  1. Thanks for the thread Moe.
I have the early curling draw so will put the game on record then decide whether to watch from the beginning or pick up in the 3rd when I get home.

Good luck team vs the best record in the league. I predict 2 for Ovi...but also 2 for Nature Boy.

I'll probably start, if Ovie and the Caps run up the score I'll bail.

  3. GYFHG! Welcome back, Pomme / Jake the snake

  4. Paquette of Smokes??? Really?!?

  5. Whiskey should be on 1st PP

  6. This team is such a turkey, I fully expect Joe Biden to pardon them in that grand Thanksgiving tradition.

  7. Can Pomme go back to concussion protocol? He looks very unsharp.

I watched the first episode of Hawkeye on Disney+, I like it should be a fun series.

I happened to catch the 'hi-lights' of the 1st period, looked like a comedy. Or perhaps a tragedy?

In any event, stay the course and play the Wright way. Even though they will never get him.

Poor Jake, he might as well have a peewee B team playing in front of him. Price must be watching this and going, thanks but no thanks.

Man, they look bad. Really bad. I'm done after this period.

  11. Back just in time to see CC put one just over the line. Great play following up on his original shot.

After a 5-0 start to the season our curling team is starting to look like our Habs. Man we were bad tonight. Lost 13-1 and ended in mercy after 6 ends. Bonus is we got free beer. Best thing about the sport, you either win the game or get a free drink.

  12. It's never a proper Habs loss until they've allowed that magical fifth goal.

At least they got Paquette back in the lineup. Pretty sure that's more important than winning.

I wonder who they've got lined up to replace Unlucky Charms? Burrows?

  14. Just caught the replay of the own goal by Paq of smokes. Probably promote him to first PP unit for next game (assuming he wasn't already on it tonight).

  15. Not sure if I'm missing data, but pretty sure my math is right on this.

    Habs worse record ever 1939/40 - 48 games, 10-33-5 for a .260 winning percentage

    Worse 82 game record - 2000/01 - 28-40-8 for a .426 winning percentage

    Current record after 21 games - 5-14-2 for a .286 winning percentage

This team is by far the worse I personally have ever watched. I remember those late 90's early 2000s teams being ugly (always felt bad for Koivu) but this team 'seems' like it should be better but it is just bad. Is it coaching, lack of skill on defence, lack of offence, goaltending? combination of all these things? I don't know, but I do know this is the least i've ever watched this team in the last 20 years.

    1. Team Captain: convalescing in Kelowna
Head Coach: still thinks he is Claude's assistant, evidently.
      GM: convalescing in COVID-19 quarantine
President of hockey ops: eerily silent and far, far away.

The rot is at thd top. Accountability is left to Whiskey, Lep, Sevans, and Paq o' Smokes. Dismal doesn't start to define it.

  16. In all this we forgot to congrulate Whiskey on his first regular season NHL goal.

Yeah, this team is epic bad. The defence is not great and they theoretically should be able to score some goals. Allen is only average so there is that. I blame douche-arme. His 'system' sucks rocks and the players hate it. They've checked out.

  21. Picked up Curb Your Enthusiasm at Season 6 as it's been a while since I've watched it. It is one of few shows that make me laugh out loud, even as I sit alone in the dark watching it. Mostly cringeworthy if you don't like awkward situations but funny as hell in my books.

Lots of reading material out there on the interwebs regarding what to do with the Canadiens situation. I'm probably repeating myself but:

    1. Geoff Molson needs to explain to the fans/season ticket holders/sponsors that it is a lost season. Very simple job, in the interest of transparency, to be forthright about it.
    2. Let bergy walk, Timmins or Scott Mellanby can be interim GM until a francophone one can be found although I think that is totally unnecessary for the position.
    3. Replace douchebag charms with Luke as HC, or let it appear that Burrows is calling the shots while Luke actually is.
    4. No trades until at least February. Don't try to improve the team just let shit happen.
    5. Send Caufield back to Laval and let him continue to develop properly.
    6. Send Norlinder back to Sweden ASAP. See #5.
    7. Keep Carey Price far, far away from this mess.
    8. Ride the vets like rented mules and let the chips fall where they may. Pray the hockey gods smile favourably on the Habs when the lottery picks are made.
    9. Fuck the leaf and the sfu.

That's my plan, feel free to add/delete as necessary.

Wow, I just listened to Tony Marinaro's Sick Podcast for the first time and did he ever give it to the Quebec newspapers. He said the Journal de Montreal, La Presse and Premier Legault are running the Habs into the dirt with their French mandates. I know he's a loud mouth, but he's not wrong. The Seattle Kraken are a better team statistically. How the fuck is that even possible? I think the Habs have a long hard road ahead of them with all the language restrictions. I fear they will not win another Cup in my lifetime.

    1. The saddest part of that is there is a lot of French media and space devoted to this team. They. Need. Content. Not some interpreter for an English-only coach. They need a handful of French-speaking players and voaching staff for interviews, daily. And when LB was out last season, and Druid went offline, that left Dano to do all the media requests, visit the French kids' hospitals, etc. That was dumb on Bergy's part to let it slide like that. He overcompensated with draft picks and ran out and signed WrongSavard and Paq o Smokes because they were available and crazy enough to subject themselves to this media climate (RDS, RDS2, TVA-Sports), and all the radio and regular TV and print and online. Not easy to keep everyone happy. No wonder Dano split for the farthest location in the league aftrr last season.

I get that Quebec politicians are on a mission to save and preserve their culture, although I don't believe for a second that it is under threat. It's probably the most protected on the planet. I don't believe a unilingual anglophone hockey coach threatens that in any way, shape or form. The only language 'they' should speak is hockey. All those soundbites are easily translatable. Also, you can simulcast translate as they do down here in NB when Covid updates are given in French and English. I just think some French media get their hackles up when they don't get what they want.

    3. Oh that's for sure. But there is a difference when one looks to their hockey stars to represent them as ambassadors of their culture (this is on the francophone media emperors, mostly). The expectations are ridiculous and a guy like Druid evidently had to have a complete nervous breakdown before they eased up one iota.

  27. Following up on my earlier math lesson, after tomorrow night's loss, the Habs will be on the exact .260 winning percentage pace as the 1939/40 hapless Habs , matching the worst percentage in the 112 year history of the team.

No point in changing the coach at this point but if MB is bailing next year, he really should be replaced soon, before the trade deadline and well before the draft.

    1. I mean there is a point
..that being he is a terrible coach it seems, but is in a new contract so it won't happen. So maybe that has to wait until the off season
