WOW!! Great end of season AND Sexy Friday thread!! Thank you brother moe (and Saint Paddy) for keeping this blog alive after all these years. It's a great place for Habs fans to vent and commune in peace without any leafool riff raff bothering us. Please keep this one for commenting on the expansion draft, amateur draft and free agency and any habs news in general. I want to look at these pics for a while yet. Merci.

    1. Thanks theM. , unless it goes over 200, the thread remains.

I too would like to give St. Pad kudos for so many great assists and some beauty game day goals of his own.

Merci to all FHFriends that stuck/stick around. What a wonderful ride this season was.

Peace and love to all, have a great summer, be well, be safe and be good.

I think the current Anaheim coach, Dallas Eakins, is on thin ice. Joel probably saw an opportunity there as Lucky CHarms as probably sewed up the Habs gig for at least 3 years. When DD eventually gets fired JB will be ready to step in.

  3. End of season Q&A and commentary is very revealing that there's a lot of sfu in the Montreal media;

    Some of the worst are;
    norman flynn
    dany dube

Such fucking stupid, gutter-level questions and reactions.

You would know the Montreal media better than me but I don't know if they should be lumped in with the Hab-hating tranna media. I just know that engels is a bettman boot licker, maybe the rest of them are just not very good at their jobs? I have seen other commenters say flynn is just disgruntled all the time. He thinks the Habs can't do anything right?

  5. DGMB has some Sophie CHoices to make, here is what I would do
Expose the Druid, likely he will not go but it saves another
We are going to lose Jake Allen unless we make a side deal, make the side deal
Sign The first Joel to 3 m for 7 years
KOHO is rfa sign him long time at 5 per year
CHomadore, sorry bud but its three years a league min for you
Danno, 5 mill for 8 years done call Steve to confirm
    Leko, 2.5 for 8
Thats all the GM I can do the rest my assistants will handle

  6. the Maritimer6:57 PM

For the first time in many years I actually think the Montreal Canadiens will take a step forward towards being a legitimate contender. Suzuki, KoHo, Cole, Josh, Tyler, Lep, Phil, Armia are all Top 6 forwards. 7vens and Leko will be joined by some fresh youngsters like Poehling and Ylonen. Corey Perry can add a veteran presence somewhere in the lineup with managed minutes. Same as Weber, manage his minutes, add another legit D as Norlinder figures things out in Laval. Jordan Harris will be ready when the NCAA season is over in '22. And of course, Mr. Jake Allen will give Mr. Price the proper rest he needs in an 82 game season. I really like what I see for the future. I see Montreal and Ottawa as rising teams next season. Boston's window is closing, Florida will have goalie issues, the cheaters will have to cut some players loose to be cap compliant, the Sabres will be bottom feeders and the putrid leaf, well we know how that usually shakes out.

  7. A season ending worthy sexy Friday Mr moeman! Congrats and thanks for all the hard work and especially keeping the SFU in their place.

I echo most of what has already been said so leave it at that. I also echo kidA's feelings as I've mentioned many times. There is only one winner and finishing second isn't good enough, we need a cup to celebrate. And our window is currently open. Looking forward to an interesting off season.

Well it was epic. It smelled like 93. I'm heartened by the balance. The young the old the grumpy.
I love our speed when we use it. I can't help but think that we had a 5.5 million sniper just walk away at a time when every CH stood tall, took concussions and beatings in front of the net for that extra inch that is needed in the playoffs. Just to go on record with a hearty fuck you to that russian piece of shit who shit on our fans. We have long memories and you'll be in the Bell Centre soon enough. Hopefully DGMB will be able to keep the gang together once the Kraken is done and I'm anxious about off season acquisitions. It just might appear that MTL might be a cool place to play.
I'm happy for Dano. Back in Chester's day there was always a checking line and preventing a goal is just as important as scoring one. I'm interested in camp this year. Our team is balanced and without glaring holes with a mixed bag of newbies in Laval. Poeling must be close and Norlander is spose to be a rough cut gem in the works, and who knows what can be done with Druid and his cap hit Jack Eichel looks very good to me.
Anyway as the sun sets my sincere thanks to Moeman for this place. A place for rabid Habbies and great tits. A perfect combo if there ever was one.
    Salu le visit.

I'd stay away from Eichel I think he might be another problem child.

  10. I'l chime in here if I may. I have worries this off-season. I worry that the gm doesn't make a side deal to protect Allen. I worry he wastes a save by protecting Drouin. I 100% have no idea if he should re-sign Dano. I hope he re-sgns Perry. Not interested in Staal Gus or Merril. DD is still the wrong coach and I am sad they let Bouchard go - he was the right coach. That first pic on this blog is awesome - but it needed the Cup in the frame too...I worry that the moment in time it captured was it...their time was then...I hope I'm wrong but I still worry.

On a more upbeat note, this season has been like no other and this blog, as always is a highlight of my day - especially as I've been working from home through it all. So thanks as always Moeman and thanks to your very own Jake Allen - St. Pad- we wouldn't be here without you!

I saw this earlier today - LTIR might be an option but looks like the league has to review it too - if he retires it will cost Nashville a packetload...and yes - it does make the Entry draft more interesting but it would be a shame if it ends his career. Isn't this roughly how Tampa got so far over the cap - LTIR for BBQ then bring BBQ back for the playoffs next year Get well BBQ!

  21. the Maritimer9:04 AM

Wow, too bad about the Captain, that changes the water on the beans as we like to say in the Maritimes.

It frees up nearly 8 million in cap space, bergy should be able to get a decent replacement on D or, work Steve's man Flurry into the lineup over the season.

My golf buddy (a fellow Habs fan) had a juicy rumor yesterday: Supposedly Ilya Kovalchuk has told Ovechkin he should sign a 3 year deal with Montreal to pursue Gretzky's goals record.

I'm all for that! Imagine how the sfu and leafools would react!

  23. BBQ will go on LTR, he played a whole season on a ankle that could not support Twiggy. He will be back for the playoff run and after that its over.
BBQ first ballot hall of fame, yes. He is one of those players that never raised the cup so far, never one the norris but is acknowledged as the best D men of his time.
We won the Subban Trade in spades. PFK had a couple of good to great seasons with Nashville and now his is a pinball.

  24. Lots of chatter about there on the Weber situation. One very interesting one involves trading him to Nashville so they avoid the cap recapture when he retires. I don't know if that's how that works but if so, Maybe Ekholm?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Are you kidding? There is no way the Habs ever get Ovie - BB's ego couldn't even handle a rookie superstar in the making(PFK) never mind a seasoned, guaranteed HOF player - they are a rare breed of player that he does not relate to or understand - it will never happen.

  25. Finding it interesting (not really) how much concern the SFU has for BBQ's/Habs situation.

  26. Maybe they are talking a language of insiders ie he only skates 25 KPH when he needs to hit sixty
Bourgault has a quick, accurate shot, and does a good job of getting into positions to use it, but it’s not one that will often beat NHL goaltenders clean. He excels more in the playmaking department, ranking as one of the top draft-eligible players in shot assists,. The question is whether his average skating stride and low physicality will allow him the space to pull off those shots and passes as he advances to professional hockey.

did not make us blue, it made us blue blanc and rouge. Puck moving d men work well in the first season, but in the show you plow and hurt and do not make a mistake. Fancy boys may dance on ice but they are crushed when the ice is smaller because of the willingness of every one to make the ultimate sacrifice. In the regulars season I know players dont give a fuck. How do I know this. Well I work for a living and I get a paycheck and if I work soft or hard, the bank dont care, I get the same cheque.

Next week is going to be big for the Habs, bergy and we fans. Even if Weber is shut down for the year, there is a strong core to work with. A left PMD and a veteran sniper to augment young CC and replace JD is probably high on bergy's to do list. I think Phil will re-sign in Montreal. I think the Snake stays. The Seattle Crappin' will take 7Evans would be my guess.

  32. Wow, if Lebrun is right they have left Carey unprotected. If true I think this is one of:
-they have a deal in place with Seattle
    - they are banking on Seattle not taking on that contract
    - they asked Carey if he's interested in the possibility of moving his family back near his and his wife's home

It's really interesting. IF the Kraken take Price AND if Weber and Drouin are off the books, that is $23M or so for MB to reCHarge the team with. Could be a very interesting couple of weeks.

I don't think Seattle takes him, they are very high on Dreidger from Florida who put up way better numbers than Carey and will sign for much less. Plus, Bishflop is available as well as a number of other capable backups.

  36. Very clever move of DBGB is leave TFS in the wind. If the Kraken take him DBGB wins medium term, if they dont take him he wins another CHance for a Stanley cup run next year.

I dont think the Kraken take him because they dont want to be winning for a couple of years, Francis knows the Pissers may have launched from the gate, but they have set themselves up for decades of mediocrity without a real shot at the prize in the initial Fleury.. The way to win the cup is to get a franchise forward and D man, hope you get lucky or buy yourself a nice tandem.
The Kracken will take Byron for his leadership skills or Cale Fleury. You noticed how Flurey disappeared this year, no showcasing nothing.

If the Kracken do take TFS I bet we take Flopping Freddy from Toronto as a UFA. Dougie Hamilton as a UFA. Tarasenko in a Druid trade and we keep half his cap hit.

I think Francis looks at it but in the end he'll take a pass. Ronnie has said cap space is king these days, I don't think he wants 13% of it tied up on one goalie. Dreidger is 27 and coming into his prime and there are other younger guys out there available. Price is also injury prone as is well known with bad knees.

  75. Can't wait to see how the organization reacts today to the great horrified reaction to the Mailloux pick. I had not been paying close attention to this draft. It seems he videod himself getting a BJ from an 18-year-old female in a consensual act, but then shared the video with teammates, adding a pic identifying her, and paid repercussions in Sweden. He apologized and is taking it as a learning experience. Not exactly the classiest move by a team that is typically the classiest of the league. Or is the knee-jerking I see actually another tempest in a teapot? Seems like a guy boasting to his friends and not getting how it would create consequences for the other party, and hiw wrong it was. A really bad thing to have taken the shot and shared it without her consent, for which Swedish court found him guilty of defamation. He zppears to be showing contrition, but the other party is reportedly not terribly impressed with the apology she got in some text messages that were added to the court record.

He might be guilty of being disrespectful and stupid as fuck in a new environment at the age of 17. The CH braintrust - assuming we can still call it that - don't seem to be as troubled by his character. Mailloux is gamely being trotted out before the blood-smelling media stone-casters later. It's the kind of a story that everybody can get indignant about and jump on the holier than thou bus.
You can tell by the immediate reaction of the bottom feeder politicians trying to get some political mileage. There's something to be said about paying your dues to society when you have wronged, been caught and paid for it. There's also something to be said about an adult woman sucking off a minor. Kinda think that side of it got a little lost by everybody scrambling for the high road. DGMB and The Trevor man did their job. Pick the best guy when it's your turn in the draft. I don't think morality comes with the office. That is Geoff The Molson's job. The hockey guys did their job. I feel for the kid. I don't feel for the adult woman praying on minors. I believe in this country that would land her in jail, with the picture prob used as evidence against her. So I stand confused. Glad it's not my problem.
