing woes
In diverse as ever scenes
Proceeding on a need to know
In a face so full of meaning
As to almost make it glow
For for a good life
We just might have to weaken
And find somewhere to go
Go somewhere we're needed
Find somewhere to grow
Go somewhere we're needed
When the color of the night
And all the smoke in one life
Gives way to shaky movements
Improvisational skills
In the forest of whispering speakers
Let's swear that we will
Get with the times
In a current health to stay
And let's get friendship right
Get life day to day
In the forget yer skates dream
Full of countervailing woes
In diverse as ever scenes
Proceeding on a need to know
In a face so full of meaning
As to almost make it glow
For for a good life
We just might have to weaken
And find somewhere to go
Go somewhere we're needed
Find somewhere to grow
Go somewhere we're needed
Find somewhere to go
Let's go somewhere we're needed
Find somewhere to grow
Go where we're needed
'Cause in the forget-yer-skates dream
You can hang your head in woe
And this diverse as ever scene
Know which way to go
A beautifully hypnotic song, so well sung by Feist (and I bet her pal Sarah Harmer would also kick singing it - she has more power in her voice).
DeleteLove Sarah.
DeleteAlso a big fan of Serena Ryder.

1. Kingston ON

3. SFU needs an off-ramp
Another amazing musical talent from Kingston: Sarah Harmer - and her former band Weeping Tile was great in the 90s.
DeleteLove Sarah Hammer she is like John Prine
DeleteOne of the few musicians Mrs. SiM and I both enjoy.

This update just in from TSN. Mitchie and Underpants each finished their rounds with a very respectable 67.
ReplyDeleteISWYDT. As a sude note, the Laffs remain the only Original Six team to Never Win More Than Two Playoff Series in a given season in their history.

ReplyDeleteI thought it was neat last night that instead of the Forum Ghosts we had Guy, Yvan and Reggie up in the rafters, turned out just as good!
I hope the boys put these dirty fucks away tonight and save themselves a flight to Winnipeg. I could use a break too.
I was thinking the same about the ghosts

DeleteClaude Raines checking in.
DeleteOk, that beer idea is pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteExcept it's Molson Canadian...
DeleteAnd think of all the places that cup has been!
But it is cool, I agree.
How cheesy was that molson commercial? Of course the sfu had to get their leaf on there dreaming about long, long gone days.
ReplyDeleteGimmicky but marketing idea is kinda cool.
DeleteWon’t be drinking it though.
Still wish I had got one of those Montreal Canadiens kegs they made back in the day
ReplyDeleteOh, oh cuthurt and simpleton starting to give the Habs a modicum of praise.
ReplyDeleteAnd they both get overexcited…
DeleteThat won't last
DeleteIt's been a while since Price let one of those in. I'll give him a pass.
ReplyDeleteOoh, no pass on that 2nd one though.
Deletei dont mind him letting in a few stinkers right now. get them out of the system so they dont hurt later.

Quickest whistle in the playoffs
ReplyDeleteI think Czar ought to introduce that Morgan Stanley fellow to his hip.
ReplyDeleteHe's playing very cautiously out there. I suspect he knows he's on a short leash if he makes a mistake, like missing that hipcheck and creating an odd man break.
DeleteGotta find that undertaker's instinct and bury them. Keep up the pressure boys! GYFHG !
ReplyDeleteThe panel should be really, really excited about the jets beating Price for a couple.
ReplyDeletebroons down 3-2 in games
ReplyDeletePoor fucking cASSie
ReplyDeleteYou can smell their desperation
ReplyDeleteTFS is looking tired
ReplyDeleteCzar getting that hip warmed up.
ReplyDeleteAnd 37-12 sog? Doesn't feel like it.

ReplyDeleteHabs have had a lot of puck luck this series. Wouldn't surprise me if the Jets get a flukey one here.
DeleteYes you can sense it coming
DeleteI clearly need to switch to Dan and Sergio.
ReplyDeleteI'm fading fast...
ReplyDeleteI played 9 Friday and did something to my back, though I think it is related to all my digging and wheelbarrowing of dirt too. Point being, yeah 18 will wipe you out.

ReplyDeleteDamn. I'll try to hang in there. Busy day tomorrow, just have to have an extra coffee I guess.
ReplyDeleteIf we get enough overtime periods, UK3X can join us to watch the ending
ReplyDeleteWow are they ever concerned about Dubois. Pre-game and every intermission talking about his play.

DeleteLike our FHFriend 29 I'm glad I wasn't around to see the OT win.
ReplyDeleteI like this little tidbit courtesy of the torontosportsnetwork:
The Canadiens improved to 34-0 all-time when leading a series 3-0, and added to their NHL record with the franchise's 23rd sweep.
Eat shit SFU.
Also, the Montreal Canadiens are the TRUE Kings of the North.
